Generally, mobile base stations are existing in huge numbers in populated areas than in non-populated ones to serve the largest number of users. The total number of mobile subscriptions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reached around 50 million at the end of 2014, with a penetration rate of 165.1% according to the quarterly electronic newsletter issued by the Communications and Information Technology Commission. The current investigation was conducted primarily to measure the level of electromagnetic fields emitted from 400 mobile base stations for the purpose of environmental safety and radiation protection in light of national guidelines for public exposure as well as the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). The outcomes of this investigation provide valuable comments and recommendation for safety and protection of electromagnetic fields emitted from mobile base stations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electromagnetic%20fields" title="electromagnetic fields">electromagnetic fields</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile" title=" mobile"> mobile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety" title=" safety"> safety</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protection" title=" protection"> protection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ICNIRP" title=" ICNIRP"> ICNIRP</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19994/environmental-impact-assessment-of-electromagnetic-fields-emitted-from-mobile-base-station-in-central-area-of-ksa" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19994.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">421</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7571</span> Application of Statistical Linearized Models for Investigations of Digital Dynamic Pulse-Frequency Control Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B.%20H.%20Aitchanov">B. Currently, the control law based on DPFM control signals is widely used in direct digital control subsystems introduced in the automated control systems of technological processes. Statistical analysis of automatic control systems is reduced to its construction of functional relationships between the statistical characteristics of the errors processes and input processes. Structural and dynamic Volterra models of digital pulse-frequency control systems can be used to develop methods for generating the dependencies, differing accuracy, requiring the amount of information about the statistical characteristics of input processes and computing labor intensity of their use. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20dynamic%20pulse-frequency%20control%20systems" title="digital dynamic pulse-frequency control systems">digital dynamic pulse-frequency control systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20pulse-frequency%20modulation" title=" dynamic pulse-frequency modulation"> dynamic pulse-frequency modulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=control%20object" title=" control object"> control object</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=discrete%20filter" title=" discrete filter"> discrete filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impulse%20device" title=" impulse device"> impulse device</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microcontroller" title=" microcontroller"> microcontroller</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13825/application-of-statistical-linearized-models-for-investigations-of-digital-dynamic-pulse-frequency-control-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13825.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">495</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7570</span> Relationship between Age, Gender, Anthropometrics Characteristics and Dynamic Balance in Children Age Group between 5 to 12 Years Old at Anand City, Gujarat</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dhruveshi%20B.%20Rana">Dhruveshi B. Method: Cross-sectional study was conducted. 150 school going children of 5-12 (75-girls, 75-boys) years were recruited from the school of the Anand city-Shivam English Medium school, Veer Vithalbhai Patel school, Adarsh Primary school. Height, weight, arm length, and foot length were measured in 150 children of 5 to 12 years. Dynamic balance was assessed using Time Up and Go Test, Functional Reach Test, Pediatric Balance Scale. Results: Positive relationship (r = 0.58 and r= 0.77) were found between increasing age and FRT and PBS scores. A negative relationship (r = - 0.46) was observed between age of boys and TUG test. Significant gender by age group difference was observed in FRT. Arm length and height has the strongest influence on FRT, and age, height, foot length; and arm length has the strongest influence on PBS. Conclusions: Age and arm length have the strongest relationship with the dynamic balance (FRT, PBS). Dynamic balance ability is directly related to the age. It helps the pediatric therapists in selecting dynamic balance test according to the age. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=age" title="age">age</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gender" title=" gender"> gender</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anthropometric" title=" anthropometric"> anthropometric</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20balance" title=" dynamic balance"> dynamic balance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70907/relationship-between-age-gender-anthropometrics-characteristics-and-dynamic-balance-in-children-age-group-between-5-to-12-years-old-at-anand-city-gujarat" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70907.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">295</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7569</span> Dynamic Variation in Nano-Scale CMOS SRAM Cells Due to LF/RTS Noise and Threshold Voltage </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Fadlallah">M. In this paper, the effect of low-frequency and random telegraph noise on the dynamic variation of one SRAM cell is detailed. The effect on circuit noise, speed, and length of time of processing is examined, using the Supply Read Retention Voltage and the Read Static Noise Margin. New test run methods are also developed. The obtained results simulation shows the importance of noise caused by dynamic variation, and the impact of Random Telegraph noise on SRAM variability is examined by evaluating the statistical distributions of Random Telegraph noise amplitude in the pull-up, pull-down. The threshold voltage mismatch between neighboring cell transistors due to intrinsic fluctuations typically contributes to larger reductions in static noise margin. Also the contribution of each of the SRAM transistor to total dynamic variation has been identified. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low-frequency%20noise" title="low-frequency noise">low-frequency noise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=random%20telegraph%20noise" title=" random telegraph noise"> random telegraph noise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20variation" title=" dynamic variation"> dynamic variation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SRRV" title=" SRRV"> SRRV</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95313/dynamic-variation-in-nano-scale-cmos-sram-cells-due-to-lfrts-noise-and-threshold-voltage" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95313.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">176</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7568</span> Fault Diagnosis in Induction Motors Using the Discrete Wavelet Transform </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khaled%20Yahia">Khaled Yahia </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper deals with the problem of stator faults diagnosis in induction motors. Using the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for the current Park’s vector modulus (CPVM) analysis, the inter-turn short-circuit faults diagnosis can be achieved. This method is based on the decomposition of the CPVM signal, where wavelet approximation and detail coefficients of this signal have been extracted. The energy evaluation of a known bandwidth detail permits to define a fault severity factor (FSF). This method has been tested through the simulation of an induction motor using a mathematical model based on the winding-function approach. Simulation, as well as experimental, results show the effectiveness of the used method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=induction%20motors%20%28IMs%29" title="induction motors (IMs)">induction motors (IMs)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inter-turn%20short-circuits%20diagnosis" title=" inter-turn short-circuits diagnosis"> inter-turn short-circuits diagnosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=discrete%20wavelet%20transform%20%28DWT%29" title=" discrete wavelet transform (DWT)"> discrete wavelet transform (DWT)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=current%20park%E2%80%99s%20vector%20modulus%20%28CPVM%29" title=" current park’s vector modulus (CPVM) "> current park’s vector modulus (CPVM) </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31450/fault-diagnosis-in-induction-motors-using-the-discrete-wavelet-transform" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31450.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">569</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7567</span> Effect of Delay on Supply Side on Market Behavior: A System Dynamic Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Khoshab">M. In order to maintain high output fidelity, our model crucially processes and renders all image features in high resolution, without utilizing downsampling or pooling procedures. We maintain this consistent, high grade fidelity efficiently in our model chiefly through two means: (1) we use a statistically-principled, tensor decomposition procedure to modulate the number of hypercolumn features and (2) we render these features in their native resolution using a convolutional tessellation technique. For improved pixel-level segmentation results, we introduce a boundary loss function; for improved temporal coherence in video data, we include temporal image information in our model. Through experiments, we demonstrate the improved accuracy of our model against baseline models for interactive segmentation tasks using high resolution video data. We also introduce a benchmark video segmentation dataset, the VFX Segmentation Dataset, which contains over 27,046 high resolution video frames, including green screen and various composited scenes with corresponding, hand-crafted, pixel-level segmentations. Our work presents a improves state of the art segmentation fidelity with high resolution data and can be used across a broad range of application domains, including VFX pipelines and medical imaging disciplines. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computer%20vision" title="computer vision">computer vision</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=object%20segmentation" title=" object segmentation"> object segmentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interactive%20segmentation" title=" interactive segmentation"> interactive segmentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=model%20compression" title=" model compression"> model compression</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122051/high-fidelity-interactive-video-segmentation-using-tensor-decomposition-boundary-loss-convolutional-tessellations-and-context-aware-skip-connections" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122051.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">120</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7565</span> Observation of the Flow Behavior for a Rising Droplet in a Mini-Slot</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Soltani">H. Oil-in-water emulsion can undergo coalescence of finer oil droplets forming droplets of a size that need to be considered individually. This occurs in a number of industrial processes and has important consequences at a scale where both body and surfaces forces are relevant. In the study, two droplet diameters of smaller than the slot width and a relatively larger diameter where the oil droplet can interact directly with the slot wall were generated. To monitor fluid motion, a particle shadow velocimetry (PSV) imaging technique was used to study fluid flow motion inside and around a single oil droplet rising in a net co-flow. The droplet was a transparent canola oil and the surrounding working fluid was glycerol, adjusted to allow a matching of refractive index between the two fluids. Particles seeded in both fluids were observed with the PSV system allowing the capture of the velocity field both within the droplet and in the surrounds. The effect of droplet size on the droplet internal circulation was observed. Part of the study was related the potential generation of flow structures, such as von Karman vortex shedding already observed in rising droplets in infinite reservoirs and their interaction with the mini-channel. Results show that two counter-rotating vortices exist inside the droplets as they pass through slot. The vorticity map analysis shows that the droplet of relatively larger size has a stronger internal circulation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rising%20droplet" title="rising droplet">rising droplet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rectangular%20orifice" title=" rectangular orifice"> rectangular orifice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20shadow%20velocimetry" title=" particle shadow velocimetry"> particle shadow velocimetry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=match%20refractive%20index" title=" match refractive index"> match refractive index</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59627/observation-of-the-flow-behavior-for-a-rising-droplet-in-a-mini-slot" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59627.