(AP)</p></div> <p><em>Three quick thoughts from David Price&#8217;s 82-second knockout of Audley Harrison on Saturday night in Liverpool &#8230;</em></p> <p><strong>It didn&#8217;t prove much, but Price did exactly what he needed to do.</strong> The new hope in British heavyweight boxing proved coldly efficient against Harrison, the 2000 Olympic gold medalist whose professional career has failed to realize once-great expectations. A thudding straight right exploded on Harrison&#8217;s chin less than a minute into the fight, triggering a punishing flurry capped by a right hook that sent the 40-year-old crashing to the canvas with a broken nose and concussion. Thus Price (14-0, 12 KOs), who turned pro after winning Olympic bronze in 2008 and captured the vacant British heavyweight title last year, passed the first real challenge of his career &#8212; a devastating showing that required less time than his spine-tingling ringwalk to &#8220;You&#8217;ll Never Walk Alone&#8221; which electrified the sellout crowd of 8,000 at Liverpool&#8217;s Echo Arena. The general thinking is the 29-year-old Price is too raw and inexperienced to challenge Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko, the brothers who collectively rule the division. But given the dearth of fresh challengers at heavyweight and Price&#8217;s formidable size &#8212; at 6-foot-8, 245 pounds, he&#8217;s one of the few contenders who can look <em>down</em> at the champions &#8212; many within boxing are bullish on the Liverpudlian&#8217;s chances to one day inherit the title. &#8220;I think he&#8217;d beat the klitchkos now,&#8221; <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/https://es.twitter.com/realrickyhatton/status/257224977848352768" target="_blank">tweeted Ricky Hatton</a> after the fight.</p> <p><strong>It&#8217;s time for Harrison to retire.</strong> The faded veteran getting served up to the young lion is a tradition as old as boxing itself, and Saturday&#8217;s latest episode was no less cruel. Many had called for Harrison (28-6, 21 KOs) to quit the sport in 2010, after he capitulated so weakly in a third-round knockout loss to David Haye in which he threw just one punch. Those suggestions will only intensify after Harrison was booed from the ring Saturday night, a desultory farewell for a fighter who fell from national hero to figure of public ridicule during a 12-year career marked by mystifying underachievemnt. &#8221;If I lose to David Price, I&#8217;ve got no future,&#8221; Price had said this week. &#8220;It&#8217;s over for me as a professional fighter if I lose to David Price. This is my door. This is the door I have to walk through. This is the last-chance saloon for me and I would not want it any other way.&#8221; After a showing that couldn&#8217;t have been any less competitive, Harrison&#8217;s decision should be easy.</p> <p><b>Price should fight Tyson Fury. </b>Though Price is tentatively slated to return on December 8 against Matt Skelton (who won on Saturday&#8217;s undercard), Frank Maloney, who promotes the Liverpudlian, wasted no time in calling out British compatriot Tyson Fury in the aftermath of Saturday&#8217;s laugher. Maloney offered £500,000 to Fury (19-0, 14 KOs), who last year vacated the British heavyweight title rather than face Price, who was the mandatory challenger. Since then, Fury has appeared to change his tune, prodding Price and campaigning for the bout via social media. (&#8220;He needs to get off the Twitter, stop Twittering and take this fight,&#8221; Maloney said.) Less than an hour later, Fury <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otPiF8_VW6Q" target="_blank">responded in a foul-mouthed TV interview</a> with Channel 5 from ringside during the James DeGale-Hadillah Mohoumadi bout, expressing his willingness to make a fight the public wants to see, one that could potentially fill a stadium in the U.K. &#8220;I&#8217;ll fight David Price any day of the week,&#8221; Fury chirped. &#8220;It&#8217;s personal between me and you and I&#8217;m going to do you some serious harm, you big stiff idiot.&#8221;</p> <p style="text-align:right;"><em><strong>&#8211; Bryan Armen Graham</strong></em></p> <div id="jp-post-flair" class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"></div> <br/> </div> </div> <div class="post-bottom"> <li>Published On <span>Oct 13, 2012</span></li> <li id="right"><span><div><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/13/three-thoughts-from-david-prices-swift-knockout-of-audley-harrison/#respond" title="Comment on Three thoughts from David Price’s swift knockout of Audley Harrison"><span data-lf-article-id="3520" data-lf-site-id="308691" class="livefyre-commentcount">Add A Comment</span></a></div></span></li> </div> </div> <div class="post-wrap"> <div class="post-top"></div> <div class="post" id="post-3461"> <h1><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/10/adrien-broner-stands-by-remarks-that-black-fans-dont-support-black-fighters/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Adrien Broner stands by remarks that black fans don’t support black fighters">Adrien Broner stands by remarks that black fans don&#8217;t support black&nbsp;fighters</a></h1> <div class="category"> <a href="/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/category/boxing/">Boxing</a> | <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/10/adrien-broner-stands-by-remarks-that-black-fans-dont-support-black-fighters/#comment"><span class="js-kit-comments-count" exclude-sources="Twitter" include-sources="Comments" uniq="/2012/10/10/adrien-broner-stands-by-remarks-that-black-fans-dont-support-black-fighters/"></span> Comments </a> </div> <div class="entry"> <div id="cnnSCFontButtons"> <div id="cnnSCFontLabel"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize.gif"/></div> <div id="cnnSCFontMinusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('default'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_d.