The current energy and climate change impacts of the residential building sector in Australia are significant. Thus, the Australian Government has introduced more stringent regulations to improve building energy efficiency. In 2006, the Australian residential building sector consumed about 11% (around 440 Petajoule) of the total primary energy, resulting in total greenhouse gas emissions of 9.65 million tonnes CO2-eq. The gas and electricity consumption of residential dwellings contributed to 30% and 52% respectively, of the total primary energy utilised by this sector. Around 40 percent of total energy consumption of Australian buildings goes to heating and cooling due to the low thermal performance of the buildings. Thermal performance of buildings determines the amount of energy used for heating and cooling of the buildings which profoundly influences energy efficiency. Employing sustainable design principles and effective use of construction materials can play a crucial role in improving thermal performance of new and existing buildings. Even though awareness has been raised, the design phase of refurbishment projects is often problematic. One of the issues concerning the refurbishment of residential buildings is mostly the consumer market, where most work consists of moderate refurbishment jobs, often without assistance of an architect and partly without a building permit. There is an individual and often fragmental approach that results in lack of efficiency. Most importantly, the decisions taken in the early stages of the design determine the final result; however, the assessment of the environmental performance only happens at the end of the design process, as a reflection of the design outcome. Finally, studies have identified the lack of knowledge, experience and best-practice examples as barriers in refurbishment projects. In the context of sustainable development and the need to reduce energy demand, refurbishing the ageing residential building constitutes a necessary action. Not only it does provide huge potential for energy savings, but it is also economically and socially relevant. Although the advantages have been identified, the guidelines come in the form of general suggestions that fail to address the diversity of each project. As a result, it has been recognised that there is a strong need to develop guidelines for optimised retrofitting of existing residential buildings in order to improve their energy performance. The current study investigates the effectiveness of different energy retrofitting techniques and examines the impact of employing those methods on energy consumption of residential brick veneer buildings in Victoria (Australia). Proposing different remedial solutions for improving the energy performance of residential brick veneer buildings, in the simulation stage, annual energy usage analyses have been carried out to determine heating and cooling energy consumptions of the buildings for different proposed retrofitting techniques. Then, the results of employing different retrofitting methods have been examined and compared in order to identify the most efficient and cost-effective remedial solution for improving the energy performance of those buildings with respect to the climate condition in Victoria and construction materials of the studied benchmark building. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brick%20veneer%20residential%20buildings" title="brick veneer residential buildings">brick veneer residential buildings</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20energy%20efficiency" title=" building energy efficiency"> building energy efficiency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate%20change%20impacts" title=" climate change impacts"> climate change impacts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cost%20effective%20remedial%20solution" title=" cost effective remedial solution"> cost effective remedial solution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20performance" title=" energy performance"> energy performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainable%20design%20principles" title=" sustainable design principles"> sustainable design principles</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47334/refurbishment-methods-to-enhance-energy-efficiency-of-brick-veneer-residential-buildings-in-victoria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47334.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">291</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1458</span> Windphil Poetic in Architecture: Energy Efficient Strategies in Modern Buildings of Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sepideh%20Samadzadehyazdi">Sepideh Samadzadehyazdi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Khalili"> Mohammad Javad Khalili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sarvenaz%20Samadzadehyazdi"> Sarvenaz Samadzadehyazdi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Mahdavinejad"> Mohammad Javad Mahdavinejad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The term ‘Windphil Architecture’ refers to the building that facilitates natural ventilation by architectural elements. Natural ventilation uses the natural forces of wind pressure and stacks effect to direct the movement of air through buildings. Natural ventilation is increasingly being used in contemporary buildings to minimize the consumption of non-renewable energy and it is an effective way to improve indoor air quality. The main objective of this paper is to identify the strategies of using natural ventilation in Iranian modern buildings. In this regard, the research method is ‘descriptive-analytical’ that is based on comparative techniques. To simulate wind flow in the interior spaces of case studies, FLUENT software has been used. Research achievements show that it is possible to use natural ventilation to create a thermally comfortable indoor environment. The natural ventilation strategies could be classified into two groups of environmental characteristics such as public space structure, and architectural characteristics including building form and orientation, openings, central courtyards, wind catchers, roof, wall wings, semi-open spaces and the heat capacity of materials. Having investigated modern buildings of Iran, innovative elements like wind catchers and wall wings are less used than the traditional architecture. Instead, passive ventilation strategies have been more considered in the building design as for the roof structure and openings. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20ventilation%20strategies" title="natural ventilation strategies">natural ventilation strategies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20catchers" title=" wind catchers"> wind catchers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20flow" title=" wind flow"> wind flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iranian%20modern%20buildings" title=" Iranian modern buildings"> Iranian modern buildings</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/80724/windphil-poetic-in-architecture-energy-efficient-strategies-in-modern-buildings-of-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/80724.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">346</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1457</span> Influence of Biological and Chemical Fertilizers on Quantitative Characteristics of Sweet Wormwood</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anahita%20Yarahmadi">Anahita Yarahmadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nazanin%20Mahboobi"> Nazanin Mahboobi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nahid%20Sadat%20Rahmatpour%20Nori"> Nahid Sadat Rahmatpour Nori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Hossein%20Bijeh%20Keshavarzi"> Mohammad Hossein Bijeh Keshavarzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Shakori"> Mohammad Javad Shakori</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research aimed at considering biological fertilizer effect and chemical fertilizer on the quantitative characteristics of Sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua L.), an experiment was carried out in factorial design in completely randomized design with 4 replications in an experimental greenhouse which was located in Tehran. This region is located in the middle of Iran zone. Ali Javad Porphyry copper-gold ore deposit has been created in a magmatic complex containing intrusive masses, combining Granodiorite and quartz Monzonite that penetrates into the Eocene volcanic aggregate. The most important mineralization includes primary oxides minerals (magnetite), sulfide (pyrite, chalcopyrite, Molybdenite, Bornite, Chalcocite, Covollite), secondary oxide or hydroxide minerals (hematite, goethite, limonite), and carbonate (malachite and Azurite). The mineralization forms into the vein-veinlets and scattered system. The alterations observed in the region include intermediate Argillic, advanced Argillic, Phyllic, silica, Propylitic, chlorite and Potassic. The 3D model of mineralization of the Alijavad is provided by Data DATAMINE software and based on the study of 700 polished sections of 32 drilled boreholes in the region. This model is completely compatible with the model provided by Lowell and Gilbert for the mineralization of porphyry copper deposits of quartz Monzonite type. The estimated cumulative residual value of copper for Ali Javad deposit is 81.5 million tons with 0.75 percent of copper, and for gold is 8.37 million tons with 1.8 ppm. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=porphyry%20copper" title="porphyry copper">porphyry copper</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mineralization" title=" mineralization"> mineralization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Javad" title=" Ali Javad"> Ali Javad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modeling" title=" modeling"> modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reserve%20estimation" title=" reserve estimation"> reserve estimation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83584/modeling-and-estimating-reserve-of-the-ali-javad-porphyry-copper-gold-deposit-east-azerbaijan-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83584.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">220</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1455</span> The Effect of Measurement Distribution on System Identification and Detection of Behavior of Nonlinearities of Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Mollakazemi">Mohammad Javad Mollakazemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farhad%20Asadi"> Farhad Asadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aref%20Ghafouri"> Aref Ghafouri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we considered and applied parametric modeling for some experimental data of dynamical system. While in the past, the sides of urban rivers were considered as urban green space. Urban rivers and their sides that have environmental, social and economic values are important to achieve sustainable development. So far, efforts have been made at various scales in various cities around the world to revitalize these areas. On the other hand, biophilic design is an innovative design approach in which attention to natural details and relation to nature is a fundamental concept. The purpose of this study is to provide an integrated framework of urban design using the potential of urban rivers (in order to increase sustainability) with a biophilic design approach to be used in cities in developing countries. The methodology of the research is based on the collection of data and information from research and projects including a study on biophilic design, investigations and projects related to the urban rivers, and a review of the literature on sustainable urban development. Then studying the boundary of urban rivers is completed by examining case samples. Eventually, integrated framework of urban design, to design the boundaries of urban rivers in the cities of developing countries is presented regarding the factors affecting the design of these areas. The result shows that according to this framework, the potential of the river banks is utilized to increase not only the environmental sustainability but also social, economic and physical stability with regard to water, light, and the usage of indigenous materials, etc. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20rivers" title="urban rivers">urban rivers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biophilic%20design" title=" biophilic design"> biophilic design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20sustainability" title=" urban sustainability"> urban sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nature" title=" nature"> nature</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79261/increasing-sustainability-using-the-potential-of-urban-rivers-in-developing-countries-with-a-biophilic-design-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79261.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">288</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1450</span> The English Translation of Arabic Metaphors in the Holy Qura’n</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Hamzah%20Alshehab">Mohammad Hamzah Alshehab</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Metaphor is a substitute expression in everyday life in languages, thoughts and actions. The circuit benefits from a controllable resistive load shunt with transmission line segments to optimize return loss variations, addressing the unbalanced capacitive nature of the varactor. The phase shifter reduces the complexity of the calibration process because the dependency of insertion loss on voltage controls is improved up to 3 dB. The TTD phase shifter provides a continuous changing delay time of 6.4 ps with low insertion loss (IL) in the 10-35 GHz frequency range. The proposed circuit benefits from lowloss phase shifters with a small footprint. Fabricated using a 65 nm CMOC process, the TTD phase shifter occupies only 388 × 615 µm 2 of chip area, achieving a 20% improvements compared to conventional TTD phase shifters. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=millimeter-wave%20phased-array" title="millimeter-wave phased-array">millimeter-wave phased-array</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=true%20time%20delay%20phase%20shifter" title=" true time delay phase shifter"> true time delay phase shifter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=insertion%20loss%20variation" title=" insertion loss variation"> insertion loss variation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compact%20size" title=" compact size"> compact size</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/193319/a-low-insertion-loss-variation-10-35-ghz-phase-shifter" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/193319.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">7</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1446</span> Optimal Closed-loop Input Shaping Control Scheme for a 3D Gantry Crane</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Maghsoudi">Mohammad Javad Maghsoudi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Z.%20Mohamed"> Z. Therefore, improving the technology of wind turbines to take different advantages of this enormous potential in the power grid, could be interesting subject for scientists. The doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbine is a popular system due to its many advantages such as the improved power quality, high energy efficiency and controllability, etc. With an increase in wind power penetration in the network and with regard to the flexible control of wind turbines, the use of wind turbine systems to improve the dynamic stability of power systems has been of significance importance for researchers. Subsynchronous oscillations are one of the important issues in the stability of power systems. Damping subsynchronous oscillations by using wind turbines has been studied in various research efforts, mainly by adding an auxiliary control loop to the control structure of the wind turbine. In most of the studies, this control loop is composed of linear blocks. In this paper, simple adaptive control is used for this purpose. In order to use an adaptive controller, the convergence of the controller should be verified. Since adaptive control parameters tend to optimum values in order to obtain optimum control performance, using this controller will help the wind turbines to have positive contribution in damping the network subsynchronous oscillations at different wind speeds and system operating points. In this paper, the application of simple adaptive control in DFIG wind turbine systems to improve the dynamic stability of power systems is studied and the essential condition for using this controller is considered. It is also shown that this controller has an insignificant effect on the dynamic stability of the wind turbine, itself. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=almost%20strictly%20positive%20real%20%28ASPR%29" title="almost strictly positive real (ASPR)">almost strictly positive real (ASPR)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=doubly-fed%20induction%20generator%20%28DIFG%29" title=" doubly-fed induction generator (DIFG)"> doubly-fed induction generator (DIFG)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simple%20adaptive%20control%20%28SAC%29" title=" simple adaptive control (SAC)"> simple adaptive control (SAC)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=subsynchronous%20oscillations" title=" subsynchronous oscillations"> subsynchronous oscillations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20turbine" title=" wind turbine"> wind turbine</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51014/necessary-condition-to-utilize-adaptive-control-in-wind-turbine-systems-to-improve-power-system-stability" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51014.