The mammals recovered to date comprise a new eleutherodontid haramiyid, the docodonts Dsungarodon and Tegotherium, an undetermined amphilestid triconodont, and a new species of the stem zatherian Nanolestes and represent the most diverse Late Jurassic mammal assemblage of Asia. The Liuhuanggou mammal assemblage is dominated by docodonts. Acuodulodon Hu et al., 2007 from the upper part of the Shishugou Formation (Oxfordian) of the Wucaiwan area in the central Junggar Basin is a junior synonym of Dsungarodon Pfretzschner and Martin, 2005. Tegotherium has been reported from the Late Jurassic Shar Teeg locality in Mongolia. With the exception of the common occurrence of Nanolestes, the mammalian assemblage from the Late Jurassic of the Guimarota coal mine (Portugal) is quite different from that of the Late Jurassic Qigu Formation. The Guimarota assemblage is dominated by five genera of dryolestidans and several genera of multituberculates, which have not been reported from the Qigu assemblage. The known Late Jurassic mammalian assemblages of Asia are similar to the Middle Jurassic assemblages known from Asia and elsewhere in the world.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{&quot;location&quot;:&quot;wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal&quot;,&quot;work_title&quot;:&quot;Mammals from the Late Jurassic Qigu Formation in the Southern Junggar Basin, Xinjiang, Northwest China&quot;,&quot;attachmentId&quot;:34252285,&quot;attachmentType&quot;:&quot;pdf&quot;,&quot;work_url&quot;:&quot;https://www.academia.edu/5744223/Mammals_from_the_Late_Jurassic_Qigu_Formation_in_the_Southern_Junggar_Basin_Xinjiang_Northwest_China&quot;,&quot;alternativeTracking&quot;:true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/5744223/Mammals_from_the_Late_Jurassic_Qigu_Formation_in_the_Southern_Junggar_Basin_Xinjiang_Northwest_China"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div><div class="ds-related-work--container js-wsj-grid-card" data-collection-position="1" data-entity-id="20515804" data-sort-order="default"><a class="ds-related-work--title js-wsj-grid-card-title ds2-5-body-md ds2-5-body-link" href="https://www.academia.edu/20515804/Palaeobiogeography_and_evolution_of_Jurassic_mammals_in_Central_Asia">Palaeobiogeography and evolution of Jurassic mammals in Central Asia</a><div class="ds-related-work--metadata"><a class="js-wsj-grid-card-author ds2-5-body-sm ds2-5-body-link" data-author-id="8358822" href="https://zin.academia.edu/AlexanderAverianov">Alexander Averianov</a></div><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{&quot;location&quot;:&quot;wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal&quot;,&quot;work_title&quot;:&quot;Palaeobiogeography and evolution of Jurassic mammals in Central Asia&quot;,&quot;attachmentId&quot;:41414243,&quot;attachmentType&quot;:&quot;pdf&quot;,&quot;work_url&quot;:&quot;https://www.academia.edu/20515804/Palaeobiogeography_and_evolution_of_Jurassic_mammals_in_Central_Asia&quot;,&quot;alternativeTracking&quot;:true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/20515804/Palaeobiogeography_and_evolution_of_Jurassic_mammals_in_Central_Asia"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div><div class="ds-related-work--container js-wsj-grid-card" data-collection-position="2" data-entity-id="64960760" data-sort-order="default"><a class="ds-related-work--title js-wsj-grid-card-title ds2-5-body-md ds2-5-body-link" href="https://www.academia.edu/64960760/A_new_docodont_mammal_from_the_Late_Jurassic_of_the_Junggar_Basin_in_Northwest_China">A new docodont mammal from the Late Jurassic of the Junggar Basin in Northwest China</a><div class="ds-related-work--metadata"><a class="js-wsj-grid-card-author ds2-5-body-sm ds2-5-body-link" data-author-id="35614218" href="https://independent.academia.edu/MWMaisch">Michael W Maisch</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--metadata ds2-5-body-xs">2005</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">Fieldwork in the early Late Jurassic (Oxfordian) Qigu Formation of the Junggar Basin in Northwest China (Xinjiang Au− tonomous Region) produced teeth and mandibular fragments of a new docodont. The new taxon has a large “pseudo− talonid” on the lower molars, and by retention of crest b−g exhibits closer affinities to Simpsonodon and Krusatodon from the Middle Jurassic of Europe than to the other known Asian docodonts Tashkumyrodon, Tegotherium, and Sibirotherium. It differs from the Haldanodon–Docodon−lineage by the “pseudotalonid” and large cusps b and g. A PAUP analysis based on lower molar characters produced a single most parsimonious tree with two main clades. One clade comprises Docodon, Haldanodon, and Borealestes, and the other Dsungarodon, Simpsonodon, and Krusatodon plus the Asian tegotheriids. Analysis of the molar occlusal relationships using epoxy casts mounted on a micromanipulator revealed a four−phase chewing cycle with transverse component. The tooth exhibits the typical structure of a docodont lower molar with the main cusp a connected by crests to the lingual cusps (c and g) and to the mesial cusp b. Tashkumyrodon is plesiomorphic in retaining well developed crests c-d and d-f, and derived in reduction of crest b-g. By formation of crests b-e and e-g (derived), Tashkumyrodon resembles Tegotherium from the Late Jurassic of Mongolia and Sibirotherium from the Early Cretaceous of West Siberia, Russia. Tegotherium is more derived than Tashkumyrodon by the more prominent anterior basin (“pseudotalonid”) and the reduction of the crests distal to cusp c. The Asian docodonts probably represent the sister group of all remaining docodonts, an Euramerican clade characterized by retention of crest b-g and reduction of cusp e as well as crest b-e. Simpsonodon from the Middle Jurassic of England is convergently similar to Tegotherium in development of a “pseudotalonid” and reduction of distal crests.