To address this issue, maximising yield per unit hectare through quality planting material is of great importance. Breeding for improved planting materials has been a continuous effort since the early days of this industry, it is time-consuming, and the likelihood of segregation within the progenies further impedes progress in this area. Incorporation of the cloning technology in oil palm breeding programmes is therefore advantageous to expedite the development of commercial elite and high-yielding planting materials. After more than 22 years of research and development through this project, reliable protocols for liquid/suspension culture systems coupled with various innovative technologies which are effective at promoting proliferation and growth of oil palm culture have been established. Subsequently, clonal palms derived from the suspension culture system were extensively studied in the field, and the results have been encouraging. Clones such as CPS1, CPS2 and a few others recorded superior performance in comparison with D x P standard crosses. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tissue%20culture" title="tissue culture">tissue culture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suspension%20culture" title=" suspension culture"> suspension culture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oil%20palm" title=" oil palm"> oil palm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elaeis%20guineensis" title=" Elaeis guineensis"> Elaeis guineensis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141618/establishment-and-improvement-of-oil-palm-liquid-culture-for-clonal-propagation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141618.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">190</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">81</span> Challenges and Opportunities in Modelling Energy Behavior of Household in Malaysia </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zuhaina%20Zakaria">Zuhaina Zakaria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noraliza%20Hamzah"> Noraliza Hamzah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Halijjah%20Shariff"> Siti Halijjah Shariff</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noor%20Aizah%20Abdul%20Karim"> Noor Aizah Abdul Karim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The residential sector in Malaysia has become the single largest energy sector accounting for 21% of the entire energy usage of the country. In the past 10 years, a number of energy efficiency initiatives in the residential sector had been undertaken by the government including. However, there is no clear evidence that the total residential energy consumption has been reduced substantially via these strategies. Household electrical appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, lighting and televisions are used depending on the consumers’ activities. The behavior of household occupants played an important role in energy consumption and influenced the operation of the physical devices. Therefore, in order to ensure success in energy efficiency program, it requires not only the technological aspect but also the consumers’ behaviors component. This paper focuses on the challenges and opportunities in modelling residential consumer behavior in Malaysia. A field survey to residential consumers was carried out and responses from the survey were analyzed to determine the consumers’ level of knowledge and awareness on energy efficiency. The analyses will be used in determining a right framework to explain household energy use intentions and behavior. These findings will be beneficial to power utility company and energy regulator in addressing energy efficiency related issues. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=consumer%20behavior%20theories" title="consumer behavior theories">consumer behavior theories</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20efficiency" title=" energy efficiency"> energy efficiency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=household%20occupants" title=" household occupants"> household occupants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residential%20consumer" title=" residential consumer"> residential consumer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53418/challenges-and-opportunities-in-modelling-energy-behavior-of-household-in-malaysia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53418.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">333</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">80</span> Exploring Individual and Team Approaches in Crafting Workplace Inclusivity for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Employees in Malaysia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nor%20Wahiza%20Abdul%20Wahat">Nor Wahiza Abdul Wahat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nor%20Haniza%20Abdul%20Wahat"> Nor Haniza Abdul Wahat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Noormi%20Alias"> Siti Noormi Alias</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamad%20Sazali%20Shaari"> Mohamad Sazali Shaari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study prepares the groundwork for the development of a strategic model and instrument for workplace inclusivity for deaf and hard-of-hearing employees in Malaysia. In the past, scholars have discussed inclusivity of workplaces to the extent to which employees feel they are significantly part of the organizational processes. Such processes include access to information, connectedness to colleagues and team members as well as their ability to participate in and influence decision-making processes. A qualitative study was conducted to explore on experiences of employed deaf and hard-of-hearing employees in a few Malaysian organizations. Data were collected from two focus group discussions involving male and female deaf and hard of hearing employees. Three in-depth interviews were also conducted with employer representatives. Generated themes highlighted individual, and team approaches towards crafting workplace inclusivity for deaf and hard of hearing employees in Malaysia. The adaptiveness of deaf and hard-of-hearing employees and social inclusion by colleagues were among the emerged sub-themes. This study allowed the researchers to further develop workplace inclusivity instruments and models for the benefit of deaf and hard of hearing Malaysian employees, as well as their employers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deaf" title="deaf">deaf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hard%20of%20hearing" title=" hard of hearing"> hard of hearing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=workplace%20inclusivity" title=" workplace inclusivity"> workplace inclusivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disabilities" title=" disabilities"> disabilities</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150199/exploring-individual-and-team-approaches-in-crafting-workplace-inclusivity-for-deaf-and-hard-of-hearing-employees-in-malaysia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150199.