href="http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/241/2016/0/pt/html" rel="noopener" target="_blank">http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/241/2016/0/pt/html<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a>.</p> <p>On the 27th of July 2017, Portugal implemented Pillar II of the European Legislation Identifier (ELI) at the level of the official journal <i>Diário da República</i> and legal acts, in accordance with the <a href="http://publications.europa.eu/mdr/resource/eli/eli_ontology.xlsx" rel="noopener" target="_blank">metadata ELI ontology<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a>, version 1.1.</p> <p>The ELI is applied to all types of legal acts published in the official journal <i>Diário da República</i>, 1st series, as of January 2, 1991, the date from which <a href="http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/1/144/2017/0/pt/html" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Decree-Law No. 1/91<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a> has determined the identification of all the legal acts by a proper number and the date of publication.</p> <p>The Portuguese official journal can be accessed on <a href="https://dre.pt/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">https://dre.pt/<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a>.</p> <h3>Short explanatory note</h3> <p> <strong>Between January 2, 1991</strong> (pursuant to <a href="http://data.dre.pt/eli/dec-lei/1/1991/01/02/p/dre/pt/html" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Decree-Law 1/91<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a> and the original version of <a href="http://data.dre.pt/eli/lei/74/1998/11/11/p/dre/pt/html" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Law No. 74/98<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a>) <strong>and June 30, 2006</strong>, the first series of the official journal <i>Diário da República</i> was divided into two Parts: <ul> <li> <strong>Part A</strong> (see for example <a href="http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/1a/125/2006/0/pt/html" rel="noopener" target="_blank">http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/1a/125/2006/0/pt/html<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> target="_blank">http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/1b/125/2006/0/pt/html<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a>).</li> </ul> </p> <p>However, article 3 of Law 26/2006, of June 30 (<a href="http://data.dre.pt/eli/lei/26/2006/06/30/p/dre/pt/html" rel="noopener" target="_blank">http://data.dre.pt/eli/lei/26/2006/06/30/p/dre/pt/html<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a>), revoked the division of the first series of the <i>Diário da República</i> in Part A and in Part B in stating that the <i>Diário da República</i> comprised only the first and the second series as of July 2006.</p> <p>Therefore,</p> <p>As of July 3, 2006, <a href="http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/1/126/2006/0/pt/html" rel="noopener" target="_blank">http://data.dre.pt/eli/diario/1/126/2006/0/pt/html<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i> </a>, the first series of the official journal began to be published without the division into two Parts.</p> <p>Below we present twelve examples of URI patterns for the official journal <i>Diário da República</i> for illustration of this explanatory note.</p> <h3>PILAR I</h3>
