Since these systems are difficult to simulate, compute and store, we attempt to reduce this large system using Low Rank Cholesky Factorized Alternating Directions Implicit (LRCF-ADI) iteration followed by Square Root Balanced Truncation. LRCF-ADI solves the dual Lyapunov equations of the large system and gives low-rank Cholesky factors of the gramians as the solution. Using these cholesky factors, we compute the Hankel singular values via singular value decomposition. Later, implementing square root balanced truncation, the reduced system is obtained. The bode plots of original and lower order systems are used to show that the magnitude and phase responses are same for both the systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low-rank%20cholesky%20factor%20alternating%20directions%20implicit%20iteration" title="low-rank cholesky factor alternating directions implicit iteration">low-rank cholesky factor alternating directions implicit iteration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LTI%20Descriptor%20system" title=" LTI Descriptor system"> LTI Descriptor system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lyapunov%20equations" title=" Lyapunov equations"> Lyapunov equations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Square-root%20balanced%20truncation" title=" Square-root balanced truncation"> Square-root balanced truncation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26947/model-order-reduction-of-continuous-lti-large-descriptor-system-using-lrcf-adi-and-square-root-balanced-truncation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26947.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">418</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9482</span> An EWMA P-Chart Based on Improved Square Root Transformation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saowanit%20Sukparungsee">Saowanit Sukparungsee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Generally, the traditional Shewhart p chart has been developed by for charting the binomial data. Human error related root causes are an important root cause category also in IT service management, although it’s proportion among root causes is smaller than in the other industries. The research problem in this study is: How root causes of incidents related to human errors should be categorized in an ITSM organization to effectively support service improvement. Categorization based on IT service management processes and based on Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) taxonomy was studied in a case study. HFACS is widely used in human error root cause categorization across many industries. Combining these two categorization models in a two dimensional matrix was found effective, yet impractical for daily work. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IT%20service%20management" title="IT service management">IT service management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ITIL" title=" ITIL"> ITIL</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=incident" title=" incident"> incident</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=problem" title=" problem"> problem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HFACS" title=" HFACS"> HFACS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=swiss%20cheese%20model" title=" swiss cheese model"> swiss cheese model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27369/human-errors-in-it-services-hfacs-model-in-root-cause-categorization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27369.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">488</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9480</span> Life Prediction Method of Lithium-Ion Battery Based on Grey Support Vector Machines</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaogang%20Li">Xiaogang Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jieqiong%20Miao"> Jieqiong Miao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> As for the problem of the grey forecasting model prediction accuracy is low, an improved grey prediction model is put forward. Firstly, use trigonometric function transform the original data sequence in order to improve the smoothness of data , this model called SGM( smoothness of grey prediction model), then combine the improved grey model with support vector machine , and put forward the grey support vector machine model (SGM - SVM).Before the establishment of the model, we use trigonometric functions and accumulation generation operation preprocessing data in order to enhance the smoothness of the data and weaken the randomness of the data, then use support vector machine (SVM) to establish a prediction model for pre-processed data and select model parameters using genetic algorithms to obtain the optimum value of the global search. Finally, restore data through the "regressive generate" operation to get forecasting data. In order to prove that the SGM-SVM model is superior to other models, we select the battery life data from calce. The presented model is used to predict life of battery and the predicted result was compared with that of grey model and support vector machines. For a more intuitive comparison of the three models, this paper presents root mean square error of this three different models .The results show that the effect of grey support vector machine (SGM-SVM) to predict life is optimal, and the root mean square error is only 3.18%. There is no doubt that some works have been carried out in this area, but more works need to be done. Presently, most of the works on encryption is concentrated on the sender of the message without paying any attention to the message recipient. However, it is a good practice if any message sent to someone is received by the particular person whom the message is sent to. This work seeks to ensure that at the receiving end of the message, there is a security to ensure that the recipient computes a key that would enable the encrypted message to be accessed. This key would be in form of password. This would make it possible for a given message to be sent to several people at the same time. When this happens, it is only those people who computes the key correctly that would be given the opportunity to access even the encrypted message, which can in turn be decrypted using the appropriate key. