Ambos se hicieron futbolistas y se transformaron en los primeros chilenos en jugar en la liga inglesa y en titularse campeones defendiendo los colores del Newclastle (1948-53).</p> <p><a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/01/30/la-era-robledo/" target="_blank">Jorge Robledo</a> fue el más conocido de los dos hermanos, delantero potente, goleador. Dejó una huella única en el fútbol chileno (incluso se llegó hablar de la “Era Robledo”). Eduardo o más conocido como Ted jugaba con la 6. Tenía un físico destacado y junto a su hermano construyeron una destacada carrera: Barnesley FC (1946-48), Colo – Colo (1953-56), seleccionados chilenos.</p> <p>Ted se retira en 1958 jugando sus dos últimos años en el Notts County. Regresó a Chile y ejerció como técnico electrónico en la plante de rastreo satelital que la NASA instaló en aquellos años en Chile. Pero en 1965 el fútbol retornó a su vida y se aventuró como DT en el Once Municipal de El Salvador. Duró poco como técnico. A los pocos años comenzó a trabajar para la petrolera estadounidense Internacional Drilling Co.</p> <p>En Brasil instaló torres, después el trabajo lo llevó a África y el Golfo Pérsico donde encontró la muerte en 1971. Desde Dibbah, Omán, la noticia de France Presse golpeó duro a su hermano Jorge. “Asesinado Ted Robledo. Se abre investigación en el sultanato de Omán”.</p> <p>Ted Robledo fue un tipo muy reservado. Podía pasar horas en silencio, pese que además del español, dominaba el inglés y el alemán.</p> <p>La causa se cerró 3 meses después del juicio. El único acusado, el capitán del barco “Assahm” Heinz Bessenich fue absuelto por falta de pruebas. Tenía 42 años, era un “patiperro” y una historia ligada al fútbol eclipsada por el enorme brillo de su hermano Jorge. Por TV quedó claro que Inglaterra había sido superior, pero gracias a <a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/01/09/el-dia-que-condor-hizo-ver-todo-rojo-a-brasil-parte-i/" target="_blank">Roberto Rojas</a> el partido jugado por Chile en Wembley no habría podido terminar a cero. Corría 1989 y la Federación Inglesa juramentaba no invitar nunca más a “La Roja” por su patético espectáculo. ¿Y cuál había sido ese espectáculo? Jugar a la defensiva, reventar el balón hasta el río Támesis, ser verdaderos murciélagos colgados del travesaño y esperar el “milagro” de un contragolpe para hacer el “golcito salvador”.</p> <p>Pasaron los años, algunos muy malos, otros no tantos. Pero siempre existió la sensación por parte del hincha que Chile pocas veces se paraba de igual a igual con sus rivales. La clasificación a Francia ´98 se cimentó en el Estadio Nacional o la Copa Libertadores de Colo-Colo en 1991 no se obtuvieron triunfos de visita. Faltaba el cambio de mentalidad, salir de “la ratonera” decían otros.</p> <p>La llegada de Harold Mayne-Nicholls a la ANFP el 2007 significaba la esperanza de un cambio que al comienzo no se vio. Este dirigente de alto prestigio en la FIFA entró a la cancha chica del fútbol chileno… le costó acostumbrarse al perfil criollo de nuestra dirigencia, pero poco a poco comenzó a sanear el fútbol chileno. Indudablemente la contratación de <a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2008/09/11/¿estamos-todos-locos/" target="_blank">Marcelo Bielsa</a> fue su gran apuesta. Se alzaron las voces que por qué no un técnico chileno, que como se podía pagar un sueldo tan alto, que había fracaso con Argentina en la Copa del Mundo de 2002. En fin, el clásico “chaqueteo” de Chile.</p> <p>Mayne-Nicholls y Bielsa conformaron una verdadera dupla ganadora. Entre el 2007 y 2010 Chile organizó una Copa del Mundo Juvenil Femenina, salió 3º en la Copa del Mundo Juvenil jugada en Canadá, obtuvo una semifinal, 2º y 1º lugar en tres participaciones del prestigioso Torneo de Esperanzas de Toulón, 2º en las Clasificatorias para Sudáfrica 2010, dos triunfos seguidos en fase mundialista, clasificación a la segunda ronda jugando de igual a igual con la elite del fútbol mundial, fue considerada una de las selecciones revelación de esta última Copa del Mundo. Además, se construyeron estadios, la ANFP vale 4 veces más en su valor patrimonial, saneó el Canal del Fútbol, entre otras obras. Los jugadores se recotizaron… hoy los seleccionados juegan en las mejores ligas del mundo y lo que es más valioso aún, los jugadores con sacrificio, disciplina y trabajo sistemático podían jugar al ataque en todas las canchas, ahogando al rival, exigiéndole al máximo a sus rivales. El jugador chileno no tiene el virtuosismo de los brasileños o la mística de los argentinos o la historia del fútbol alemán, pero terminó creyéndose el cuento.