Therefore<MH5921, 3651>, the inhabitants<MH3427> of the earth<MH776> decrease<MH2787> in<MH2787> number<MH2787>, and few<MH4213> people<MH582> are left<MH7604>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>The new<MH8492> wine<MH8492> mourns<MH56>, <t><p class="indent1">The vine<MH1612> decays<MH535>, <t><p class="indent1">All<MH3605> the joyful-hearted<MH8056, 3820> sigh<MH584>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>The joy<MH4885> of tambourines<MH8596> ceases<MH7673a>, <t><p class="indent1">The noise<MH7588> of revelers<MH5947> stops<MH2308>, <t><p class="indent1">The joy<MH4885> of the harp<MH3658> ceases<MH7673a>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>They do not drink<MH8354> wine<MH3196> with song<MH7892a>; <t><p class="indent1">Intoxicating<MH7941> drink<MH7941> is bitter<MH4843> to those who drink<MH8354> it. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>The city<MH7151> of chaos<MH8414> is broken<MH7665> down<MH7665>; <t><p class="indent1">Every<MH3605> house<MH1004> is shut<MH5462> up<MH5462> so<MH4480> that<MH4480> no<MH4480> one<MH4480> may enter<MH935>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>There is an outcry<MH6682> in the streets<MH2351> concerning<MH5921> the wine<MH3196>; <t><p class="indent1">All<MH3605> joy<MH8057> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>turns<MH6150> to<MH6150> gloom<MH6150>. <t><p class="indent1">The joy<MH4885> of the earth<MH776> is banished<MH1540>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Desolation<MH8047> is left<MH7604> in the city<MH5892b> <t><p class="indent1">And the gate<MH8179> is battered<MH3807> to ruins<MH7591>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>For so<MH3541> it will be in the midst<MH7130> of the earth<MH776> among<MH8432> the peoples<MH5971a>, <t><p class="indent1">As the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>shaking<MH5363> of an olive<MH2132> tree<MH2132>, <t><p class="indent1">As the gleanings<MH5955> when<MH518> the grape<MH1210> harvest<MH1210> is<MH3615> over<MH3615>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>They raise<MH5375> their voices<MH6963>, they shout<MH7442> for<MH7442> joy<MH7442>; <t><p class="indent1">They cry<MH6670a> out<MH6670a> from the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>west<MH3220> concerning the majesty<MH1347b> of the LORD<MH3068>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Therefore<MH5921, 3651> glorify<MH3513> the LORD<MH3068> in the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>east<MH747a>, <t><p class="indent1">The name<MH8034> of the LORD<MH3068>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478>, <t><p class="indent1">In the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>coastlands<MH339> of the sea<MH3220>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/24-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>From the ends<MH3671> of the earth<MH776> we hear<MH8085> songs<MH2158>: “Glory<MH6643a> to the Righteous<MH6662> One<MH6662>,” <t><p class="indent1">But I say<MH559>, “<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>I am finished<MH7334>! I am finished<MH7334>!