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">174</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">79</span> A Preliminary Investigation on Factors that Influence Malaysian Road User’s Close Following Behaviour</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Hikmah%20Musthar">Siti Hikmah Musthar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmad%20Saifizul"> Ahmad Saifizul</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Rehan%20Karim"> Mohamed Rehan Karim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jamilah%20Mohamad"> Jamilah Mohamad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farah%20Fazlinda%20Mohamad"> Farah Fazlinda Mohamad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper aims to look at the situation of close following behaviour from the introductory phase before conducting a profound investigation and discussion on this subject. Close following behaviour is known as behaviour during when drivers follow front vehicle with headways lower than two-second. As such, the study of close-following is important due to the degree of negative consequences this behaviour can cause commonly identified as rear-end collision especially when road safety is concerned. This paper presents a preliminary results of close-following behaviour among selected respondents (n=515) in Peninsular Malaysia at selected highways and federal roads. Respondents were interviewed with survey questions tending to examine their actual driving behaviour related to close-following and their perception towards the subject of close following. Selected findings (four selected questions) are discussed in this paper of which identified as essential for deliberation (as opposed to other questions in the survey questionnaire) as far as a preliminary discussion is concerned. Through the statistical test of one-way ANOVA, study found that gender of drivers is not significant to influence drivers to close follow but instead, type of vehicle the respondent drives had more significant to influence drivers to have tendency to perform close following behaviour. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=close-following" title="close-following">close-following</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=driver%20behaviour" title=" driver behaviour"> driver behaviour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rear-end%20crash" title=" rear-end crash"> rear-end crash</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=road%20safety" title=" road safety "> road safety </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35228/a-preliminary-investigation-on-factors-that-influence-malaysian-road-users-close-following-behaviour" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35228.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">420</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">78</span> 2D Numerical Modeling for Induced Current Distribution in Soil under Lightning Impulse Discharge</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fawwaz%20Eniola%20Fajingbesi">Fawwaz Eniola Fajingbesi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nur%20Shahida%20Midia"> Nur Shahida Midia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elsheikh%20M.%20A.%20Elsheikh"> Elsheikh M. Hence, design and optimization of efficient grounding systems depending on real time empirical methods are impeded. Using numerical methods, the dynamics of complex systems could be modeled hence solved as sets of linear and non-linear systems . In this work, the induced current distribution as lightning strike traverses the soil have been numerically modeled in a 2D axial-symmetry and solved using finite element method (FEM) in COMSOL Multiphysics 5.2 AC/DC module. Stratified and non- stratified electrode system were considered in the solved model and soil conductivity (σ) varied between 10 – 58 mS/m. The result discussed therein were the electric field distribution, current distribution and soil ionization phenomena. It can be concluded that the electric field and current distribution is influenced by the injected electric potential and the non-linearity in soil conductivity. The result from numerical calculation also agrees with previously laboratory scale empirical results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=current%20distribution" title="current distribution">current distribution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=grounding%20systems" title=" grounding systems"> grounding systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lightning%20discharge" title=" lightning discharge"> lightning discharge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numerical%20model" title=" numerical model"> numerical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20conductivity" title=" soil conductivity"> soil conductivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20ionization" title=" soil ionization"> soil ionization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89250/2d-numerical-modeling-for-induced-current-distribution-in-soil-under-lightning-impulse-discharge" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89250.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">312</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">77</span> Immuno-field Effect Transistor Using Carbon Nanotubes Network – Based for Human Serum Albumin Highly Sensitive Detection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhamad%20Azuddin%20Hassan">Muhamad Azuddin Hassan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Shafura%20Karim"> Siti Shafura Karim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ambri%20Mohamed"> Ambri Mohamed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iskandar%20Yahya"> Iskandar Yahya</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Human serum albumin plays a significant part in the physiological functions of the human body system (HSA).HSA level monitoring is critical for early detection of HSA-related illnesses. The goal of this study is to show that a field effect transistor (FET)-based immunosensor can assess HSA using high aspect ratio carbon nanotubes network (CNT) as a transducer. The CNT network were deposited using air brush technique, and the FET device was made using a shadow mask process. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and a current-voltage measurement system were used to examine the morphology and electrical properties of the CNT network, respectively. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to confirm the surface alteration of the CNT. The detection process is based on covalent binding interactions between an antibody and an HSA target, which resulted in a change in the manufactured biosensor's drain current (Id).In a linear range between 1 ng/ml and 10zg/ml, the biosensor has a high sensitivity of 0.826 mA (g/ml)-1 and a LOD value of 1.9zg/ml.HSA was also identified in a genuine serum despite interference from other biomolecules, demonstrating the CNT-FET immunosensor's ability to quantify HSA in a complex biological environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20nanotubes%20network" title="carbon nanotubes network">carbon nanotubes network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biosensor" title=" biosensor"> biosensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human%20serum%20albumin" title=" human serum albumin"> human serum albumin</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145494/immuno-field-effect-transistor-using-carbon-nanotubes-network-based-for-human-serum-albumin-highly-sensitive-detection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145494.