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arithmetic" title="arithmetic">arithmetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyber%20space" title=" cyber space"> cyber space</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modulo-2" title=" modulo-2"> modulo-2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20security" title=" information security "> information security </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30281/application-of-modulo-2-arithmetic-in-securing-communicated-messages-throughout-the-globe" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30281.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">320</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9477</span> Simulation of Growth and Yield of Rice Under Irrigation and Nitrogen Management Using ORYZA2000</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mojtaba%20Esmaeilzad%20Limoudehi">Mojtaba Esmaeilzad Limoudehi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To evaluate the model ORYZA2000, under the management of irrigation and nitrogen fertilization experiment, a split plot with a randomized complete block design with three replications on hybrid cultivars (spring) in the 1388-1387 crop year was conducted at the Rice Research Institute. Simulated and measured values of leaf area index, grain yield, and biological parameters using the regression coefficient, t-test, the root mean square error (RMSE), and normalized root mean square error (RMSEn) were performed. Results, the normalized root mean square error of 10% in grain yield, the biological yield of 9%, and 23% of maximum LAI was determined. With the emergence of Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP), considerable work has been done in order to better modularize the separation of concerns in the software design and implementation. The goal is to prevent the cross-cutting concerns to be scattered across the multiple modules of the program and tangled with other modules. One of the key challenges in the aspect-oriented programs is to be sure that all the pieces put together at the weaving time ensure the satisfiability of the overall system requirements. Our paper focuses on this problem and proposes a formal property verification approach for a given property from the woven program. The approach is based on the control flow graph (CFG) of the woven program, and the use of a satisfiability modulo theories (SMT) solver to check whether each property (represented par one aspect) is satisfied or not once the weaving is done. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aspect-oriented%20programming" title="aspect-oriented programming">aspect-oriented programming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=control%20flow%20graph" title=" control flow graph"> control flow graph</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=property%20verification" title=" property verification"> property verification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=satisfiability%20modulo%20theories" title=" satisfiability modulo theories"> satisfiability modulo theories</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97503/a-formal-property-verification-for-aspect-oriented-programs-in-software-development" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97503.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">176</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9475</span> [Keynote Speech]: Feature Selection and Predictive Modeling of Housing Data Using Random Forest</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bharatendra%20Rai">Bharatendra Rai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Predictive data analysis and modeling involving machine learning techniques become challenging in presence of too many explanatory variables or features. Presence of too many features in machine learning is known to not only cause algorithms to slow down, but they can also lead to decrease in model prediction accuracy. This study involves housing dataset with 79 quantitative and qualitative features that describe various aspects people consider while buying a new house. Boruta algorithm that supports feature selection using a wrapper approach build around random forest is used in this study. This feature selection process leads to 49 confirmed features which are then used for developing predictive random forest models. The study also explores five different data partitioning ratios and their impact on model accuracy are captured using coefficient of determination (r-square) and root mean square error (rsme). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=housing%20data" title="housing data">housing data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=feature%20selection" title=" feature selection"> feature selection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=random%20forest" title=" random forest"> random forest</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boruta%20algorithm" title=" Boruta algorithm"> Boruta algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=root%20mean%20square%20error" title=" root mean square error"> root mean square error</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72464/keynote-speech-feature-selection-and-predictive-modeling-of-housing-data-using-random-forest" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72464.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">323</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9474</span> Analysis of the Inverse Kinematics for 5 DOF Robot Arm Using D-H Parameters</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Apurva%20Patil">Apurva Patil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maithilee%20Kulkarni"> Maithilee Kulkarni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ashay%20Aswale"> Ashay Aswale</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposes an algorithm to develop the kinematic model of a 5 DOF robot arm. These methods require sample data size and spot frequencies of SFRA signatures that are being compared. The techniques used are based on power signal processing tools that can simplify result and limits can be created for the severity of the fault occurring in the transformer due to several short circuit forces or due to ageing. Indeed, there is a big demand because of their reliability, robustness and cost. The objective of this paper is to deal with diagnosis, detection and isolation of faults in a three-phase induction machine. Among the faults, Inter-turn short-circuit fault (ITSC), current sensors fault and single-phase open circuit fault are selected to deal with. However, a fault detection method is suggested using residual errors generated by the root mean square (RMS) of phase currents. The application of this method is based on an asymmetric nonlinear model of Induction Machine considering the winding fault of the three axes frame state space. In addition, current sensor redundancy and sensor fault detection and isolation (FDI) are adopted to ensure safety operation of induction machine drive. Finally, a validation is carried out by simulation in healthy and faulty operation modes to show the benefit of the proposed method to detect and to locate with, a high reliability, the three types of faults. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=induction%20machine" title="induction machine">induction machine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20nonlinear%20model" title=" asymmetric nonlinear model"> asymmetric nonlinear model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fault%20diagnosis" title=" fault diagnosis"> fault diagnosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inter-turn%20short-circuit%20fault" title=" inter-turn short-circuit fault"> inter-turn short-circuit fault</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=root%20mean%20square" title=" root mean square"> root mean square</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=current%20sensor%20fault" title=" current sensor fault"> current sensor fault</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fault%20detection%20and%20isolation" title=" fault detection and isolation"> fault detection and isolation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/133081/root-mean-square-based-method-for-fault-diagnosis-and-fault-detection-and-isolation-of-current-fault-sensor-in-an-induction-machine" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/133081.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">198</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9471</span> Experimental Study on the Vibration Isolation Performance of Metal-Net Rubber Vibration Absorber</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Su%20Yi%20Ming">Su Yi Ming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hou%20Ying"> Hou Ying</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zou%20Guang%20Ping"> Zou Guang Ping</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Metal-net rubber is a new dry friction damping material, compared with the traditional metal rubber, which has high mechanization degree, and the mechanical performance of metal-net rubber is more stable. The two methods were applied to the log difference series of the daily turbidity flow series of WCC. The measurements of error employed to investigate the forecasting performance of the ARFIMA and JRNN models are the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and the Mean Absolute Error (MAE). The outcome of the investigation revealed that the forecasting performance of the JRNN technique is better than the forecasting performance of the ARFIMA technique in the mean square error sense. The results of the ARFIMA and JRNN models were obtained by the simulation of the models using MATLAB version 8.03. The significance of using the log difference series rather than the difference series is that the log difference series stabilizes the turbidity flow series than the difference series on the ARFIMA and JRNN. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=auto%20regressive" title="auto regressive">auto regressive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mean%20absolute%20error" title=" mean absolute error"> mean absolute error</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neural%20network" title=" neural network"> neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=root%20square%20mean%20error" title=" root square mean error"> root square mean error</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75328/forecasting-performance-comparison-of-autoregressive-fractional-integrated-moving-average-and-jordan-recurrent-neural-network-models-on-the-turbidity-of-stream-flows" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75328.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">268</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9468</span> Root Biomass Growth in Different Growth Stages of Wheat and Barley Cultivars</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Akman">H. This work was planned with four replications at a Completely Randomized Block Design in 2011-2012 growing season. In the study, root biomass growth was evaluated at stages of stem elongation, complete of anthesis and full grain maturity. Results showed that there were significant differences between cultivars grown at dry and irrigated lands in all growth stages in terms of root biomass (P < 0.01). According to research results, all of growth stages, dry typed-bread and durum wheats generally had higher root biomass than irrigated typed-cultivars, furthermore that dry typed-barley cultivar, had higher root biomass at GS 31 and GS 69, however lower at GS 92 than Larende. In all cultivars, root biomass increased between GS 31 and GS 69 so that dry typed-cultivars had more root biomass increase than irrigated typed-cultivars. Root biomass of bread wheat increased between GS 69 and GS 92, however root biomass of barley and durum wheat decreased. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bread%20and%20durum%20wheat" title="bread and durum wheat">bread and durum wheat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=barley" title=" barley"> barley</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=root%20biomass" title=" root biomass"> root biomass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=different%20growth%20stage" title=" different growth stage"> different growth stage</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20561/root-biomass-growth-in-different-growth-stages-of-wheat-and-barley-cultivars" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20561.