She was there to help calm me down, to remind me that I’m not in a war zone anymore and that I can be okay."<br><br>Now, Otero works in public affairs at a mortgage company and volunteers with groups like the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130527223250/http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/" target="_blank">Wounded Warrior Project</a>.<br><br>"When my children grow up, I hope they’ll see that their father served his country honorably and worked his butt off to continue to give back.  If I do nothing else with my existence, I want to help my fellow veteran till the day I
