With your Workspace, you can:</p> <ul> <li>Save what you find on JSTOR, including articles, book chapters, images, and primary source materials to revisit anytime</li> <li> <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/4758026557847">Organize your research</a> with folders</li> <li>Add your own notes to items you've saved</li> <li> <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/4758389031703">Export your research</a> as reference lists or presentations</li> <li> <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/5377264237079">Present your research</a> in full screen mode</li> <li> <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/4759770620823">Share folders</a> with other members of your institution</li> </ul> <h2 id="view_workspace">Viewing your Workspace</h2> <p>There are a few different ways to go to your Workspace on JSTOR.</p> <p>You must first have a <a href="https://support.jstor.org/hc/en-us/articles/115004760028-How-to-register-get-free-access-to-content">registered JSTOR account</a> and be logged into your account. If you're not logged in, you'll be prompted to register or log in.</p> <p><img src="/hc/article_attachments/12908699253015" alt="Workspace link in main navigation bar"></p> <ul> <li>Select <strong>Workspace</strong> in the main navigation at the top of the page.</li> <li>Or hover over the <strong>Tools</strong> menu in the main navigation at the top of the page, and select <strong>Workspace</strong> in the drop-down menu.</li> <li>Or select the <strong>Workspace</strong> link in the notification pop-up that appears after after you save an item.</li> </ul> <h2 id="saving_items">Saving items to your Workspace</h2> <p><iframe src="//www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/k5XvlWGGHtE" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></p> <h3 id="save-from-item-page">When viewing an item</h3> <p><img src="/hc/article_attachments/20413768832151" alt="Save button menu on the item page highlighting the quick save and save image detail view options"></p> <p>To save an item when viewing the item page:</p> <ol> <li>Click the <strong>Save</strong> button. <ul> <li>If you don't have a <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/115004760028">personal JSTOR account</a> or aren't logged in, you'll be prompted to register or log in.</li> </ul> </li> <li>In the <strong>Save to...</strong> menu, you can select an existing folder you'd like the item saved to or create a new folder by clicking the <strong>Create Folder</strong> button.<br> <ul> <li>Your three most recently-modified folders will be displayed under <strong>Recent Folders</strong>.</li> <li>To view the subfolders within a folder, click the arrow button after the folder name.</li> <li>You can also search for a folder or subfolder in your Workspace using the search bar at the top of the menu.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Optionally, check the <strong>Save current zoom</strong> option to save an <a href="#save-image-detail">image detail view</a>. <ul> <li>This option appears when you have zoomed in on the image in the image viewer.</li> <li>For compound objects (multiple images associated with the same record), this option will only be available for the first image in the object's sequence.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Click the <strong>Save</strong> button after the folder name to save the item to a folder. Or select <strong>Workspace</strong> and click the <strong>Save</strong> button at the bottom of the menu to save the item to your Workspace without placing it in a folder.</li> </ol> <h4 id="save-image-detail">Saving image detail views</h4> <p><iframe title="YouTube video player" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/nFfnDLAzggg?si=CmPaLzO6Ilb8ntPO" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share"></iframe></p> <p>When viewing images on JSTOR, you can zoom in on one or more parts of the image and save those zoomed views to your Workspace. These are known as image details, and they can be helpful when teaching with images. For example:</p> <ul> <li>Creating a <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/4759770620823">shared folder</a> featuring the full image and various details of that image.</li> <li>Presenting multiple details of an image side by side using <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/1500000835181">Compare Mode</a>.</li> <li> <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/4758389031703">Exporting image details</a> in your Workspace to separate slides in a PowerPoint presentation.</li> </ul> <p>To save an image detail, zoom in on an image in the image viewer, click the <strong>Save</strong> button, and check the <strong>Save current zoom</strong> option.</p> <p>For compound objects (multiple images associated with the same record), please note that this option will only be available for the first image in the object's sequence.</p> <p><img src="/hc/article_attachments/20417770947735" alt="An image detail item in Workspace with thumbnail zoomed to the saved view" width="600px"></p> <p>Image details in your Workspace will have "Detail of..." prepended to their name by default, and the item thumbnail will be zoomed to the saved view. Clicking on an image detail to view the item will automatically zoom the image viewer to the saved view.</p> <h3 id="save-from-search-results">From your search results</h3> <p>When searching on JSTOR, you can save one or more items to your Workspace directly from the search results page.</p> <p><img src="/hc/article_attachments/12908698033815" alt="Save buttons for an image and article on the search results page"></p> <p>To save a single item, click the <strong>Save</strong> button next to the item. For images, this is in the corner of the image thumbnail.</p> <p>Or to save multiple items in bulk:</p> <ol> <li>Select the checkboxes next to the items you'd like to save.<br> <ul> <li>You can select images, text items, or a combination of both.</li> <li>You can save up to 250 items at a time.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Once you've selected all your items, click the <strong>Save</strong> button at the top of the search results page. <ul> <li>If you don't have a <a href="/hc/en-us/articles/115004760028">personal JSTOR account</a> or aren't logged in, you'll be prompted to register or log in.</li> </ul> </li> <li>In the <strong>Save to...</strong> menu, you can select an existing folder you'd like the items saved to or create a new folder by clicking the <strong>Create Folder</strong> button.<br> <ul> <li>Your three most recently-modified folders will be displayed under <strong>Recent Folders</strong>.</li> <li>To view the subfolders within a folder, click the arrow button after the folder name.</li> <li>You can also search for a folder or subfolder in your Workspace using the search bar at the top of the menu.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Click the <strong>Save</strong> button after the folder name to save the items to a folder.