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">605</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9467</span> Assessment of the Root Causes of Marine Debris Problem in Lagos State</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chibuzo%20Okoye%20Daniels">Chibuzo Okoye Daniels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gillian%20Glegg"> Gillian Glegg</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lynda%20Rodwell"> Lynda Rodwell</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The continuously growing quantity of very slow degrading litter deliberately discarded into the coastal waters around Lagos as marine debris is obvious. What is not known is how to tackle this problem to reduce its prevalence and impact on the environment, economy and community. To identify ways of tackling the marine debris problem two case study areas (Ikoyi and Victoria Islands of Lagos State) were used to assess the root causes, the threat posed by marine debris in the coastal waters around Lagos and the efficacy of current instruments, programmes and initiatives that address marine debris in the study areas. The following methods were used: (1) Self-completed questionnaires for households and businesses within the study areas; (2) Semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders; (3) Observational studies of waste management from collection to disposal and waste management facilities for waste originating from land and maritime sources; (4) Beach surveys and marine debris surveys on shorelines and ports; and (5) Fishing for marine debris. Results of this study identified the following root causes: (1) Indiscriminate human activities and behaviors, and lack of awareness on the part of the main stakeholders and the public of the potential consequences of their actions; (2) Poor solid waste management practices; (3) Lack of strict legal frameworks addressing waste and marine debris problem; and (4) Disposal of non-degradable wastes into domestic sewer system and open streets drains. To effectively tackle marine debris problem in the study areas, adequate, appropriate and cost effective solutions to the above mentioned root causes needs to be identified and effectively transferred for implementation in the study areas. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=marine%20debris%20problem" title="marine debris problem">marine debris problem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lagos%20state" title=" Lagos state"> Lagos state</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=litter" title=" litter"> litter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coastal%20waters" title=" coastal waters"> coastal waters</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10082/assessment-of-the-root-causes-of-marine-debris-problem-in-lagos-state" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10082.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">379</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9466</span> Improving Human Hand Localization in Indoor Environment by Using Frequency Domain Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wipassorn%20Vinicchayakul">Wipassorn Vinicchayakul</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pichaya%20Supanakoon"> Pichaya Supanakoon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sathaporn%20Promwong"> Sathaporn Promwong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A human’s hand localization is revised by using radar cross section (RCS) measurements with a minimum root mean square (RMS) error matching algorithm on a touchless keypad mock-up model. RCS and frequency transfer function measurements are carried out in an indoor environment on the frequency ranged from 3.0 to 11.0 GHz to cover federal communications commission (FCC) standards. The touchless keypad model is tested in two different distances between the hand and the keypad. The initial distance of 19.50 cm is identical to the heights of transmitting (Tx) and receiving (Rx) antennas, while the second distance is 29.50 cm from the keypad. Moreover, the effects of Rx angles relative to the hand of human factor are considered. The RCS input parameters are compared with power loss parameters at each frequency. From the results, the performance of the RCS input parameters with the second distance, 29.50 cm at 3 GHz is better than the others. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=radar%20cross%20section" title="radar cross section">radar cross section</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fingerprint-based%20localization" title=" fingerprint-based localization"> fingerprint-based localization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minimum%20root%20mean%20square%20%28RMS%29%20error%20matching%20algorithm" title=" minimum root mean square (RMS) error matching algorithm"> minimum root mean square (RMS) error matching algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=touchless%20keypad%20model" title=" touchless keypad model"> touchless keypad model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43429/improving-human-hand-localization-in-indoor-environment-by-using-frequency-domain-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43429.