While it felt like a run-of-the-mill bottle episode for the summer medical series, there was one surprise highlight that helped move the show along: Lance Henriksen.</p> <p><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160616051432/http://zap2it.com/2016/06/the-night-shift-takes-dr-drew-back-to-afghanistan-but-wheres-rick/" target="_blank">RELATED: ‘The Night Shift’ takes Dr. Drew back to Afghanistan … but where’s Rick?</a></p> <p>Yes, that’s right, the genre favorite — known for his work in the “Alien” film franchise, “The Terminator” and countless other movies and TV shows — showed up the medical drama as a man of failing cardiac health named Clive. He may have appeared for no more than five minutes total, but it was these two scenes that really breathed life into the mostly yawn-worthy episode.</p> <p>From playing craps at the casino to almost dying on its floor, it feels like the motivation behind this character was to give a T.C. (Eoin Macken) a reflection — or even a warning — of where his life may take him if he doesn’t get a handle on his emotions. We get the feeling the romance between him and Jordan (Jill Flint) is not completely dead. Could a dying old man be the key to waking the motorcycle doctor up?