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">76</span> Profiling on the Holistic Identity of Malaysian Gifted Learners</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rorlinda%20Yusof">Rorlinda Yusof</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Aishah%20Hassan"> Siti Aishah Hassan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Afifah%20Mohamad%20Radzi"> Afifah Mohamad Radzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohd%20Hakimie%20Zainal%20Abidin"> Mohd Hakimie Zainal Abidin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amran%20Rasli"> Amran Rasli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Inderbir%20Sandhu"> Inderbir Sandhu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purpose of this study is to examine the self-identities of gifted and talented students and the relationship between self-identity and academic accomplishment. A random sample of 300 students enrolled in a secondary education programme at the Pusat GENIUS@pintar Negara was chosen as respondents of a 151-item holistic-identity component development tool. The validity of the instrument was assessed using Principal Components Analysis and Factor Analysis via an inter-Item Correlation Matrix (Loading values 0.44 to 0.86), which resulted in the formation of eight dimensions. The Cronbach's Alpha was calculated to determine the instrument's reliability (the overall result was 0.98). The results showed that students' holistic-identity profiles were relatively high (mean=4.09, standard deviation=0.449). In addition, spiritual identity received the greatest mean score (4.34) out of the eight components of identity investigated, while leadership identity received the lowest mean score (3.88). A conceptual framework for Islamic school leadership is recommended to implement spiritual values without differentiation to harmonize spiritual and intellectual intelligence among all the students. Some benchmarking studies with other centres for gifted and talented students are recommended for further research. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=holistic%20self-identity" title="holistic self-identity">holistic self-identity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=academic%20achievement" title=" academic achievement"> academic achievement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-development%20programme" title=" self-development programme"> self-development programme</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=counselling%20services" title=" counselling services"> counselling services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gifted%20and%20talented%20students" title=" gifted and talented students"> gifted and talented students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156156/profiling-on-the-holistic-identity-of-malaysian-gifted-learners" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156156.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">112</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">75</span> Kinetics of Hydrogen Sulfide Removal from Biogas Using Biofilm on Packed Bed of Salak Fruit Seeds</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Retno%20A.%20S.%20Lestari">Retno A. The performance of the developed AGS in the removal of organic matter and nutrients from wastewater was also investigated. The operation of the reactor was based on the sequencing batch system with a complete cycle time of 3 hours that included feeding, aeration, settling, discharging and idling. The reactor was seeded with sludge collected from the municipal wastewater treatment plant in Madinah city, Saudi Arabia and operated at a temperature of 40ºC using synthetic wastewater as influent. Results showed that granular sludge was developed after an operation period of 30 days. The developed granular sludge had a good settling ability with the average size of the granules ranging from 1.03 to 2.42 mm. The removal efficiency of chemical oxygen demand (COD), ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) and total phosphorus (TP) were 87.31%, 91.93% and 61.25% respectively. These results show that AGS can be developed at elevated temperatures and it is a promising technique to treat domestic wastewater in hot and low humidity climate conditions such as those encountered in Saudi Arabia. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerobic%20granular%20sludge" title="aerobic granular sludge">aerobic granular sludge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hot%20climate" title=" hot climate"> hot climate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sequencing%20batch%20reactor" title=" sequencing batch reactor"> sequencing batch reactor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=domestic%20wastewater%20treatment" title=" domestic wastewater treatment"> domestic wastewater treatment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15958/development-and-performance-of-aerobic-granular-sludge-at-elevated-temperature" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15958.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">358</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">73</span> Health Promotion Program on Prevention of Zoonotic Diseases among Aborigines in Peninsular Malaysia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Fatimah%20Kader%20Maideen">Siti Fatimah Kader Maideen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdul%20Rashid"> Abdul Rashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nur%20Indah%20Ahmad"> Nur Indah Ahmad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Indigenous people have an increased risk of contracting zoonotic infections due to their practices. Similarly, the aborigines in Peninsular Malaysia, the Orang Asli, have a higher risk too. This study aimed to empower the Jahai children on the prevention of zoonotic infections by implementing a health promotion intervention program. Methods: A non-experimental pre and post-test interventional study was conducted among the indigenous primary school children aged between nine and 12 years in Perak, Malaysia. A structured questionnaire was used to assess the pre-and post-knowledge and attitudes towards zoonotic infections and hand hygiene practice. This is followed by three sessions of the health promotion program. Ethical approval was obtained prior to the data collection. Data were analysed using SPSS software. Results: The knowledge on whether diseases can spread from animals to humans, transmission via saliva and faeces, types of organisms that can infect, and signs and symptoms increased significantly between pre and post. Significant improvements were observed in the attitude and practices too. Conclusion: The intervention program demonstrated improvement in the knowledge, attitude, and practice among the children. The continuous program needs to be conducted for a sustainable outcome. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20promotion" title="health promotion">health promotion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=zoonotic%20infections" title=" zoonotic infections"> zoonotic infections</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aborigines" title=" aborigines"> aborigines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knowledge" title=" knowledge"> knowledge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=practice" title=" practice"> practice</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137106/health-promotion-program-on-prevention-of-zoonotic-diseases-among-aborigines-in-peninsular-malaysia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137106.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">165</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">72</span> Predicting Root Cause of a Fire Incident through Transient Simulation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mira%20Ezora%20Zainal%20Abidin">Mira Ezora Zainal Abidin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Fauzuna%20Othman"> Siti Fauzuna Othman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zalina%20Harun"> Zalina Harun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Hafiz%20M.