</p> <p>El hincha se sintió interpretado. Logró una conexión única con “La Roja” y por otro lado, sin ser experto, se dio cuenta que la actual directiva estaba haciendo bien la tarea.</p> <p><a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2008/10/16/bielsista-boninista/" target="_blank">Marcelo Bielsa</a> dijo sabiamente, “el fútbol no se acaba sin mi”. Es cierto. La “Era Bielsa” o la “Era Mayne-Nicholls” en algún momento debía llegar a su fin. La fecha era el 2015 y eso es lo triste. Quedaban 5 años para cimentar las bases del nuevo fútbol chileno del siglo XXI. La mezquindad, la miseria humana, el egoísmo, la ambición, los peores valores de los seres humanos ganaron la elección del 04 de Noviembre. Es cierto, fue a través de una elección… no se trata de tener una postura de tiranía por la vida, pero claramente esta elección no tuvo como resultado el nivel que uno esperaba a los tiempos que estábamos viviendo.</p> <p>Navarro Montoya escribió en su Twitter una opinión que me parece notable. “<a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/10/13/bielsista-boninista-ii-parte/" target="_blank">Marcelo Bielsa</a> ha utilizado un valor en fuga en estos tiempos de pragmatismo, de valorar el fin por encima del como, ¿que valor ? La Lealtad”. Verlo jugar con la pasión y lucha que le daba a su juego, resultaba conmovedor.</p> <p>Zamorano nace en Santiago un 18 de Enero de 1967 y curiosamente nunca jugó en su primera etapa en Chile en alguno de los 3 clubes grandes (Colo – Colo, Universidad de Chile o Universidad Católica). Vistió las camisetas de Cobresal y Trasandino (actual Cobreandino) y dio el salto a Europa al FC. St. Gallen de Suiza.</p> <p>Es en esta liga de menor jerarquía donde se lo conoce como «Iván El Terrible» por sus 37 goles en dos temporadas. Vicente Cantatore entrenaba el Sevilla y es este club español que le abre las puertas a una liga de primer nivel. Zamorano, con garra y un cabezaso prodigioso, se eleva a tal punto que el siempre poderoso Real Madrid se hace de sus servicios.</p> <p>En el club «merengue» vive buenas y malas, pero imposible no recordar cuando Jorge Valdano lo relegó como el quinto extranjero del club y «Bam-Bam» Zamorano a fuerza de tesón y amor propio, le demostró en los entrenamientos y luego en cancha que su entrenador estaba profundamente equivocado.</p> <p>Esta «anécdota» refleja lo que fue siempre Zamorano como jugador, de menos a más, con una voluntad de fierro y logrando lo imposible.</p> <p>Su paso al Inter de Milán quizás no tuvo el brillo de antes, es más, tuvo que ceder la «9» por Ronaldo y pero se las ingenió siempre para estar presente, con su ya clásico 1+8 en la camiseta y sobretodo los 5 años que estuvo en el Inter, que es cosa de recordar la plantilla como se renovaba en aquellos años, la cual era prácticamente otra al momento de partir al América de México el 2001.</p> <p>De a poco se fue extinguiendo la luz de Zamorano, hasta que llegó el momento de regresar a casa… a su Colo – Colo amado. Fue corto el paso por el «Cacique», pero era una deuda que tenía consigo mismo, hasta que el 2003 baja el telón a 16 años brillantes de carrera.</p> <p>La Selección</p> <p>Un punto a parte merece su participación con el seleccionado de Chile. Además de transformarse en uno de los capitanes más significativos, marcó 34 goles (sólo superado por otro grande, <a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/02/10/el-matador-salas/" target="_blank">Marcelo Salas</a>) en 69 encuentros.</p> <p>Si bien obtiene algunos logros más que importantes con «La Roja» (Medalla de Bronce y Goleador con 6 tantos en los Juegos Olímpicos de Sydney 2000 o tres instancias de Semifinales en la Copa América del ´87, ´91 y ´99), las clasificatorias jugadas para la Copa del Mundo de Francia ´98 fueron sencillamente notables, es aquí donde nace la mítica <a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/02/17/los-za-sa-goleadores-de-piel-roja/" target="_blank">dupla Za-Sa</a> e Iván Zamorano resulta goleador, sin contar además que su class="entry"> <p>Chile es un país de más penas que de alegrías en el fútbol. <a title="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/02/14/los-once-elegidos-para-chile/" href="http://" target="_blank">En 1910 (ya casi 100 años) un grupo de jugadores cruzó la cordillera y la pampa Argentina para vestir por primera vez los colores de nuestra selección (blanca en aquellos años)</a> y comenzó un largo camino que nos tiene, todavía soñando con superar el 3er lugar del ´62, ganar un partido fuera de Chile en una Copa del Mundo después de casi 60 años (triunfo a EEUU en Brasil ´50) y para que decir a nivel de clubes. Salvo las 4 copas internacionales de Colo – Colo (1 Copa Libertadores, 1 Recopa y 1 Interamericana) y Universidad Católica (1 Interamericana), las vitrinas se ven vacías si nos comparamos con Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina y Brasil, por nombrar a nuestro vecinos.