<A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Or, do you despise the riches of His kindness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God is leading you to repentance? <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>but, after your hardness and impenitent heart, you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God, <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Who will render to every man according to his works; <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>to those who, by patience in well-doing, are seeking for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life; <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>but to those who are contentious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, <i>there shall be</i> wrath and indignation, <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that works evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek; <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>but glory and honor and peace to every one who works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek: <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>for there is no respect of persons with God;<p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>for as many as sinned without law shall also perish without law; and as many as sinned under law shall be judged by law; <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>for not the hearers of law <i>are</i> righteous before God, but the doers shall be justified; <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>(for, when gentiles who have no law do by nature the things of <i>the</i> law, these, having no law, are a law to themselves; <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>who, indeed, show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying with <i>it</i>, and between one another their thoughts accusing or even excusing <i>them</i>;) <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>in <i>the</i> day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my Gospel, through Jesus Christ,<p> <A name="18"></a><p class="hdg">The Jews and the Law<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>But, if you are called a Jew, and are resting upon <i>the</i> law, and are boasting in God, <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>and understand <i>His</i> will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>and have become confident that you are a guide of <i>the</i> blind, a light to those in darkness, <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>an instructor of <i>the</i> foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth; <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span><i>you</i>, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? <i>You</i> who preach that <i>men</i> should not steal, do you steal? <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><i>You</i> who say that <i>one</i> should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? <i>You</i> who abhor idols, do you rob temples? <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span><i>You</i> who boast in law, do you dishonor God through <i>your</i> transgression of the law? <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>For the name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles, because of you, as it has been written.<p> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>For circumcision, indeed, profits, if you do <i>the</i> law; but, if you are transgressors of <i>the</i> law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>If, therefore, the uncircumcision keep the ordinances of the law, shall not his uncircumcision he reckoned for circumcision? <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And shall not the uncircumcision <i>that is</i> by nature, if it fulfills the law, judge you, with the letter and circumcision, <i>to be</i> a transgressor of <i>the</i> law?
