developed for rechargeable non-aqueous electrolyte lithium-air batteries with a partial opening for oxygen supply to the cathode. Multi-phase transport phenomena occurred in the battery are considered, including dissolved lithium ions and oxygen gas in the liquid electrolyte, solid-phase electron transfer in the porous functional materials and liquid-phase charge transport in the electrolyte. These transport processes are coupled with the electrochemical reactions at the active surfaces, and effects of discharge reaction-generated solid Li2O2 on the transport properties and the electrochemical reaction rate are evaluated and implemented in the model. The predicted results are discussed and analyzed in terms of the spatial and transient distribution of various parameters, such as local oxygen concentration, reaction rate, variable solid Li2O2 volume fraction and porosity, as well as the effective diffusion coefficients. It is found that the effect of the solid Li2O2 product deposited at the solid active surfaces is significant on the transport phenomena and the overall battery performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Computational%20Fluid%20Dynamics%20%28CFD%29" title="Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)">Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modeling" title=" modeling"> modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-phase" title=" multi-phase"> multi-phase</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transport%20phenomena" title=" transport phenomena"> transport phenomena</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lithium-air%20battery" title=" lithium-air battery"> lithium-air battery</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17940/cfd-analysis-of-multi-phase-reacting-transport-phenomena-in-discharge-process-of-non-aqueous-lithium-air-battery" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17940.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">451</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">66</span> Studying the Load Sharing and Failure Mechanism of Hybrid Composite Joints Using Experiment and Finite Element Modeling</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyyed%20Mohammad%20Hasheminia">Seyyed Mohammad Hasheminia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heoung%20Jae%20Chun"> Heoung Jae Chun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong%20Chan%20Park"> Jong Chan Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hong%20Suk%20Chang"> Hong Suk Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Composite joints have been getting attention recently due to their high specific mechanical strength to weight ratio that is crucial for structures such as aircrafts and automobiles. In this study on hybrid joints, quasi-static experiments and finite element analysis were performed to investigate the failure mechanism of hybrid composite joint with respect to the joint properties such as the adhesive material, clamping force, and joint geometry. The outcomes demonstrated that the stiffness of the adhesive is the most imperative design parameter. In this investigation, two adhesives with various stiffness values were utilized. Regarding the joints utilizing the adhesive with the lower stiffness modulus, it was observed that the load was exchanged promptly through the adhesive since it was shared more proficiently between the bolt and adhesive. This phenomenon permitted the hybrid joints with low-modulus adhesive to support more prominent loads before failure when contrasted with the joints that utilize the stiffer adhesive. In the next step, the stress share between the bond and bolt as a function of various design parameters was studied using a finite element model in which it was understood that the geometrical parameters such as joint overlap and width have a significant influence on the load sharing between the bolt and the adhesive. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite%20joints" title="composite joints">composite joints</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite%20materials" title=" composite materials"> composite materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20joints" title=" hybrid joints"> hybrid joints</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single-lap%20joint" title=" single-lap joint"> single-lap joint</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85844/studying-the-load-sharing-and-failure-mechanism-of-hybrid-composite-joints-using-experiment-and-finite-element-modeling" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85844.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">406</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">65</span> Possible Reasons for and Consequences of Generalizing Subgroup-Based Measurement Results to Populations: Based on Research Studies Conducted by Elementary Teachers in South Korea</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jaejun%20Jong">Jaejun Jong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Many teachers in South Korea conduct research to improve the quality of their instruction. Unfortunately, many researchers generalize the results of measurements based on one subgroup to other students or to the entire population, which can cause problems. This study aims to determine examples of possible problems resulting from generalizing measurements based on one subgroup to an entire population or another group. This study is needed, as teachers’ instruction and class quality significantly affect the overall quality of education, but the quality of research conducted by teachers can become questionable due to overgeneralization. Thus, finding potential problems of overgeneralization can improve the overall quality of education. The data in this study were gathered from 145 sixth-grade elementary school students in South Korea. The result showed that students in different classes could differ significantly in various ways; thus, generalizing the results of subgroups to an entire population can engender erroneous student predictions and evaluations, which can lead to inappropriate instruction plans. This result shows that finding the reasons for such overgeneralization can significantly improve the quality of education. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=generalization" title="generalization">generalization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=measurement" title=" measurement"> measurement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=research%20methodology" title=" research methodology"> research methodology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=teacher%20education" title=" teacher education"> teacher education</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151253/possible-reasons-for-and-consequences-of-generalizing-subgroup-based-measurement-results-to-populations-based-on-research-studies-conducted-by-elementary-teachers-in-south-korea" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151253.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">93</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">64</span> A Comparison between the McGrath Video Laryngoscope and the Macintosh Laryngoscopy in Children with Expected Normal Airway</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong%20Yeop%20Kim">Jong Yeop Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ji%20Eun%20Kim"> Ji Eun Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyun%20Jeong%20Kwak"> Hyun Jeong Kwak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sook%20Young%20Lee"> Sook Young Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: This prospective, randomized, controlled study was performed to evaluate the usefulness of the McGrath VL compared to Macintosh laryngoscopy in children with expected normal airway during endotracheal intubation, by comparing the time to intubation and ease of intubation. Methods: Eighty-four patients, aged 1-10 years undergoing endotracheal intubation for elective surgery were randomly assigned to McGrath group (n = 42) or Macintosh group (n = 42). Anesthesia was induced with propofol 2.5-3.0 mg/kg and sevoflurane 5-8 vol%. Orotracheal intubation was performed 2 minutes after injection of rocuronium 0.6 mg/kg with McGrath VL or Macintosh laryngoscope. The primary outcome was time to intubation. The Cormack and Lehane glottic grade, intubation difficulty score (IDS), and success rate of intubation were assessed. Hemodynamic changes also were recorded. Results: Median time to intubation [interquartile range] was not different between the McGrath group and the Macintosh group (25.0 [22.8-28.3] s vs. 26.0 [24.0-29.0] s, p = 0.301). The incidence of grade I glottic view was significantly higher in theMcGrath group than in the Macintosh group (95% vs. 74%, p = 0.013). Median IDS was lower in the McGrath group than in the Macintosh group (0 [0-0] vs. 0 [0-1], p = 0.018). There were no significant differences in success rate on intubation or hemodynamics between the two groups. Conclusions: McGrath VL provides better laryngeal views and lower IDS, but similar intubation times and success rates compared to the Macintosh laryngoscope in children with the normal airway. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intubation" title="intubation">intubation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Macintosh%20laryngoscopy" title=" Macintosh laryngoscopy"> Macintosh laryngoscopy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mcgrath%20videolaryngoscopy" title=" Mcgrath videolaryngoscopy"> Mcgrath videolaryngoscopy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pediatrics" title=" pediatrics"> pediatrics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75537/a-comparison-between-the-mcgrath-video-laryngoscope-and-the-macintosh-laryngoscopy-in-children-with-expected-normal-airway" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75537.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">228</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">63</span> A Study on Improvement of Performance of Anti-Splash Device for Cargo Oil Tank Vent Pipe Using CFD Simulation and Artificial Neural Network</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min-Woo%20Kim">Min-Woo Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ok-Kyun%20Na"> Ok-Kyun Na</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jun-Ho%20Byun"> Jun-Ho Byun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Hwan%20Park"> Jong-Hwan Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seung-Hwa%20Yang"> Seung-Hwa Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joon-Hong%20Park"> Joon-Hong Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young-Chul%20Park"> Young-Chul Park</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study is focused on the comparative analysis and improvement to grasp the flow characteristic of the Anti-Splash Device located under the P/V Valve and new concept design models using the CFD analysis and Artificial Neural Network. The P/V valve located upper deck to solve the pressure rising and vacuum condition of inner tank of the liquid cargo ships occurred oil outflow accident by transverse and longitudinal sloshing force. Anti-Splash Device is fitted to improve and prevent this problem in the shipbuilding industry. But the oil outflow accidents are still reported by ship owners. Thus, four types of new design model are presented by study. Then, comparative analysis is conducted with new models and existing model. Mostly the key criterion of this problem is flux in the outlet of the Anti-Splash Device. Therefore, the flow and velocity are grasped by transient analysis. For seaplane landing, recycling for the satellite re-entry capsule, and the impact load of the bow in the adverse sea conditions, the slamming problem always plays the important role. Due to its strong nonlinear effect, however, it seems to be not easy to obtain the accurate simulation results. Combined with the strong interaction between the fluid field and the elastic structure, the difficulty for the simulation leads to a new level for challenging. This paper presents a fully Lagrangian coupled solver for simulations of fluid-structure interactions, which is based on the Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) method to solve the governing equations corresponding to incompressible flows as well as elastic structures. The developed solver is verified by reproducing the high velocity impact loads of deformable thin wedges with two different materials such as aluminum and steel on water entry. The present simulation results are compared with analytical solution derived using the hydrodynamic Wagner model and linear theory by Wan. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fluid-structure%20interaction" title="fluid-structure interaction">fluid-structure interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moving%20particle%20semi-implicit%20%28MPS%29%20method" title=" moving particle semi-implicit (MPS) method"> moving particle semi-implicit (MPS) method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elastic%20structure" title=" elastic structure"> elastic structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=incompressible%20flow" title=" incompressible flow"> incompressible flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wedge%20slamming%20impact" title=" wedge slamming impact"> wedge slamming impact</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32919/numerical-simulation-of-fluid-structure-interaction-on-wedge-slamming-impact-by-using-particle-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32919.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">602</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">61</span> Development of Advanced Linear Calibration Technique for Air Flow Sensing by Using CTA-Based Hot Wire Anemometry</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Jong%20Tsai">Ming-Jong Tsai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=T.%20M.%20Wu"> T. It contains a host PC with Human Machine Interface, a wind tunnel, a wind speed controller, an automatic data acquisition module, and nonlinear calibration model. To improve the fitting error by using single fitting polynomial, this study proposes a Multiple three-order Polynomial Fitting Method (MPFM) for fitting the non-linear output of a CTA-based Hot wire Anemometry. The CTA-based anemometer with built-in fitting parameters is installed in the wind tunnel, and the wind speed is controlled by the PC-based controller. The Hot-Wire anemometer's thermistor resistance change is converted into a voltage signal or temperature differences, and then sent to the PC through a DAQ card. After completion measurements of original signal, the Multiple polynomial mathematical coefficients can be automatically calculated, and then sent into the micro-processor in the Hot-Wire anemometer. Finally, the corrected Hot-Wire anemometer is verified for the linearity, the repeatability, error percentage, and the system outputs quality control reports. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flow%20rate%20sensing" title="flow rate sensing">flow rate sensing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hot%20wire" title=" hot wire"> hot wire</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=constant%20temperature%20anemometry%20%28CTA%29" title=" constant temperature anemometry (CTA)"> constant temperature anemometry (CTA)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20calibration" title=" linear calibration"> linear calibration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20three-order%20polynomial%20fitting%20method%20%28MPFM%29" title=" multiple three-order polynomial fitting method (MPFM)"> multiple three-order polynomial fitting method (MPFM)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temperature%20compensation" title=" temperature compensation"> temperature compensation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24601/development-of-advanced-linear-calibration-technique-for-air-flow-sensing-by-using-cta-based-hot-wire-anemometry" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24601.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">416</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">60</span> Standardized Black Ginseng Extract Improving a Suppressed Immunomodulatory Effect Induced by Heat Stress</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Byung%20Wook%20Yang">Byung Wook Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong%20Dae%20Park"> Jong Dae Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wang%20Soo%20Shin"> Wang Soo Shin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ji-Hyeon%20Song"> Ji-Hyeon Song</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seo-Yun%20Choi"> Seo-Yun Choi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boo-Yong%20Lee"> Boo-Yong Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young%20Tae%20Hahm"> Young Tae Hahm</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) is frequently taken orally as a traditional herbal medicine with ginsenosides as the main pharmacological component in Asian countries, and its use is increasing worldwide. Recently, the increase in global temperature has been reported to cause various kinds of biological disorders induced by heat stress in human. The standardized black ginseng extract (SBGE; KGR-BG1) was developed in our biological screening experiment on the thermo-regulation, whose chemical characteristics were evaluated as ginsenoside Rg1, Rb1, Rg3(S), as well as Re, Rf, Rg2(S), Rh1(S), Rh2(S), and Rg5+Rk1. Heat stress responses such as body weight, food intake, water consumption have been measured when treated with Standardized Black Ginseng Extract (SBGE) in the animal experiment and also, biomarkers. SBGE treated group has been found to inhibit a decrease in body weight, a decrease in food intake and an increase in the water consumption when compared with non-treated group against environmental heat stress. These results suggest that SBGE might have a protective effect against environmental heat stress. And also, the several factors of stress response on the immune system need to be done for further studies and its evaluation is in progress. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ginseng" title="ginseng">ginseng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ginsenoside" title=" ginsenoside"> ginsenoside</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=standardization" title=" standardization"> standardization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20stress" title=" heat stress"> heat stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=immunomodulatory%20effect" title=" immunomodulatory effect"> immunomodulatory effect</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73607/standardized-black-ginseng-extract-improving-a-suppressed-immunomodulatory-effect-induced-by-heat-stress" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73607.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">297</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">59</span> Multi-Layer Multi-Feature Background Subtraction Using Codebook Model Framework</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yun-Tao%20Zhang">Yun-Tao Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Yeop%20Bae"> Jong-Yeop Bae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Whoi-Yul%20Kim"> Whoi-Yul Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background modeling and subtraction in video analysis has been widely proved to be an effective method for moving objects detection in many computer vision applications. Over the past years, a large number of approaches have been developed to tackle different types of challenges in this field. However, the dynamic background and illumination variations are two of the most frequently occurring issues in the practical situation. This paper presents a new two-layer model based on codebook algorithm incorporated with local binary pattern (LBP) texture measure, targeted for handling dynamic background and illumination variation problems. More specifically, the first layer is designed by block-based codebook combining with LBP histogram and mean values of RGB color channels. Because of the invariance of the LBP features with respect to monotonic gray-scale changes, this layer can produce block-wise detection results with considerable tolerance of illumination variations. The pixel-based codebook is employed to reinforce the precision from the outputs of the first layer which is to eliminate false positives further. As a result, the proposed approach can greatly promote the accuracy under the circumstances of dynamic background and illumination changes. Experimental results on several popular background subtraction datasets demonstrate a very competitive performance compared to previous models. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=background%20subtraction" title="background subtraction">background subtraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=codebook%20model" title=" codebook model"> codebook model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=local%20binary%20pattern" title=" local binary pattern"> local binary pattern</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20background" title=" dynamic background"> dynamic background</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=illumination%20change" title=" illumination change"> illumination change</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43011/multi-layer-multi-feature-background-subtraction-using-codebook-model-framework" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43011.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">217</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">58</span> A Low-Cost Dye Solar Cells Based on Ordinary Glass as Substrates</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sangmo%20Jon">Sangmo Jon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ganghyok%20Kim"> Ganghyok Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kwanghyok%20Jong"> Kwanghyok Jong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ilnam%20Jo"> Ilnam Jo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyangsun%20Kim"> Hyangsun Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kukhyon%20Pae"> Kukhyon Pae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GyeChol%20Sin"> GyeChol Sin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The back contact dye solar cells (BCDSCs), in which the transparent conductive oxide (TCO) is omitted, have the potential to use intact low-cost general substrates such as glass, metal foil, and papers. Herein, we introduce a facile manufacturing method of a Ti back contact electrode for the BCDSCs. We found that the polylinkers such as poly(butyl titanate) have a strong binding property to make Ti particles connect with one another. A porous Ti film, which consists of Ti particles of ≤10㎛ size connected by a small amount of polylinkers, has an excellent low sheet resistance of 10 ohm sq⁻¹ for an efficient electron collection for DSCs. This Ti back contact electrode can be prepared by using a facile printing method under normal ambient conditions. Conjugating the new back contact electrode technology with the traditional monolithic structure using the carbon counter electrode, we fabricated all TCO-less DSCs. These four-layer structured DSCs consist of a dye-adsorbed nanocrystalline TiO₂ film on a glass substrate, a porous Ti back contact layer, a ZrO₂ spacer layer, and a carbon counter electrode in a layered structure. Under AM 1.5G and 100mWcm⁻² simulated sunlight illumination, the four-layer structured DSCs with N719 dyes and I⁻/I₃⁻ redox electrolytes achieved PCEs up to 5.21%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dye%20solar%20cells" title="dye solar cells">dye solar cells</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TCO-less" title=" TCO-less"> TCO-less</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=back%20contact" title=" back contact"> back contact</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=printing" title=" printing"> printing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=porous%20Ti%20film" title=" porous Ti film"> porous Ti film</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155099/a-low-cost-dye-solar-cells-based-on-ordinary-glass-as-substrates" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155099.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">66</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">57</span> Comparison of Phenolic and Urushiol Contents of Different Parts of Rhus verniciflua and Their Antimicrobial Activity</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae%20Young%20Jang">Jae Young Jang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong%20Hoon%20Ahn"> Jong Hoon Ahn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae-Woong%20Lim"> Jae-Woong Lim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=So%20Young%20Kang"> So Young Kang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mi%20Kyeong%20Lee"> Mi Kyeong Lee </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Rhus verniciflua is commonly known as a lacquer tree in Korea. Stem barks of R. verniciflua have been used as an immunostimulator in traditional medicine. It contains phenolic compounds and is known for diverse biological activities such as antioxidant and antimicrobial activity. However, it also causes allergic dermatitis due to urushiols derivatives. For the development of active natural resources with less toxicity, the content of phenolic compounds and urushiols of different parts of R. verniciflua such as stem barks, lignum and leaves were quantitated by colorimetric assay and HPLC analysis. The urushiols content were the highest in stem barks, and followed by leaves. The lignum contained trace amount of urushiols. The phenolic contents, however, were the most abundant in lignum, and followed by leaves and stem barks. These results clear showed that the content of urushiols and phenolic differs depending on the parts of R. verniciflua. Antimicrobial activity of different parts of R. verniciflua against fish pathogenic bacteria was also investigated using Edwardsiella tarda. Lignum of R. verniciflua was the most effective in antimicrobial activity against E. tarda and phenolic constituents are suggested to be active constituents for activity. Taken together, phenolic compounds are responsible for antimicrobial activity of R. verniciflua. The lignum of R. verniciflua contains high content of phenolic compounds with less urushiols, which suggests efficient antimicrobial activity with less toxicity. Therefore, lignum of R. verniciflua are suggested as good sources for antimicrobial activity against fish bacterial diseases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=different%20parts" title="different parts">different parts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phenolic%20compounds" title=" phenolic compounds"> phenolic compounds</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rhus%20verniciflua" title=" Rhus verniciflua"> Rhus verniciflua</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urushiols" title=" urushiols "> urushiols </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56183/comparison-of-phenolic-and-urushiol-contents-of-different-parts-of-rhus-verniciflua-and-their-antimicrobial-activity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56183.