%20Pikri"> M. Instrumentation and fittings were destroyed in the fire. To make it worst, this incident occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, making collecting and testing evidence delayed. In addition to that, the storage tank belonged to a third-party company which requires legal agreement prior to the refinery getting approval to test the remains. Despite all that, the investigation had to be carried out with stakeholders demanding answers. The investigation team had to devise alternative means to support whatever little evidence came out as the most probable root cause. International standards, practices, and previous incidents on similar tanks were referred. To narrow down to just one root cause from 8 possible causes, transient simulations were conducted to simulate the overpressure scenarios to prove and eliminate the other causes, leaving one root cause. This paper shares the methodology used and details how transient simulations were applied to help solve this. The experience and lessons learned gained from the event investigation and from numerous case studies via transient analysis in finding the root cause of the accident leads to the formulation of future mitigations and design modifications aiming at preventing such incidents or at least minimize the consequences from the fire incident. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fire" title="fire">fire</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transient" title=" transient"> transient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulation" title=" simulation"> simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relief" title=" relief"> relief</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166904/predicting-root-cause-of-a-fire-incident-through-transient-simulation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166904.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">95</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">71</span> A Two-Stage Adaptation towards Automatic Speech Recognition System for Malay-Speaking Children</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mumtaz%20Begum%20Mustafa">Mumtaz Begum Mustafa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Salwah%20Salim"> Siti Salwah Salim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Feizal%20Dani%20Rahman"> Feizal Dani Rahman</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Recently, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems were used to assist children in language acquisition as it has the ability to detect human speech signal. Despite the benefits offered by the ASR system, there is a lack of ASR systems for Malay-speaking children. One of the contributing factors for this is the lack of continuous speech database for the target users. Though cross-lingual adaptation is a common solution for developing ASR systems for under-resourced language, it is not viable for children as there are very limited speech databases as a source model. In this research, we propose a two-stage adaptation for the development of ASR system for Malay-speaking children using a very limited database. The two stage adaptation comprises the cross-lingual adaptation (first stage) and cross-age adaptation. For the first stage, a well-known speech database that is phonetically rich and balanced, is adapted to the medium-sized Malay adults using supervised MLLR. The second stage adaptation uses the speech acoustic model generated from the first adaptation, and the target database is a small-sized database of the target users. We have measured the performance of the proposed technique using word error rate, and then compare them with the conventional benchmark adaptation. The two stage adaptation proposed in this research has better recognition accuracy as compared to the benchmark adaptation in recognizing children’s speech. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Automatic%20Speech%20Recognition%20System" title="Automatic Speech Recognition System">Automatic Speech Recognition System</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=children%20speech" title=" children speech"> children speech</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptation" title=" adaptation"> adaptation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Malay" title=" Malay"> Malay</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46534/a-two-stage-adaptation-towards-automatic-speech-recognition-system-for-malay-speaking-children" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46534.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">397</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">70</span> Hydrogen Sulfide Removal from Biogas Using Biofilm on Packed Bed of Salak Fruit Seeds</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Retno%20A.%20S.%20Lestari">Retno A. In Malaysia, the engagement of Malaysian Law Enforcement Agencies (MLEA) with this new technology is not evenly distributed. To investigate the factors influencing the adoption of DF in Malaysia law enforcement agencies’ operational environment, this study proposed the initial theoretical framework based on the integration of technology organization environment (TOE), institutional theory, and human organization technology (HOT) fit model. A questionnaire survey was conducted on selected law enforcement agencies in Malaysia to verify the validity of the initial integrated framework. Relative advantage, compatibility, coercive pressure, normative pressure, vendor support and perceived technical competence of technical staff were found as the influential factors on digital forensics adoption. In addition to the only moderator of this study (agency size), any significant moderating effect on the perceived technical competence and the decision to adopt digital forensics by Malaysian law enforcement agencies was found insignificant. Thus, these results indicated that the developed integrated framework provides an effective prediction of the digital forensics adoption by Malaysian law enforcement agencies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20forensics" title="digital forensics">digital forensics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20forensics%20adoption" title=" digital forensics adoption"> digital forensics adoption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20information" title=" digital information"> digital information</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=law%20enforcement%20agency" title=" law enforcement agency"> law enforcement agency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103036/organizational-decision-to-adopt-digital-forensics-an-empirical-investigation-in-the-case-of-malaysian-law-enforcement-agencies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103036.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">151</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">68</span> Nano-Coating for Corrosion Prevention</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20J.