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">376</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1443</span> Cellulose Nanocrystals Suspensions as Water-Based Lubricants for Slurry Pump Gland Seals</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Shariatzadeh">Mohammad Javad Shariatzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dana%20Grecov"> Dana Grecov</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The tribological tests were performed on a new tribometer, in order to measure the coefficient of friction of a gland seal packing material on stainless steel shafts in presence of Cellulose Nanocrystal (CNC) suspension as a sustainable, environmentally friendly, water-based lubricant. Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale is a bacterium that causes respiratory infections including alveolar inflation and pneumonia in birds. The aim of this study was to evaluated antibody titer against Ornitobacterium rhinotracheal in layer chicken sera after vaccination with an experimental ORT vaccine that produced in Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute. Cultured bacteria were inactivated by formalin, and controlled tests were conducted on it. The obtained antigens were formulated using Montanide oil and were homogenized using homogenizer. Eighty SPF chickens were kept until the age of 14 days under existing standards for temperature, humidity, and light. At the age of 14 days, chickens were divided into 3 groups. The first group included 50 chickens injected with prepared ORT vaccine, the second group, as control group, included 15 chickens injected with sterile PBS to get stress of infection and the third group included 15 chickens with no injection performed to them. All 3 groups were kept in separate cages at same room. Blood samples were regularly taken from the chickens every week for serum separation and evaluation of antibody titer. During the fifth week post vaccination, booster vaccine was injected into the chickens of vaccinated group. The chickens were inspected every day in terms of mortality as well as any injection site reactions. Three weeks after the booster injection, blood samples were taken from all chickens of all groups, and sera were isolated. The sera of immunized (vaccinated) SPF chickens with ORT vaccine as well as that of SPF chickens in the control groups were reviewed according to the recommendations of ELISA kit manufacturer to examine the chicken’s humeral immune response to the studied vaccine. Potency, stability and sterility tests were also performed on the above mentioned vaccine. Results obtained indicate high antibody titer in sera of chickens vaccinated with experimental ORT vaccine as compared with the control groups that emphasize the ability of experimentally prepared ORT vaccine to stimulate humoral immune response of chicken. After the second injection, antibody titer increased and remained almost stable up to 9 weeks after the injection. ORT vaccine can cause potency in chickens and can protect them against disease. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antibody" title="antibody">antibody</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=layer%20chicken" title=" layer chicken"> layer chicken</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ornithobactrium%20rhinotracitis" title=" Ornithobactrium rhinotracitis"> Ornithobactrium rhinotracitis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vaccine" title=" vaccine"> vaccine</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75131/evaluation-of-antibody-titer-produced-in-layer-chicken-after-vaccination-with-an-experimental-ornitobacterium-rhinotracheal-vaccine" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75131.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">416</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1439</span> The Predictive Value of Extensor Grip Test for the Effectiveness of Treatment for Tennis Elbow: A Randomized Controlled Trial</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Zehtab">Mohammad Javad Zehtab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Alireza%20Mirghasemi"> S. We designed a study to compare the effectiveness of five different modalities and determine the usefulness of recently proposed extensor grip test (EGT) in predicting the response to treatment. Methods: In a randomized controlled clinical trial 92 of 98 tennis elbow patients in Sina hospital of Tehran, Iran between 2006 and 2007 fulfill trial entry criteria, among these patients 56 (60.9%) had positive EGT result. Stratified on EGT result, patients allocated randomly to 5 treatment groups: Brace (B) group, physiotherapy (P), brace + physiotherapy (BP), injection (I) and injection + physiotherapy (IP). Results: Patients who had positive result of EGT had better response to treatments: less SOC (p = 0.06), less PFFQ and patients’ satisfaction scores (p < 0.001). Among the treatment IP was the most successful, then BP, P and B, respectively; injection was the worst treatment modality. Response to treatment was comparable in all groups between EGT positive and negative patients except bracing; in which positive EGT was correlated with a dramatic response to treatment. Conclusion: In all patients IP and then BP is recommended but in EGT negatives, bracing seems to be of no use. Injection alone is not recommended in either group. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tennis%20elbow" title="tennis elbow">tennis elbow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extensor%20grip%20test" title=" extensor grip test"> extensor grip test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiotherapy" title=" physiotherapy"> physiotherapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tennis%20elbow%20treatment" title=" tennis elbow treatment"> tennis elbow treatment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34774/the-predictive-value-of-extensor-grip-test-for-the-effectiveness-of-treatment-for-tennis-elbow-a-randomized-controlled-trial" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34774.