A phase locked loop (PLL) is used to multiply the signal under test by a factor of 100. The number of pulses in this pulse train signal is counted over a stable known period, using decade driving assemblies (DDAs) and flip-flops. These signals are combined using logic gates and then passed through decade counters to give a unique combination of pulses or levels, which are further encoded. These pulses are equally suitable for both control applications and display units. The experimental circuit developed gives a resolution of 1 Hz within the measurement period of 20 ms. The proposed circuit is also simulated in Verilog Hardware Description Language (VHDL) and implemented using Field Programing Gate Arrays (FPGAs). A Mixed signal Oscilloscope (MSO) is used to observe the results of FPGA implementation. These results are compared with the results of the proposed circuit of discrete components. The proposed system is useful for frequency deviation measurement and control in power systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frequency%20measurement" title="frequency measurement">frequency measurement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20control" title=" digital control"> digital control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phase%20locked%20loop" title=" phase locked loop"> phase locked loop</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=encoder" title=" encoder"> encoder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Verilog%20HDL" title=" Verilog HDL"> Verilog HDL</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92304/digital-encoder-based-power-frequency-deviation-measurement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92304.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">178</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> FPGA Implementation of a Marginalized Particle Filter for Delineation of P and T Waves of ECG Signal</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jugal%20Bhandari">Jugal Bhandari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20Hari%20Priya"> K. Accordingly, delineation of ECG signal is an important task. Whereas delineation of P and T waves is a complex task. This paper deals with the Study of ECG signal and analysis of signal by means of Verilog Design of efficient filters and MATLAB tool effectively. It includes generation and simulation of ECG signal, by means of real time ECG data, ECG signal filtering and processing by analysis of different algorithms and techniques. In this paper, we design a basic particle filter which generates a dynamic model depending on the present and past input samples and then produces the desired output. Afterwards, the output will be processed by MATLAB to get the actual shape and accurate values of the ranges of P-wave and T-wave of ECG signal. In this paper, Questasim is a tool of mentor graphics which is being used for simulation and functional verification. The same design is again verified using Xilinx ISE which will be also used for synthesis, mapping and bit file generation. Xilinx FPGA board will be used for implementation of system. The final results of FPGA shall be verified with ChipScope Pro where the output data can be observed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ECG" title="ECG">ECG</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MATLAB" title=" MATLAB"> MATLAB</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bayesian%20filtering" title=" Bayesian filtering"> Bayesian filtering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20filter" title=" particle filter"> particle filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Verilog%20hardware%20descriptive%20language" title=" Verilog hardware descriptive language"> Verilog hardware descriptive language</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2113/fpga-implementation-of-a-marginalized-particle-filter-for-delineation-of-p-and-t-waves-of-ecg-signal" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2113.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">367</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Classification of Myoelectric Signals Using Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network with Back-Propagation Algorithm in a Wireless Surface Myoelectric Prosthesis of the Upper-Limb</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kevin%20D.%20Manalo">Kevin D. The algorithm is widely used in pattern recognition. The network can be used to train signals and be able to use it in performing a function on their own based on sample inputs. The paper makes use of the Neural Network in classifying the electromyography signal that is produced by the muscle in the amputee鈥檚 skin surface. The gathered data will be passed on through the Classification Stage wirelessly through Zigbee Technology. The signal will be classified and trained to be used in performing the arm positions in the prosthesis. Through programming using Verilog and using a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) with Zigbee, the EMG signals will be acquired and will be used for classification. The classified signal is used to produce the corresponding Hand Movements (Open, Pick, Hold, and Grip) through the Zigbee controller. The data will then be processed through the MLP Neural Network using MATLAB which then be used for the surface myoelectric prosthesis. Z-test will be used to display the output acquired from using the neural network. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=field%20programmable%20gate%20array" title="field programmable gate array">field programmable gate array</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multilayer%20perceptron%20neural%20network" title=" multilayer perceptron neural network"> multilayer perceptron neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=verilog" title=" verilog"> verilog</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=zigbee" title=" zigbee"> zigbee</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19846/classification-of-myoelectric-signals-using-multilayer-perceptron-neural-network-with-back-propagation-algorithm-in-a-wireless-surface-myoelectric-prosthesis-of-the-upper-limb" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19846.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">389</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Design of SAE J2716 Single Edge Nibble Transmission Digital Sensor Interface for Automotive Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jongbae%20Lee">Jongbae Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seongsoo%20Lee"> Seongsoo Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Modern sensors often embed small-size digital controller for sensor control, value calibration, and signal processing. These sensors require digital data communication with host microprocessors, but conventional digital communication protocols are too heavy for price reduction. SAE J2716 SENT (single edge nibble transmission) protocol transmits direct digital waveforms instead of complicated analog modulated signals. In this paper, a SENT interface is designed in Verilog HDL (hardware description language) and implemented in FPGA (field-programmable gate array) evaluation board. The designed SENT interface consists of frame encoder/decoder, configuration register, tick period generator, CRC (cyclic redundancy code) generator/checker, and TX/RX (transmission/reception) buffer. Frame encoder/decoder is implemented as a finite state machine, and it controls whole SENT interface. Configuration register contains various parameters such as operation mode, tick length, CRC option, pause pulse option, and number of nibble data. Tick period generator generates tick signals from input clock. CRC generator/checker generates or checks CRC in the SENT data frame. TX/RX buffer stores transmission/received data. The designed SENT interface can send or receives digital data in 25~65 kbps at 3 us tick. Synthesized in 0.18 um fabrication technologies, it is implemented about 2,500 gates. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20sensor%20interface" title="digital sensor interface">digital sensor interface</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SAE%20J2716" title=" SAE J2716"> SAE J2716</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SENT" title=" SENT"> SENT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=verilog%20HDL" title=" verilog HDL"> verilog HDL</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94620/design-of-sae-j2716-single-edge-nibble-transmission-digital-sensor-interface-for-automotive-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94620.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">300</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Design of Reconfigurable Fixed-Point LMS Adaptive FIR Filter </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Padmapriya">S. It is also called as the automated data collection technology. RFID readers are placed in any area to scan large number of tags to cover a wide distance. The placement of the RFID elements may result in several types of collisions. A major challenge in RFID system is collision avoidance. In the previous works the collision was avoided by using algorithms such as ALOHA and tree algorithm. This work proposes collision reduction and increased throughput through reading enhancement method with tree algorithm. The reading enhancement is done by improving interrogation procedure and increasing the data handling capacity of RFID reader with parallel processing. The work is simulated using Xilinx ISE 14.5 verilog language. By implementing this in the RFID system, we can able to achieve high throughput and avoid collision in the reader at a same instant of time. The sinusoidal signal for which the frequency deviation measurement is required is transformed to a low voltage level and passed through a zero crossing detector to convert it into a pulse train. Another stable square wave signal of 10 KHz is obtained using a crystal oscillator and decade dividing assemblies (DDA). These signals are combined digitally and then passed through decade counters to give a unique combination of pulses or levels, which are further encoded to make them equally suitable for both control applications and display units. The developed circuit using discrete components has a resolution of 0.5 Hz and completes measurement within 20 ms. The realized circuit is simulated and synthesized using Verilog HDL and subsequently implemented on FPGA. The results of measurement on FPGA are observed on a very high resolution logic analyzer. These results accurately match the simulation results as well as the results of same circuit implemented with discrete components. The proposed system is suitable for accurate measurement and control of power frequency deviation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20encoder%20for%20frequency%20measurement" title="digital encoder for frequency measurement">digital encoder for frequency measurement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frequency%20deviation%20measurement" title=" frequency deviation measurement"> frequency deviation measurement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=measurement%20and%20control%20systems" title=" measurement and control systems"> measurement and control systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20systems" title=" power systems"> power systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44000/a-simple-and-efficient-method-for-accurate-measurement-and-control-of-power-frequency-deviation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44000.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">376</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Improved Hash Value Based Stream CipherUsing Delayed Feedback with Carry Shift Register</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20K.%20Soundra%20Pandian">K. In this context, a non-recursive key based integrated spritz stream cipher with the circulant hash function using delayed feedback with carry shift register (d-FCSR) is proposed in this paper. The novelty of this proposed stream cipher algorithm is to engender the improved keystream using d-FCSR. The proposed algorithm is coded using Verilog HDL to produce dynamic binary key stream and implemented on commercially available FPGA device Virtex 5 xc5vlx110t-2ff1136. The implementation of stream cipher using d-FCSR on the FPGA device operates at a maximum frequency of 60.62 MHz. It achieved the data throughput of 492 Mbps and improved in terms of efficiency (throughput/area) compared to existing techniques. This paper also briefs the cryptanalysis of proposed circulant hash value based spritz stream cipher using d-FCSR is against the adversary attack on a hardware platform for the hardware based cryptography applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cryptography" title="cryptography">cryptography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=circulant%20function" title=" circulant function"> circulant function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=field%20programmable%20gated%20array" title=" field programmable gated array"> field programmable gated array</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hash%20value" title=" hash value"> hash value</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spritz%20stream%20cipher" title=" spritz stream cipher"> spritz stream cipher</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73756/improved-hash-value-based-stream-cipherusing-delayed-feedback-with-carry-shift-register" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73756.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">250</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Enhanced Test Scheme based on Programmable Write Time for Future Computer Memories</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nor%20Zaidi%20Haron">Nor Zaidi Haron</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fauziyah%20Salehuddin"> Fauziyah Salehuddin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Norsuhaidah%20Arshad"> Norsuhaidah Arshad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sani%20Irwan%20Salim"> Sani Irwan Salim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Resistive random access memories (RRAMs) are one of the main candidates for future computer memories. However, due to their tiny size and immature device technology, the quality of the outgoing RRAM chips is seen as a serious issue. Defective RRAM cells might behave differently than existing semiconductor memories (Dynamic RAM, Static RAM, and Flash), meaning that they are difficult to be detected using existing test schemes. This paper presents an enhanced test scheme, referred to as Programmable Short Write Time (PSWT) that is able to improve the detection of faulty RRAM cells. It is developed by applying multiple weak write operations, each with different time durations. The test circuit embedded in the RRAM chip is made programmable in order to supply different weak write times during testing. The RRAM electrical model is described using Verilog-AMS language and is simulated using HSPICE simulation tools. Simulation results show that the proposed test scheme offers better open-resistive fault detection compared to existing test schemes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=memory%20fault" title="memory fault">memory fault</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=memory%20test" title=" memory test"> memory test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=design-for-testability" title=" design-for-testability"> design-for-testability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resistive%20random%20access%20memory" title=" resistive random access memory"> resistive random access memory</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2242/enhanced-test-scheme-based-on-programmable-write-time-for-future-computer-memories" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2242.