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">319</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">56</span> Seismic Performance Evaluation of Diagrid Components</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Taejin%20Kim">Taejin Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heonwoo%20Lee"> Heonwoo Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Ho%20Kim"> Jong-Ho Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dongchul%20Lee"> Dongchul Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Recently, there have been various high-rise building projects which reflect unique inspiration from architects to their feature. And it is frequently found that some of these buildings have diagrid structural system. Diagrid system provides engineers many options for structural plan, since it has triangular module so it can form a number of complex shapes. Unlike braced frame systems, diagonal members in diagrid system resist gravity and horizontal loads simultaneously. Correspondingly, diagrid members take roles of both beams and columns, and it is expected that their ductile capacity may depend on the amount of gravity loads. However, not enough studies have been made for this issue so far, which means that there is demand of examination on the seismic behavior of diagrid members under large gravity loads. Therefore, in this study, the ductile capacity of diagrid members was evaluated through analytical and experimental method. Several cases that have different vertical load condition were set up for both approaches to consider the effect of initial compression force due to gravity load. Regarding the result, it was found that buckling in a diagonal member occurs at smaller drift angle when larger gravity load acts on the specimen, which also reduces the amount of energy dissipation. It means that axial stress in a diagonal member reaches critical buckling force early due to the combined axial force from not only horizontal load but also gravity load. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=buckling" title="buckling">buckling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diagrid" title=" diagrid"> diagrid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ductility" title=" ductility"> ductility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seismic%20performance" title=" seismic performance"> seismic performance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28601/seismic-performance-evaluation-of-diagrid-components" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28601.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">405</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">55</span> Cladding Technology for Metal-Hybrid Composites with Network-Structure</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ha-Guk%20Jeong">Ha-Guk Jeong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Beom%20Lee"> Jong-Beom Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cladding process is very typical technology for manufacturing composite materials by the hydrostatic extrusion. Because there is no friction between the metal and the container, it can be easily obtained in uniform flow during the deformation. The general manufacturing process for a metal-matrix composite in the solid state, mixing metal powders and ceramic powders with a suited volume ratio, prior to be compressed or extruded at the cold or hot condition in a can. Since through a plurality of unit processing steps of dispersing the materials having a large difference in their characteristics and physical mixing, the process is complicated and leads to non-uniform dispersion of ceramics. It is difficult and hard to reach a uniform ideal property in the coherence problems at the interface between the metal and the ceramic reinforcements. Metal hybrid composites, which presented in this report, are manufactured through the traditional plastic deformation processes like hydrostatic extrusion, caliber-rolling, and drawing. By the previous process, the realization of uniform macro and microstructure is surely possible. In this study, as a constituent material, aluminum, copper, and titanium have been used, according to the component ratio, excellent characteristics of each material were possible to produce a metal hybrid composite that appears to maximize. MgB₂ superconductor wire also fabricated via the same process. This can provide additional information in the absence of optical equipment. The purpose of this study is to estimate Direction of Arrival (DOA) based on Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) estimation of the acoustic source in the drone. The problem is that it is impossible to measure the clear target acoustic source because of the drone noise. To overcome this problem is to separate the drone noise and the target acoustic source using Blind Source Separation(BSS) based on Independent Component Analysis(ICA). ICA can be performed assuming that the drone noise and target acoustic source are independent and each signal has non-gaussianity. For maximized non-gaussianity each signal, we use Negentropy and Kurtosis based on probability theory. As a result, we can improve TDOA estimation and DOA estimation of the target source in the noisy environment. We simulated the performance of the DOA algorithm applying BSS algorithm, and demonstrated the simulation through experiment at the anechoic wind tunnel. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aeroacoustics" title="aeroacoustics">aeroacoustics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acoustic%20source%20detection" title=" acoustic source detection"> acoustic source detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time%20difference%20of%20arrival" title=" time difference of arrival"> time difference of arrival</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=direction%20of%20arrival" title=" direction of arrival"> direction of arrival</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blind%20source%20separation" title=" blind source separation"> blind source separation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=independent%20component%20analysis" title=" independent component analysis"> independent component analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drone" title=" drone"> drone</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94236/study-on-acoustic-source-detection-performance-improvement-of-microphone-array-installed-on-drones-using-blind-source-separation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94236.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">162</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">52</span> Investigation of Fire Damaged Concrete Using Nonlinear Resonance Vibration Method</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kang-Gyu%20Park">Kang-Gyu Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sun-Jong%20Park"> Sun-Jong Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hong%20Jae%20Yim"> Hong Jae Yim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyo-Gyung%20Kwak"> Hyo-Gyung Kwak</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper attempts to evaluate the effect of fire damage on concrete by using nonlinear resonance vibration method, one of the nonlinear nondestructive method. Concrete exhibits not only nonlinear stress-strain relation but also hysteresis and discrete memory effect which are contained in consolidated materials. Hysteretic materials typically show the linear resonance frequency shift. Also, the shift of resonance frequency is changed according to the degree of micro damage. The degree of the shift can be obtained through nonlinear resonance vibration method. Five exposure scenarios were considered in order to make different internal micro damage. Also, the effect of post-fire-curing on fire-damaged concrete was taken into account to conform the change in internal damage. Hysteretic non linearity parameter was obtained by amplitude-dependent resonance frequency shift after specific curing periods. In addition, splitting tensile strength was measured on each sample to characterize the variation of residual strength. Then, a correlation between the hysteretic non linearity parameter and residual strength was proposed from each test result. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20resonance%20vibration%20method" title="nonlinear resonance vibration method">nonlinear resonance vibration method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non%20linearity%20parameter" title=" non linearity parameter"> non linearity parameter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=splitting%20tensile%20strength" title=" splitting tensile strength"> splitting tensile strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micro%20damage" title=" micro damage"> micro damage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=post-fire-curing" title=" post-fire-curing"> post-fire-curing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fire%20damaged%20concrete" title=" fire damaged concrete"> fire damaged concrete</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17425/investigation-of-fire-damaged-concrete-using-nonlinear-resonance-vibration-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17425.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">269</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">51</span> A Fundamental Study on the Anchor Performance of Non-Surface Treated Multi CFRP Tendons</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Woo-tai%20Jung">Woo-tai Jung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-sup%20Park"> Jong-sup Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae-yoon%20Kang"> Jae-yoon Kang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moon-seoung%20Keum"> Moon-seoung Keum</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) is mainly used as reinforcing material for degraded structures owing to its advantages including its non-corrodibility, high strength, and lightweight properties. Recently, dedicated studies focused not only on its simple bonding but also on its tensioning. The tension necessary for prestressing requires the anchoring of multi-CFRP tendons with high capacity and the surface treatment of the CFRP tendons may also constitute an important issue according to the type of anchor. The wedge type, swage type or bonded type anchor can be used to anchor the CFRP tendon. The bonded type anchor presents the disadvantage to lengthen the length of the anchor due to the low bond strength of the CFRP tendon without surface treatment. This study intends to overcome this drawback through the application of a method enlarging the bond area at the end of the CFRP tendon. This method enlarges the bond area by splitting the end of the CFRP tendon along its length and can be applied when CFRP is produced by pultrusion. The application of this method shows that the mono-CFRP tendon and 3-multi CFRP tendon secured the anchor performance corresponding to the tensile performance of the CFRP tendon and that the 7-multi tendon secured anchor performance corresponding to 90% of the tensile strength due to the occurrence of buckling in the steel tube anchorage. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20fiber%20reinforced%20polymer%20%28CFRP%29" title="carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP)">carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tendon" title=" tendon"> tendon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anchor" title=" anchor"> anchor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tensile%20property" title=" tensile property"> tensile property</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bond%20strength" title=" bond strength"> bond strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1828/a-fundamental-study-on-the-anchor-performance-of-non-surface-treated-multi-cfrp-tendons" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1828.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">247</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">50</span> Characterization of Fatty Acid Glucose Esters as Os9BGlu31 Transglucosidase Substrates in Rice</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Juthamath%20Komvongsa">Juthamath Komvongsa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bancha%20Mahong"> Bancha Mahong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kannika%20Phasai"> Kannika Phasai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sukanya%20Luang"> Sukanya Luang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Seong%20Jeon"> Jong-Seong Jeon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=James%20Ketudat-Cairns"> James Ketudat-Cairns</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Os9BGlu31 is a rice transglucosidase that transfers glucosyl moieties to various acceptors such as carboxylic acids and alcohols, including phenolic acids and flavonoids, in vitro. The role of Os9BGlu31 transglucosidase in rice plant metabolism has not been reported to date. Methanolic extracts of rice bran and flag leaves were found to contain substrates to which Os9BGlu31 could transfer glucose from 4-nitrophenyl β -D-glucopyranoside donor. The semi-purified substrate from rice bran was found to contain oleic acid and linoleic acid and the pure fatty acids were found to act as acceptor substrates for Os9BGlu31 transglucosidase to form 1-O-acyl glucose esters. Os9BGlu31 showed higher activity with oleic acid (18:1) and linoleic acid (18:2) than stearic acid (18:0), and had both higher kcat and higher Km for linoleic than oleic acid in the presence of 8 mM 4NPGlc donor. This transglucosidase reaction is reversible, Os9bglu31 knockout rice lines of flag leaves were found to have higher amounts of fatty acid glucose esters than wild type control lines, these data conclude that fatty acid glucose esters act as glucosyl donor substrates for Os9BGlu31 transglucosidase in rice. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fatty%20acid" title="fatty acid">fatty acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fatty%20acid%20glucose%20ester" title=" fatty acid glucose ester"> fatty acid glucose ester</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transglucosidase" title=" transglucosidase"> transglucosidase</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rice%20flag%20leaf" title=" rice flag leaf"> rice flag leaf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=homologous%20knockout%20lines" title=" homologous knockout lines"> homologous knockout lines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tandam%20mass%20spectrometry" title=" tandam mass spectrometry"> tandam mass spectrometry</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42160/characterization-of-fatty-acid-glucose-esters-as-os9bglu31-transglucosidase-substrates-in-rice" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42160.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">366</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">49</span> Study on the Relationship between the Urban Geography and Urban Agglomeration to the Effects of Carbon Emissions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng-Shao%20Chen">Peng-Shao Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yen-Jong%20Chen"> Yen-Jong Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, global warming, the dramatic change in energy prices and the exhaustion of natural resources illustrated that energy-related topic cannot be ignored. Despite the relationship between the cities and CO₂ emissions has been extensively studied in recent years, little attention has been paid to differences in the geographical location of the city. However, the geographical climate has a great impact on lifestyle from city to city, such as the type of buildings, the major industry of the city, etc. Therefore, the paper instigates empirically the effects of kinds of urban factors and CO₂ emissions with consideration of the different geographic, climatic zones which cities are located. Using the regression model and a dataset of urban agglomeration in East Asia cities with over one million population, including 2005, 2010, and 2015 three years, the findings suggest that the impact of urban factors on CO₂ emissions vary with the latitude of the cities. Surprisingly, all kinds of urban factors, including the urban population, the share of GDP in service industry, per capita income, and others, have different level of impact on the cities locate in the tropical climate zone and temperate climate zone. The results of the study analyze the impact of different urban factors on CO₂ emissions in urban area with different geographical climate zones. These findings will be helpful for the formulation of relevant policies for urban planners and policy makers in different regions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20emissions" title="carbon emissions">carbon emissions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20agglomeration" title=" urban agglomeration"> urban agglomeration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20factor" title=" urban factor"> urban factor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20geography" title=" urban geography"> urban geography</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89576/study-on-the-relationship-between-the-urban-geography-and-urban-agglomeration-to-the-effects-of-carbon-emissions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89576.