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">284</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1438</span> Pain Control by Ketamine in Combat Situation; Consideration and Outcomes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Behzadnia">Mohammad Javad Behzadnia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamidreza%20Javadzadeh"> Hamidreza Javadzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Pain management is essential to surmounting multi-injured people in an overcrowded emergency setting. Its role would be more apparent when the physician encounters a mass casualty in a war zone or even a military prehospital. Having sedative and analgesic properties, rapid onset and offset effects, and maintaining the cardiovascular and respiratory contain are the main reason for selecting Ketamine as a good choice in the war zone. Methods: In a prospective interventional study in a war zone, we have selected and followed two groups of casualties for pain management. All were men with an average age of 26.6±8 y/o and 27.5 ±7 y/o in A and B groups, respectively. Group A received only Ketamine and Group B received Ketamine and diazepam. Results: This study showed that all of the injured patients who received Ketamine had experienced some agitation, and they may finally need benzodiazepines for sedation, but in group B that received benzodiazepine before or simultaneous with Ketamine, the agitation was significantly reduced. (P Value ≤0.05) Conclusion: Various factors may affect pain score and perception; patients' culture, mental health, previous drug usage, and addiction could alter the pain score in similar situations. It seems that the significant agitation is due to catecholamine release in stressful Moments of the battlefield. Accordingly, this situation could be exacerbated due to ketamine properties. Nonetheless, as a good choice in the war zone, Ketamine is now recommended to combine with benzodiazepines for procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=battlefield" title="battlefield">battlefield</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ketamine" title=" ketamine"> ketamine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=benzodiazepine" title=" benzodiazepine"> benzodiazepine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pain%20control" title=" pain control"> pain control</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163166/pain-control-by-ketamine-in-combat-situation-consideration-and-outcomes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163166.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">102</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1437</span> The Effect of Different Concentrations of Trichoderma harzianum Fungus on the Phytochemical and Antioxidative Parameters of Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea convar.botrytisl) in Soils Contaminated with Lead</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Shakori">Mohammad Javad Shakori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Esmaeil%20Babakhanzadeh%20Sajirani"> Esmaeil Babakhanzadeh Sajirani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vajihe%20Esmaili"> Vajihe Esmaili</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Today, the increasing contamination is an environmental concern. There is relationship between plants and microorganisms many years ago. In this regard, an experiment was conducted in order to investigate the effect of different levels of lead across three levels ‘zero, 50, and 100 mg/L’ and Trichoderma Harzanium fungus across three levels ‘5, 10, and 15%’ in a factorial design in the form of fully randomized blocks in three replications under form conditions in the climatic conditions of Shahroud in Dehlama Village. This research was performed in 2014-2015 on cauliflower. In this experiment, chlorophyll a, b, total, cartenoid, phenol, flavonoid, and antioxidant properties of cauliflowers were measured. The results indicated that the greatest level of chlorophyll a (75.723 mg/wet weight), chlorophyll b (27.378 mg/wet weight), and total chlorophyll (109.074 mg/wet weight) was related to the interactive effects of 5% treatment of Trichoderma fungus and 0mg/L lead. The results also indicated that the greatest amount of antioxidant (79.88% of free radical) and flavonoides (22.889 mg of coercetin/g of dry weight) was related to the interactive effects of lead 50 mg/L and the treatment of Trichoderma fungus 5%. Further, the greatest level of phenol (21.33 mg of Gaelic acid/ dry weight) was related to the interactive effects of lead 100 mg/L and Trichoderma fungus 5% . The design of the supply chain network is one of the most important supply chain management decisions. These decisions will have a long-term impact on the efficacy and efficiency of the supply chain. In this paper, a two-objective mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model is developed for designing and optimizing a closed-loop green supply chain network that, to the greatest extent possible, includes all real-world assumptions such as multi-level supply chain, the multiplicity of production technologies, and multiple modes of transportation, with the goals of minimizing the total cost of the chain (first objective) and minimizing total emissions of emissions (second objective). The ε-constraint and CPLEX Solver have been used to solve the problem as a single-objective problem and validate the problem. Finally, the sensitivity analysis is applied to study the effect of the real-world parameters’ changes on the objective function. The optimal management suggestions and policies are presented. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=closed-loop%20supply%20chain" title="closed-loop supply chain">closed-loop supply chain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-level%20green%20supply%20chain" title=" multi-level green supply chain"> multi-level green supply chain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixed-integer%20programming" title=" mixed-integer programming"> mixed-integer programming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transportation%20modes" title=" transportation modes"> transportation modes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/169009/green-closed-loop-supply-chain-network-design-considering-different-production-technologies-levels-and-transportation-modes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/169009.