<t><p class="indent1">They reel<MH7686> while <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>having visions<MH7203b>, <t><p class="indent1">They stagger<MH6328> <i>when rendering</i> a verdict<MH6417>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>For all<MH3605> the tables<MH7979> are full<MH4390> of filthy<MH6675> vomit<MH7006b>, without<MH1097> a <i>single clean</i> place<MH4725>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>“To whom<MH4310> would He teach<MH3384> knowledge<MH1844>, <t><p class="indent1">And to whom<MH4310> would He interpret<MH995> the message<MH8052>? <t><p class="indent1">Those <i>just</i> weaned<MH1580> from milk<MH2461>? <t><p class="indent1">Those <i>just</i> taken<MH6267> from the breast<MH7699a>? <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>“For <i>He says,</i> <t><p class="indent1">‘<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>Order<MH6673> on order<MH6673>, order<MH6673> on order<MH6673>, <t><p class="indent1">Line<MH6957b> on line<MH6957b>, line<MH6957b> on line<MH6957b>, <t><p class="indent1">A little<MH2191> here<MH8033>, a little<MH2191> there<MH8033>.’” <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Indeed<MH3588>, He will speak<MH1696> to this<MH2088> people<MH5971a> <t><p class="indent1">Through stammering<MH3934> lips<MH8193> and a foreign<MH312> tongue<MH3956>, <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>He who<MH834> said<MH559> to them, “This<MH2088> is the place<MH4496> of<MH4496> quiet<MH4496>, give<MH5117> rest<MH5117> to the weary<MH5889>,” <t><p class="indent1">And, “This<MH2088> is the resting<MH4774> place<MH4774>,” but they would<MH14> not listen<MH8085>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>So the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> to them will be, <p class="indent1stline">“<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>Order<MH6673> on order<MH6673>, order<MH6673> on order<MH6673>, <t><p class="indent1">Line<MH6957b> on line<MH6957b>, line<MH6957b> on line<MH6957b>, <t><p class="indent1">A little<MH2191> here<MH8033>, a little<MH2191> there<MH8033>,” <t><p class="indent1">That they may go<MH1980> and stumble<MH3782> backward<MH268>, be broken<MH7665>, snared<MH3369>, and taken<MH3920> captive<MH3920>. <p class="hdg">Judah Is Warned</p><poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651>, hear<MH8085> the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068>, you scoffers<MH582, 3944>, <t><p class="indent1">Who rule<MH4910> this<MH2088> people<MH5971a> who<MH834> are in Jerusalem<MH3389>, <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Because<MH3588> you have said<MH559>, “We have made<MH3772> a covenant<MH1285> with death<MH4194>, <t><p class="indent1">And with <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>Sheol<MH7585> we have made<MH6213a> a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>pact<MH2374>. <t><p class="indent1">The <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>gushing<MH7857> flood<MH7752> will not reach<MH935> us when<MH3588> it passes<MH5674a> by<MH5674a>, <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH3588> we have made<MH7760> falsehood<MH3577> our refuge<MH4268> and we have concealed<MH5641> ourselves with deception<MH8267>.” <A><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651> this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the Lord<MH136> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>GOD<MH3068> says<MH559>: <p class="indent1stline">“Behold<MH2009>, I am laying<MH3245> a stone<MH68> in Zion<MH6726>, a tested<MH976> stone<MH68>, <t><p class="indent1">A precious<MH3368> cornerstone<MH6438> <i>for</i> the foundation<MH4143>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>firmly<MH3245> placed<MH3245>. <t><p class="indent1">The one who believes<MH539> <i>in it</i> will not be <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>disturbed<MH2363a>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/28-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>“I will make<MH7760> justice<MH4941> the measuring<MH6957b> line<MH6957b> <t><p class="indent1">And righteousness<MH6666> the level<MH4949>;