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">171</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7564</span> Longitudinal Static and Dynamic Stability of a Typical Reentry Body in Subsonic Conditions Using Computational Fluid Dynamics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Jathaveda">M. For a non-propulsive ballistic entry, static and dynamic stability play an important role in the trajectory, especially for the safe deployment of parachutes, typically at subsonic Mach numbers. Static stability of flight vehicles are being estimated through CFD techniques routinely. Advances in CFD software as well as computational facilities have enabled the estimation of the dynamic stability derivatives also through CFD techniques. Longitudinal static and dynamic stability of a typical reentry body for subsonic Mach number of 0.6 is predicted using commercial software CFD++ and presented here. Steady state simulations are carried out for α = 2° on an unstructured grid using SST k-ω model. Dynamic accessibility which measures accessibility in real-time traffic environment has been an advanced accessibility indicator in transport research. It is also a useful indicator to help travelers to understand travel time daily variability, assists traffic engineers to monitor traffic congestions, and finally develop effective strategies in order to mitigate traffic congestions. This research involved real-time traffic information by collecting travel time data with 15-minute interval via the TomTom® API. A framework for measuring dynamic accessibility was then developed based on the gravity theory and accessibility dichotomy theory through space and time interpolation. Finally, the dynamic accessibility can be derived at any given time and location under dynamic accessibility spatial analysis framework. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20accessibility" title="dynamic accessibility">dynamic accessibility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hot%20spot" title=" hot spot"> hot spot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transport%20research" title=" transport research"> transport research</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TomTom%C2%AE%20API" title=" TomTom® API"> TomTom® API</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66401/spatial-analysis-of-park-and-ride-users-dynamic-accessibility-to-train-station-a-case-study-in-perth" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66401.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">388</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7562</span> Exploring the Contribution of Dynamic Capabilities to a Firm's Value Creation: The Role of Competitive Strategy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mona%20Rashidirad">Mona Rashidirad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamid%20Salimian"> Hamid Salimian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Dynamic capabilities, as the most considerable capabilities of firms in the current fast-moving economy may not be sufficient for performance improvement, but their contribution to performance is undeniable. While much of the extant literature investigates the impact of dynamic capabilities on organisational performance, little attention has been devoted to understand whether and how dynamic capabilities create value. Dynamic capabilities as the mirror of competitive strategies should enable firms to search and seize new ideas, integrate and coordinate the firm’s resources and capabilities in order to create value. A careful investigation to the existing knowledge base remains us puzzled regarding the relationship among competitive strategies, dynamic capabilities and value creation. This study thus attempts to fill in this gap by empirically investigating the impact of dynamic capabilities on value creation and the mediating impact of competitive strategy on this relationship. We aim to contribute to dynamic capability view (DCV), in both theoretical and empirical senses, by exploring the impact of dynamic capabilities on firms’ value creation and whether competitive strategy can play any role in strengthening/weakening this relationship. Using a sample of 491 firms in the UK telecommunications market, the results demonstrate that dynamic sensing, learning, integrating and coordinating capabilities play a significant role in firm’s value creation, and competitive strategy mediates the impact of dynamic capabilities on value creation. Adopting DCV, this study investigates whether the value generating from dynamic capabilities depends on firms’ competitive strategy. This study argues a firm’s competitive strategy can mediate its ability to derive value from its dynamic capabilities and it explains the extent a firm’s competitive strategy may influence its value generation. The results of the dynamic capabilities-value relationships support our expectations and justify the non-financial value added of the four dynamic capability processes in a highly turbulent market, such as UK telecommunications. Our analytical findings of the relationship among dynamic capabilities, competitive strategy and value creation provide further evidence of the undeniable role of competitive strategy in deriving value from dynamic capabilities. The results reinforce the argument for the need to consider the mediating impact of organisational contextual factors, such as firm’s competitive strategy to examine how they interact with dynamic capabilities to deliver value. The findings of this study provide significant contributions to theory. Unlike some previous studies which conceptualise dynamic capabilities as a unidimensional construct, this study demonstrates the benefits of understanding the details of the link among the four types of dynamic capabilities, competitive strategy and value creation. In terms of contributions to managerial practices, this research draws attention to the importance of competitive strategy in conjunction with development and deployment of dynamic capabilities to create value. Managers are now equipped with solid empirical evidence which explains why DCV has become essential to firms in today’s business world. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20capabilities" title="dynamic capabilities">dynamic capabilities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resource%20based%20theory" title=" resource based theory"> resource based theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=value%20creation" title=" value creation"> value creation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=competitive%20strategy" title=" competitive strategy"> competitive strategy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63167/exploring-the-contribution-of-dynamic-capabilities-to-a-firms-value-creation-the-role-of-competitive-strategy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63167.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">241</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7561</span> Role of Consultancy in Engineering Education</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=V.%20Nalina">V. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Induction%20Motors%20%28IMs%29" title="Induction Motors (IMs)">Induction Motors (IMs)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inter-turn%20short-circuits%20diagnosis" title=" inter-turn short-circuits diagnosis"> inter-turn short-circuits diagnosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Discrete%20Wavelet%20Transform%20%28DWT%29" title=" Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT)"> Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Current%20Park%E2%80%99s%20Vector%20Modulus%20%28CPVM%29" title=" Current Park’s Vector Modulus (CPVM)"> Current Park’s Vector Modulus (CPVM)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22046/fault-diagnosis-in-induction-motors-using-discrete-wavelet-transform" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22046.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">553</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7559</span> Dynamic Analysis of Double Deck Tunnel</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20W.%20Kwak">C. Segmentation can simplify medical experts in diagnosing retinal fundus image state. Therefore, in this study, we designed a software using MATLAB which enables the segmentation of the retinal blood vessels on retinal fundus images. There are two main steps in the process of segmentation. The first step is image preprocessing that aims to improve the quality of the image to be optimum segmented. The second step is the image segmentation in order to perform the extraction process to retrieve the retina’s blood vessel from the eye fundus image. The image segmentation methods that will be analyzed in this study are Morphology Operation, Discrete Wavelet Transform and combination of both. The amount of data that used in this project is 40 for the retinal image and 40 for manually segmentation image. After doing some testing scenarios, the average accuracy for Morphology Operation method is 88.46 % while for Discrete Wavelet Transform is 89.28 %. By combining the two methods mentioned in later, the average accuracy was increased to 89.53 %. The result of this study is an image processing system that can segment the blood vessels in retinal fundus with high accuracy and low computation time. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=discrete%20wavelet%20transform" title="discrete wavelet transform">discrete wavelet transform</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fundus%20retina" title=" fundus retina"> fundus retina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphology%20operation" title=" morphology operation"> morphology operation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=segmentation" title=" segmentation"> segmentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vessel" title=" vessel"> vessel</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105620/morphology-operation-and-discrete-wavelet-transform-for-blood-vessels-segmentation-in-retina-fundus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105620.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">195</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7556</span> Robust Medical Image Watermarking based on Contourlet and Extraction Using ICA </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Saju">S. Medical image watermarking is a special subcategory of image watermarking in the sense that images have special requirements. Watermarked medical images should not differ perceptually from their original counterparts because clinical reading of images must not be affected. Watermarking techniques based on wavelet transform are reported in many literatures but robustness and security using contourlet are better when compared to wavelet transform. The main challenge in exploring geometry in images comes from the discrete nature of the data. In this paper, original image is decomposed to two level using contourlet and the watermark is embedded in the resultant sub-bands. Sub-band selection is based on the value of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) that is calculated between watermarked and original image. To extract the watermark, Kernel ICA is used and it has a novel characteristic is that it does not require the transformation process to extract the watermark. Simulation results show that proposed scheme is robust against attacks such as Salt and Pepper noise, Median filtering and rotation. The performance measures like PSNR and Similarity measure are evaluated and compared with Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) to prove the robustness of the scheme. Simulations are carried out using Matlab Software. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20watermarking" title="digital watermarking">digital watermarking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=independent%20component%20analysis" title=" independent component analysis"> independent component analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wavelet%20transform" title=" wavelet transform"> wavelet transform</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contourlet" title=" contourlet"> contourlet</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21817/robust-medical-image-watermarking-based-on-contourlet-and-extraction-using-ica" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21817.