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">78</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1435</span> Evaluation of Phonophoresis with Dexamethasone in Treatment of Hypertrophic Burn Scar</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Pishgahi">Alireza Pishgahi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Rahbar"> Mohammad Rahbar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javad%20Shokri"> Javad Shokri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahla%20Dareshiri"> Shahla Dareshiri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yaghoub%20Salekzamani"> Yaghoub Salekzamani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fariba%20Eslamian"> Fariba Eslamian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background and Objectives: Hypertrophic scars are one of the complications following a burn injury. Intralesional corticosteroid injection is an invasive method for treatment of this complication. We had design a single blinded randomized control trial to deliver dexamethasone by phonophoresis and evaluate its efficacy on hypertrophic burn scars characteristics. Material and Methods: 56 cases of hypertrophic burn scar due to burn injury allocated randomly to dexamethasone and control group. Individuals in case group received 10 sessions of dexamethasone 0.4% phonophoresis. Patients in control group had placebo phonophoresis (ultrasound with normal routine aquatic gel without any dexamethasone) with the same protocol. At the beginning of study and one week after last session, hypertrophic scar characteristics and pruritus were measured by ‘Vancouver Scar Scale’, and ‘5-D Pruritus Scale’ respectively in both groups. Results: Despite mild improvement in Vancouver Scar Scale score one week after intervention in dexamethasone phonophoresis group in comparison to control subjects, but this difference was not significant (p=0.08). Pruritus score perceived subjectively were significantly lower one week after intervention in dexamethasone groups in comparison to control subjects (p=0.00). Conclusion: Dexamethasone phonophoresis is a safe and effective treatment method for burn hypertrophic scar pruritus, but its efficacy for scar characteristics improvement needs to be evaluated by larger studies with long-term follow-up period. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dexamethasone" title="dexamethasone">dexamethasone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hypertrophic%20scar" title=" hypertrophic scar"> hypertrophic scar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phonophoresis" title=" phonophoresis"> phonophoresis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pruritus" title=" pruritus"> pruritus</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74723/evaluation-of-phonophoresis-with-dexamethasone-in-treatment-of-hypertrophic-burn-scar" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74723.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">173</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1434</span> Refinery Sulfur as an Alternative Agent to Decrease Pesticide Exposure in Pistachio Orchards and Common Pistachio Psylla’s Control</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehdi%20Basirat">Mehdi Basirat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Rouhani"> Mohammad Rouhani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahla%20Borzouei"> Shahla Borzouei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Majid%20Zarangi"> Majid Zarangi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asma%20Abolghasemi"> Asma Abolghasemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Fazel%20Soltani"> Mohammad Fazel Soltani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Gorji"> Mohammad Gorji</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Amin%20Samih"> Mohammad Amin Samih</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The common pistachio psylla, Agonoscena pistaciae Burckhardt and Lauterer (Hemiptera: Aphalaridae), as one of the most detrimental pests in all pistachio producing regions, causes great economic damages to pistachio trees. Nowadays, various pesticides are used to control the common pistachio psylla and robust pesticide exposure has occurred in orchards. In this study, field experiments were conducted during 2018–2021 to assess the effects of sulfur on A. pistaciae. This study compared sulfur with asafoetida extract and pesticide (acetamiprid) on A. pistaciae based on complete randomized blocks with three replications. The analysis results of variance showed that the effect of treatments on egg (F2,24 = 17.61, P = 0.00) and nymphs (F2,24 = 18.29, P = 0.00) had a significant difference at a 1% level. The results demonstrated that sulfur had the highest measure of control on eggs and nymphs significantly compared to the plant extract and pesticide (negative control). These results provide support to the potential use of sulfur as an alternative pest management tool against A. pistaciae. The results clearly indicated that sulfur could control the common pistachio psylla population for six weeks at least. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agonoscena%20pistaciae" title="Agonoscena pistaciae">Agonoscena pistaciae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pesticide%20exposure" title=" pesticide exposure"> pesticide exposure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pistachio" title=" pistachio"> pistachio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sulfur" title=" sulfur"> sulfur</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148558/refinery-sulfur-as-an-alternative-agent-to-decrease-pesticide-exposure-in-pistachio-orchards-and-common-pistachio-psyllas-control" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148558.