<t><p class="indent1">“It is I, the One who speaks<MH1696> in righteousness<MH6666>, mighty<MH7227a> to save<MH3467>.” <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>Why<MH4069> is Your apparel<MH3830> red<MH122>, <t><p class="indent1">And Your garments<MH899b> like one who treads<MH1869> in the wine<MH1660> press<MH1660>? <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>“I have trodden<MH1869> the wine<MH6333b> trough<MH6333b> alone<MH905>, <t><p class="indent1">And from the peoples<MH5971a> there<MH369> was<MH369> no<MH369> one<MH376> with Me. <t><p class="indent1">I also trod<MH1869> them in My anger<MH639> <t><p class="indent1">And trampled<MH7429> them in My wrath<MH2534>; <t><p class="indent1">And their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>lifeblood<MH5332> is sprinkled<MH5137a> on My garments<MH899b>, <t><p class="indent1">And I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>stained<MH1351> all<MH3605> My clothes<MH4403>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>“For the day<MH3117> of vengeance<MH5359> was in My heart<MH3820>, <t><p class="indent1">And My year<MH8141> of redemption<MH1347a> has come<MH935>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>“I looked<MH5027>, but there<MH369> was<MH369> no<MH369> one<MH369> to help<MH5826>, <t><p class="indent1">And I was astonished<MH8074> and there<MH369> was<MH369> no<MH369> one<MH369> to uphold<MH5564>; <t><p class="indent1">So My own arm<MH2220> brought<MH3467> salvation<MH3467> to Me, <t><p class="indent1">And My wrath<MH2534> upheld<MH5564> Me. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>“I trampled<MH947> down<MH947> the peoples<MH5971a> in My anger<MH639> <t><p class="indent1">And made<MH7937> them drunk<MH7937> with My wrath<MH2534>, <t><p class="indent1">And I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>poured<MH3381> out<MH3381> their lifeblood<MH5332> on the earth<MH776>.” <p class="hdg">God’s Ancient Mercies Recalled</p><poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>I will make<MH2142> mention<MH2142> of the mercies<MH2617a> of the LORD<MH3068>, <i>and</i> the praises<MH8416> of the LORD<MH3068>, <t><p class="indent1">According<MH5921> to all<MH3605> that the LORD<MH3068> has granted<MH1580> us, <t><p class="indent1">And the great<MH7227a> goodness<MH2898> toward the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478>, <t><p class="indent1">Which<MH834> He has granted<MH1580> them according to His compassion<MH7356> <t><p class="indent1">And according to the abundance<MH7230> of His mercies<MH2617a>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>For He said<MH559>, “Certainly<MH389> they are My people<MH5971a>, <t><p class="indent1">Sons<MH1121> who will not deal<MH8266> falsely<MH8266>.” <t><p class="indent1">So He became<MH1961> their Savior<MH3467>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>In all<MH3605> their distress<MH6869a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>He was distressed<MH6862b>, <t><p class="indent1">And the angel<MH4397> of His presence<MH6440> saved<MH3467> them; <t><p class="indent1">In His love<MH160> and in His mercy<MH2551> He redeemed<MH1350> them, <t><p class="indent1">And He lifted<MH5190> them and carried<MH5375> them all<MH3605> the days<MH3117> of old<MH5769>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But they rebelled<MH4784> <t><p class="indent1">And grieved<MH6087a> His Holy<MH6944> Spirit<MH7307>; <t><p class="indent1">Therefore He turned<MH2015> Himself to become their enemy<MH340>, <t><p class="indent1">He fought<MH3898a> against them. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/63-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Then His people<MH5971a> remembered<MH2142> the days<MH3117> of old<MH5769>, of Moses<MH4872>. <t><p class="indent1">Where<MH346> is He who brought<MH5927> them up<MH5927> out of the sea<MH3220> with the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>shepherds<MH7462a> of His flock<MH6629>?