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">342</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9465</span> Optimization of Tooth Root Profile and Drive Side Pressure Angle to Minimize Bending Stress at Root of Asymmetric Spur Gear Tooth</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Priyakant%20Vaghela">Priyakant Vaghela</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jagdish%20Prajapati"> Jagdish Prajapati</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Bending stress at the root of the gear tooth is the very important criteria in gear design and it should be kept the minimum. Minimization of bending stress at the root of the gear tooth is a recent demand from industry. This paper presents an innovative approach to obtain minimum bending stress at the root of a tooth by optimizing tooth root profile and drive side pressure angle. Circular-filleted at the root of the tooth is widely used in the design. Circular fillet creates discontinuity at the root of the tooth. So, at root stress concentration occurs. In order to minimize stress concentration, an important criterion is a G2 continuity at the blending of the gear tooth. A Bezier curve is used with G2 continuity at the root of asymmetric spur gear tooth. The comparison has been done between normal and modified tooth using ANSYS simulation. Tooth root profile and drive side pressure angle are optimized to minimize bending stress at the root of the tooth of the asymmetric involute spur gear. Von Mises stress of optimized profile is analyzed and compared with normal profile symmetric gear. Von Mises stress is reducing by 31.27% by optimization of drive side pressure angle and root profile. Stress concentration of modified gear was significantly reduced. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20spur%20gear%20tooth" title="asymmetric spur gear tooth">asymmetric spur gear tooth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G2%20continuity" title=" G2 continuity"> G2 continuity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pressure%20angle" title=" pressure angle"> pressure angle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stress%20concentration%20at%20the%20root%20of%20tooth" title=" stress concentration at the root of tooth"> stress concentration at the root of tooth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tooth%20root%20stress" title=" tooth root stress"> tooth root stress</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95043/optimization-of-tooth-root-profile-and-drive-side-pressure-angle-to-minimize-bending-stress-at-root-of-asymmetric-spur-gear-tooth" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95043.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">186</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9464</span> Unit Root Tests Based On the Robust Estimator</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wararit%20Panichkitkosolkul">Wararit Panichkitkosolkul</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p class="Abstract" style="text-indent:10.2pt">The unit root tests based on the robust estimator for the first-order autoregressive process are proposed and compared with the unit root tests based on the ordinary least squares (OLS) estimator. The parasite responsible for the vast majority of fatal malaria infections is Plasmodium falciparum. Unfortunately, most Plasmodium strains including P. falciparum have become resistant to most of the antimalarials including chloroquine, mefloquine, etc. To combat this problem, WHO has recommended the use of artemisinin and its derivatives in artemisinin based combination therapy (ACT). Due to its current use in artemisinin based-combination therapy (ACT), its global demand is increasing continuously. But, the relatively low yield of artemisinin in A. annua L. plants and unavailability of economically viable synthetic protocols are the major bottlenecks for its commercial production and clinical use. Chemical synthesis of artemisinin is also very complex and uneconomical. The hairy root system, using the Agrobacterium rhizogenes LBA 9402 strain to enhance the production of artemisinin in A. annua L., is developed in our laboratory. The transgenic nature of hairy root lines and the copy number of trans gene (rol B) were confirmed using PCR and Southern Blot analyses, respectively. The effect of different concentrations of Piriformospora indica on artemisinin production in hairy root cultures were evaluated. 3% P. indica has resulted 1.97 times increase in artemisinin production in comparison to control cultures. The effects of P. indica on artemisinin production was positively correlated with regulatory genes of MVA, MEP and artemisinin biosynthetic pathways, viz. hmgr, ads, cyp71av1, aldh1, dxs, dxr and dbr2 in hairy root cultures of A. annua L. Mass scale cultivation of A. annua L. hairy roots by plant tissue culture technology may be an alternative route for production of artemisinin. A comprehensive investigation of the hairy root system of A. annua L. would help in developing a viable process for the production of artemisinin. The efficiency of the scaling up systems still needs optimization before industrial exploitation becomes viable. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20annua%20L." title="A. annua L.">A. annua L.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artemisinin" title=" artemisinin"> artemisinin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hairy%20root%20cultures" title=" hairy root cultures"> hairy root cultures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=malaria" title=" malaria"> malaria</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22980/improvement-of-artemisinin-production-by-p-indica-in-hairy-root-cultures-of-a-annua-l" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22980.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">415</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9461</span> Study on Bending Characteristics of Square Tube Using Energy Absorption Part</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shigeyuki%20Haruyama">Shigeyuki Haruyama</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zefry%20Darmawan"> Zefry Darmawan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ken%20Kaminishi"> Ken Kaminishi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the square tube subjected to the bending load, the rigidity of the entire square tube is reduced when a collapse occurs due to local stress concentration. Eighty single-rooted extracted human teeth were endodontically treated, apicectomised and randomly divided into four following groups (n = 20): US/MTA, US/NEC, L/MTA and L/NEC. In US/MTA and US/NEC groups, rooted cavities were prepared with ultrasonic retrotip and filled with MTA and NEC, respectively. In L/MTA and L/NEC groups, root-end cavities were prepared using