for the first<MG4413> heaven<MG3772> and the first<MG4413> earth<MG1093> passed<MG565> away<MG565>, and there is no<MG3756> longer<MG2089> <i>any</i> sea<MG2281>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>And I saw<MG3708> the holy<MG40> city<MG4172>, new<MG2537> Jerusalem<MG2419>, coming<MG2597> down<MG2597> out of heaven<MG3772> from God<MG2316>, prepared<MG2090> as a bride<MG3565> adorned<MG2885> for her husband<MG435>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And I heard<MG191> a loud<MG3173> voice<MG5456> from the throne<MG2362>, saying<MG3004>, “Behold<MG2400>, the tabernacle<MG4633> of God<MG2316> is among<MG3326> the people<MG444>, and He will dwell<MG4637> among<MG3326> them, and they shall be His <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>people<MG2992>, and God<MG2316> Himself<MG846> will be among<MG3326> them<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>and He will wipe<MG1813> away<MG1813> every<MG3956> tear<MG1144> from their eyes<MG3788>; and there will no<MG3756> longer<MG2089> be <i>any</i> death<MG2288>; there will no<MG3756> longer<MG2089> be <i>any</i> mourning<MG3997>, or<MG3777> crying<MG2906>, or<MG3777> pain<MG4192>; the first<MG4413> things<MG4413> have passed<MG565> away<MG565>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And He who sits<MG2521> on the throne<MG2362> said<MG3004>, “Behold<MG2400>, I am making<MG4160> all<MG3956> things<MG3956> new<MG2537>.” And He *said<MG3004>, “Write<MG1125>, for these<MG3778> words<MG3056> are faithful<MG4103> and true<MG228>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Then<MG2532> He said<MG3004> to me, “<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>It is done<MG1096>. I am the Alpha<MG256a> and the Omega<MG5598>, the beginning<MG746> and the end<MG5056>. I will give<MG1325> <i>water</i> to the one who thirsts<MG1372> from the spring<MG4077> of the water<MG5204> of life<MG2222>, without<MG1432> cost<MG1432>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>The one who overcomes<MG3528> will inherit<MG2816> these<MG3778> things<MG3778>, and I will be his God<MG2316> and he will be My son<MG5207>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But for the cowardly<MG1169>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>unbelieving<MG571>, and abominable<MG948>, and murderers<MG5406>, and sexually<MG4205> immoral<MG4205> persons<MG4205>, and sorcerers<MG5333>, and idolaters<MG1496>, and all<MG3956> liars<MG5571>, their part<MG3313> <i>will be</i> in the lake<MG3041> that burns<MG2545> with fire<MG4442> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>brimstone<MG2303>, which<MG3739> is the second<MG1208> death<MG2288>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Then<MG2532> one<MG1520> of the seven<MG2033> angels<MG32a> who had<MG2192> the seven<MG2033> bowls<MG5357>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>full<MG1073> of the seven<MG2033> last<MG2078> plagues<MG4127>, came<MG2064> and spoke<MG2980> with me, saying<MG3004>, “Come<MG1204> here<MG1204>, I will show<MG1166> you the bride<MG3565>, the wife<MG1135> of the Lamb<MG721b>.” <p class="hdg">The New Jerusalem</p><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And he carried<MG667> me away<MG667> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>in <i>the</i> Spirit<MG4151> to a great<MG3173> and high<MG5308> mountain<MG3735>, and showed<MG1166> me the holy<MG40> city<MG4172>, Jerusalem<MG2419>, coming<MG2597> down<MG2597> out of heaven<MG3772> from God<MG2316>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>having<MG2192> the glory<MG1391> of God<MG2316>. Her <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>brilliance<MG5458> was like<MG3664> a very<MG5093> valuable<MG5093> stone<MG3037>, like a stone<MG3037> of crystal-clear<MG2929> jasper<MG2393>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>It had<MG2192> a great<MG3173> and high<MG5308> wall<MG5038>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>with twelve<MG1427> gates<MG4440>, and at the gates<MG4440> twelve<MG1427> angels<MG32a>; and names<MG3686> <i>were</i> written<MG1924> on<MG1924> <i>the gates,</i> which<MG3739> are <i>the names</i> of the twelve<MG1427> tribes<MG5443> of the sons<MG5207> of Israel<MG2474>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><i>There were</i> three<MG5140> gates<MG4440> on the east<MG395>, three<MG5140> gates<MG4440> on the north<MG1005>, three<MG5140> gates<MG4440> on the south<MG3558>, and three<MG5140> gates<MG4440> on the west<MG1424>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And the wall<MG5038> of the city<MG4172> had<MG2192> twelve<MG1427> foundation<MG2310b> stones<MG2310b>, and on them <i>were the</i> twelve<MG1427> names<MG3686> of the twelve<MG1427> apostles<MG652> of the Lamb<MG721b>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>The one who spoke<MG2980> with me had<MG2192> a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>gold<MG5552> measuring<MG2563> rod<MG2563> to measure<MG3354> the city<MG4172>, its gates<MG4440>, and its wall<MG5038>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>The city<MG4172> is laid<MG2749> out<MG2749> as a square<MG5068b>, and its length<MG3372> is as great<MG3745> as the width<MG4114>; and he measured<MG3354> the city<MG4172> with the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>rod<MG2563>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>twelve thousand stadia<MG4712>; its length<MG3372>, width<MG4114>, and height<MG5311> are equal<MG2470>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And he measured<MG3354> its wall<MG5038>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>144 cubits<MG4083>, <i>by</i> human<MG444> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>measurements<MG3358>, which<MG3739> are <i>also</i> angelic<MG32a> <i>measurements.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>The material<MG1746b> of the wall<MG5038> was jasper<MG2393>; and the city<MG4172> was pure<MG2513> gold<MG5553>, like<MG3664> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>clear<MG2513> glass<MG5194>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>The foundation<MG2310b> stones<MG2310b> of the city<MG4172> wall<MG5038> were decorated<MG2885> with every<MG3956> kind<MG3956> of precious<MG5093> stone<MG3037>. The first<MG4413> foundation<MG2310b> stone<MG2310b> was jasper<MG2393>; the second<MG1208>, sapphire<MG4552>; the third<MG5154>, chalcedony<MG5472>; the fourth<MG5067a>, emerald<MG4665>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>the fifth<MG3991>, sardonyx<MG4557>; the sixth<MG1623>, sardius<MG4556>; the seventh<MG1442>, chrysolite<MG5555>; the eighth<MG3590>, beryl<MG969>; the ninth<MG1729a>, topaz<MG5116>; the tenth<MG1182>, chrysoprase<MG5556>; the eleventh<MG1734>, jacinth<MG5192>; the twelfth<MG1428>, amethyst<MG271>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/21-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And the twelve<MG1427> gates<MG4440> were twelve<MG1427> pearls<MG3135>; each<MG1538> one<MG1520> of the gates<MG4440> was a single<MG1520> pearl<MG3135>.