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">387</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> A Verification Intellectual Property for Multi-Flow Rate Control on Any Single Flow Bus Functional Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pawamana%20Ramachandra">Pawamana Ramachandra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jitesh%20Gupta"> Jitesh Gupta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saranga%20P.%20Pogula"> Saranga P. When any Software/Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) thread arbitration is left to the simulator (e.g., Verilog Compiler Simulator (VCS) or Incisive Enterprise Simulator core simulation engine (NCSIM)), it is hard to predict its pattern of resulting distribution of bandwidth by the simulator thread arbitration. In many cases, the patterns desired in a test scenario may not be accomplished as the simulator might give a different distribution than what was required. This can lead to missing multiple traffic scenarios, specifically deadlock and starvation related. We invented a component (namely Flow Manager Verification IP) to be intervening between the application (test case) and the protocol VIP (with UVM sequencer) to control the bandwidth per thread/virtual channel/flow. The Flow Manager has knobs visible to the UVM sequence/test to configure the required distribution of rate per thread/virtual channel/flow. This works seamlessly and produces rate stimuli to further harness the Design Under Test (DUT) with asymmetric inputs compared to the programmed bandwidth/Quality of Service (QoS) distributions in the Design Under Test. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flow%20manager" title="flow manager">flow manager</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UVM%20sequencer" title=" UVM sequencer"> UVM sequencer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rated%20traffic%20generation" title=" rated traffic generation"> rated traffic generation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quality%20of%20service" title=" quality of service"> quality of service</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168765/a-verification-intellectual-property-for-multi-flow-rate-control-on-any-single-flow-bus-functional-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168765.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">99</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> A Memristive Device with Intrinsic Rectification Behavior and Performace of Crossbar Arrays</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yansong%20Gao">Yansong Gao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Damith%20C.Ranasinghe"> Damith C.Ranasinghe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siad%20F.%20Al-Sarawi"> Siad F. However, the greatest problem of crossbar array is the sneak path current. In this paper, we investigate one type of memristive device with intrinsic rectification behavior to address the sneak path currents. Firstly, a SPICE behavior model written in Verilog-A language of the memristive device is presented to fit experimental data published in literature. Next, systematic performance simulations including read margin and power consumption of crossbar array, which uses the self-rectifying memristive device as storage element at cross-point, with respect to different crossbar sizes, interconnect resistance, ratio of HRS/LRS (High Resistance State/ Low Resistance State), rectification ratio and different read schemes are conducted. Subsequently, Trade-offs among reading margin, power consumption, and reading schemes are analyzed to provide guidelines for circuit design. Finally, performance comparison between the memristive device with/without intrinsic rectification behavior is given to show the worthiness of this intrinsic rectification behavior. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=memristive%20device" title="memristive device">memristive device</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=memristor" title=" memristor"> memristor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crossbar" title=" crossbar"> crossbar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RRAM" title=" RRAM"> RRAM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=read%20margin" title=" read margin"> read margin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20consumption" title=" power consumption"> power consumption</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26378/a-memristive-device-with-intrinsic-rectification-behavior-and-performace-of-crossbar-arrays" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26378.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">436</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Unsupervised Feature Learning by Pre-Route Simulation of Auto-Encoder Behavior Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Youngjae%20Jin">Youngjae Jin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daeshik%20Kim"> Daeshik Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper describes a cycle accurate simulation results of weight values learned by an auto-encoder behavior model in terms of pre-route simulation. Given the results we visualized the first layer representations with natural images. Many common deep learning threads have focused on learning high-level abstraction of unlabeled raw data by unsupervised feature learning. However, in the process of handling such a huge amount of data, the learning method鈥檚 computation complexity and time limited advanced research. These limitations came from the fact these algorithms were computed by using only single core CPUs. For this reason, parallel-based hardware, FPGAs, was seen as a possible solution to overcome these limitations. We adopted and simulated the ready-made auto-encoder to design a behavior model in Verilog HDL before designing hardware. With the auto-encoder behavior model pre-route simulation, we obtained the cycle accurate results of the parameter of each hidden layer by using MODELSIM. The cycle accurate results are very important factor in designing a parallel-based digital hardware. Finally this paper shows an appropriate operation of behavior model based pre-route simulation. Moreover, we visualized learning latent representations of the first hidden layer with Kyoto natural image dataset. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
