She has taken over the bar and is a friend and confidant to Murphy and the gang. Daly will join star Candice Bergen, who is back as the famous investigative journalist and TV anchor at the FYI network in the reboot, along with Faith Ford (perky anchor Corky Sherwood), Joe Regalbuto (investigative reporter Frank Fontana) and Grant Shaud (executive producer Miles Silverberg) who are all reprising their original roles from the hit comedy. Jake McDorman and Nik Dodani also will join the cast. CBS gave a 13-episode series order to the current-day revival, spearheaded by original’s creator Diane English and studio Warner Bros. TV, which will come on the 30th anniversary of the original series. Murphy Brown returns to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate. Daly has a long history at CBS having had major roles in three series for the network, Cagney & Lacey, Christy and Judging Amy, which earned her a total of six Emmy awards. She also won a Tony for her starring role in the Broadway revival of Gypsy. On the film side, Daly was most recently seen in Spider Man: Homecoming. Warner Bros. Lacy</em> and <em>Judging Am</em>y will play Phyllis, the sister of the beloved, deceased bar owner Phil from the original series, and it’s evident that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. She has taken over the bar and is a friend and confidant to Murphy and the gang.</p> <p>Daly will join star Candice Bergen, who is back as the famous investigative journalist and TV anchor at the FYI network in the reboot, along with Faith Ford (perky anchor Corky Sherwood), Joe Regalbuto (investigative reporter Frank Fontana) and Grant Shaud (executive producer Miles Silverberg) who are all reprising their original roles from the hit comedy. Jake McDorman and Nik Dodani also will join the cast.</p> <p><div class="admz" id="adm-inline-article-ad-1"> <div class="adma google-publisher" data-device="Desktop" data-width="1"> <div class="pmc-adm-goog-pub-div "> <div id="gpt-dsk-tab-mid-article1-uid0" class="ad-rotatable adw-1 adh-1"></div> </div> </div> </div> </p> <p>CBS gave a 13-episode series order to the current-day revival, spearheaded by original’s creator Diane English and studio Warner Bros. TV, which will come on the 30th anniversary of the original series. <em>Murphy Brown</em> returns to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate.</p> <p>Daly has a long history at CBS having had major roles in three series for the network, <em>Cagney & Lacey, Christy</em> and <em>Judging Amy,</em> which earned her a total of six Emmy awards. She also won a Tony for her starring role in the Broadway revival of <em>Gypsy. </em> On the film side, Daly was most recently seen in <em>Spider Man: Homecoming.</em></p> <p>Warner Bros. TV will produce the new multi-cam comedy with English serving as writer/executive producer through her Bend in the Road Productions banner. Bergen will also be an executive producer.</p> <p>During the show’s original run on CBS, <em>Murphy Brown</em> received 62 Emmy nominations (with 18 wins), 15 Golden Globe nominations (with three wins), three Screen Actors Guild Awards, five Directors Guild nominations (with two wins) and four Writers Guild nominations (with two wins).
