Zu seinen Forschungsinteressen gehören Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) für kardiovaskuläre Erkrankungen, einschließlich Deep Learning, und die Verarbeitung medizinischer Aufnahmen. Xu hat bereits mehrfach als Wissenschaftler in den USA und Kanada gearbeitet. Die Bewerber:innen wenden sich hierfür mit einem eigenen Vorhaben oder Thema an die Forschungseinrichtung. An dieser können sie bei einer Zusage mithilfe des Stipendiums etwa zwischen sechs und 24 Monate lang forschen. Die Stipendiat:innen erhalten unter anderem eine monatliche finanzielle Unterstützung sowie einen Sprachkurs.</p></p> </section> </div> </div> <p><p class="mb-4"></p><h3 class="font-bold text-lg mb-2 lg:text-xl lg:mb-3 xl:text-2xl">Wie möchten Sie Ihre Zeit als Gastforscher bei AMBIOM verbringen?</h3><p class="mb-4"><strong class="font-semibold">Xu: </strong>Ich werde die meiste Zeit mit Dr. Jianxu Chen und seinem Team zusammenarbeiten, um effiziente KI für die Segmentierung biomedizinischer Aufnahmen zu erforschen. Ich werde auch einige Zeit damit verbringen, die anderen Forschungsgruppen am ISAS und die Partnerkliniken zu besuchen. Kooperation und Vernetzung sind für wissenschaftliche Aktivitäten und Forschung wichtig.</p><h3 class="font-bold text-lg mb-2 lg:text-xl lg:mb-3 xl:text-2xl">Wie steht Deutschland Ihrer Meinung nach im internationalen Vergleich da, wenn es um KI in der Gesundheitsforschung geht?</h3><p class="mb-4"><strong class="font-semibold">Xu: </strong>Erstens, was die Industrie betrifft, ist Deutschland im medizinischen Bereich mit einer Gruppe berühmter Unternehmen wie Siemens und Bayer ganz vorne mit dabei. Und ich glaube, dass diese Spitzenunternehmen der Medizinbranche bald zu den Vorreitern der KI in der Gesundheitsforschung gehören werden. Zweitens: Auf der Forschungsseite ist zum Beispiel nnU-Net das führende Tool für die Bildsegmentierung. Es ist das derzeit bekannteste KI-Framework, das von einer Gruppe von Forschenden des Deutschen Krebsforschungszentrums, DKFZ, vorgelegt wurde. Obwohl die Zahl der wissenschaftlichen Publikationen aus Deutschland im Vergleich zur Zahl der Veröffentlichungen aus anderen Ländern nicht so hoch ist, ist die Qualität beeindruckend.