Er, Cr:YSGG laser and filled with MTA and NEC, respectively. Each root was cut apically to create a 2 mm-thick root slice for measurement of bond strength using a universal testing machine. Then, all slices were examined to determine the mode of bond failure. Data were analysed using two-way ANOVA. Root-end filling materials showed significantly higher bond strength in root-end cavities prepared using the ultrasonic technique (US/MTA and US/NEC) (P < 0.001). The bond strengths of MTA and NEC did not differ significantly. The failure modes were mainly adhesive for MTA, but cohesive for NEC. In conclusion, bond strengths of MTA and NEC to root-end cavities were comparable and higher in ultrasonically prepared cavities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bond%20strength" title="bond strength">bond strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Er" title=" Er"> Er</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cr%3AYSGG%20laser" title="Cr:YSGG laser">Cr:YSGG laser</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MTA" title=" MTA"> MTA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NEC" title=" NEC"> NEC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=root-end%20cavity" title=" root-end cavity"> root-end cavity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17770/push-out-bond-strength-of-two-root-end-filling-materials-in-root-end-cavities-prepared-by-ercr-ysgg-laser-or-ultrasonic-technique" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17770.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">345</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9459</span> Introgression of Improved Root Biomass Traits into Wheat Hybrids</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=F.%20N.%20U.%20Abdullah">F. An initial wheat root study with Winrhizo scanner showed that entries with high root surface area but narrow root angle are associated with past drought tolerance in Texas, while those with wide angle can perform best under normal growing conditions. In a hybrid field experiment, commercial heterosis up to 8.3% in grain yield was obtained from diverse parents selected from male and female diverse groups. These hybrids showed promising yield at Greenville and McGregor, Texas, with grain yield up to 4412 Kg ha⁻¹ as compared to best performing commercial varieties ‘TAM-304’ (4075 Kg ha⁻¹) and ‘Gallagher’ (3981 Kg ha⁻¹). Among 130 hybrids produced, a subset of 50 better-performing hybrids and parents was subjected to one-month-old plant root studies scanned with Winrhizo. In this paper, an adaptive selection of the best suitable surrogate model method is proposed to solve different kinds of expensive optimization problems. Firstly, according to the prediction residual error sum of square (PRESS) and different model selection strategies, the excellent individual surrogate models are integrated into multiple ensemble models in each generation. Then, based on the minimum root of mean square error (RMSE), the best suitable surrogate model is selected dynamically. Secondly, two methods with dynamic number of models and selection strategies are designed, which are used to show the influence of the number of individual models and selection strategy. Finally, some compared studies are made to deal with several commonly used benchmark problems, as well as a rotor system optimization problem. The results demonstrate the accuracy and robustness of the proposed method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptive%20selection" title="adaptive selection">adaptive selection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=expensive%20optimization" title=" expensive optimization"> expensive optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rotor%20system" title=" rotor system"> rotor system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surrogates%20assisted%20evolutionary%20algorithms" title=" surrogates assisted evolutionary algorithms"> surrogates assisted evolutionary algorithms</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137516/an-adaptive-hybrid-surrogate-assisted-particle-swarm-optimization-algorithm-for-expensive-structural-optimization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137516.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">141</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9455</span> Estimating X-Ray Spectra for Digital Mammography by Using the Expectation Maximization Algorithm: A Monte Carlo Simulation Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chieh-Chun%20Chang">Chieh-Chun Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Ting%20Shih"> Cheng-Ting Shih</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yan-Lin%20Liu"> Yan-Lin Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Jun%20Chang"> Shu-Jun Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jay%20Wu"> Jay Wu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the widespread use of digital mammography (DM), radiation dose evaluation of breasts has become important. X-ray spectra are one of the key factors that influence the absorbed dose of glandular tissue. In this study, we estimated the X-ray spectrum of DM using the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm with the transmission measurement data. The interpolating polynomial model proposed by Boone was applied to generate the initial guess of the DM spectrum with the target/filter combination of Mo/Mo and the tube voltage of 26 kVp. The Monte Carlo N-particle code (MCNP5) was used to tally the transmission data through aluminum sheets of 0.2 to 3 mm. The X-ray spectrum was reconstructed by using the EM algorithm iteratively. The influence of the initial guess for EM reconstruction was evaluated. The percentage error of the average energy between the reference spectrum inputted for Monte Carlo simulation and the spectrum estimated by the EM algorithm was -0.14%. The normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) and the normalized root max square error (NRMaSE) between both spectra were 0.6% and 2.3%, respectively. We conclude that the EM algorithm with transmission measurement data is a convenient and useful tool for estimating x-ray spectra for DM in clinical practice. <p