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_l.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"></div> <div id="cnnSCFontPlusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('LargeFont'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_d.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_l.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"></div> </div> <div id="attachment_3476" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/adrien-broner.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-3476" title="adrien-broner" alt="" src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/adrien-broner.jpg" height="405" width="300"/></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Adrien Broner (above), a former 130-pound champion, is moving up to lightweight to try for a second title in two weight divisions on Nov. 17 against Antonio DeMarco. (AP)</p></div> <p>NEW YORK &#8211; Adrien Broner didn&#8217;t back down from his recent comments that African-American fighters don&#8217;t get enough credit Wednesday at HBO&#8217;s midtown headquarters.</p> <p>The former WBO junior lightweight champion said he was unaware of the backlash stemming from an <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/175087-broner-qits-harder-for-african-american-fighters-to-get-credit" target="_blank">interview with <em>Ring Magazine</em></a>, where he intimated that African-American boxers are held to a harsher standard than fighters of other racial backgrounds.</p> <p>&#8220;I was telling the truth,&#8221; the 23-year-old Broner said. &#8220;It’s something that I know. It’s something that I’ve seen. That’s why I work so hard. One mistake and I can fall so far.&#8221;</p> <p>Broner, who is moving up to fight WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco on Nov. 17 in Atlantic City, said black fighters don&#8217;t enjoy the same brand of unconditional support as fighters from other races.</p> <p>&#8220;African-American [fans], we really don’t follow each other in boxing as much as the Hispanics, the Mexicans, the Puerto Ricans,&#8221; Broner said. &#8220;I’m just saying, they support their fighters. It’s so hard for us to support our own because coming up where we come from, they don’t want to see the next man doing better than them. That’s just how it is. I’m so used to it. I really don’t let it get to me.&#8221;</p> <p>Broner said he was disappointed with how the comments were packaged.</p> <p>&#8220;It’s like a lot of writers do, they mix it up,&#8221; Broner said. &#8221;The way he wrote it up, he was saying it like I was a racist or something.&#8221;</p> <p>Broner (24-0, 20 KOs), who became the youngest American world champion with a third-round knockout of Martin Rodriguez in 2011, has long been considered one of the sport&#8217;s most promising young stars. He drew a 3.4 rating and 1.4 million live viewers for a July 21 knockout of Vincente Escobedo, HBO&#8217;s top-rated <em>Boxing After Dark</em> telecast of 2012. When asked what he could do to improve the disconnect between African-American boxers and fight fans, Broner &#8212; <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://youtu.be/6kpBdK5IFkc" target="_blank">no stranger to Mayweather-style showmanship</a> &#8212; was quick to respond.</p> <p>&#8220;We just have to connect with them,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They want to see excitement. They want to laugh. They don’t want to just go in and see a bloodbath boxing match. They want to be entertained and that’s what I give them. I’m not just a professional boxer, I am a professional entertainer too. I love to entertain.&#8221;</p> <p style="text-align:right;"><em><strong>&#8211; Bryan Armen Graham</strong></em></p> <div id="jp-post-flair" class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"></div> <br/> </div> </div> <div class="post-bottom"> <li>Published On <span>Oct 10, 2012</span></li> <li id="right"><span><div><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/10/adrien-broner-stands-by-remarks-that-black-fans-dont-support-black-fighters/#respond" title="Comment on Adrien Broner stands by remarks that black fans don’t support black fighters"><span data-lf-article-id="3461" data-lf-site-id="308691" class="livefyre-commentcount">Add A Comment</span></a></div></span></li> </div> </div> <div class="post-wrap"> <div class="post-top"></div> <div class="post" id="post-3455"> <h1><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/09/quick-jabs-rios-alvarado-creates-buzz-robert-helenius-returns-more/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Quick jabs: Rios-Alvarado creates buzz, Robert Helenius returns, more">Quick jabs: Rios-Alvarado creates buzz, Robert Helenius returns,&nbsp;more</a></h1> <div class="category"> <a href="/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/category/boxing/">Boxing</a> | <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/09/quick-jabs-rios-alvarado-creates-buzz-robert-helenius-returns-more/#comment"><span class="js-kit-comments-count" exclude-sources="Twitter" include-sources="Comments" uniq="/2012/10/09/quick-jabs-rios-alvarado-creates-buzz-robert-helenius-returns-more/"></span> Comments </a> </div> <div class="entry"> <div id="cnnSCFontButtons"> <div id="cnnSCFontLabel"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize.gif"/></div> <div id="cnnSCFontMinusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('default'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_d.