world's leading trade fair for building materials, which takes place in Munich from 13 to 17 January 2025, ArcelorMittal will be presenting its product range for the entire construction industry, resource-saving examples and steel solutions with a significantly reduced carbon footprint.</strong></p> <h3>Example of reduced carbon industrial construction</h3> <p>A prime example is the <a href="https://construction.arcelormittal.com/en/newsroom/low-carbon-steel-powers-sustainable-construction" target="_blank">SEGRO Park Frechen</a> in Germany, which sets standards for sustainable construction and modern industrial design. The use of 275 tonnes of <a href="https://europe.arcelormittal.com/sustainability/xcarb/RRP/recycled_and_renewably_produced" target="_blank">XCarb<sup>®</sup> recycled and renewably produced steel</a>, which is produced from recycled material, using 100% renewable electricity in an electric arc furnace, saves around 542,000 kg of CO<sub>2</sub>. Compared with conventional production in a blast furnace, which generates 2.2 to 2.8 tonnes of CO<sub>2 </sub>per tonne of steel, XCarb<sup>®</sup> recycled and renewably produced process results in CO2 emissions that are 74% lower CO<sub>2 </sub>per tonne of steel, for the SEGRO Park project. At BAU, trade visitors can learn details about the technologies from ArcelorMittal experts and discuss the potential of steel to increase sustainability and circularity in their future projects.</p><img src="/repo/Events-Press-Links/Segro-park-frechen.png" title="SEGRO Park Frechen - Germany" /><br /> <p style="text-align: center;"><em>SEGRO Park Frechen in Germany</em></p> <h3>Innovative steel beams save CO2 and costs</h3> <p><a href="/newsandmedia/europenews/xcarb-green-teuto-systemtechnik" target="_blank">Green Teuto Systemtechnik (GTS)</a> – a Krone Group company and manufacturer of agricultural machinery and commercial vehicles – used 1,400 tonnes of steel beams manufactured with XCarb<sup>®</sup> recycled and renewably produced, to build a production site in Ibbenbüren.<br /> In addition, ACB<sup>®</sup> and Angelina<sup>®</sup> beams with their circular and  sinusoidal large web openings, will be presented at BAU, which enable material and cost savings through their design. Arcorox<sup>®</sup> weathering steel requires no additional coating, which reduces maintenance costs.</p> <h3>Focus on material durability</h3> <p>In addition to the carbon footprint, the durability and resistance of materials play a major role in sustainable construction. ArcelorMittal’s <a href="https://industry.arcelormittal.com/magnelis" target="_blank">Magnelis<sup>®</sup></a>, the metallic coated steel, offers very high corrosion protection and can be used cost-effectively for façade substructures and solar structures. In regions with special climate conditions, such as coastal areas, <a href="https://industry.arcelormittal.com/products-solutions/Products_in_the_spotlight/granite" target="_blank">Granite<sup>®</sup> HDXtreme</a> - with a lifespan of up to 40 years - comes into its own. Both products are available in XCarb<sup>®</sup> steel, with a significantly reduced carbon footprint which is verified by an environmental product declaration (EPD). Whether for façades, roofs or supporting structures, steel enables more environmentally sustainable and efficient construction today. </p> <h3>Helioroof<sup>®</sup> – new solar roof solution</h3> <div class="imagetext" style="width:100%; float: left;"> <div class="imageText" style="max-width:100%; float: left;"><img border="0" src="/repo/Events-Press-Links/Helioroof-at-bau.jpg" title="Helioroof" width="250" /> </div> <div class="text"> <p><span>Steel is playing a crucial role in the energy transition, for example in the production of wind turbines or solar parks. </span><a href="https://constructalia.arcelormittal.com/en/news_center/2024/07/helioroof-wins-the-smarter-e-award-2024" target="_blank">Helioroof<sup>®</sup></a><span> - which has been awarded with the “Smarter E AWARD 2024” - is an innovative solar roof solution from ArcelorMittal for pitched roofs that considerably simplifies and accelerates the construction of thermally insulated solar roofs thanks to its light weight, easy assembly and electrical installation using a plug-in system. The integrated high-performance roof panel with the latest generation of silicon solar cells offers an output of 2 kWp at 50% less weight than traditional solar roofs. Quick installation and flexible panel lengths make Helioroof</span><sup>®</sup><span> particularly interesting for both commercial and private projects, especially in renovation.</span></p> </div> </div> <br /> <h3>Study on steel sheet pile walls: advantageous alternative to concrete</h3> <p>Steel sheet pile walls are used in major infrastructure projects. They offer smart and sustainable steel solutions for underground infrastructure. Construction with steel sheet pile walls can be up to 24% cheaper. It also significantly reduces CO<sub>2</sub> emissions with the <a href="https://sheetpiling.arcelormittal.com/sustainability/ecosheetpile-plus" target="_blank">EcoSheetPile™ Plus</a> product,ec which is manufactured with 100% renewable energy and 100% scrap steel. A life cycle analysis confirms that temporary steel sheet pile walls, which are reused multiple times, have the lowest environmental impact.</p> <h3>Sandwich panels as part of a circular economy for façade elements</h3> <p><a href="https://constructalia.arcelormittal.com/en/products/ondatherm" target="_blank">Ondatherm<sup>®</sup> sandwich panels</a> are highly efficient façade components that combine all the essential features of sustainable construction: lightness, very good thermal insulation and high load-bearing capacity and mechanical resistance. This is achieved by bonding thin steel skins to the rigid, insulating core material, creating a kind of composite material. ArcelorMittal will enable full recycling of its Ondatherm<sup>®</sup> sandwich panels by separating the elements that are no longer needed in an industrial process, so that each material can be recycled. The steel will be recycled using the established scrap recycling process, and the PIR core material will be processed into new chemical raw materials using chemical processes. Some of this material can be reused to produce PIR foam and thus also for the production of sandwich panels – and in the case of Ondatherm<sup>®</sup>, it will also be used in the future version.</p> <h3>Ondatherm<sup>®</sup> Hybrid Green – greening sandwich panel façades made easy</h3> <p>The greening of façades is a growing trend, particularly for large logistics or commercial properties, and one that brings a variety of sustainability benefits. Vegetation strengthens biodiversity and ecology and improves the microclimate through additional evaporation. However, planning and implementation with the steel sandwich panels typically used in this segment is complex. With the Ondatherm<sup>®</sup> sandwich panels and the additional hybrid rail with Magnelis<sup>®</sup> coating, ArcelorMittal now offers a very simple and attractive solution for attaching climbing
