Good men are more careful and desirous to know the duty to be done by them, than to know the events concerning them: duty is ours, events are God's. God will guide those by his counsel, who desire to know their duty, and apply to him to teach them. Pious parents, especially, will beg Divine assistance. The angel repeats the directions he had before given. There is need of much care for the right ordering both of ourselves and our children, that we may be duly separate from the world, and living sacrifices to the Lord.<a name="bar" id="bar"></a><div class="vheading2"><a href="/commentaries/barnes/judges/13.htm">Barnes' Notes on the Bible</a></div>A man of God - The designation of a prophet, of frequent use in the books of Samuel and Kings <a href="/1_samuel/2-27.htm">1 Samuel 2:27</a>; <a href="http://biblehub.com/1_samuel/9-6.htm">1 Samuel 9:6-8</a>, <a href="/1_samuel/9-10.htm">1 Samuel 9:10</a>; <a href="/1_kings/12-22.htm">1 Kings 12:22</a>; <a href="http://biblehub.com/1_kings/13-1.htm">1 Kings 13:1</a>, <a href="http://biblehub.com/1_kings/13-5.htm">1 Kings 13:5-6</a>, <a href="http://biblehub.com/1_kings/13-11.htm">1 Kings 13:11</a>, and applied to Timothy by Paul in the New Testament <a href="/1_timothy/6-11.htm">1 Timothy 6:11</a>; <a href="/2_timothy/3-17.htm">2 Timothy 3:17</a>.<p>His countenance - Rather, "his appearance," as the word is rendered in <a href="/daniel/10-18.htm">Daniel 10:18</a>. <a name="jfb" id="jfb"></a><div class="vheading2"><a href="/commentaries/jfb/judges/13.htm">Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary</a></div>Jud 13:11-14. The plural דּבריך is construed ad sensum with the singular verb, because the words form one promise, so that the expression is not to be taken distributively, as Rosenmller supposes. This also applies to <a href="http://biblehub.com/judges/13-17.htm">Judges 13:17</a>, Mishpat, the right belonging to a boy, i.e., the proper treatment of him. <div class="vheading2">Links</div><a href="/interlinear/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 Interlinear</a><br /><a href="/texts/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 Parallel Texts</a><br /><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="/niv/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 NIV</a><br /><a href="/nlt/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 NLT</a><br /><a href="/esv/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 ESV</a><br /><a href="/nasb/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 NASB</a><br /><a href="/kjv/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 KJV</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="http://bibleapps.com/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 Bible Apps</a><br /><a href="/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 Parallel</a><br /><a href="http://bibliaparalela.com/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 Biblia Paralela</a><br /><a href="http://holybible.com.cn/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 Chinese Bible</a><br /><a href="http://saintebible.com/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 French Bible</a><br /><a href="http://bibeltext.com/judges/13-11.htm">Judges 13:11 German Bible</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="/">Bible Hub</a><br /></div></div></td></tr></table></div><div id="mdd"><div align="center"><div class="bot2"><table align="center" width="100%"><tr><td align="center"><div align="center"> <script id="3d27ed63fc4348d5b062c4527ae09445"> (new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=51ce25d5-1a8c-424a-8695-4bd48c750f35&cid=3a9f82d0-4344-4f8d-ac0c-e1a0eb43a405'; </script> <script id="b817b7107f1d4a7997da1b3c33457e03"> (new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=cb0edd8b-b416-47eb-8c6d-3cc96561f7e8&cid=3a9f82d0-4344-4f8d-ac0c-e1a0eb43a405'; </script><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-728x90-ATF --> <div id='div-gpt-ad-1529103594582-2'> </div><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-300x250-ATF --> <div id='div-gpt-ad-1529103594582-0' style='max-width: 300px;'> </div><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-728x90-BTF --> <div id='div-gpt-ad-1529103594582-3'> </div><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-300x250-BTF --> <div id='div-gpt-ad-1529103594582-1' style='max-width: 300px;'> </div><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-728x90-BTF2 --> <div align="center" id='div-gpt-ad-1531425649696-0'> </div><br /><br /> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:200px;height:200px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-3753401421161123" data-ad-slot="3592799687"></ins> <script> (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); </script><br /><br /> </div> <div id="left"><a href="../judges/13-10.htm" onmouseover='lft.src="/leftgif.png"' onmouseout='lft.src="/left.png"' title="Judges 13:10"><img src="/left.png" name="lft" border="0" alt="Judges 13:10" /></a></div><div id="right"><a href="../judges/13-12.htm" onmouseover='rght.src="/rightgif.png"' onmouseout='rght.src="/right.png"' title="Judges 13:12"><img src="/right.png" name="rght" border="0" alt="Judges 13:12" /></a></div><div id="botleft"><a href="#" onmouseover='botleft.src="/botleftgif.png"' onmouseout='botleft.src="/botleft.png"' title="Top of Page"><img src="/botleft.png" name="botleft" border="0" alt="Top of Page" /></a></div><div id="botright"><a href="#" onmouseover='botright.src="/botrightgif.png"' onmouseout='botright.src="/botright.png"' title="Top of Page"><img src="/botright.png" name="botright" border="0" alt="Top of Page" /></a></div> <div id="bot"><iframe width="100%" height="1500" scrolling="no" src="/botmenubhnew2.htm" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></td></tr></table></div></body></html>
