The walls of the house enclosed the temple and the place of the Mercy Seat. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And he made a lower circular corridor five cubits in its width, and a middle one six cubits in its width, and a third, seven cubits in its width, because a jutting out part was made for the house as a circle from outside that would shut the walls within walls.<p> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And the house, when being built, was built with whole stones that were transported, and a hammer or a saw or any instrument of iron was not heard in the house as it was built.<p> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And the door of the surrounding corridor at the middle to the south side of the house, and with a staircase going up to the middle one, and from the middle one going up to the third. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And he built the house and he finished it and he roofed the house with planks of cedar. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And he built surrounding corridors against the whole house, five cubits in their height and enclosed the house in wood of cedar.<p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And the response of LORD JEHOVAH was to Solomon saying: <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>&#8220;This house that you have built, if you will walk in my covenant and you will keep my judgments, and you will do all my commands and you will walk in them, I shall establish my words with you which I spoke to David your father. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And I shall dwell within the children of Israel, and I shall not forsake my people Israel.&#8221;<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And Solomon built the house and he finished it.<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And he built the walls of the house from within with boards of cedar, from its foundation and unto its ceilings, a layer of wood from within, and overlaid the foundation of the house with boards of cypress trees. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And Solomon built twenty cubits from the outer sides of the house with boards of cedar, from its foundation and unto its roof, and he built it from within the Holy of Holies. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>The house was forty cubits, that is, the inner temple. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And cedar was covering the house from within, and it was lattice work and carved ornaments, and lilies and all was of cedar, and a stone was not seen in it. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And The Holy Place within the house from the center was constructed to set up there the ark of the covenant of LORD JEHOVAH. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And he overlaid the Holy place, twenty cubits its length and twenty cubits its width, and twenty cubits its height, and he overlaid it with refined gold and overlaid the altar in cedar. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And Solomon overlaid the house from within with refined gold, and he made a porch before the Holy Place, and he overlaid it with gold. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And the entire house he covered with gold until he had finished the entire house and all the altar of the Holy Place in a layer of gold.<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And he made in the place of Holiness two Cherubim of wood, its length a measure of ten cubits. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And five cubits the width of one Cherub, and five cubits the wing of the other Cherub, and ten cubits from the top of his wing and unto the tip of his wing. <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And the other Cherub was ten cubits, the measure was one height for both Cherubim. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And the height of one Cherub was ten cubits, and so was the other Cherub. <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And he made the Cherubim within the inner house and the wings of the Cherubim spread out and touched the wing of one on the wall and the wing of the other Cherub touched on the other wall, and their wings which were in the midst of the house joined one another. <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And he overlaid the Cherubim with refined gold.<p> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>And for all the walls of the house he made revolving ornaments and he carved ornaments and Cherubim and palm trees and lilies from within and from outside. <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>And the foundation of the house he covered with gold from within and from outside.<p> <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>And for the door of the Holy Place he made a door of wood, its door posts of firm size, and they were strong. <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-32.htm#aramaic"><b>32</b></a></span>And two doors of a large tree, and engravings of Cherubim and carved ornaments and palm trees and lilies were carved upon them and overlaid in gold, and he put more gold on the Cherubim and on the palm trees.<p> <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-33.htm#aramaic"><b>33</b></a></span>And thus he made for the door of the temple, its gate posts of large wood, plain and square. <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-34.htm#aramaic"><b>34</b></a></span>And the two doors of wood of two cypresses, the sides of one door were carved and the two sides of the other door were carved. <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-35.htm#aramaic"><b>35</b></a></span>And he carved Cherubim and ornaments and palm trees and lilies and overlaid them in beautiful gold engraving.<p> <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-36.htm#aramaic"><b>36</b></a></span>And he built the inner courtyard three rows of cut stone and a row of saplings of cedar.<p> <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-37.htm#aramaic"><b>37</b></a></span>And in the fourth year the foundation of the house of LORD JEHOVAH was laid in the month Eyar. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/6-38.htm#aramaic"><b>38</b></a></span>And in year eleven in the month Teshrithe latter half, which is the eighth month, he finished the