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">528</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7555</span> Response of Pavement under Temperature and Vehicle Coupled Loading</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yang%20Zhong">Yang Zhong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mei-Jie%20Xu"> Mei-Jie Xu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To study the dynamic mechanics response of asphalt pavement under the temperature load and vehicle loading, asphalt pavement was regarded as multilayered elastic half-space system, and theory analysis was conducted by regarding dynamic modulus of asphalt mixture as the parameter. Nonlinear optical techniques are favorable due to their nondestructive measurement and ability to work in nonvacuum and ambient conditions. The advance of the bond hyperpolarizability models opens a wide range of nanoscale surface investigation including the possibility to detect molecular orientation at the surface of silicon and zincblende semiconductors, investigation of electric field induced second harmonic fields at the semiconductor interface, detection of surface impurities, and very recently, study surface defects such as twin boundary in wurtzite semiconductors. In this work, we show using nonlinear optical techniques, e.g. nonlinear bond models how arbitrary polarization of the incoming electric field in Rotational Anisotropy Spectroscopy experiments can provide more information regarding the origin of the nonlinear sources in zincblende and wurtzite semiconductor structure. In addition, using hyperpolarizability consideration, we describe how the nonlinear susceptibility tensor describing SHG can be well modelled using only few parameter because of the symmetry of the bonds. We also show how the third harmonic intensity feature shows considerable changes when the incoming field polarization angle is changed from s-polarized to p-polarized. We also propose a method how to investigate surface reconstruction and defects in wurtzite and zincblende structure at the nanoscale level. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surface%20characterization" title="surface characterization">surface characterization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bond%20model" title=" bond model"> bond model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rotational%20anisotropy%20spectroscopy" title=" rotational anisotropy spectroscopy"> rotational anisotropy spectroscopy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=effective%20hyperpolarizability" title=" effective hyperpolarizability"> effective hyperpolarizability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94221/surface-characterization-of-zincblende-and-wurtzite-semiconductors-using-nonlinear-optics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94221.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">158</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7553</span> Inverse Matrix in the Theory of Dynamical Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Renata%20Masarova">Renata Masarova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bohuslava%20Juhasova"> Bohuslava Juhasova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martin%20Juhas"> Martin Juhas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zuzana%20Sutova"> Zuzana Sutova</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In dynamic system theory a mathematical model is often used to describe their properties. Here, a theoretical study is carried out to support this finding. We have therefore derived expressions for the exciton diffusion length and diffusion coefficient of singlet and triplet excitons using Förster resonance energy transfer and Dexter carrier transfer mechanisms and are plotted as a function of photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield, spectral overlap integral, refractive index and dipole moment of the photoactive material. We found that singlet exciton diffusion length increases with PL quantum yield and spectral overlap integral, and decreases with increase in refractive index. Likewise, the triplet exciton diffusion length increases when PL quantum yield increases and dipole moment decreases. The calculated diffusion lengths in different organic materials are compared with existing experimental values and found to be in reasonable agreement. The results are expected to provide insight in developing new organic materials for fabricating bulk heterojunction (BHJ) organic solar cells (OSCs) with better photoconversion efficiency. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dexter%20carrier%20transfer" title="Dexter carrier transfer">Dexter carrier transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diffusion%20coefficient" title=" diffusion coefficient"> diffusion coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=exciton%20diffusion%20length" title=" exciton diffusion length"> exciton diffusion length</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=F%C3%B6ster%20resonance%20energy%20transfer" title=" Föster resonance energy transfer"> Föster resonance energy transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photoactive%20materials" title=" photoactive materials"> photoactive materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photophysical%20parameters" title=" photophysical parameters"> photophysical parameters</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69083/influence-of-photophysical-parameters-of-photoactive-materials-on-exciton-diffusion-length-and-diffusion-coefficient-in-bulk-heterojunction-organic-solar-cells" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69083.