La thématique qui parcourt l’ensemble du récit concerne les relations fondatrices de l’être humain. L’historien ne peut pas dire grand-chose sur l’historicité des personnages et des faits relatés dans la Genèse. Les sources anciennes connues par ailleurs sont muettes sur les faits que raconte ce livre. </em></p></div><div class="texte-biblique w-richtext"><p>Dieu mit au test Abraham – il lui dit :<br/>— Prends, je te prie, ton fils ton unique que tu aimes Isaac et va-t’en vers la terre du Morîyâ et fais-le monter là pour un holocauste sur une des montagnes que je te dirai. Domaine public.</figcaption></figure><h3>L'interprétation des Pères de l'Église : une préfiguration du Christ ?</h3><p>Pour les Pères de l'Église, <strong>Isaac chargé du bois préfigure Jésus qui « <em>porte lui-même sa croix </em>»</strong><em> (Jn 19, 17)</em>. Le sacrifice d'Isaac viendrait préparer la passion du Christ.</p><p>Père de l’Église du troisième siècle, Clément d’Alexandrie indique : </p><blockquote>‍<em>« Isaac est le type du Seigneur : enfant en tant que fils – puisqu’il était le fils d’Abraham comme le Christ est le fils de Dieu – victime comme le Seigneur. Mais il ne fut pas consumé, comme le fut le Seigneur. Isaac se borna à porter le bois du sacrifice, comme le Seigneur celui de la croix. » (Paed. 1,5, 23)</em></blockquote><p>Les Pères de l’Église insistent donc sur la pédagogie divine : cet événement préfigure simplement un père prêt à sacrifier son fils, son unique. Domaine public.</figcaption></figure><h3>L'interprétation des sciences humaines : sacrifice d'Isaac ou d'Abraham ?</h3><p>De nombreux auteurs contemporains font appel aux sciences humaines pour relire le récit de la ligature d’Isaac. </p><p>Ainsi, la psychologue et psychanalyste Marie Balmary, en 1986, lit le passage en fonction de son expérience psychanalytique clinique : Abraham ne comprend pas la demande divine. C’est un thème qu’aborde Olivier Clément dans son autobiographie spirituelle L’autre soleil :</p><div class="mot-fin-rich w-richtext"><p><em>« Comme tout le monde, et pour longtemps encore, j’achoppais au mystère du mal et "rendais mon billet" devant un ordre universel par trop complice de l’horreur. Je ne savais pas encore que la Sagesse originelle est traversée par le tragique (en moi d’abord), que le Créateur, chassé de sa création, n’a pu y entrer que crucifié, que la puissance de la