%20Suriani">M. Istana Budaya has at least one musical of any politician since then. Normally, the politicians are former Prime Ministers and renowned ministers prior to Malaysia's independence in 1957. The first performance in Istana Budaya which represented a politician as a theme was Muzikal Cheng Lock (2007) followed by Muzikal Tun Abdul Razak (2009), Muzikal Tun Mahathir (2010), and Muzikal Tun Mahathir 2 (2011). In 2012, Lawak Ke Der has changed the trend with comic performance and put an end to politician musical. Tun Siti Hasmah the Musical (2012) is not listed in the research because she did not hold any position as a minister. This qualitative research focuses on musicals of political figures as a theme. Some factors of making this type of performance are analyzed based on Istana Budaya’s decisions during that time in Malaysia between 2007 and 2011. This research aims to document these musical themed performances in Istana Budaya for further research in the future. Political performances are listed and analyzed from 2007 to 2012 based on reports and previous research. The declination of audiences in 2012 and a new theme in theatre performances in Istana Budaya are important factors for the downfall of the political theatres' theme. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=musical" title="musical">musical</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=politician" title=" politician"> politician</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Istana%20Budaya" title=" Istana Budaya"> Istana Budaya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=theatre" title=" theatre"> theatre</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88993/prime-ministers-of-malaysia-musicals-political-performances-trend-in-istana-budaya-2007-2012" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88993.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">191</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">65</span> Bioremediation of Disposed X-Ray Film for Nanoparticles Production</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Essam%20A.%20Makky">Essam A. Here, the biological methods were used and give benefits in research field in the aspect of very low cost (from waste to wealth) and safe time as well. The study aims to isolate and exploit the microbial power in the production of industrially important by-products in nano-size with high economic value, to extract highly valuable materials from hazardous waste, to quantify nano particle size, and characterization of SNPs by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis. Disposal X-ray films were used as substrate because it consumes about 1000 tons of total silver chemically produced worldwide annually. This silver is being wasted when these films are used and disposed. Different bacterial isolates were obtained from various sources. Silver was extracted as nano particles by microbial power degradation from disposal X-ray film as the sole carbon source for ten days incubation period in darkness. The protein content was done and all the samples were analyzed using XRD, to characterize of silver (Ag) nano particles size in the form of silver nitrite. Bacterial isolates CL4C showed the average size of SNPs about 19.53 nm, GL7 showed average size about 52.35 nm and JF Outer 2A (PDA) showed 13.52 nm. All bacterial isolates partially identified using Gram’s reaction and the results obtained exhibited that belonging to Bacillus sp. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanotechnology" title="nanotechnology">nanotechnology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bioremediation" title=" bioremediation"> bioremediation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disposal%20X-ray%20film" title=" disposal X-ray film"> disposal X-ray film</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoparticle" title=" nanoparticle"> nanoparticle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=waste" title=" waste"> waste</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=XRD" title=" XRD"> XRD</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18719/bioremediation-of-disposed-x-ray-film-for-nanoparticles-production" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18719.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">483</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">64</span> The Relation of Water Intake with Level of Knowledge Related to Water Intake in Workers of Food Production Unit, Nutrition Installation at Puspa Hospital, Jakarta</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Rahmah%20Fitrianti">Siti Rahmah Fitrianti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mela%20Milani"> Mela Milani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Inadequate of water intake has negative effects on the health of the body, which can cause kidney failure and death. One of the factors that can affect someone intake of water is level of knowledge about the importance of water intake itself. A good knowledge of the daily water intake can increase the awareness of daily needed of water intake. Therefore, researchers initiated a study on the relationship of water intake to the level of knowledge related with water intake in food workers, at “Puspa” Hospital. Type of this research is quantitative research with cross-sectional approach. The research data was collected by measuring the independent and dependent variable at a time. This study took place in the food production unit of Nutrition Installation in "Puspa" Hospital, Jakarta in October 2016. The population target in this study were workers in food production unit aged 30-64 years. The instrument was a questionnaire question regarding water intake and 24 hours food recall. The result is 78.6% of respondents have less knowledge about the importance of water intake. Meanwhile, as many as 85.7% of respondents have adequate water intake. Tested by Chi-Square test, showed that no significant relationship between water intake with the level of knowledge related to water intake in workers of food production unit. Adequate intake of water in food workers commonly may be not caused by the level of knowledge related to water intake, but it may be cause of work environment factor which has a high temperature. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20production%20unit" title="food production unit">food production unit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20workers" title=" food workers"> food workers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=level%20of%20knowledge" title=" level of knowledge"> level of knowledge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20intake" title=" water intake"> water intake</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63242/the-relation-of-water-intake-with-level-of-knowledge-related-to-water-intake-in-workers-of-food-production-unit-nutrition-installation-at-puspa-hospital-jakarta" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63242.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">347</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">63</span> Characterization of Shear and Extensional Rheology of Fibre Suspensions Prior to Atomization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20N.%20M.