We intend to help surgeons with the challenges they face in their practices and to realize that they have an important role in influencing how the orthopedics industry responds to these challenges.<br> </span></div> <div><span><br> </span><span>The goal for this year’s program is for the Generation Next leaders to exchange ideas on current topics and then communicate them with the orthopedics community. We want to establish an opportunity for the Generation Next leaders to educate their peers and other health care professionals by delivering expert insight on their vision of the future of the orthopedics industry. The discussions that follow focus on the future of orthopedics, as well as data collection in the new age of medicine. It will become an obligation for U.S. physicians to collect data to show the value of care provided to patients and to the individuals who pay for that care, so it is important to consider how that data should be collected and which data are essential. The discussions also focus on health care economics and how the bundled payment system will affect surgeons’ practices.</span> <div><span><br> </span></div> <div><span>I thank the Generation Next leaders for their efforts and contributions and their willingness to share this information with their peers to inspire a new educational platform.
