But the Promised Land is more than just a place—it’s a sign of God’s faithfulness to His people. What exactly does the Bible say about this land? And did God give it to Israel forever?</p> <h2>God's Promise to Abraham</h2> <p>The promise of a land for God’s people began with Abraham, a man chosen by God to be <a href="https://www.beliefnet.com/faiths/christianity/why-did-god-choose-abraham-to-be-the-father-of-many-nations.aspx">the father of a great nation</a>. In Genesis 12:1-3, God tells Abraham to leave his homeland and promises to make him into a great nation, bless him, and make his name great. Later, in Genesis 17:8, God says, "The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you." In Jeremiah 31:35-37, God reassures Israel of His enduring commitment, saying that as long as the natural order exists, He will not reject the descendants of Israel. This underscores the everlasting nature of His promise, even when Israel faced discipline for disobedience.</p> <h2>Promised Land in the New Testament</h2> <p>The New Testament often shifts the focus from physical territory to spiritual fulfillment. In passages like Hebrews 11:8-10, Abraham's faith is highlighted as he looked forward to a "city with foundations," a heavenly inheritance.