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_l.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"></div> <div id="cnnSCFontPlusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('LargeFont'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_d.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_l.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"></div> </div> <div id="attachment_3456" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/seanie-monaghan.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-3456 " title="seanie-monaghan" src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/seanie-monaghan.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="240"/></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Seanie Monaghan (right), a popular and rugged ticket-seller in the New York City area, could fight Notre Dame alum Mike Lee in the near future. (AP)</p></div> <p>Some quick jabs &#8230;</p> <p>• Promoter Lou DiBella is bringing popular light heavyweight Seanie Monaghan back to headline his next Broadway Boxing show in New York on Oct. 24 against Rayco Saunders. The 31-year old Monaghan (15-0) isn’t really a prospect&#8211;he’s slow and he gets hit a lot&#8211;but he’s a banger and sells a lot of tickets in the Irish community. I asked DiBella recently if he thought there was a big fight out there for Monaghan and he came back with an interesting name: Light heavyweight and Notre Dame grad Mike Lee. DiBella told me he thinks Monaghan-Lee could sell out the Theatre at Madison Square Garden.</p> <p>• Hey, B.J. Flores: Time for a bigger fight.</p> <p>• I’m looking forward to Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado this Saturday night as much as anyone, and Top Rank’s Bob Arum has told me he thinks the winner is a strong candidate to face Manny Pacquiao next year. But that would be a massacre. Rios and Alvarado are wildly entertaining but neither is close to Pacquiao’s level.</p> <p>• Good to see heavyweight prospect Robert Helenius will make his return to the ring next month after a nearly year-long hiatus due to a shoulder injury. Here’s hoping Helenius gets serious about his training. Helenius has the size and killer instinct to be a top heavyweight but his jab is pathetic and Dereck Chisora &#8212; who is not exactly a great boxer either &#8212; beat Helenius up on the inside in his last fight. That jab needs to become a sharp, stinging weapon for Helenius, a la Wladimir Klitschko, or he will never become an elite heavyweight.</p> <p>• Time for Ivan Calderon to retire.</p> <p>• Interesting note I gleaned during my reporting of an item I wrote in <em>Sports Illustrated</em> this week on featherweight Orlando Cruz, who recently announced he was gay. In the aftermath of the announcement, Top Rank attempted to get Cruz out of his Oct. 19 fight against Jorge Pazos so they could match him against top 130-pound prospect Mikey Garcia. If Cruz beats Pazos, he will be a candidate for a significant fight, possibly against Garcia, sometime next year.</p> <p>• On Monday, Top Rank announced the signing of 19-year old Puerto Rican prospect Felix Verdejo. Verdejo, a lightweight, was a member of Puerto Rico’s 2012 Olympic team. He won two fights in London before losing to eventual gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko. Top Rank officials are targeting December for Verdejo’s pro debut.</p> <p style="text-align:right;"><em><strong>&#8211; Chris Mannix</strong></em></p> <div id="jp-post-flair" class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"></div> <br/> </div> </div> <div class="post-bottom"> <li>Published On <span>Oct 09, 2012</span></li> <li id="right"><span><div><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/09/quick-jabs-rios-alvarado-creates-buzz-robert-helenius-returns-more/#respond" title="Comment on Quick jabs: Rios-Alvarado creates buzz, Robert Helenius returns, more"><span data-lf-article-id="3455" data-lf-site-id="308691" class="livefyre-commentcount">Add A Comment</span></a></div></span></li> </div> </div> <div class="post-wrap"> <div class="post-top"></div> <div class="post" id="post-3439"> <h1><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/08/roundtable-does-arturo-gatti-belong-in-the-hall-of-fame/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Roundtable: Does Arturo Gatti belong in the Hall of Fame?">Roundtable: Does Arturo Gatti belong in the Hall of&nbsp;Fame?</a></h1> <div class="category"> <a href="/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/category/boxing/">Boxing</a> | <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/08/roundtable-does-arturo-gatti-belong-in-the-hall-of-fame/#comment"><span class="js-kit-comments-count" exclude-sources="Twitter" include-sources="Comments" uniq="/2012/10/08/roundtable-does-arturo-gatti-belong-in-the-hall-of-fame/"></span> Comments </a> </div> <div class="entry"> <div id="cnnSCFontButtons"> <div id="cnnSCFontLabel"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize.gif"/></div> <div id="cnnSCFontMinusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('default'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_d.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_l.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"></div> <div id="cnnSCFontPlusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('LargeFont'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_d.