<a href ="../luke/8.htm#11">Luke 8:11&#8211;15</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Then saith He unto them, <FR>Do ye not understand this parable? how then will ye understand all <Fr><i>my other</i><FR> parables.<Fr> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><FR>The sower <Fr><i>is he that</i><FR> soweth the word. And these are they by the way-<Fr><i>side:</i> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><FR>where the word is sown; but when they have heard <Fr><i>it,</i><FR> Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word <Fr><i>that was</i><FR> sown in their hearts.<Fr> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><FR>And in like manner, they that are sown <Fr><i>as</i><FR> on stony grounds are such, as when they hear the word,<Fr> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span><FR>immediately receive it with joy, but have no root in themselves, <Fr><i>and so</i><FR> continue but for a <Fr><i>short</i><FR> season: <Fr><i>and</i><FR> then, when affliction cometh, or persecution on account of the word, they are <Fr><i>as</i><FR> soon offended.<Fr> <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><FR>And those that are sown <Fr><i>as</i><FR> among thorns, are these: such as hear the word <Fr><i>indeed,</i> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><FR>but the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and <Fr><i>inordinate</i><FR> desires after other things entering in choke the word, and <Fr><i>so</i><FR> it becometh unfruitful.<Fr> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><FR>And these are they who are <Fr><i>like seed</i><FR> sown on good ground: such as hear the word, and receive <Fr><i>it;</i><FR> and bring forth fruit, some thirty-<Fr><i>fold,</i><FR> and some sixty, and some an hundred.<Fr><p> <A name="22"></a><p class="hdg">The Lesson of the Lamp<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../luke/8.htm#16">Luke 8:16&#8211;18</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And He said unto them, <FR>Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or a bed, <Fr><i>and</i><FR> not to be set on a candlestick?<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><FR>for there is nothing hidden, which may not be revealed; nor was there any thing concealed, but in order to become manifest.<Fr> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span><FR>If any one hath ears to hear, let him hear.<Fr> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>And mind what ye hear: <i>for</i><FR> with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you; and more shall be imparted to you that are observant:<Fr> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span><FR>for whosoever hath, to him <Fr><i>more</i><FR> shall be given; and he that hath not, even what he hath, <Fr><i>or seemeth to have,</i><FR> shall be taken from him.<Fr><p> <A name="27"></a><p class="hdg">The Seed Growing Secretly<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And He said, <FR>The kingdom of God is as if a man should cast seed into the ground,<Fr> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span><FR>and sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up, and increase; he knows not how.<Fr> <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span><FR>For the earth produces fruit of itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full corn in the ear:<Fr> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span><FR>but when the fruit is ripe, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest is come.<Fr><p> <A name="31"></a><p class="hdg">The Parable of the Mustard Seed<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/13.htm#31">Matthew 13:31&#8211;32</a>; <a href ="../luke/8.htm#22">Luke 8:22&#8211;25</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>And the same day, in the evening, He saith to them, <FR>Let us go over to the other side.<Fr> <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/4-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>So they dismissed the multitude, and took Him as He was in the ship.
