In the context of the tabernacle, olive oil was specifically used to fuel the lamps of the menorah, which was to burn continually before the Lord (<a href="/exodus/27-20.htm">Exodus 27:20-21</a>). The light from the menorah symbolized God's presence and guidance among His people.
