Establishing seamless rapport is always the first step. Problem assessment is next, here counsellor determine whether they are dealing with interpersonal, intrapersonal, academic, family expectations, sexuality, or recalling experiences of past traumatic events. It is followed by goal setting for using coping skills that are unique to the individual needs of each counselee. With the counselling interaction, an attempt is made to lower the level of discomfort by finally resolving the stressful situation over several sessions.