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">333</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7551</span> Modular, Responsive, and Interactive Green Walls - A Case Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Flaviu%20Mihai%20Frigura-Lliasa">Flaviu Mihai Frigura-Lliasa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andreea%20Anamaria%20Anghel"> Andreea Anamaria Anghel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Attila%20Simo"> Attila Simo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Due to the beauty, usefulness, science, constantly changing, constantly evolving features, and most of the time, mystery it involves, nature-based art is seen as a both modern and timeless direction that has been extensively used in design. The goal of the team's activities was to experiment with ways of fusing the two most common contemporary ways of referring to green installations, that is, either in a pure artistic or in an ecological manner, and creating a living, dynamic, interactive installation capable of both receiving and interpreting external factors, such as natural and human stimuli, that would not only determine some of the mechanism's presets. By consequent, a complex experiment made up of various research and project stages was elaborated in order to transform an idea into an actual interactive green installation within months thanks to the interaction, teamwork, and design processes undertaken throughout the academic years by both university lecturers and some of our students. The outcomes would lead to the development of a dynamic artwork called "Modgrew" as well as the introduction of experiment-based learning at the Timisoara Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, as well as at the Faculty of Electrical and Power Engineering, for the green wall automation issues. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=green%20design" title="green design">green design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=living%20walls" title=" living walls"> living walls</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modular%20structure" title=" modular structure"> modular structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interactive%20proof%20of%20concept" title=" interactive proof of concept"> interactive proof of concept</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166969/modular-responsive-and-interactive-green-walls-a-case-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166969.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">76</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7550</span> Influence of a Company’s Dynamic Capabilities on Its Innovation Capabilities</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lovorka%20Galetic">Lovorka Galetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeljko%20Vukelic"> Zeljko Vukelic </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The advanced concepts of strategic and innovation management in the sphere of company dynamic and innovation capabilities, and achieving their mutual alignment and a synergy effect, are important elements in business today. This paper analyses the theory and empirically investigates the influence of a company’s dynamic capabilities on its innovation capabilities. A new multidimensional model of dynamic capabilities is presented, consisting of five factors appropriate to real time requirements, while innovation capabilities are considered pursuant to the official OECD and Eurostat standards. After examination of dynamic and innovation capabilities indicated their theoretical links, the empirical study testing the model and examining the influence of a company’s dynamic capabilities on its innovation capabilities showed significant results. In the study, a research model was posed to relate company dynamic and innovation capabilities. One side of the model features the variables that are the determinants of dynamic capabilities defined through their factors, while the other side features the determinants of innovation capabilities pursuant to the official standards. With regard to the research model, five hypotheses were set. The study was performed in late 2014 on a representative sample of large and very large Croatian enterprises with a minimum of 250 employees. The research instrument was a questionnaire administered to company top management. For both variables, the position of the company was tested in comparison to industry competitors, on a fivepoint scale. In order to test the hypotheses, correlation tests were performed to determine whether there is a correlation between each individual factor of company dynamic capabilities with the existence of its innovation capabilities, in line with the research model. The results indicate a strong correlation between a company’s possession of dynamic capabilities in terms of their factors, due to the new multi-dimensional model presented in this paper, with its possession of innovation capabilities. Based on the results, all five hypotheses were accepted. Ultimately, it was concluded that there is a strong association between the dynamic and innovation capabilities of a company. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20capabilities" title="dynamic capabilities">dynamic capabilities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovation%20capabilities" title=" innovation capabilities"> innovation capabilities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=competitive%20advantage" title=" competitive advantage"> competitive advantage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20results" title=" business results"> business results</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46544/influence-of-a-companys-dynamic-capabilities-on-its-innovation-capabilities" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46544.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">305</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7549</span> Investigation of Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Jute/Carbon Reinforced Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Sezgin">H. In this study, the effect of different stacking sequences of jute and carbon fabric plies on dynamic mechanical properties of composite laminates were investigated. Vacuum bagging system was used to fabricate the composite samples. Each composite laminate was reinforced with two plies of jute fabric and two plies of carbon fabric by varying the position of layers. Dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) was used to examine the dynamic mechanical properties of composite laminates with increasing temperature. Results showed that the composite sample, which has carbon fabric at the outer layers, has the highest storage and loss modulus. Besides, it was observed that glass transition temperature (Tg) of samples are close to each other and at about 75 °C. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=differential%20scanning%20calorimetry%20dynamic%20mechanical%20analysis" title="differential scanning calorimetry dynamic mechanical analysis">differential scanning calorimetry dynamic mechanical analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=textile%20reinforced%20composites" title=" textile reinforced composites"> textile reinforced composites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermogravimetric%20analysis" title=" thermogravimetric analysis"> thermogravimetric analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62814/investigation-of-dynamic-mechanical-properties-of-jutecarbon-reinforced-composites" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62814.