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_l.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"></div> </div> <p style="text-align:left;"><strong>Arturo Gatti has been included on this year&#8217;s ballot for induction to the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Is Gatti worthy of enshrinement?</strong></p> <p style="text-align:center;"><span class="embed-youtube" style="text-align:center; display: block;"><iframe class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="640" height="390" src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328if_/http://www.youtube.com/embed/P_GctYbPByI?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent" frameborder="0"></iframe></span></p> <p><strong>CHRIS MANNIX:</strong> This is easily the most difficult decision in my years as a voter, and arguably the toughest call in the history of the Hall. On paper, Gatti isn’t worthy. Not even close. He was 40-9 in his 16-year professional career, and though wins and losses are not a true indicator of greatness (sorry, Floyd), Gatti lost whenever he took on the elite (Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya) and lost plenty when he didn’t (Angel Manfredy, Ivan Robinson &#8212; twice &#8212; and Micky Ward). He was never on any reputable pound-for-pound list and didn’t dazzle with any real natural boxing talent.</p> <p>But if ever there were a fighter whose ability to entertain should overshadow any lack of success, it’s Gatti. Gatti was a blood-and-guts warrior, fearless, with the heart of 10 men and the courage of 20. How many times did Gatti pick himself off the canvas after taking a beating that would have put anyone else down for the count? How many times did Gatti come back to win after appearing to have nothing left? Sure, Gatti was often a victim of his own mistakes: He brawled when he should have boxed, hung in when he should have tied up. But for more than a decade he was must-see TV and he gave the sport exciting fights during a time in boxing when there were not enough.</p> <p>Did Arturo Gatti have Hall of Fame talent? No. But the Hall of Fame should be for more than the most skilled. It should be about <em>gravitas</em>, about fighters who lifted the sport up and made it better. And for that reason, Gatti will get my vote.</p> <p><strong>RICHARD O&#8217;BRIEN: </strong>A while back, I included Gatti in my <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/richard_obrien/06/26/thrill.list/index.html" target="_blank">Boxing Thrill List</a>, a rundown of the 10 most exciting fighters of all time, putting him in with the likes of Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey and Muhammad Ali &#8212; champions for whom the “Hall of Fame” designation doesn’t even begin to do justice. But, in naming Gatti to that list, I wrote, “We&#8217;re talking thrills, not necessarily skills, right?” And that’s a key distinction in any question about Hall of Fame inclusion.</p> <p>The immensely likeable Gatti was an electrifying performer, one whose ability to take punishment &#8212; while producing copious amounts of blood (usually his own) &#8212; and bounce back to win bordered on the cartoonish. He took part in four Fights of the Year, and his trilogy with Micky Ward &#8212; particularly the first bout, which Gatti lost &#8212; stands as a truly inspiring (and ridiculously entertaining) example of the warrior spirit.</p> <p>So, was boxing better for having Arturo Gatti around? Certainly. Do we wish there were more fighters like him? Gosh yes. And does he belong in the Hall? No way.</p> <p>A capable boxer when he wanted to be and a solid, if far from devastating, puncher (with, admittedly, a great body attack), Gatti was too slow and too limited defensively to handle the best fighters of his era. His biggest wins were against limited opposition &#8212; Tracy Patterson, Dominique Rodriguez, Gabriel Ruelas, and, of course, Ward &#8212; and in each, Gatti received plenty of punishment. He lost to the likes of Angel Manfredy and Ivan Robinson (twice). The only two truly world-class fighters he faced, Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr., absolutely destroyed him.</p> <p>So no, Arturo Gatti does not belong in the Hall of Fame. But he does belong in the grateful memory of every boxing fan who saw him in bloody action in Convention Hall in Atlantic City. And that’s enshrinement of a sort.</p> <p><strong>BRYAN ARMEN GRAHAM:</strong> The Gatti Question, as this conundrum is bound to be referenced among boxing&#8217;s cognoscenti, strikes at the heart of the subjectivism underpinning Halls of Fame across all sports. Namely, should the governing criterium be ability or iconicism?</p> <p>The agate type of Gatti&#8217;s BoxRec page &#8212; dissected at length above &#8212; may pale in comparison to other enshrinees of his era, but few fighters did more to keep boxing in the American sporting consciousness during the early aughts. The most consistently entertaining pugilist of his generation, Gatti participated in the <em>Ring Magazine</em> Fight of the Year four times in a seven-year span &#8212; his breathtaking come-from-behind knockout of Wilson Rodriguez in 1996 reasonably could have made it five of eight &#8212; drew massive ratings for HBO and electrified the long-dormant fistic outpost of Atlantic City.</p> <p>He was never considered the best of his weight class despite holding two legitimate world titles, but countless fans regard Gatti as their <em>favorite</em> fighter &#8212; in many ways a more invaluable prize than pound-for-pound king. He lost every second of every round against Mayweather the year before Floyd turned heel, but how many paying customers would rather watch the indefatigable Gatti&#8217;s thrill-a-minute pyrotechnics over Pretty Boy&#8217;s peerless defensive exhibitions?