<p><strong>For the seventh consecutive year, Found.ation, with the support of <a href="https://www.eitdigital.eu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EIT Digital</a> published the Digital Transformation in Greece report, unveiling intriguing aspects of digital transformation in Greek businesses.</strong></p> <p>The report is based on research involving the participation of <strong>100 executives</strong> from medium and large enterprises across various sectors. It examines the extent to which companies and major organizations in the private and public sectors in Greece have adopted digital transformation processes, as well as the challenges and difficulties they face. It also includes opinion articles from company executives such as <strong>Cardlink</strong>, <strong>Grapevine Digital</strong>, <strong>Up Hellas</strong>,<strong> Microsoft</strong>,<strong> Korr</strong>, as well as the <strong>Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou</strong>, highlighting the digital progress achieved in Greece, and the <strong>Mayor of Naxos and the Small Cyclades, Dimitris Lianos.</strong></p> <p>Some <strong>key findings</strong> from the research:</p> <ul> <li><strong>74%</strong> of directors use <strong>artificial intelligence</strong> tools primarily to work faster or generate new ideas, while only <strong>2%</strong> find artificial intelligence <strong>frightening or threatening</strong> to their work.</li> <li><strong>Less than half (43%)</strong> believe that their company’s <strong>Board of Directors</strong> has a good understanding of digital trends and technologies.</li> <li>Greek companies recognize the<strong> importance of emerging technologies</strong>, but the <strong>absence of a Board of Directors</strong> with vision or a specific role leading transformation efforts often delays progress.</li> <li><strong>Three out of four key ways</strong> to promote innovation in an organization are considered to come from internal sources (employee idea development programs, internal workshops, innovation departments), with collaborations with startups and the academic community ranking third.</li> <li><strong>30%</strong> of respondents believe that skills related to <strong>innovation (analytical/design thinking, customer experience, problem-solving)</strong> should be a priority for their employees, with productivity-related skills ranking second.</li> <li><strong>More than half of management (53%)</strong> believe that retaining existing human resources and upgrading their skills is more important than digitization.</li> <li>The two most important technologies for Greek companies are<strong> AI/Machine Learning</strong> and<strong> Big Data Analytics.</strong></li> <li>Difficulty in finding qualified human resources is considered the second-ranked risk for development<strong> in the next 5-10 years,</strong> with economic instability ranking first.</li> <li><strong>73%</strong> of respondents believe that the hybrid work system either improves or minimally affects productivity.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Found.ation’s Proposals for 2024</strong></h3> <p>New technologies and digital transition have already changed the landscape in both the public and private sectors. Businesses are turning to the adoption of emerging technologies such as AI (especially Generative AI), influencing their structure, operations, and ESG strategies. To effectively harness AI and new technologies, employees at all levels must acquire new skills, and the organizational structure and culture of businesses must change.</p> <p>Companies should focus their efforts on becoming more adaptive (Adaptive Organization), with key characteristics being technology utilization (#tech_powered), human-centricity (#people_driven), impactfulness (#impactful), and innovation (#open_to_innovation). Every company must recognize the importance of continuous learning and provide ample opportunities for employees to enhance their skills and stay updated on the latest technological developments. Successful businesses of the future must be characterized by adaptability, flexibility, and innovation.</p> <p>The footprint of businesses is also crucial, and through innovation, value can be generated for the companies themselves, their employees, and the ecosystem as a whole. Open Innovation is a mechanism that allows organizations to produce successful products and services either by using their own resources or by building meaningful collaborations with the broader ecosystem. Therefore, innovation can be discovered, acquired, created, or co-created depending on what best suits each company’s needs.</p> <p><em>“In the global arena of modern business, open innovation has emerged as a powerful driver of transformation, encouraging companies to look beyond their internal boundaries.