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">303</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7548</span> Dynamic Active Earth Pressure on Flexible Cantilever Retaining Wall</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Snehal%20R.%20Pathak">Snehal R. In present paper, dynamic active earth pressure and displacement of flexible cantilever retaining wall has been evaluated analytically using 2-DOF mass-spring-dashpot model by incorporating both wall and backfill properties. The effect of wall flexibility on dynamic active earth pressure and wall displacement are studied and presented in graphical form. The obtained results are then compared with the various conventional methods, experimental analysis and also with PLAXIS analysis. It is observed that the dynamic active earth pressure decreases with increase in the wall flexibility while wall displacement increases linearly with flexibility of the wall. The results obtained by proposed 2-DOF analytical model are found to be more realistic and economical. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=earth%20pressure" title="earth pressure">earth pressure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=earthquake" title=" earthquake"> earthquake</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=2-DOF%20model" title=" 2-DOF model"> 2-DOF model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Plaxis" title=" Plaxis"> Plaxis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=retaining%20walls" title=" retaining walls"> retaining walls</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wall%20movement" title=" wall movement "> wall movement </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32549/dynamic-active-earth-pressure-on-flexible-cantilever-retaining-wall" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32549.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">540</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7547</span> A Business Model Design Process for Social Enterprises: The Critical Role of the Environment</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hadia%20Abdel%20Aziz">Hadia Abdel Aziz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raghda%20El%20Ebrashi"> Raghda El Ebrashi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Business models are shaped by their design space or the environment they are designed to be implemented in. The rapidly changing economic, technological, political, regulatory and market external environment severely affects business logic. This is particularly true for social enterprises whose core mission is to transform their environments, and thus, their whole business logic revolves around the interchange between the enterprise and the environment. The context in which social business operates imposes different business design constraints while at the same time, open up new design opportunities. It is also affected to a great extent by the impact that successful enterprises generate; a continuous loop of interaction that needs to be managed through a dynamic capability in order to generate a lasting powerful impact. This conceptual research synthesizes and analyzes literature on social enterprise, social enterprise business models, business model innovation, business model design, and the open system view theory to propose a new business model design process for social enterprises that takes into account the critical role of environmental factors. This process would help the social enterprise develop a dynamic capability that ensures the alignment of its business model to its environmental context, thus, maximizing its probability of success. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20enterprise" title="social enterprise">social enterprise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20model" title=" business model"> business model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20model%20design" title=" business model design"> business model design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20model%20environment" title=" business model environment"> business model environment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48331/a-business-model-design-process-for-social-enterprises-the-critical-role-of-the-environment" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48331.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">371</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7546</span> Sampling Two-Channel Nonseparable Wavelets and Its Applications in Multispectral Image Fusion</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bin%20Liu">Bin Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Weijie%20Liu"> Weijie Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bin%20Sun"> Bin Sun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yihui%20Luo"> Yihui Luo </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In order to solve the problem of lower spatial resolution and block effect in the fusion method based on separable wavelet transform in the resulting fusion image, a new sampling mode based on multi-resolution analysis of two-channel non separable wavelet transform, whose dilation matrix is [1,1;1,-1], is presented and a multispectral image fusion method based on this kind of sampling mode is proposed. Filter banks related to this kind of wavelet are constructed, and multiresolution decomposition of the intensity of the MS and panchromatic image are performed in the sampled mode using the constructed filter bank. The low- and high-frequency coefficients are fused by different fusion rules. The experiment results show that this method has good visual effect. The fusion performance has been noted to outperform the IHS fusion method, as well as, the fusion methods based on DWT, IHS-DWT, IHS-Contourlet transform, and IHS-Curvelet transform in preserving both spectral quality and high spatial resolution information. Furthermore, when compared with the fusion method based on nonsubsampled two-channel non separable wavelet, the proposed method has been observed to have higher spatial resolution and good global spectral information. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20fusion" title="image fusion">image fusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-channel%20sampled%20nonseparable%20wavelets" title=" two-channel sampled nonseparable wavelets"> two-channel sampled nonseparable wavelets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multispectral%20image" title=" multispectral image"> multispectral image</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=panchromatic%20image" title=" panchromatic image"> panchromatic image</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15357/sampling-two-channel-nonseparable-wavelets-and-its-applications-in-multispectral-image-fusion" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15357.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">440</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7545</span> The Relationship between Ruins and Vegetation: Different Approaches during the Centuries and within the Various Disciplinary Fields, Investigation of Writings and Projects</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rossana%20Mancini">Rossana Mancini</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The charm of a ruin colonised by wild plants and flowers is part of Western culture. Virulent Acanthamoeba can cause fatal encephalitis in immunocompromised patients and potential blinding keratitis in immunocompetent contact lens wearers. Approximately 24 species have been identified but only the A. castellanii, A. polyphaga and A. culbertsoni are commonly associated with human infections. Until to date, the precise molecular basis for Acanthamoeba pathogenesis remains unclear. Previous studies reported that Acanthamoeba virulence can be diminished through prolonged axenic culture but revived through serial mouse passages. As no clear explanation on this reversible pathogenesis is established, hereby, we postulate that the epigenetic regulators, DNA-methyltransferases (DNMT) and histone-deacetylases (HDAC), could possibly be involved in granting the virulence plasticity of Acanthamoeba spp. Methods: Four rounds of mouse passages were conducted to revive the virulence potential of the virulence-attenuated Acanthamoeba castellanii strain (ATCC 50492). Briefly, each mouse (n=6/group) was inoculated intraperitoneally with Acanthamoebae cells (2x 105 trophozoites/mouse) and incubated for 2 months. Acanthamoebae cells were isolated from infected mouse organs by culture method and subjected to subsequent mouse passage. In vitro cytopathic, encystment and gelatinolytic assays were conducted to evaluate the virulence characteristics of Acanthamoebae isolates for each passage. PCR primers which targeted on the 2 members (DNMT1 and DNMT2) and 5 members (HDAC1 to 5) of the DNMT and HDAC gene families respectively were custom designed. Quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) was performed to detect and quantify the relative expression of the two gene families in each Acanthamoeba isolates. Beta-tubulin of A. castellanii (Genbank accession no: XP_004353728) was included as housekeeping gene for data normalisation. PCR mixtures were also analyzed by electrophoresis for amplicons detection. All statistical analyses were performed using the paired one-tailed Student’s t test. Results: Our pathogenicity tests showed that the virulence-reactivated Acanthamoeba had a higher degree of cytopathic effect on vero cells, a better resistance to encystment challenge and a higher gelatinolytic activity which was catalysed by serine protease. qPCR assay showed that DNMT1 expression was significantly higher in the virulence-reactivated compared to the virulence-attenuated Acanthamoeba strain (p ≤ 0.01). The specificity of primers which targeted on DNMT1 was confirmed by sequence analysis of PCR amplicons, which showed a 97% similarity to the published DNA-methyltransferase gene of A. castellanii (GenBank accession no: XM_004332804.1). Out of the five primer pairs which targeted on the HDAC family genes, only HDAC4 expression was significantly difference between the two variant strains. In contrast to DNMT1, HDAC4 expression was much higher in the virulence-attenuated Acanthamoeba strain. Conclusion: Our mouse passages had successfully restored the virulence of the attenuated strain. Our findings suggested that DNA-methyltransferase (DNMT1) and histone deacetylase (HDAC4) expressions are associated with virulence potential of Acanthamoeba spp. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acanthamoeba" title="acanthamoeba">acanthamoeba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA-methyltransferase" title=" DNA-methyltransferase"> DNA-methyltransferase</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=histone%20deacetylase" title=" histone deacetylase"> histone deacetylase</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=virulence-associated%20proteins" title=" virulence-associated proteins"> virulence-associated proteins</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49185/possible-involvement-of-dna-methyltransferase-and-histone-deacetylase-in-the-regulation-of-virulence-potential-of-acanthamoeba-castellanii" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49185.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">289</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7543</span> Learn through AR (Augmented Reality)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prajakta%20Musale">Prajakta Musale</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bhargav%20Parlikar"> Bhargav Parlikar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sakshi%20Parkhi"> Sakshi Parkhi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anshu%20Parihar"> Anshu Parihar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aryan%20Parikh"> Aryan Parikh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diksha%20Parasharam"> Diksha Parasharam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parth%20Jadhav"> Parth Jadhav</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> AR technology is basically a development of VR technology that harnesses the power of computers to be able to read the surroundings and create projections of digital models in the real world for the purpose of visualization, demonstration, and education. It has been applied to education, fields of prototyping in product design, development of medical models, battle strategy in the military and many other fields. Our Engineering Design and Innovation (EDAI) project focuses on the usage of augmented reality, visual mapping, and 3d-visualization along with animation and text boxes to help students in fields of education get a rough idea of the concepts such as flow and mechanical movements that may be hard to visualize at first glance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