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">267</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">48</span> Mixed Matrix Membranes Based on [M₂(DOBDC)] (M = Mg, Co, Ni) and Polydimethylsiloxane for CO₂/N₂ Separation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyunuk%20Kim">Hyunuk Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yang%20No%20Yun"> Yang No Yun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Sohail"> Muhammad Sohail</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Ho%20Moon"> Jong-Ho Moon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young%20Cheol%20Park"> Young Cheol Park</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which are emerging absorbents assembled from metal ions and organic ligands, have attracted attention for their permanent porosity and design of tunable pore size. These microporous materials showed interesting properties for CO₂ storage and separation. In particular, MOFs with high surface area and open metal sites showed the remarkable adsorption capacity and selectivity for CO₂. [Mg₂ (DOBDC)] (DOBDC = 2,5-dioxidobenzene-1,4-dicarboxylate) (MOF-74 or CPO-27) is a well-known absorbent showing an exceptionally high CO₂ sorption capacity at low partial pressure and room temperature. In this work, we synthesized [M₂(DOBDC)(DMF)₂] (M = Mg, Co, Ni) and determined their single-crystal structures by X-ray crystallography. The removal of coordinated guest molecules generates Lewis acidic sites and showed high CO₂ adsorption affinity. Both CO₂ adsorption capacity and surface area are much higher than reported values in literature. To fabricate MMMs, microcrystalline [M₂ (DOBDC)(DMF)₂] was synthesized by microwave reaction and dispersed in PDMS solution. The MMMs with a various amount of [M₂ (DOBDC)(DMF) ₂] in PDMS were fabricated by a solution casting method. [M₂ (DOBDC)(DMF)₂]@PDMS membrane showed higher CO2 permeability and CO₂/N₂ selectivity than those of PDMS. Therefore, we believe that MMMs combining polymer and MOFs provide new materials for CO₂ separation technology. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal-organic%20frameworks" title="metal-organic frameworks">metal-organic frameworks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixed%20matrix%20membrane" title=" mixed matrix membrane"> mixed matrix membrane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CO2%2FN2%20separation" title=" CO2/N2 separation"> CO2/N2 separation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polydimethylsiloxane%20%28PDMS%29" title=" polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)"> polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72483/mixed-matrix-membranes-based-on-m2dobdc-m-mg-co-ni-and-polydimethylsiloxane-for-co2n2-separation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72483.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">206</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">47</span> Performance and Processing Evaluation of Solid Oxide Cells by Co-Sintering of GDC Buffer Layer and LSCF Air Electrode</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyun-Jong%20Choi">Hyun-Jong Choi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Minjun%20Kwak"> Minjun Kwak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Doo-Won%20Seo"> Doo-Won Seo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sang-Kuk%20Woo"> Sang-Kuk Woo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sun-Dong%20Kim"> Sun-Dong Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Solid Oxide Cell(SOC) systems can contribute to the transition to the hydrogen society by utilized as a power and hydrogen generator by the electrochemical reaction with high efficiency at high operation temperature (>750 ℃). La1-xSrxCo1-yFeyO3, which is an air electrode, is occurred stability degradations due to reaction and delamination with yittria stabilized zirconia(YSZ) electrolyte in a water electrolysis mode. To complement this phenomenon SOCs need gadolinium doped ceria(GDC) buffer layer between electrolyte and air electrode. However, GDC buffer layer requires a high sintering temperature and it causes a reaction with YSZ electrolyte. This study carried out low temperature sintering of GDC layer by applying Cu-oxide as a sintering aid. The effect of a copper additive as a sintering aid to lower the sintering temperature for the construction of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) was investigated. GDC buffer layer with 0.25-10 mol% CuO sintering aid was prepared by reacting GDC power and copper nitrate solution followed by heating at 600 ℃. The sintering of CuO-added GDC powder was optimized by investigating linear shrinkage, microstructure, grain size, ionic conductivity, and activation energy of CuO-GDC electrolytes at temperatures ranging from 1100 to 1400 ℃. The sintering temperature of the CuO-GDC electrolyte decreases from 1400 ℃ to 1100 ℃ by adding the CuO sintering aid. The ionic conductivity of the CuO-GDC electrolyte shows a maximum value at 0.5 mol% of CuO. However, the addition of CuO has no significant effects on the activation energy of GDC electrolyte. GDC-LSCF layers were co-sintering at 1050 and 1100 ℃ and button cell tests were carried out at 750 ℃. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Co-Sintering" title="Co-Sintering">Co-Sintering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GDC-LSCF" title=" GDC-LSCF"> GDC-LSCF</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sintering%20Aid" title=" Sintering Aid"> Sintering Aid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solid%20Oxide%20Cells" title=" solid Oxide Cells"> solid Oxide Cells</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66228/performance-and-processing-evaluation-of-solid-oxide-cells-by-co-sintering-of-gdc-buffer-layer-and-lscf-air-electrode" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66228.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">245</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">46</span> The Changing Trend of Collaboration Patterns in the Social Sciences: Institutional Influences on Academic Research in Korea, 2013-2016</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ho-Dae%20Chong">Ho-Dae Chong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Kil%20Kim"> Jong-Kil Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Collaborative research has become more prevalent and important across disciplines because it stimulates innovation and interaction between scholars. Seeing as existing studies relatively disregarded the institutional conditions triggering collaborative research, this work aims to analyze the changing trend in collaborative work patterns among Korean social scientists. The focus of this research is the performance of social scientists who received research grants through the government’s Social Science Korea (SSK) program. Using quantitative statistical methods, collaborative research patterns in a total of 2,354 papers published under the umbrella of the SSK program in peer-reviewed scholarly journals from 2013 to 2016 were examined to identify changing trends and triggering factors in collaborative research. A notable finding is that the share of collaborative research is overwhelmingly higher than that of individual research. In particular, levels of collaborative research surpassed 70%, increasing much quicker compared to other research done in the social sciences. Additionally, the most common composition of collaborative research was for two or three researchers to conduct joint research as coauthors, and this proportion has also increased steadily. Finally, a strong association between international journals and co-authorship patterns was found for the papers published by SSK program researchers from 2013 to 2016. The SSK program can be seen as the driving force behind collaboration between social scientists. Its emphasis on competition through a merit-based financial support system along with a rigorous evaluation process seems to have influenced researchers to cooperate with those who have similar research interests. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coauthorship" title="coauthorship">coauthorship</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collaboration" title=" collaboration"> collaboration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=competition" title=" competition"> competition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cooperation" title=" cooperation"> cooperation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Social%20Science%20Korea" title=" Social Science Korea"> Social Science Korea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=policy" title=" policy"> policy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77138/the-changing-trend-of-collaboration-patterns-in-the-social-sciences-institutional-influences-on-academic-research-in-korea-2013-2016" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77138.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">229</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">45</span> Herbal Medicinal Materials for Health/Functional Foods in Korea</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang-Hwan%20Oh">Chang-Hwan Oh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young-Jong%20Lee"> Young-Jong Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In April, 2015, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s announcement that only 10 of the 207 products that list Cynanchum Wilfordii Radix among their ingredients were confirmed to actually contain “iyeobupiso” the counterfeit version of the “baeksuo” raised a fog to consumers who purchased health/functional foods supposedly containing the herbal medicinal material, “baeksuo” in Korean. We name it as a Joint Replenishment and Heterogeneous Vehicle Routing Problem with Cyclical Schedule and formulate it as a non-linear mixed-integer linear programming problem which simultaneously determines the length of the planning cycle (PC), the length of the replenishment cycle and the dates of replenishment for each customer and the vehicle routes of each day within PC, such that the average daily operation cost within PC, including inventory holding cost, setup cost, transportation cost, and overtime labor cost, is minimized. A solution method based on genetic algorithm, embedded with an encoding and decoding mechanism and local search operators, is then proposed, and the hash function is adopted to avoid repetitive fitness evaluation for identical solutions. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed solution method can effectively solve the problem under different lengths of PC and number of customers. The method is also shown to be effective in determining whether the company should expand the storage capacity of a customer whose demand increases. Sensitivity analysis of the vehicle fleet composition shows that deploying a mixed fleet can reduce the daily operating cost. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclic%20inventory%20routing%20problem" title="cyclic inventory routing problem">cyclic inventory routing problem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=joint%20replenishment" title=" joint replenishment"> joint replenishment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heterogeneous%20vehicle" title=" heterogeneous vehicle"> heterogeneous vehicle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=genetic%20algorithm" title=" genetic algorithm"> genetic algorithm</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159424/joint-replenishment-and-heterogeneous-vehicle-routing-problem-with-cyclical-schedule" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159424.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">87</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">42</span> Robust Design of a Ball Joint Considering Uncertainties</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bong-Su%20Sin">Bong-Su Sin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Kyu%20Kim"> Jong-Kyu Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Se-Il%20Song"> Se-Il Song</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kwon-Hee%20Lee"> Kwon-Hee Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An automobile ball joint is a pivoting element used to allow rotational motion between the parts of the steering and suspension system. And it plays a role in smooth transmission of steering movement, also reduction in impact from the road surface. A ball joint is under various repeated loadings that may cause cracks and abrasion. This damages lead to safety problems of a car, as well as reducing the comfort of the driver's ride, and raise questions about the ball joint procedure and the whole durability of the suspension system. Accordingly, it is necessary to ensure the high durability and reliability of a ball joint. The structural responses of stiffness and pull-out strength were then calculated to check if the design satisfies the related requirements. The analysis was sequentially performed, following the caulking process. In this process, the deformation and stress results obtained from the analysis were saved. Sequential analysis has a strong advantage, in that it can be analyzed by considering the deformed shape and residual stress. The pull-out strength means the required force to pull the ball stud out from the ball joint assembly. The low pull-out strength can deteriorate the structural stability and safety performances. In this study, two design variables and two noise factors were set up. Two design variables were the diameter of a stud and the angle of a socket. And two noise factors were defined as the uncertainties of Young's modulus and yield stress of a seat. The DOE comprises 81 cases using these conditions. Robust design of a ball joint was performed using the DOE. The pull-out strength was generated from the uncertainties in the design variables and the design parameters. The purpose of robust design is to find the design with target response and smallest variation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ball%20joint" title="ball joint">ball joint</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pull-out%20strength" title=" pull-out strength"> pull-out strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=robust%20design" title=" robust design"> robust design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=design%20of%20experiments" title=" design of experiments"> design of experiments</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12084/robust-design-of-a-ball-joint-considering-uncertainties" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12084.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">422</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">41</span> Patient Care Needs Assessment: An Evidence-Based Process to Inform Quality Care and Decision Making</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wynne%20De%20Jong">Wynne De Jong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Robert%20Miller"> Robert Miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ross%20Riggs"> Ross Riggs</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Beyond the number of nurses providing care for patients, having nurses with the right skills, experience and education is essential to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. Research studies continue to link nurse staffing and skill mix with nurse-sensitive patient outcomes; numerous studies clearly show that superior patient outcomes are associated with higher levels of regulated staff. Due to the limited number of tools and processes available to assist nurse leaders with staffing models of care, nurse leaders are constantly faced with the ongoing challenge to ensure their staffing models of care best suit their patient population. In 2009, several hospitals in Ontario, Canada participated in a research study to develop and evaluate an RN/RPN utilization toolkit. The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a toolkit for Registered Nurses/Registered Practical Nurses Staff mix decision-making based on the College of Nurses of Ontario, Canada practice standards for the utilization of RNs and RPNs. This paper will highlight how an organization has further developed the Patient Care Needs Assessment (PCNA) questionnaire, a major component of the toolkit. Moreover, it will demonstrate how it has utilized the information from PCNA to clearly identify patient and family care needs, thus providing evidence-based results to assist leaders with matching the best staffing skill mix to their patients. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nurse%20staffing%20models%20of%20care" title="nurse staffing models of care">nurse staffing models of care</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=skill%20mix" title=" skill mix"> skill mix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nursing%20health%20human%20resources" title=" nursing health human resources"> nursing health human resources</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=patient%20safety" title=" patient safety"> patient safety</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46591/patient-care-needs-assessment-an-evidence-based-process-to-inform-quality-care-and-decision-making" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46591.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">315</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">40</span> The Use of Surveys to Combat Fake News in Media Literacy Education</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jaejun%20Jong">Jaejun Jong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Fake news has recently become a serious international problem. Therefore, researchers and policymakers worldwide have sought to understand fake news and develop strategies to combat it. This study consists of two primary parts: (1) a literature review of how surveys were used to understand fake news and identify problems caused by fake news, and (2) a discussion of how surveys were used to fight back against fake news in educational settings. This second section specifically analyzes surveys used to evaluate a South Korean elementary school program designed to improve students’ metacognition and critical thinking. This section seeks to identify potential problems that may occur in the elementary school setting. The literature review shows that surveys can help people to understand fake news based on its traits rather than its definition due to the lack of agreement on the definition of fake news. The literature review also shows that people are not good at identifying fake news or evaluating their own ability to identify fake news; indeed, they are more likely to share information that aligns with their previous beliefs. In addition, the elementary school survey data shows that there may be substantial errors in the program evaluation process, likely caused by processing errors or the survey procedure, though the exact cause is not specified. Such a significant error in evaluating the effects of the educational program prevents teachers from making proper decisions and accurately evaluating the program. Therefore, identifying the source of such errors would improve the overall quality of education, which would benefit both teachers and students. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=critical%20thinking" title="critical thinking">critical thinking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elementary%20education" title=" elementary education"> elementary education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=program%20evaluation" title=" program evaluation"> program evaluation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=survey" title=" survey"> survey</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151374/the-use-of-surveys-to-combat-fake-news-in-media-literacy-education" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151374.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">103</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">39</span> The Study of Stable Isotopes (18O, 2H & 13C) in Kardeh River and Dam Reservoir, North-Eastern Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hossein%20Mohammadzadeh">Hossein Mohammadzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mojtaba%20Heydarizad"> Mojtaba Heydarizad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Among various water resources, the surface water has a dominant role in providing water supply in the arid and semi-arid region of Iran. Andarokh-Kardeh basin is located in 50 km from Mashhad city - the second biggest city of Iran (NE of Iran), draining by Kardeh river which provides a significant portion of potable and irrigation water needs for Mashhad. The stable isotopes (18O, 2H,13C-DIC, and 13C-DOC), as reliable and precious water fingerprints, have been measured in Kardeh river (Kharket, Mareshk, Jong, All and Kardeh stations) and in Kardeh dam reservoirs (at five different sites S1 to S5) during March to June 2011 and June 2012. On δ18O vs. δ2H diagram, the river samples were plotted between Global and Eastern Mediterranean Meteoric Water lines (GMWL and EMMWL) which demonstrate that various moisture sources are providing humidity for precipitation events in this area. The enriched δ18O and δ2H values (-6.5 ‰ and -44.5 ‰ VSMOW) of Kardeh dam reservoir are compared to Kardeh river (-8.6‰and-54.4‰), and its deviation from Mashhad meteoric water line (MMWL- δ2H=7.16δ18O+11.22) is due to evaporation from the open surface water body. The enriched value of δ 13C-DIC and high amount of DIC values (-7.9 ‰ VPDB and 57.23 ppm) in the river and Kardeh dam reservoir (-7.3 ‰ VPDB and 55.53 ppm) is due to dissolution of Mozdooran Carbonate Formation lithology (Jm1 to Jm3 units) (contains enriched δ13C DIC values of 9.2‰ to 27.7‰ VPDB) in the region. Because of the domination of C3 vegetations in Andarokh_Kardeh basin, the δ13C-DOC isotope of the river (-28.4‰ VPDB) and dam reservoir (-32.3‰ VPDB) demonstrate depleted values. Higher DOC concentration in dam reservoir (2.57 ppm) compared to the river (0.72 ppm) is due to more biologogical activities and organic matters in dam reservoir. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dam%20reservoir" title="Dam reservoir">Dam reservoir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iran" title=" Iran"> Iran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kardeh%20river" title=" Kardeh river"> Kardeh river</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khorasan%20razavi" title=" Khorasan razavi"> Khorasan razavi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stable%20isotopes" title=" Stable isotopes"> Stable isotopes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73645/the-study-of-stable-isotopes-18o-2h-13c-in-kardeh-river-and-dam-reservoir-north-eastern-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73645.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">270</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">38</span> Roll Forming Process and Die Design for a Large Size Square Tube</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jinn-Jong%20Sheu">Jinn-Jong Sheu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cang-Fu%20Liang"> Cang-Fu Liang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Hsien%20Yu"> Cheng-Hsien Yu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposed the cold roll forming process and the die design methods for a 400mm by 400 mm square tube with 16 mm in thickness. The tubular blank made by cold roll forming is 508mm in diameter. The square tube roll forming process was designed considering the layout of rolls and the compression ratio distribution for each stand. The final tube corner radius and the edge straightness in the front end of the tube are to be controlled according to the tube specification. A five-stand forming design using four rolls at each stand was proposed to establish the base reference of square tube roll forming quality. Different numbers of pass and roll designs were proposed and compared to the base design in order to find the feasibility of increase pass number to improve the square tube quality. The proposed roll forming processes were simulated using FEM analysis. The thickness variations of the corner and the edge areas were examined. The maximum loads and the torques of each stand were calculated to study the power consumption of the roll forming machine. The simulation results showed the square tube thickness variations and concavity of the edge are acceptable with the JIS tube specifications for the base design. But the maximum loads and torques are very high. By changing the layout and the number of the rolls were able to obtain better tube geometry and decrease the maximum load and torque of each stand. This paper had shown the feasibility of designing the roll forming process and the layout of dies using FEM simulation. The obtained information is helpful to the roll forming machine design for a large size square tube making. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