</p> <p>When the Class of 2013 is announced in December, the outcome of Gatti&#8217;s candidacy is bound to provoke spirited reaction whether he&#8217;s inducted or passed over. Paradoxically, both sides will be correct. But it says here Gatti is a no-brainer for enshrinement. &#8221;In no other sport can so much take place in so brief a period of time, and so irrevocably,&#8221; wrote Joyce Carol Oates of this brutal trade, a quality no one understood and incorporated better than Gatti, who left us richer for it.</p> <div id="jp-post-flair" class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"></div> <br/> </div> </div> <div class="post-bottom"> <li>Published On <span>Oct 08, 2012</span></li> <li id="right"><span><div><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/08/roundtable-does-arturo-gatti-belong-in-the-hall-of-fame/#comments" title="Comment on Roundtable: Does Arturo Gatti belong in the Hall of Fame?"><span data-lf-article-id="3439" data-lf-site-id="308691" class="livefyre-commentcount">Read 3 Comments</span></a></div></span></li> </div> </div> <div class="post-wrap"> <div class="post-top"></div> <div class="post" id="post-3428"> <h1><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/05/julio-cesar-chavez-jr-says-hes-never-smoked-marijuana-blames-positive-drug-test-on-insomnia-medication/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says he’s never smoked marijuana, blames positive drug test on insomnia medication">Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says he&#8217;s never smoked marijuana, blames positive drug test on insomnia&nbsp;medication</a></h1> <div class="category"> <a href="/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/category/boxing/">Boxing</a> | <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/05/julio-cesar-chavez-jr-says-hes-never-smoked-marijuana-blames-positive-drug-test-on-insomnia-medication/#comment"><span class="js-kit-comments-count" exclude-sources="Twitter" include-sources="Comments" uniq="/2012/10/05/julio-cesar-chavez-jr-says-hes-never-smoked-marijuana-blames-positive-drug-test-on-insomnia-medication/"></span> Comments </a> </div> <div class="entry"> <div id="cnnSCFontButtons"> <div id="cnnSCFontLabel"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize.gif"/></div> <div id="cnnSCFontMinusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('default'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_d.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_l.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"></div> <div id="cnnSCFontPlusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('LargeFont'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_d.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_l.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"></div> </div> <div id="attachment_3433" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/julio-cesar-chavez-jr.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-3433" title="julio-cesar-chavez-jr" src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/julio-cesar-chavez-jr.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="310"/></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. told ESPN Deportes he&#8217;s never smoked marijuana, attributing his positive test for the drugs for insomnia medication that contains cannabis. For years I have had insomnia, so I went to the doctor and he prescribed some drops for me that contained cannabis. I stopped taking them before the fight with [Sergio] Martinez, and I didn&#8217;t think I was going to test positive,&#8221; said Chavez in Spanish from his home in Mexico. &#8220;I have great respect for [WBC president] Jose Sulaiman, I guess what they do is for my good and boxing, but I find it unfair.&#8221;</p> <p>Chavez lost his WBC middleweight title to Martinez in a high-profile fight that attracted 475,000 pay-per-view buys and a $3 million gate. On Thursday, the WBC announced his indefinite suspension and $20,000 fine. The Nevada State Athletic Commission has yet to mete out its punishment.</p> <p>&#8220;Now I hope the opinion of the Commission of Nevada [is positive],&#8221; Chavez continued. &#8220;I hope they realize the truth, that I have not lied about anything, and I hope the punishment won&#8217;t be a heavy one. (AP)</p></div> <p>Some quick jabs &#8230;</p> <p>• I have to admit, I was bitterly disappointed when Golden Boy, on behalf of undefeated heavyweight and former Olympic bronze medalist Deontay Wilder, turned down an offer to fight rising heavyweight prospect Bryant Jennings last week. In case you missed it, Wilder and Jennings have been in a Twitter beef, during which Wilder called Jennings out. Jennings&#8217; promoter, Main Events, responded by offering Wilder the slot opposite Jennings on its next NBC Sports Network show on Dec. 8. Yet Wilder’s team quickly shot it down, saying the money (likely around $25,000, though there was room for negotiation) wasn’t enough for that kind of fight.</p> <p>Now, I understand that a year from now, Wilder-Jennings could be a pretty big fight. But that’s only if both continue their respective ascents. The fact is, neither Wilder or Jennings has fought anyone notable and there is a strong possibility one or both will get beating which would take much of the shine off of a matchup (see: the vaporized Juan Manuel Lopez-Yuri Gamboa megafight). The winner of a showdown in December would take a big step in the heavyweight division, probably vaulting himself up in the rankings and certainly becoming more attractive to the higher-paying premium networks. Unfortunately, Wilder, who frankly has accomplished nothing in his four-year professional career, sees it a little different.