</p> <p>Somos junto a Venezuela y Ecuador, los únicos países que no hemos ganado una Copa América y las finales del ´79 y ´87, se ven demasiado lejanas.</p> <p>Mi blog es de historia del fútbol chileno e internacional y para mirar el presente y proyectar el futuro, prefiero que sean otros. Pero quiero hacer la excepción con la Roja de Bielsa. Pienso que Chile clasificará a Sudáfrica 2010 y no será un acompañante de grupo (sueño que nos toque con Italia, Inglaterra o Sudáfrica en primera fase) y estoy seguro que cambiaremos nuestra propia historia.</p> <p>Para el Mundial Sub-20 de Canadá 2008, por primera vez escuché decir a algunos jugadores… «vamos al Mundial a ser Campeones del Mundo» ¡¡¡¡y que cerca estuvieron!!!!. Esos jugadores, son parte de este equipo (titulares o reservas): Alexis Sánchez, Arturo Vidal, Carlos Carmona, Gary Medel, entre otros.</p> <p>El tenis chileno nos ha dado muestras que si se pueden ganar a las grandes potencias: Marcelo Ríos como nº 1, Chile bicampeón por equipos en Düsseldorf o Massú y González, triple medallistas Olímpicos. Esta generación ha crecido viendo estos ejemplos y ya se están empezando a declarar que quieren ganar la Copa del Mundo de 2010.</p> <p>Por mi parte y faltando un año para el Mundial, Chile dará que hablar, será una revelación y no será fácil ganarle. fanáticos. Quizás, no tanto por los resultados (que si uno compara con otros países es la nada), pero sí por toda su carga emotiva que tuvo. Chile venía de tener un papelón en España ´82 y para México ´86 e Italia ´90 quedó eliminado, para colmo, con el escándalo del Condorazo en 1989, «La Roja» quedó sancionada de participar de las Clasificatorias de Estados Unidos ´94.</p> <p>Producto del «Milagro Boliviano» que tuvo como autor intelectual a Javier Azkargorta, se pensó que era «el hombre» que podía devolver a Chile a una ansiada Copa del Mundo. El proceso nunca se afirmó y se pudrió todo con el famoso empate frente a Venezuela de visita con un agónico rodillazo de Javier Margas, gol que fue celebrado como si Chile ubiese clasificado.</p> <p>«Una vez muerto el perro, la rabia se acaba» con esa frase Azkargorta dio un paso al costado y Nelson Acosta tuvo que asumir la pesada mochila que era la selección en ese momento debutando frente a Ecuador en el Estadio Nacional en un diluvio. Además, es bueno recordar que en aquellos años el único gran referente era Iván Zamorano; Marcelo Salas todavía no partía a River Plate, Nelson Tapia no era el arquero sólido que llegó a ser y el resto del equipo aún estaba en una etapa de formación.</p> <p>El resto es historia y una bella historia que se escribió en Francia ´98. Con toda la locura de la «Marea Roja» (los hinchas), la forma como se jugó, los golazos de Salas y el famoso penal ante Italia, el empate maldito contra Austria, el gol maravilloso de José Luis Sierra a Camerún y la samba de Brasil que selló un dulce regreso.</p> <p>Son 5 capítulos. Perú por su parte venía firme y había consolidado su juego gracias a la acertada labor táctica de Juan Carlos Oblitas.</p> <p>El Estadio Nacional fue una caldera ese 12 de Octubre de 1997, Chile sacó sus banderas a la calle y en las calles se sentía la emoción de estar más cerca de una Copa del Mundo después del fracaso de<a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/01/01/chile-y-su-peor-mundial/" target="_blank"> España ´82</a> y el bochorno del <a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/01/11/el-dia-que-%E2%80%9Ccondor%E2%80%9D-hizo-ver-todo-rojo-a-chile/" target="_blank">Condorazo de 1989</a>. Cuanto el relato en primera persona, debido a que fui un afortunado al poder estar esa inolvidable noche en el Nacional, desde el momento que el equipo peruano salió a la cancha, el público local le hizo sentir que ese día serían más visitantes que nunca, la forma y mentalización de la «Roja» al momento de escuchar el himno patrio fue sencillamente emocionante… esa noche, Chile tenía que ganar.</p> <p>Y así fue, Marcelo Salas jugó brillantemente y Rodrigo Barrera junto a José Luis Sierra fueron alimentadores constantes para el juego de Salas. Injusto no mencionar a Margas o Pedro Reyes… Clarence Acuña o Nelson Tapia. Ese día 11 leones rojos salieron a jugar por la gloria. Inolvidable serán los 2 tiros en el palo de Flavio Maestri, cuando el resultado era incierto aun… la historia podrá haber sido otra.</p> <p>Los invito a ver el excelente vídeo producido por Pasión por la Roja, en el cual se puede apreciar el 4-0 que logró Chile y limpió el camino a Francia ´98.
