The north has a subtropical climate with distinct seasons. The winters from November to April are cool and dry, while the summer months are hot and humid. Depending on the time of year and altitude, the maximum daily temperatures are between 20 and 30 °C. In the central part, the climate varies from tropical rainforests in the west to drier areas in the east. The rainy season here extends from September to December. The south already has a tropical climate with high temperatures of up to 35°C and high humidity. Here, the rainy season lasts from May to November and the dry season from December to April.