</p> <p>• Here&#8217;s why Wladimir Klitschko may never fight in the U.S. again: More than 16,000 tickets have already been sold for Klitschko’s title defense against Marisuz Wach in November in Hamburg, Germany.</p> <p>• Speaking of hot tickets, Top Rank reports that 13,000 seats have already been sold for Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez IV in December. It seems despite the lukewarm response the fight received from pundits, there is still a strong interest from fans to see these two future Hall of Famers in the ring.</p> <p>• Looks like Gennady Golovkin will return to the ring on Dec. 8, when he will defend his WBA middleweight title somewhere in Europe. Golovkin hoped to land an HBO date, but the network is booked solid in December and Golovkin is determined to fight before the end of the year. Main Events lobbied Golovkin hard to fight on either its Dec. 8 or Dec. 22 shows. However Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler, believes he can get a better deal fighting in Europe.</p> <p>• There is some debate over when Wladimir Klitschko owes a mandatory defense of his WBA title. Sauerland Event, which represents WBA &#8220;regular&#8221; titleholder Alexander Povetkin, claims Klitschko must face Povetkin by the end of February. Klitschko’s manager, Bernd Boente, says the fight isn’t due until next July. My opinion: Who cares? Klitschko has chased Povetkin for years and, after Wach, doesn’t have any viable opponents on the horizon. Cut a deal &#8212; March sounds pretty good &#8212; and make the fight.</p> <p>• Sign me up for more Kubrat Pulev. Pulev’s 11th-round knockout of 6-foot-7 Alexander Ustinov on Epix last weekend &#8212; which followed a knockout of 6-foot-7 heavyweight prospect Alexander Dimitrenko before that &#8212; has established the Bulgarian as a legitimate heavyweight contender. Pulev will likely face the winner of Tomasz Adamek-Odlanier Solis in December, with a win positioning him as the IBF’s No. 1 contender for Wladimir Klitschko’s title.</p> <p>• Let me join the chorus of those who think Don King’s $1.1 million purse bid for Chris Arreola-Bermane Stiverne is nuts. Neither Arreola or Stiverne has done much of anything lately, certainly not enough to warrant that type of payday. There is a good chance Arreola-Stiverne on HBO or Showtime but there is no way King is going to get his money back in the license fee. It&#8217;s simply not that significant a fight.</p> <p style="text-align:right;"><em><strong>&#8211; Chris Mannix</strong></em></p> <div id="jp-post-flair" class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"></div> <br/> </div> </div> <div class="post-bottom"> <li>Published On <span>Oct 02, 2012</span></li> <li id="right"><span><div><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/02/quick-jabs-golovkin-eyes-return-pacquiao-marquez-tix-selling-more/#respond" title="Comment on Quick jabs: Golovkin eyes return, Pacquiao-Marquez tix selling, more"><span data-lf-article-id="3394" data-lf-site-id="308691" class="livefyre-commentcount">Add A Comment</span></a></div></span></li> </div> </div> <div class="post-wrap"> <div class="post-top"></div> <div class="post" id="post-3382"> <h1><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/02/manny-pacquiaos-wife-to-run-for-vice-governor-in-2013-elections/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Manny Pacquiao’s wife to run for vice governor in 2013 elections">Manny Pacquiao&#8217;s wife to run for vice governor in 2013&nbsp;elections</a></h1> <div class="category"> <a href="/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/category/boxing/">Boxing</a> | <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/02/manny-pacquiaos-wife-to-run-for-vice-governor-in-2013-elections/#comment"><span class="js-kit-comments-count" exclude-sources="Twitter" include-sources="Comments" uniq="/2012/10/02/manny-pacquiaos-wife-to-run-for-vice-governor-in-2013-elections/"></span> Comments </a> </div> <div class="entry"> <div id="cnnSCFontButtons"> <div id="cnnSCFontLabel"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize.gif"/></div> <div id="cnnSCFontMinusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('default'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_d.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_l.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"></div> <div id="cnnSCFontPlusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('LargeFont'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_d.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_l.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"></div> </div> <div id="attachment_3388" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/jinkee-pacquiao.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-3388 " title="jinkee-pacquiao" src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/jinkee-pacquiao.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="295"/></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Manny Pacquiao smiles alongside wife Jinkee after the husband and wife filed their respective Certificates of Candidacy for next year&#8217;s midterm elections. The formality marked Manny&#8217;s last official political duty before opening an eight-week training camp for his Dec. 8 fight with Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.