<t><p class="indent1">And behold<MH2009>, he is eating<MH398>; <t><p class="indent1">But when he awakens<MH7019a>, his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>hunger<MH5315> is not satisfied<MH7386>, <t><p class="indent1">Or as when<MH3512c> a thirsty<MH6771> person<MH6771> dreams<MH2492b>&#8212; <t><p class="indent1">And behold<MH2009>, he is drinking<MH8354>, <t><p class="indent1">But when he awakens<MH7019a>, behold<MH2009>, he is faint<MH5889> <t><p class="indent1">And his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>thirst<MH5315> is not quenched<MH8264>. <t><p class="indent1">So<MH3651> will the multitude<MH1995> of all<MH3605> the nations<MH1471> be <t><p class="indent1">Who wage<MH6633> war<MH6633> against<MH5921> Mount<MH2022> Zion<MH6726>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/29-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Be delayed<MH4102> and horrified<MH8539>, <t><p class="indent1">Blind<MH8173a> yourselves and be blind<MH8173a>; <t><p class="indent1">They become<MH7937> drunk<MH7937>, but not with wine<MH3196>, <t><p class="indent1">They stagger<MH5128>, but not with intoxicating<MH7941> drink<MH7941>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/29-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>For the LORD<MH3068> has poured<MH5258a> over<MH5921> you a spirit<MH7307> of deep<MH8639> sleep<MH8639>, <t><p class="indent1">He has shut<MH6105b> your eyes<MH5869>&#8212;the prophets<MH5030>; <t><p class="indent1">And He has covered<MH3680> your heads<MH7218>&#8212;the seers<MH2374>. <A><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/29-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>The entire<MH3605> vision<MH2380> will be to you like the words<MH1697> of a sealed<MH2856> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>book<MH5612>, which<MH834>, when they give<MH5414> it to the one who <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>is literate<MH3045, 5612>, saying<MH559>, &#8220;Please<MH4994> read<MH7121> this<MH2088>,&#8221; he will say<MH559>, &#8220;I cannot<MH3201, 3808>, because<MH3588> it is sealed<MH2856>.&#8221; <span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/29-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>book<MH5612> will be given<MH5414> to the one who<MH834> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>is illiterate<MH3808, 3045, 5612>, saying<MH559>, &#8220;Please<MH4994> read<MH7121> this<MH2088>.&#8221; And he will say<MH559>, &#8220;I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>cannot<MH3808> read<MH3045, 5612>.&#8221; <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/29-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Then the Lord<MH136> said<MH559>, <p class="indent1stline">&#8220;Because<MH3282, 3588> this<MH2088> people<MH5971a> approaches<MH5066> <i>Me</i> with their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>words<MH6310> <t><p class="indent1">And honors<MH3513> Me with their lips<MH8193>, <t><p class="indent1">But their heart<MH3820> is<MH7368> far<MH7368> away<MH7368> from Me, <t><p class="indent1">And their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>reverence<MH3372a> for Me <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>consists<MH1961> of <i>the</i> commandment<MH4687> of men<MH376> that is taught<MH3925>;
