This initiative, which took place from April 2-7, was a concerted effort to raise awareness and funds for autism resources and services. The custom Nikes, adorned with team colors and the rainbow infinity symbol—a representation of the neurodiversity spectrum—were crafted by JSM 801 Customs, a studio based in Salt Lake City. The campaign was spearheaded by Utah Jazz assistant coach Scott Morrison, inspired by his personal experience as a parent of a child diagnosed with autism. The coaches’ participation in this initiative reflects a league-wide commitment to fostering acceptance and understanding of autism. The genesis of this initiative can be traced back to Morrison’s proposal, which quickly gained traction among his peers in the NBA coaching community. The National Basketball Coaches Association, under the leadership of executive director David Fogel, played a pivotal role in mobilizing coaches to partake in this cause. Each pair of custom sneakers will be autographed by the coaches and auctioned off, with the proceeds directed to the To The Max Foundation, established by Morrison and his wife. This foundation is dedicated to supporting individuals with autism and their families.