</p> <p style="text-align:right;"><em><strong>&#8211; Bryan Armen Graham</strong></em></p> <div id="jp-post-flair" class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"></div> <br/> </div> </div> <div class="post-bottom"> <li>Published On <span>Oct 02, 2012</span></li> <li id="right"><span><div><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/10/02/manny-pacquiaos-wife-to-run-for-vice-governor-in-2013-elections/#respond" title="Comment on Manny Pacquiao’s wife to run for vice governor in 2013 elections"><span data-lf-article-id="3382" data-lf-site-id="308691" class="livefyre-commentcount">Add A Comment</span></a></div></span></li> </div> </div> <div class="post-wrap"> <div class="post-top"></div> <div class="post" id="post-3365"> <h1><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/09/28/timothy-bradley-to-defend-welterweight-title-on-dec-15-at-marlins-park/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Timothy Bradley to defend welterweight title on Dec. 15 at Marlins Park">Timothy Bradley to defend welterweight title on Dec. 15 at Marlins&nbsp;Park</a></h1> <div class="category"> <a href="/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/category/boxing/">Boxing</a> | <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/09/28/timothy-bradley-to-defend-welterweight-title-on-dec-15-at-marlins-park/#comment"><span class="js-kit-comments-count" exclude-sources="Twitter" include-sources="Comments" uniq="/2012/09/28/timothy-bradley-to-defend-welterweight-title-on-dec-15-at-marlins-park/"></span> Comments </a> </div> <div class="entry"> <div id="cnnSCFontButtons"> <div id="cnnSCFontLabel"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize.gif"/></div> <div id="cnnSCFontMinusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('default'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_d.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_l.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"></div> <div id="cnnSCFontPlusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('LargeFont'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_d.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_l.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"></div> </div> <div id="attachment_3378" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/bradley-pacquiao.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-3378" title="bradley-pacquiao" src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/bradley-pacquiao.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="330"/></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Timothy Bradley (left) won the WBO welterweight title from Manny Pacquiao (right) in June, handing the Filipino his first loss in more than seven years. (AP)</p></div> <p>Timothy Bradley will defend the WBO welterweight title he won from Manny Pacquiao on Dec. 15 at Marlins Park in Miami.</p> <p>While an opponent has yet to be officially signed for the HBO-televised fight, former welterweight titleholder Andre Berto has emerged as the most probable candidate.</p> <p>&#8220;We&#8217;re trying to lock in Berto,&#8221; Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told SI.com on Friday. &#8220;HBO is working on it right now. If all things come together over the next couple days that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re looking at.&#8221;</p> <p>Bradley (29-0-0, 12 KOs), currently No. 8 in <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/mma/boxing/pound-for-pound-ratings/index.html" target="_blank">SI.com&#8217;s pound-for-pound ratings</a>, won a highly controversial split decision over Pacquiao on June 9 to capture the title. The Palm Springs, Calif., native has since recovered from injuries to his left foot and right ankle sustained in the fight.</p> <p>&#8220;From a dates point of view it works out OK for him,&#8221; Moretti said.</p> <p>Berto (28-1-0, 22 KOs) won the WBC welterweight title with a technical knockout of Miguel Angel Rodriguez in June 2008, making five successful defenses before losing it to Victor Ortiz in April 2011. That bout was widely regarded as a Fight of the Year candidate, prompting a much-anticipated rematch scheduled for June 23 in Los Angeles.</p> <p>But the Miami native tested positive for the steroid norandrosterone in May and was dropped from the card. Berto has since had his license reinstated by the California State Athletic Commission.</p> <p>Interestingly, Bradley and Berto faced off previously at the 2003 National Golden Gloves championships in Las Vegas, where <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://twitpic.com/az6qda" target="_blank">Berto earned a unanimous decision</a> in the junior middleweight final to win a national title and place in the Olympic trials.</p> <p style="text-align:right;"><em><strong>&#8211; Bryan Armen Graham</strong></em></p> <div id="jp-post-flair" class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"></div> <br/> </div> </div> <div class="post-bottom"> <li>Published On <span>Sep 28, 2012</span></li> <li id="right"><span><div><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/09/28/timothy-bradley-to-defend-welterweight-title-on-dec-15-at-marlins-park/#comments" title="Comment on Timothy Bradley to defend welterweight title on Dec. 15 at Marlins Park"><span data-lf-article-id="3365" data-lf-site-id="308691" class="livefyre-commentcount">Read 1 Comment</span></a></div></span></li> </div> </div> <div class="post-wrap"> <div class="post-top"></div> <div class="post" id="post-3356"> <h1><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/09/25/quick-jabs-victor-ortiz-eyes-freddie-roach-gabriel-rosados-rise-more/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Quick