%20Rozali">Siti N. In this project, pomace fibres will be used as a drying aid during spray drying, replacing the commonly used maltodextrins. The main attraction of this drying aid is that the pomace fibres are originally derived from the fruit itself. However, the addition of micro-sized fibres to fruit juices is expected to affect the rheology and subsequent atomization behaviour during the spray drying process. This study focuses on the determination and characterization of the rheology of juice-fibre suspensions specifically inside a spray dryer nozzle. Results show that the juice-fibre suspensions exhibit shear thinning behaviour with a significant extensional viscosity. The shear and extensional viscosities depend on several factors which include fibre fraction, shape, size and aspect ratio. A commercial capillary rheometer is used to characterize the shear behaviour while a portable extensional rheometer has been designed and built to study the extensional behaviour. Methods and equipment will be presented along with the rheology results. Rheology or behaviour of the juice-fibre suspensions provides an insight into the limitations that will be faced during atomization, and in the future, this finding will assist in choosing the best nozzle design that can overcome the limitations introduced by the fibre particles thus resulting in successful spray drying of juice-fibre suspensions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extensional%20rheology" title="extensional rheology">extensional rheology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fibre%20suspensions" title=" fibre suspensions"> fibre suspensions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=portable%20extensional%20rheometer" title=" portable extensional rheometer"> portable extensional rheometer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shear%20rheology" title=" shear rheology"> shear rheology</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77661/characterization-of-shear-and-extensional-rheology-of-fibre-suspensions-prior-to-atomization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77661.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">204</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">62</span> The Promising Way to Minimize the Negative Effects of Iron Fortification</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Juffrie">M. Apart from providing facilities, services, and goods it also offers employment opportunities to local and foreign workers. In fact, the construction workers are exposed to a hazardous level of noises that generated from various sources including excavators, bulldozers, concrete mixer, and piling machines. Previous studies indicated that the piling and concrete work was recorded as the main source that contributed to the highest level of noise among the others. Therefore, the aim of this study is to obtain the noise exposure during piling process and to determine the awareness of workers against noise pollution at the construction site. Initially, the reading of noise was obtained at construction site by using a digital sound level meter (SLM), and noise exposure to the workers was mapped. Readings were taken from four different distances; 5, 10, 15 and 20 meters from the piling machine. Furthermore, a set of questionnaire was also distributed to assess the knowledge regarding noise pollution at the construction site. The result showed that the mean noise level at 5m distance was more than 90 dB which exceeded the recommended level. Although the level of awareness regarding the effect of noise pollution is satisfactory, majority of workers (90%) still did not wear ear protecting device during work period. Therefore, the safety module guidelines related to noise pollution controls should be implemented to provide a safe working environment and prevent initial occupational hearing loss. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=construction" title="construction">construction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=noise%20awareness" title=" noise awareness"> noise awareness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=noise%20pollution" title=" noise pollution"> noise pollution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piling%20machine" title=" piling machine"> piling machine</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54543/noise-measurement-and-awareness-at-construction-site-a-case-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54543.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">384</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">60</span> Modified Gold Screen Printed Electrode with Ruthenium Complex for Selective Detection of Porcine DNA</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Aishah%20Hasbullah">Siti Aishah Hasbullah</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Studies on identification of pork content in food have grown rapidly to meet the Halal food standard in Malaysia. The used mitochondria DNA (mtDNA) approaches for the identification of pig species is thought to be the most precise marker due to the mtDNA genes are present in thousands of copies per cell, the large variability of mtDNA. The standard method commonly used for DNA detection is based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method combined with gel electrophoresis but has major drawback. Its major drawbacks are laborious, need longer time and toxic to handle. Therefore, the need for simplicity and fast assay of DNA is vital and has triggered us to develop DNA biosensors for porcine DNA detection. Therefore, the aim of this project is to develop electrochemical DNA biosensor based on ruthenium (II) complex, [Ru(bpy)2(p-PIP)]2+ as DNA hybridization label. The interaction of DNA and [Ru(bpy)2(p-HPIP)]2+ will be studied by electrochemical transduction using Gold Screen-Printed Electrode (GSPE) modified with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and succinimide acrylic microspheres. The electrochemical detection by redox active ruthenium (II) complex was measured by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The results indicate that the interaction of [Ru(bpy)2(PIP)]2+ with hybridization complementary DNA has higher response compared to single-stranded and mismatch complementary DNA. Under optimized condition, this porcine DNA biosensor incorporated modified GSPE shows good linear range towards porcine DNA. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gold" title="gold">gold</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=screen%20printed%20electrode" title=" screen printed electrode"> screen printed electrode</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ruthenium" title=" ruthenium"> ruthenium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=porcine%20DNA" title=" porcine DNA"> porcine DNA</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68407/modified-gold-screen-printed-electrode-with-ruthenium-complex-for-selective-detection-of-porcine-dna" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68407.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">309</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">59</span> Property of Fermented Sweet Potato Flour and Its Suitability for Composite Noodle</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neti%20Yuliana">Neti Yuliana</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Srisetyani"> Srisetyani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Nurdjanah"> Siti Nurdjanah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dewi%20Sartika"> Dewi Sartika</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yoan%20Martiansari"> Yoan Martiansari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Putri%20Nabila"> Putri Nabila</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Naturally sweet potato flour usually requires a modification process to improve its inherent property for expanding its application in food system. The study was aimed to modify sweet potato flour (SPF), to increase its utilization for composite noodle production, trough fermentation of sweet potato slices before its flouring process. Fermentation were prepared with five different starters: pickle brine, Lactobacillus plantarum, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, mixed of Lactobacillus plantarum, Leuconostoc mesenteroides , and mixed of Lactobacillus plantarum, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, and Sacharomyces cerevisiae. Samples were withdrawn every 0, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. The fermented flours were characterized for swelling power, solubility, paste transmittance, pH, sensory properties (acidic aroma and whiteness), and the amount of broken composite noodle strips. The results indicated that there was no significant effect of different starters on fermented SPF characteristic and on the amount of broken noodle strip, while length of fermentation significantly affected. Longer fermentation, reaching 48-72 h, increased swelling power, pH, acidic aroma and whiteness of flour and reduced solubility, paste transmittance, and the amount of broken noodle strip. The results suggested that fermentation within 48-72 h period of time could provide great composite SPF for noodle. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=starters" title="starters">starters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fermented%20flour" title=" fermented flour"> fermented flour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sweet%20potato" title=" sweet potato"> sweet potato</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite%20noodle" title=" composite noodle"> composite noodle</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41234/property-of-fermented-sweet-potato-flour-and-its-suitability-for-composite-noodle" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41234.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">389</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">58</span> Power Relation, Symbolic Rules and the Position of Belis in the Habitus of the East Nusa Tenggara Society’s Customary Marriage</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Rodliyah">Siti Rodliyah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andrik%20Purwasito"> Andrik Purwasito</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bani%20Sudardi"> Bani Sudardi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdullah%20Wakit"> Abdullah Wakit</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study employs sociological-ethnographic basic method and the cultural studies paradigm as the approach in understanding the habitus within the customary marriage of the East Nusa Tenggara society who require belis as a bride-price. The conceptual basis underlying the application of habitus theory and symbolic power in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) society refers to the Bourdieu’s framework. This study is a result of participatory observation on habitus of a marital system using belis observed by the NTT society as a cognitive structure which connects individuals to the social activities of the customary marriage and makes it unquestionable habits. Knowledge of the social world under the pretext of prosperity for the recipients (family) of a bride-price can be a political instrument for the sustainability of power relations. The ritual-mythical system in the society has never been fully present as a neutral habit. The habitus reflected in the marital relationship among the NTT society enables the men to obtain and exercise their power relations. The sustainability of power relations can be seen from the representation of the social status of a girl and the properties attached to her. This is what gave birth to a symbolic rule, in which the social rules about bride-price or belis eventually will serve the interests of those who occupy a dominant position in the social structure, namely the rich men. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=belis" title="belis">belis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=habitus" title=" habitus"> habitus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=East%20Nusa%20Tenggara" title=" East Nusa Tenggara"> East Nusa Tenggara</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=marital%20system" title=" marital system"> marital system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power" title=" power"> power</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=symbolic" title=" symbolic"> symbolic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82678/power-relation-symbolic-rules-and-the-position-of-belis-in-the-habitus-of-the-east-nusa-tenggara-societys-customary-marriage" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82678.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">244</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">57</span> Patient’s Knowledge and Use of Sublingual Glyceryl Trinitrate Therapy in Taiping Hospital, Malaysia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wan%20Azuati%20Wan%20Omar">Wan Azuati Wan Omar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Selva%20Rani%20John%20Jasudass"> Selva Rani John Jasudass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Rohaiza%20Md.%20Saad"> Siti Rohaiza Md. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional survey, using a validated researcher-administered questionnaire. The study involved cardiac patients receiving sublingual GTN attending the outpatient and inpatient departments of Taiping Hospital, a non-academic public care hospital. The minimum calculated sample size was 92, but 100 patients were conveniently sampled. Respondents were interviewed on 3 areas, including demographic data, knowledge and use of sublingual GTN. Eight items were used to calculate each subject’s knowledge score and six items were used to calculate use score. Results: Of the 96 patients who consented to participate, majority (96.9%) were well aware of the indication of sublingual GTN. With regards to the mechanism of action of sublingual GTN, 73 (76%) patients did not know how the medication works. Majority of the patients (66.7%) knew about the proper storage of the tablet. In relation to the maximum number of sublingual GTN tablets that can be taken during each angina episode, 36.5% did not know that up to 3 tablets of sublingual GTN can be taken during each episode of angina. Fifty four (56.2%) patients were not aware that they need to replace sublingual GTN every 8 weeks after receiving the tablets. Majority (69.8%) of the patients demonstrated lack of knowledge with regards to the use of sublingual GTN as prevention of chest pain. Conclusion: Overall, patients’ knowledge regarding the self administration of sublingual GTN is still inadequate. The findings support the need for more frequent reinforcement of patient education, especially in the areas of preventive use, storage and drug stability. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glyceryl%20trinitrate" title="glyceryl trinitrate">glyceryl trinitrate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knowledge" title=" knowledge"> knowledge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adherence" title=" adherence"> adherence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=patient%20education" title=" patient education"> patient education</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9230/patients-knowledge-and-use-of-sublingual-glyceryl-trinitrate-therapy-in-taiping-hospital-malaysia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9230.