If you can please make a donation to Save The Children.</p> </p></div> <p> They provide a rare contrast to the greyish-brown city streetscape, whose dusty, fume-filled air will reach 60 degrees this summer and is some of the most polluted in the world. <p>Brightness and colour might inspire initial hope in the minds of concerned parents here, but both hospitals still lack vital machines and laboratory equipment needed to provide radiotherapy or to diagnose the numerous conditions that mean up to 10 babies die every day in the Ibn Ghazwan maternity ward.</p> <p>“We are blind,” says Dr Ahmed Jafer, a paediatric specialist. “Ours is the only neo-natal unit in this region but we cannot quickly diagnose what exactly we are dealing with. Our children are dying from malnutrition, diarrhoea, TB, meningitis, leishmaniasis, chronic liver disease, pneumonia, anaemia and congenital heart disease, all of which are easily preventable outside ترؤسه اجتماعا اليوم لبحث تطورات الوضع الامني" يجب ان لا نسمح بحصول انتكاسة في الملف الامني لانها ستكون قاسية ". <br/>واضاف المالكي " لابد ان نحافظ على الامن وبشكل تصاعدي من خلال التشخيص الواقعي <p>أعلنت نقابة الصحفيين في محافظة البصرة اليوم الجمعة، عن ان ثلاثة من صحفيي واعلاميي المحافظة تعرضوا للضرب المبرح على يد الشرطة أثناء تظاهرات اليوم.  <br/>وقال حيدر المنصوري من داخل احدى مستشفيات البصرة في تصريح صحفي  ان "ثلاثة من الصحفيين والاعلاميين تعرضوا لاصابات مختلفة على يد الشرطة اثناء تغطيتهم لمجريات التظاهرة".  <br/>واوضح ان "الصحفيين المصابين تم نقلهم الى المستشفى وهم نبيل الجوراني من وكالة الاسيوشيتدبرس وشهاب احمد من وكالة بغداد ومحمد الراصد من قناة العالم".  <br/>ولم يدلي المنصوري بمزيد من التفاصيل بسبب انشغاله في عملية الاشراف على اصابات الزملاء الصحفيين.  <br/>وكان نقيب الصحفيين في  البصرة قد ذكر في وقت سابق من اليوم  بانه حصل على ضمانات من قبل قيادة عمليات البصرة لتسهيل عمل الصحفيين وتوفير الحماية لهم خلال التظاهرة.  <br/>وخرج عشرات المتظاهرين للمرة الثانية على التوالي بعد جمعة الغضب الماضية بالرغم من اعتراض جهات حزبية ودينية وعشائرية وسط اعلان السلطات المحلية في كل من كركوك وصلاح الدين والموصل عن فرض حظر على سير المركبات والاشخاص، فيما فرضت سلطات البصرة <p>أكدت شرطة محافظة البصرة، الاثنين، تفاقم ظاهرة خطف الأطفال في عدد من المناطق السكنية، وفيما اتهم مجلس المحافظة جهات خارجية لم يسمها بارتكاب هذه الجرائم، أعرب مواطنون عن تخوفهم من تزايدها، مطالبين القوى الأمنية للقضاء عليها. <br/>وقال قائد قوات الشرطة في البصرة اللواء الركن عادل دحام في حديث لـ"السومرية نيوز"، إن "قوات الشرطة كثفت في الآونة الأخيرة من إجراءاتها الأمنية للحد من ظاهرة خطف الأطفال، والقبض على منفذيها"، مبيناً أن "من بين تلك الإجراءات تكثيف الجهد الإستخباراتي في المناطق التي سجلت ارتفاعاً في معدلات جرائم الخطف، ومنها الطويسة، ودور الضباط". <br/>وأشار دحام الى أن "تشكيلات قوات الشرطة القت القبض ظهر اليوم على عصابة لخطف الأطفال في ناحية الدير"، نحو 60 كلم شمال مدينة البصرة، وكانت ألقت الأسبوع الماضي القبض على 10 أشخاص من بينهم نساء ينتمون الى عصابات متخصصة بخطف الأطفال، وتمكنت من تحرير ثلاثة أطفال"، موضحاً أن "جميع عمليات الاعتقال نفذت وفقاً لمعلومات استخباراتية دقيقة". <br/>ودعا قائد الشرطة ذوي المخطوفين الى "الإبلاغ عن جرائم الخطف وعدم الانصياع لتحذيرات الخاطفين الذين يشترطون في أول إتصال لهم، عدم ابلاغ القوات الأمنية"، لافتاً الى أن "التحقيقات مع المعتقلين تفيد بوجود أماكن يحتجزون فيها الضحايا قريباً من أماكن خطفهم، ثم يقومون بنقلهم إلى أماكن أخرى بعيدة عن مركز المدينة". <br/>وتابع دحام، أن "عمليات نقل المخطوفين تتم عادة في الفترات التي تكون فيها نقاط التفتيش في حالة استرخاء وخمول"، مبيناً ان "نقطة الضعف هذه سنعمل على معالجتها بشكل جدي".    <br/>من جانبه، أفاد رئيس مجلس محافظة البصرة جبار أمين جابر في حديث لـ"السومرية نيوز"، بأن "جرائم خطف الأطفال لا تختلف كثيراً عن التفجيرات التي تستهدف المدنيين في الأسواق، لانها تهدف جميعها الى زعزعة الأمن بدافع عرقلة النهوض الاقتصادي وإفشال التجربة الديمقراطية في العراق"، على حد تعبيره. <br/>ولفت جابر الى "وجود عصابات تعمل لصالح جهات خارجية (لم يسمها) تقوم بخطف الأطفال وتطلب من ذويهم فدية كشرط لإطلاق سراحهم، للإيحاء بان دافعها هو الحصول على المال"، داعياً القوات الأمنية الى "القضاء على هذه الظاهرة من خلال تكثيف وتطوير الجهد الإستخباراتي". <br/>في الأثناء أعرب مواطنون بصريون عن تخوفهم من ارتفاع معدلات ارتكاب جرائم الخطف، وقال المواطن عبد الرضا ستار من سكنة منطقة الطويسة لـ"السومرية نيوز"، ان "الكثير من الأسر الميسورة باتت في هذه الأيام، ترافق أبناءها لدى ذهابهم الى المدارس خشية تعرضهم للخطف". <br/>وأكد أن "سلسلة الجرائم التي وقعت في الاسبوعين الماضيين خلفت آثاراً نفسية سيئة عند المواطنين في منطقة الطويسة ومناطق سكنية أخرى، لشعورهم بالخوف والتهديد"، مشيراً الى أن "منطقة الطويسة وحدها شهدت تعرض 4 أطفال الى الخطف في غضون أقل من شهر". <br/>يذكر أن محافظة البصرة، نحو 590 كم جنوب بغداد، شهدت في الأشهر القليلة الماضية زيادة ملحوظة في معدلات ارتكاب جرائم الخطف، بعد أن سجل العام 2008 أدنى مستوى لهذا النوع من العمليات منذ العام 2003، وغالباً ما تعلن القوات الأمنية عن تحرير مخطوفين والقاء القبض على خاطفيهم، ويهدف الخاطفون في العادة الى الحصول على فدية مالية من ذوي المخطوفين، أو وأن عددا منهم قد توفي واكد المصدر ان مستشفى البصرة العام شهد وصول 10 حالات مشتبه باصابتها بمرض انفلونزا الخنازير H1N1.</p> <p>وأضاف أن هناك حالتين مشخصتين وحالتي وفاة لمصابين بالمرض نفسه، فضلا عن وصول حالة وفاة الى مستشفى الطوارئ بالمرض المذكور خلال الايام الماضية. وأوضح ان المستشفى سجلت خلال العام الماضي 4 حالات اصابة بداء الكلب و114 حالة لمرض انفلونزا الخنازير H1N1، منها 50 حالة مشخصة.</p> Many masses were called off across the country, and security measures heightened. But in the midst of this also the determination expressed in a message also sent to <i>AsiaNews </i>by Archbishop Louis Sako of Kirkuk. According to <i>Middle East Concern</i>, the celebrations were cancelled as a result of threats posted on Web sites of Islamic groups. "The decision was taken after the threats were repeated on Tuesday, December 22. The churches in Baghdad, Mosul and Kirkuk have decided not to put up Christmas decorations and called off ceremonies after dark”.</p> <p>Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has called on Christians not to leave Iraq. "Attempts to keep Christians away from their homeland and their land, which clung to them through the centuries, is a great crime against national unity," al-Maliki said in a statement marking the Christmas holiday. But many churches in Mosul did not hold celebrations while in Basra the roads leading to churches were cordoned off with barbed wire, and the buildings were surrounded by security forces.</p> <p>In this gloomy picture, the archbishop of Kirkuk, wants to talk about hope. "As long as we get back to each other: Arabs, Kurds and Turkmen, Muslims and Christians, we resist and we stay, because Iraq without us loses its beautiful multi-identity. We remain because are committed to love and to return to each other. This is the road to resurrection, life and renewal".</p> <p>Archbishop Sako recalled Oct. 31: " We live in Iraq today, a painful experience, culminating in the massacre of Our Lady of Deliverance, which have shocked Christians and Muslims together, but we are determined to withstand the ordeal.