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">165</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1433</span> Nanoparticle Emission Characteristics during Methane Pyrolysis in a Laminar Premixed Flame</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Javad%20Afroughi">Mohammad Javad Afroughi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farjad%20Falahati"> Farjad Falahati</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Larry%20W.%20Kostiuk"> Larry W. An inverted burner is designed to provide a laminar premixed propane-air flame (35 SLPM) then introduce methane co-flow to be pyrolyzed within a closed cylindrical chamber (20 cm in diameter and 68 cm in length). The formed products are discharged through an exhaust with a sampling branch to measure emission characteristics. Carbon particles are sampled with a preheated nitrogen dilution system, and the size distribution of particles formed by pyrolysis is measured by a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS). Dilution ratio is calculated using simultaneously measured CO2 concentrations in the exhaust products and diluted samples. Results show that particle size distribution (PSD) is strongly affected by dilution ratio and preheating temperature. PSD becomes unstable at high dilution ratios (typically above 700 times) and/or low preheating temperatures (below 40° C). At a suitable dilution ratio of 55 and preheating temperature up to 70° C, the median diameter of PSD increases from 20 to 220 nm following the introduction of 0.5 SLPM of methane to the propane-air premixed flame. Furthermore, with pyrolysis of methane, total particle number concentration and estimated total mass concentration of particles in the size range of 14 to 700 nm, increase from 1.12 to 3.90 *107 cm-3 and from 0.11 to 154 µg L-1, respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laminar%20premixed%20flame" title="laminar premixed flame">laminar premixed flame</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=methane%20pyrolysis" title=" methane pyrolysis"> methane pyrolysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoparticle%20physical%20characteristics" title=" nanoparticle physical characteristics"> nanoparticle physical characteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20mass%20concentration" title=" particle mass concentration"> particle mass concentration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20number%20concentration" title=" particle number concentration"> particle number concentration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20size%20distribution%20%28PSD%29" title=" particle size distribution (PSD)"> particle size distribution (PSD)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77141/nanoparticle-emission-characteristics-during-methane-pyrolysis-in-a-laminar-premixed-flame" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77141.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">238</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1432</span> Application of Simulation of Discrete Events in Resource Management of Massive Concreting</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Amin%20Hamedirad">Mohammad Amin Hamedirad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Javad%20Vaziri%20Kang%20Olyaei"> Seyed Javad Vaziri Kang Olyaei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Project planning and control are one of the most critical issues in the management of construction projects. Traditional methods of project planning and control, such as the critical path method or Gantt chart, are not widely used for planning projects with discrete and repetitive activities, and one of the problems of project managers is planning the implementation process and optimal allocation of its resources. Massive concreting projects is also a project with discrete and repetitive activities. This study uses the concept of simulating discrete events to manage resources, which includes finding the optimal number of resources considering various limitations such as limitations of machinery, equipment, human resources and even technical, time and implementation limitations using analysis of resource consumption rate, project completion time and critical points analysis of the implementation process. For this purpose, the concept of discrete-event simulation has been used to model different stages of implementation. After reviewing the various scenarios, the optimal number of allocations for each resource is finally determined to reach the maximum utilization rate and also to reduce the project completion time or reduce its cost according to the existing constraints. The results showed that with the optimal allocation of resources, the project completion time could be reduced by 90%, and the resulting costs can be reduced by up to 49%. Thus, allocating the optimal number of project resources using this method will reduce its time and cost. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulation" title="simulation">simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=massive%20concreting" title=" massive concreting"> massive concreting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=discrete%20event%20simulation" title=" discrete event simulation"> discrete event simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resource%20management" title=" resource management"> resource management</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128237/application-of-simulation-of-discrete-events-in-resource-management-of-massive-concreting" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128237.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">148</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1431</span> Risk Based on Computer Auditing and Measures of Prevention</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Hadi%20Khorashadi%20Zadeh">Mohammad Hadi Khorashadi Zadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amin%20Karkon"> Amin Karkon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyd%20Mohammad%20Reza%20Mashhoori"> Seyd Mohammad Reza Mashhoori</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The technology of computer audit played a major role in the progress and prospects of a proper application to improve the quality and efficiency of audit work.