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{&quot;location&quot;:&quot;wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal&quot;,&quot;work_title&quot;:&quot;A new docodont (Mammalia) from the Middle Jurassic of Kyrgyzstan, central Asia&quot;,&quot;attachmentId&quot;:34252247,&quot;attachmentType&quot;:&quot;pdf&quot;,&quot;work_url&quot;:&quot;https://www.academia.edu/5744226/A_new_docodont_Mammalia_from_the_Middle_Jurassic_of_Kyrgyzstan_central_Asia&quot;,&quot;alternativeTracking&quot;:true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/5744226/A_new_docodont_Mammalia_from_the_Middle_Jurassic_of_Kyrgyzstan_central_Asia"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div><div class="ds-related-work--container js-wsj-grid-card" data-collection-position="6" data-entity-id="3856254" data-sort-order="default"><a class="ds-related-work--title js-wsj-grid-card-title ds2-5-body-md ds2-5-body-link" href="https://www.academia.edu/3856254/Stratigraphy_and_palaeoenvironment_of_the_dinosaur_bearing_Upper_Cretaceous_Iren_Dabasu_Formation_Inner_Mongolia_Peoples_Republic_of_China">Stratigraphy and palaeoenvironment of the dinosaur-bearing Upper Cretaceous Iren Dabasu Formation, Inner Mongolia, People&#39;s Republic of China</a><div class="ds-related-work--metadata"><a class="js-wsj-grid-card-author ds2-5-body-sm ds2-5-body-link" data-author-id="4746200" href="https://independent.academia.edu/JimmyVanItterbeeck">Jimmy Van Itterbeeck</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--metadata ds2-5-body-xs">Cretaceous Research, 2005</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">New field observations and sedimentological analyses of the dinosaur-bearing Upper Cretaceous Iren Dabasu Formation in the Iren Nor region of Inner Mongolia (People&#39;s Republic of China) have led to a better understanding of its palaeoenvironment. The fluvial deposits represent a braided river that, due to the large amount of fines, does not fit the classical model for braided rivers. The study area is divided into two parts: in the northern part, sediments of the main channel belt of the ancient braided river system are exposed along a dry river valley on the northern edge of the Iren Nor salt lake, while in the southern part, comprising all other studied exposures, different facies of the ancient floodplain are represented, including minor channels, temporary ponds, and palaeosols. The difference between the northern and southern parts is also reflected in the fossil content; only the southern exposures have yielded dinosaur remains. The ancient braided river had a broad, vegetated floodplain populated by a diverse dinosaur fauna. Four species of charophytes are described and illustrated from the Iren Nor site, together with eight species of ostracods, one of which (Cypridea irennorensis sp. nov.) is new. Contrary to the vertebrate data, both groups of microfossils indicate a latest Cretaceous age (Campanian–Maastrichtian) for the Iren Dabasu Formation, and suggest a possible correlation with the Nemegt Formation, which would allow the age estimation to be refined to latest Campanian–Early Maastrichtian.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{&quot;location&quot;:&quot;wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal&quot;,&quot;work_title&quot;:&quot;Stratigraphy and palaeoenvironment of the dinosaur-bearing Upper Cretaceous Iren Dabasu Formation, Inner Mongolia, People&#39;s Republic of China&quot;,&quot;attachmentId&quot;:50114324,&quot;attachmentType&quot;:&quot;pdf&quot;,&quot;work_url&quot;:&quot;https://www.academia.edu/3856254/Stratigraphy_and_palaeoenvironment_of_the_dinosaur_bearing_Upper_Cretaceous_Iren_Dabasu_Formation_Inner_Mongolia_Peoples_Republic_of_China&quot;,&quot;alternativeTracking&quot;:true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/3856254/Stratigraphy_and_palaeoenvironment_of_the_dinosaur_bearing_Upper_Cretaceous_Iren_Dabasu_Formation_Inner_Mongolia_Peoples_Republic_of_China"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div><div class="ds-related-work--container js-wsj-grid-card" data-collection-position="7" data-entity-id="20515571" data-sort-order="default"><a class="ds-related-work--title js-wsj-grid-card-title ds2-5-body-md ds2-5-body-link" href="https://www.academia.edu/20515571/Revision_of_a_pretribosphenic_mammal_Arguimus_from_the_Early_Cretaceous_of_Mongolia">Revision of a pretribosphenic mammal Arguimus from the Early Cretaceous of Mongolia</a><div class="ds-related-work--metadata"><a class="js-wsj-grid-card-author ds2-5-body-sm ds2-5-body-link" data-author-id="8358822" href="https://zin.academia.edu/AlexanderAverianov">Alexander Averianov</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--metadata ds2-5-body-xs">Acta Palaeontologica Polonica, 2006</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">Arguimus khosbajari is redescribed, based on five additional specimens from the topotypic Early Cretaceous (Aptian–Albian) Höövör locality in Mongolia.
