The <em>N</em>-protected indoles have been prepared under moderate and scalable electrolytic conditions. The conduct of the reactions was performed in a simple divided cell under constant current without oxidizing reagents or transition-metal catalysts. The synthesized products have been characterized via UV/Vis spectrophotometry, 1H-NMR, and FTIR spectroscopy. A possible reaction mechanism is discussed based on the <em>N</em>-protective products. This methodology could be applied to the synthesis of various biologically active <em>N</em>-substituted indole derivatives.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Green%20chemistry" title="Green chemistry">Green chemistry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=1H-indole" title=" 1H-indole"> 1H-indole</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=NH-containing%20heteroaromatic" title=" NH-containing heteroaromatic"> NH-containing heteroaromatic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=organic%20electrosynthesis." title=" organic electrosynthesis."> organic electrosynthesis.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/green-smooth-and-easy-electrochemical-synthesis-of-n-protected-indole-derivatives" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011761.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">931</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> A Fast Adaptive Content-based Retrieval System of Satellite Images Database using Relevance Feedback</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Hanan%20Mahmoud%20Ezzat%20Mahmoud">Hanan Mahmoud Ezzat Mahmoud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Alaa%20Abd%20El%20Fatah%20Hefnawy"> Alaa Abd El Fatah Hefnawy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we present a system for content-based retrieval of large database of classified satellite images, based on user's relevance feedback (RF).Through our proposed system, we divide each satellite image scene into small subimages, which stored in the database. The modified radial basis functions neural network has important role in clustering the subimages of database according to the Euclidean distance between the query feature vector and the other subimages feature vectors. The advantage of using RF technique in such queries is demonstrated by analyzing the database retrieval results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=content-based%20image%20retrieval" title="content-based image retrieval">content-based image retrieval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=large%20database%20of%0Aimage" title=" large database of image"> large database of image</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=RBF%20neural%20net" title=" RBF neural net"> RBF neural net</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=relevance%20feedback" title=" relevance feedback"> relevance feedback</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/a-fast-adaptive-content-based-retrieval-system-of-satellite-images-database-using-relevance-feedback" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3357.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1470</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Power Series Solution to Sliding Velocity in Three-Dimensional Multibody Systems with Impact and Friction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Hesham%20A.%20Elkaranshawy">Hesham A. No analytical solutions have been obtained before for this highly nonlinear system. Hence, a power series solution is proposed. Since the validity of this solution is limited to its convergence zone, a suitable time step is chosen and at the end of it a new series solution is constructed. For a case study, the trajectory of the sliding velocity using the proposed method is built using 6 time steps, which coincides with a Runge- Kutta solution using 38 time steps. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Impact%20with%20friction" title="Impact with friction">Impact with friction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=nonlinear%20ordinary%20differential%0D%0Aequations" title=" nonlinear ordinary differential equations"> nonlinear ordinary differential equations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=power%20series%20solutions" title=" power series solutions"> power series solutions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=rough%20collision." title=" rough collision."> rough collision.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/power-series-solution-to-sliding-velocity-in-three-dimensional-multibody-systems-with-impact-and-friction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10002452.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1916</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Predictors of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Egyptian Obese Adolescents</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Moushira%20Zaki">Moushira Zaki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Wafaa%20Ezzat"> Wafaa Ezzat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Yasser%20Elhosary"> Yasser Elhosary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Omnia%20Saleh"> Omnia Saleh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p>Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has increased in conjunction with obesity. The accuracy of risk factors for detecting NAFLD in obese adolescents has not undergone a formal evaluation. The aim of this study was to evaluate predictors of NAFLD among Egyptian female obese adolescents. The study included 162 obese female adolescents. All were subjected to anthropometry, biochemical analysis and abdominal ultrasongraphic assessment. Metabolic syndrome (MS) was diagnosed according to the IDF criteria. Significant association between presence of MS and NAFLD was observed. Obese adolescents with NAFLD had significantly higher levels of ALT, triglycerides, fasting glucose, insulin, blood pressure and HOMA-IR, whereas decreased HDL-C levels as compared with obese cases without NAFLD. Receiver– operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis shows that ALT is a sensitive predictor for NAFLD, confirming that ALT can be used as a marker of NAFLD.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Adolescents" title="Adolescents">Adolescents</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Egyptians" title=" Egyptians"> Egyptians</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=obesity." title=" obesity."> obesity.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/predictors-of-non-alcoholic-fatty-liver-disease-in-egyptian-obese-adolescents" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10000218.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2414</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Numerical Simulation of Axially Loaded to Failure Large Diameter Bored Pile </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=M.%20Ezzat">M. However, loading of this type of piles till achieving apparent failure is practically seldom. In this paper, numerical analyses are carried out to simulate load test of a large diameter bored pile performed at the location of Alzey highway bridge project (Germany). Test results of pile load settlement relationship till failure as well as results of the base and shaft resistances are available. Apparent failure was indicated in this test by the significant increase of the induced settlement during the last load increment applied on the pile head. Measurements of this pile load test are used to assess the quality of the numerical models investigated. Three different material soil models are implemented in the analyses: Mohr coulomb (MC), Soft soil (SS), and Modified Mohr coulomb (MMC). Very good agreement is obtained between the field measured settlement and the calculated settlement using the MMC model. Results of analysis showed also that the MMC constitutive model is superior to MC, and SS models in predicting the ultimate base and shaft resistances of the large diameter bored pile. After calibrating the numerical model, behavior of large diameter bored piles under axial loads is discussed and the formation of the plastic zone around the pile is explored. Results obtained showed that the plastic zone below the base of the pile at failure extended laterally to about four times the pile diameter and vertically to about three times the pile diameter.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Ultimate%20capacity" title="Ultimate capacity">Ultimate capacity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=large%20diameter%20bored%20piles" title=" large diameter bored piles"> large diameter bored piles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=plastic%20zone" title=" plastic zone"> plastic zone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=failure" title=" failure"> failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=pile%20load%20test." title=" pile load test. Linalool, 1,8-cineol and eugenol were isolated</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">from the volatile oil of O. basilicum and camphor was isolated from</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">the volatile oil of O. africanum. The anticholinesterase activities of</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">the isolated compounds were also evaluated where 1,8-cineol showed</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">the highest inhibitory activity followed by camphor. To confirm these</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">activities, learning and memory enhancing effects were tested in</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">mice. Memory impairment was induced by scopolamine, a</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">cholinergic muscarinic receptor antagonist. Anti-amnesic effects of</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">both volatile oils and their terpenoids were investigated by the</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">passive avoidance task in mice. We also examined their effects on</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">brain acetylcholinesterase activity. Results showed that scopolamineinduced</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">cognitive dysfunction was significantly attenuated by</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">administration of the volatile oils and their terpenoids, eugenol and</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">camphor, in the passive avoidance task and inhibited brain</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">acetylcholinesterase activity. These results suggest that O. basilicum</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">and O. africanum volatile oils can be good candidates for further</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height: 20.8px;">studies on Alzheimer’s disease via their acetylcholinesterase</span><br style="line-height: 20.8px;" /> <span style="line-height:
