Kohlendioxidfreie Ersatzstoffe werden der Schlüssel zur vollständigen CO2-Eliminierung sein.</p> <p>Trotz kritischer Bemühungen um eine Ausweitung der Elektrifizierung deuten einige Prognosen darauf hin, dass Brennstoffe bis Mitte des Jahrhunderts immer noch ein Viertel des Endenergiebedarfs decken könnten. Die Seeschifffahrt, der Schwerlastverkehr, die industrielle Hochtemperatur-Prozesswärme, die Eisenerzeugung, die Langzeit-Energiespeicherung und die Luftfahrt sind besonders schwer zu elektrifizieren This work has included expert convening, white papers and reports on technology, infrastructure, and policy, and Congressional testimony.</p> <p>Als Mitinitiator der <a href="https://www.carbonfreetech.org/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carbon-Free Technology Initiative</a> arbeitete CATF zusammen mit US-Stromversorgern und anderen Nichtregierungsorganisationen an einer Reihe von bundespolitischen Vorschlägen, die die kommerzielle Verfügbarkeit von erschwinglichen, kohlenstofffreien, rund um die Uhr verfügbaren Energietechnologien bis Anfang der 2030er Jahre sicherstellen sollen, um die Netto-Null-Kohlenstoffreduktionsverpflichtungen in den USA zu unterstützen.</p> <p>CATF war hinter den Kulissen tätig, um Nichtregierungsorganisationen, Gesetzgeber und führende Industrievertreter darüber aufzuklären, wie wichtig es ist, sich bei den Bemühungen um die CO2-Eliminierung Optionen offenzzuhalten – und dass es dringend notwendig ist, jetzt kohlenstofffreie Kraftstoffe zu entwickeln, damit wir diese Optionen in Zukunft nutzen können. Wir klären die beteiligten Akteure auf, geben regelmäßig Denkanstöße zum Potenzial kohlenstofffreier Kraftstoffe für die CO2-Eliminierung schwer zu elektrifizierender Sektoren und setzen uns energisch für pragmatische Ansätze zur Verbreitung kohlenstofffreier Technologien ein. Unsere Bemühungen haben dazu geführt, dass die Unterstützung für kohlenstofffreie Kraftstoffe und Wasserstoff-Hubs in wichtige politische Maßnahmen sowohl in den USA als auch in Europa einbezogen wurde.</p> <p>In Europa setzte sich CATF für die Aufnahme rechtlich verbindlicher Anforderungen für die Entwicklung einer kohlenstofffreien Tank-Infrastruktur in die Überarbeitung der Richtlinie über die Infrastruktur für alternative Kraftstoffe (AFID) ein. Darüber hinaus forderte CATF, dass die Rechtsvorschriften in eine Verordnung (statt in eine Richtlinie) umgewandelt werden, um eine sofortige Umsetzung nach der Verabschiedung zu gewährleisten. Im Juli 2021 wurde der überarbeitete Gesetzesvorschlag veröffentlicht. Er enthielt verbindliche Anforderungen an die Tank-Infrastruktur und ist nun eine Verordnung.</p> <p>CATF setzt sich im Rahmen von Fit for 55, der Überarbeitung der europäischen Klimapolitik, dafür ein, dass in den überarbeiteten Rechtsvorschriften, einschließlich der Überarbeitung der Gasverordnung und -richtlinie, die den entstehenden ZCF-Gasmarkt in Europa regeln werden, ein Ansatz gewählt wird, der technologische Optionen offenlässt.