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">397</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">56</span> Studies on Toxicity and Mechanical Properties of Nonmetallic Printed Circuit Boards Waste in Recycled HDPE Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shantha%20Kumari%20Muniyandi">Shantha Kumari Muniyandi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Johan%20Sohaili"> Johan Sohaili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Suhaila%20Mohamad"> Siti Suhaila Mohamad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this study was to investigate the suitability of reusing nonmetallic printed circuit boards (PCBs) waste in recycled HDPE (rHDPE) in terms of toxicity and mechanical properties. A series of X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (XRF) analysis tests have been conducted on raw nonmetallic PCBs waste to determine the chemical compositions. It can be seen that the nonmetallic PCBs approximately 72% of glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin materials such as SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, MgO, BaO, Na2O, and SrO, 9.4% of metallic materials such as CuO, SnO2, and Fe2O3, and 6.53% of Br. Total Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC) and Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) tests also have been done to study the toxicity characteristics of raw nonmetallic PCB powders, rHDPE/PCB and virgin HDPE for comparison purposes. For both of the testing, Cu was identified as the highest metal element contained in raw PCBs with the concentration of 905 mg/kg and 59.09 mg/L for TTLC and TCLP, respectively. However, once the nonmetallic PCB was filled in rHDPE composites, the concentrations of Cu were reduced to 134 mg/kg for TTLC and to 3 mg/L for TCLP testing. For mechanical properties testing, incorporation of 40 wt% nonmetallic PCB into rHDPE has increased the flexural modulus and flexural strength by 140% and 36%, respectively. While, Izod Impact strength decreased steadily with incorporation of 10 – 40 wt% nonmetallic PCBs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonmetallic%20printed%20circuit%20board" title="nonmetallic printed circuit board">nonmetallic printed circuit board</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recycled%20HDPE" title=" recycled HDPE"> recycled HDPE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composites" title=" composites"> composites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20properties" title=" mechanical properties"> mechanical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=total%20threshold%20limit%20concentration" title=" total threshold limit concentration"> total threshold limit concentration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=toxicity%20characteristic%20leaching%20procedure" title=" toxicity characteristic leaching procedure"> toxicity characteristic leaching procedure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1490/studies-on-toxicity-and-mechanical-properties-of-nonmetallic-printed-circuit-boards-waste-in-recycled-hdpe-composites" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1490.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">338</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">55</span> The Difference of Learning Outcomes in Reading Comprehension between Text and Film as The Media in Indonesian Language for Foreign Speaker in Intermediate Level</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Ayu%20Ningsih">Siti Ayu Ningsih</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study aims to find the differences outcomes in learning reading comprehension with text and film as media on Indonesian Language for foreign speaker (BIPA) learning at intermediate level. By using quantitative and qualitative research methods, the respondent of this study is a single respondent from D'Royal Morocco Integrative Islamic School in grade nine from secondary level. Quantitative method used to calculate the learning outcomes that have been given the appropriate action cycle, whereas qualitative method used to translate the findings derived from quantitative methods to be described. The technique used in this study is the observation techniques and testing work. Based on the research, it is known that the use of the text media is more effective than the film for intermediate level of Indonesian Language for foreign speaker learner. This is because, when using film the learner does not have enough time to take note the difficult vocabulary and don't have enough time to look for the meaning of the vocabulary from the dictionary. While the use of media texts shows the better effectiveness because it does not require additional time to take note the difficult words. For the words that are difficult or strange, the learner can immediately find its meaning from the dictionary. The presence of the text is also very helpful for Indonesian Language for foreign speaker learner to find the answers according to the questions more easily. By matching the vocabulary of the question into the text references. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Indonesian%20language%20for%20foreign%20speaker" title="Indonesian language for foreign speaker">Indonesian language for foreign speaker</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=learning%20outcome" title=" learning outcome"> learning outcome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=media" title=" media"> media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reading%20comprehension" title=" reading comprehension"> reading comprehension</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82676/the-difference-of-learning-outcomes-in-reading-comprehension-between-text-and-film-as-the-media-in-indonesian-language-for-foreign-speaker-in-intermediate-level" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82676.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">197</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">54</span> Hybrid Equity Warrants Pricing Formulation under Stochastic Dynamics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Teh%20Raihana%20Nazirah%20Roslan">Teh Raihana Nazirah Roslan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Zulaiha%20Ibrahim"> Siti Zulaiha Ibrahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sharmila%20Karim"> Sharmila Karim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A warrant is a financial contract that confers the right but not the obligation, to buy or sell a security at a certain price before expiration. The standard procedure to value equity warrants using call option pricing models such as the Black&ndash;Scholes model had been proven to contain many flaws, such as the assumption of constant interest rate and constant volatility. In fact, existing alternative models were found focusing more on demonstrating techniques for pricing, rather than empirical testing. Therefore, a mathematical model for pricing and analyzing equity warrants which comprises stochastic interest rate and stochastic volatility is essential to incorporate the dynamic relationships between the identified variables and illustrate the real market. Here, the aim is to develop dynamic pricing formulations for hybrid equity warrants by incorporating stochastic interest rates from the Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) model, along with stochastic volatility from the Heston model. The development of the model involves the derivations of stochastic differential equations that govern the model dynamics. The resulting equations which involve Cauchy problem and heat equations are then solved using partial differential equation approaches. The analytical pricing formulas obtained in this study comply with the form of analytical expressions embedded in the Black-Scholes model and other existing pricing models for equity warrants. This facilitates the practicality of this proposed formula for comparison purposes and further empirical study. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
