</p></header><div class="entry-content" itemprop="text"><p>Charles Lewis is a professor of journalism at the American University School of Communication in Washington, D.C., and the founding executive editor of the Investigative Reporting Workshop. The ICIJ published <a href="https://panamapapers.icij.org/">the Panama Papers</a> — the largest collaboration in the history of journalism, involving a leaked cache of 11.5 million financial records, analyzed and reported by more than 370 journalists in 76 countries and published in over 100 newspapers around the world.</p> <p>Lewis is the author of “935 Lies: The Future of Truth and the Decline of America’s Moral Integrity” (2014), and co-author of five Center books: “The Buying of the President” (1996), “The Buying of the Congress” (1998), “The Buying of the President” (2000), “The Cheating of America” (2001), and “The Buying of the President” (2004), a New York Times bestseller.</p> <p>Lewis was awarded a prestigious MacArthur Fellowship in 1998, and in 2004, he was given the PEN USA First Amendment award “for expanding the reach of investigative journalism, for his courage in going after a story regardless of whose toes he steps on, and for boldly exercising his freedom of speech and freedom of the press.” In 2009, the Encyclopedia of Journalism called him “one of the 30 most notable investigative reporters in the U.S. since World War I.” In 2014, the Wall Street Journal observed, “With the founding of the Center for Public Integrity in the 1980s, Charles Lewis probably did more than anyone else to launch institutional nonprofit journalism in America.”</p> <p>In 2018, he was awarded the<a href="https://nieman.harvard.edu/news/2018/04/veteran-investigative-reporter-charles-lewis-to-receive-i-f-stone-medal-for-journalistic-independence/"> I.F. He has held a number of positions spanning three different camps. In 2019 Eric was selected to be a National Camping School Course Director.</p> <h3>Avery Tarwater, Camp Bowman Director</h3> <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5028" src="/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/BOW_CD22_02-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" srcset="https://weownadventure.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/BOW_CD22_02-150x150.jpg 150w, https://weownadventure.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/BOW_CD22_02-300x300.jpg 300w, https://weownadventure.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/BOW_CD22_02.jpg 400w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" />Avery first came to Goshen in 2009 as a cub, and Bowman as a Scout in 2011. Avery joined staff as a CIT in 2014, and has lived and worked 9 summers at Camp Bowman. They’ve filled positions in almost every area around Camp, including Shooting sports, Bowman Vets, Aquatics, and Scoutcraft before becoming an Area Director in 2017 where they’d go on to run Bowman’s Handicraft, Scoutcraft, and Aquatics areas, as well as founding and Directing Bowman’s Culture Craft area in 2018. Avery’s humbled by the opportunity to represent the best staff in Bowman’s history, eager to welcome scouts and venturers new and old. When not at Camp, Avery works and goes to school in Baltimore, Maryland.</p> <h3>Talbot Taylor, Camp Marriott Director</h3> <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5029" src="/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/MAR_CD21_01-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" srcset="https://weownadventure.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/MAR_CD21_01-150x150.jpg 150w, https://weownadventure.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/MAR_CD21_01-300x300.jpg 300w, https://weownadventure.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/MAR_CD21_01.jpg 400w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" />This will be Talbot’s seventh summer working at Goshen Scout Reservation and second year as the Camp Director at Marriott. He has been a lifelong scouter having been involved in Cub Scouts and later Scouts BSA where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout while camping at Goshen in the summers. Outside of Camp Marriott, Talbot is completing his B.S. in Computer Engineering at Boston University where he also assists in research on campus. During his time at camp Tom has worked in Ecology and Scoutcraft and was previously the Bowman Program Director. He has also served on the National Camping School Ecology staff. Tom lives in Maryland and is an avid birder. Tom’s favorite Goshen memory is the Astronomy merit badge that he took as a camper; the group went on an Astronomy Hike which was the first time he saw the Milky Way galaxy and a lifelong interest in astronomy was set in motion. Since Richard’s first Summer in 2011 he has worked in various positions at camp, learning what it means to be part of the Ross Staff. This will be Richard’s twelfth Summer working at Ross and third Summer as Camp Director. When Richard is not at camp he attends Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and is studying for a Bachelors in Mathematics with a Minor in Environmental Science. Morin is vice president of Defense Systems Operations in the Defense Systems Group at The Aerospace Corporation. He leads Aerospace’s technical support to the senior-most levels of the Department of Defense and Department of the Air Force. He also served for a year as acting under secretary of the Air Force, where he led the Air Force Space Board and the Air Force Council.</p> <p>Before moving to the Pentagon, Morin was lead analyst for defense, intelligence, and foreign affairs on the professional staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget.</p> <p>In addition to his role at Aerospace, Morin is an adjunct professor of international relations at Georgetown University.</p> <p>In scouting Mr. Morin was a former Den Leader in Pack 98 of Washington DC (while also serving as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force!) and is currently an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 98 as well as an Assistant Cubmaster in Pack 454 in the Baltimore Area Council.</p> <p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Congratulations to Jamie and his fellow 2022 NOESA Honorees! In 2016, the International Trademark Association (INTA) asked him to serve a two-year stint as chair of the association’s U.S. Trademark Office Practices Committee, working directly with the U.S. Commissioner of Trademarks and other top-level staff at the USPTO. He previously served as chair of the INTA’s U.S. Legislation Committee, where he helped craft the Federal Anti-Cyber Piracy Act and the Federal Trademark Dilution statute. He currently serves on the INTA Internet Committee, focusing on data privacy issues. Other association and volunteer work include past service as chair of the Trademark Division of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Intellectual Property Law Section and as a member of the Section Counsel, membership on the INTA’s North American Advisory Council, Amicus Committee and Emerging Issues Committees, as well as leadership roles with the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) and the Intellectual Property Sections of the District of Columbia and Virginia Bars.</p> <p>In addition to professional volunteer work, Mr. Brooke is Scoutmaster of Troop 128 in McLean, and previously served as Cubmaster of Pack 665. He has also served on the Executive Board of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Other volunteer service include tenure on the Vestry of his Church and involvement as member and officer of a number of civic groups in Fairfax and Arlington Counties.</p> <p>Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Brooke worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., as a legislative assistant to the late Sen.
