Do not omit<MH1639> a word<MH1697>! <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>Perhaps<MH194> they will listen<MH8085> and everyone<MH376> will turn<MH7725> from his evil<MH7451a> way<MH1870>, and I will relent<MH5162> of the disaster<MH7463a> which<MH834> I am planning<MH2803> to inflict<MH6213a> on them because<MH4480, 6440> of the evil<MH7455> of their deeds<MH4611>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>And you shall say<MH559> to them, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> says<MH559>: “If<MH518> you do not listen<MH8085> to Me, to walk<MH1980> in My Law<MH8451> which<MH834> I have set<MH5414> before<MH6440> you, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>to listen<MH8085> to the words<MH1697> of My servants<MH5650> the prophets<MH5030>, whom<MH834> I have been sending<MH7971> to you again<MH7925> and again<MH7971>, but you have not listened<MH8085>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>then I will make<MH5414> this<MH2088> house<MH1004> like Shiloh<MH7887>, and I will make<MH5414> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> a curse<MH7045> to all<MH3605> the nations<MH1471> of the earth<MH776>.”’” <p class="hdg">A Plot to Murder Jeremiah</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>The priests<MH3548> and the prophets<MH5030> and all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a> heard<MH8085> Jeremiah<MH3414> speaking<MH1696> these<MH428> words<MH1697> in the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Yet when Jeremiah<MH3414> finished<MH3615> speaking<MH1696> everything<MH3605> that the LORD<MH3068> had commanded<MH6680> <i>him</i> to speak<MH1696> to all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a>, <i>then</i> the priests<MH3548> and the prophets<MH5030> and all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a> seized<MH8610> him, saying<MH559>, “You must<MH4191> die<MH4191>! <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Why<MH4069> have you prophesied<MH5012> in the name<MH8034> of the LORD<MH3068>, saying<MH559>, ‘This<MH2088> house<MH1004> will be like Shiloh<MH7887> and this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> will be in ruins<MH2717b>, without<MH369> inhabitant<MH3427>’?” And all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a> gathered<MH6950> to Jeremiah<MH3414> at the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>When the officials<MH8269> of Judah<MH3063> heard<MH8085> these<MH428> things<MH1697>, they came<MH5927> up<MH5927> from the king’s<MH4428> house<MH1004> to the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068> and sat<MH3427> at the entrance<MH6607> of the New<MH2319> Gate<MH8179> of the LORD’S<MH3068> <i>house.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Then the priests<MH3548> and the prophets<MH5030> spoke<MH559> to the officials<MH8269> and to all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a>, saying<MH559>, “A death<MH4194> sentence<MH4941> for this<MH2088> man<MH376>! For he has prophesied<MH5012> against<MH413> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b>, just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> you have heard<MH8085> with your own ears<MH241>!” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then Jeremiah<MH3414> spoke<MH559> to all<MH3605> the officials<MH8269> and to all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a>, saying<MH559>, “The LORD<MH3068> sent<MH7971> me to prophesy<MH5012> against<MH413> this<MH2088> house<MH1004> and against<MH413> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> all<MH3605> the words<MH1697> that you have heard<MH8085>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Now<MH6258> then, reform<MH3190> your ways<MH1870> and your deeds<MH4611> and obey<MH8085> the voice<MH6963> of the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>; and the LORD<MH3068> will relent<MH5162> of the disaster<MH7463a> which<MH834> He has pronounced<MH1696> against<MH5921> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>But as for me, behold<MH2009>, I am in your hands<MH3027>; do<MH6213a> with me as is good<MH2896a> and right<MH3477> in your sight<MH5869>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Only<MH389> know<MH3045> for<MH3045> certain<MH3045> that if<MH518> you put<MH4191> me to<MH4191> death<MH4191>, you will bring<MH5414> innocent<MH5355a> blood<MH1818> on yourselves, and on this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> and its inhabitants<MH3427>; for truly<MH571> the LORD<MH3068> has sent<MH7971> me to you to speak<MH1696> all<MH3605> these<MH428> words<MH1697> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>so that you hear<MH241> them.” <p class="hdg">Jeremiah Is Spared</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Then the officials<MH8269> and all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a> said<MH559> to the priests<MH3548> and the prophets<MH5030>, “No<MH369> death<MH4194> sentence<MH4941> for this<MH2088> man<MH376>! For he has spoken<MH1696> to us in the name<MH8034> of the LORD<MH3068> our God<MH430>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Then some<MH376> of the elders<MH2205> of the land<MH776> rose<MH6965> up<MH6965> and spoke<MH559> to all<MH3605> the assembly<MH6951> of the people<MH5971a>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>“<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>Micah<MH4318> of Moresheth<MH4183> used to prophesy<MH5012> in the days<MH3117> of Hezekiah<MH2396> king<MH4428> of Judah<MH3063>; and he spoke<MH559> to all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a> of Judah<MH3063>, saying<MH559>, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> has said<MH559>: <p class="indent1stline">“Zion<MH6726> will be plowed<MH2790a> <i>like</i> a field<MH7704>, <t><p class="indent1">And Jerusalem<MH3389> will become<MH1961> heaps<MH5856> of<MH5856> ruins<MH5856>, <t><p class="indent1">And the mountain<MH2022> of the house<MH1004> like the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>high<MH1116> places<MH1116> of a forest<MH3293a>.”’ <A><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/26-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Did Hezekiah<MH2396> king<MH4428> of Judah<MH3063> and all<MH3605> Judah<MH3063> actually<MH4191> put<MH4191> him to<MH4191> death<MH4191>? Did he not fear<MH3372a> the LORD<MH3068> and plead<MH2470b> for<MH2470b> the favor<MH6440> of the LORD<MH3068>, and the LORD<MH3068> relented<MH5162> of the disaster<MH7463a> which<MH834> He had pronounced<MH1696> against<MH5921> them?