jabs: Victor Ortiz eyes Freddie Roach, Gabriel Rosado’s rise, more">Quick jabs: Victor Ortiz eyes Freddie Roach, Gabriel Rosado&#8217;s rise,&nbsp;more</a></h1> <div class="category"> <a href="/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/category/boxing/">Boxing</a> | <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://mma-boxing.si.com/2012/09/25/quick-jabs-victor-ortiz-eyes-freddie-roach-gabriel-rosados-rise-more/#comment"><span class="js-kit-comments-count" exclude-sources="Twitter" include-sources="Comments" uniq="/2012/09/25/quick-jabs-victor-ortiz-eyes-freddie-roach-gabriel-rosados-rise-more/"></span> Comments </a> </div> <div class="entry"> <div id="cnnSCFontButtons"> <div id="cnnSCFontLabel"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize.gif"/></div> <div id="cnnSCFontMinusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('default'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_d.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_minus_l.gif" alt="Decrease font" title="Decrease font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"></div> <div id="cnnSCFontPlusBtn" onclick="setActiveStyleSheet2('LargeFont'); return false;"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_d.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnIncreaseFont"><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.element/img/4.0/story/textsize_plus_l.gif" alt="Enlarge font" title="Enlarge font" class="cnnDecreaseFont"></div> </div> <div id="attachment_3359" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 308px"><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/victor-ortiz.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-3359 " title="victor-ortiz" src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121014191328im_/http://sicounterpunch.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/victor-ortiz.jpg" alt="" width="298" height="303"/></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Former welterweight champ Victor Ortiz (above), who is coming off back-to-back knockout losses, could be pairing with Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach. (AP)</p></div> <p>Some quick jabs &#8230;</p> <p>• Victor Ortiz, who parted ways with longtime trainer Danny Garcia after last June’s loss to Josesito Lopez, has reached out to Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach. Roach says he will meet with Ortiz once the former welterweight titleholder recovers from the broken jaw he suffered against Lopez.</p> <p>• With Emanuel Steward battling a serious illness, Wladimir Klitschko will begin training camp for his Nov. 10 heavyweight title defense against Mariusz Wach without a chief cornerman. Klitschko’s manager, Bernd Boente, says that Klitschko is hoping Steward will be able to join camp in late October and work his corner for the fight.</p> <p>• A dark horse candidate to face super middleweight kingpin Andre Ward: Denis Grachev, who will face Lucian Bute in November. Grachev (12-0) is coming off a stunning knockout win over top prospect Ismayl Sillakh last April. If Grachev beats Bute, he will likely become a very appealing possibility for Ward.</p> <p>• I still think Kelly Pavlik is the most realistic big-name opponent for Ward.</p> <p>• Miguel Cotto picked a dangerous tune-up opponent in Austin Trout. Trout isn’t exciting &#8212; his win over Delvin Rodriguez in June was as dull as it was decisive &#8212; but he is slick and savvy in the ring. If Trout isn’t overwhelmed by the moment, he has a great chance at an upset.</p> <p>• What a wasted year this has been for Gary Russell Jr. For Andre Dirrell, too.</p> <p>• While Cornelius Bundrage’s IBF junior middleweight title defense against Andre Berto isn’t done yet, I’m told it’s very close to being finalized for Nov. 24 on HBO. On paper, Berto, who has not fought in over a year after testing positive for a banned substance during training for his scheduled rematch against Victor Ortiz, would appear to be a big favorite. But Berto will be moving up in weight to face Bundrage, whose aggressive, awkward style could give Berto problems.</p> <p>• The winner of Berto-Bundrage will be obligated to defend the title against Gabriel Rosado, who earned the position of mandatory challenger with a knockout win over Charles Whittaker last Friday. A year ago, high-profile opponents would have done everything they could to avoid Rosado. But because Rosado’s profile has risen considerably on the heels of three straight knockout wins on NBC Sports Network &#8212; wins that have sparked interest from the better paying premium networks &#8212; expect him to get that shot early next year.</p> <p>• I like Main Events plan to focus on moving fighters up the IBF rankings. The IBF is regarded as the most respectable of the sanctioning bodies, which is to say if a fighter is ranked No. 1, he is going to get his title shot.</p> <p>• Ricky Hatton has sold more than 18,000 tickets to his comeback fight in November &#8212; and he doesn’t even have an opponent yet. Incredible.</p> <p>• Roy Jones-Kimbo Slice? Pass. Pass, pass, pass.</p> <p>• Thoughts and prayers are with the family of former heavyweight champion Corrie Sanders, who according to police was shot and killed while celebrating a family member’s 21st birthday party in Cape Town, South Africa. Sanders was 46.</p> <p style="text-align:right;"><em><strong>&#8211; Chris Mannix</strong></em></p> <div id="jp-post-flair" class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"></div> <br/> </div> </div> <div
