A fotografia mostra o telescópio refletor Cassegrain de 0,6 metros, que foi instalado em 1996.O brilhante raio laser amarelo que parece varrer o céu nesta imagem de longa exposição, é a unidade de estrela guia laser Wendelstein do ESO, que foi testada em Allgäu. É uma versão menor da estrela guia laser que foi instalada no Very Large Telescope, no Paranal, Chile.Uma estrela guia laser é usada para criar um ponto brilhante no céu, o qual pode ser utilizado como uma estrela artificial de referência, permitindo aos astrônomos medir como é que as estrelas reais se desfocam ou piscam, tal como são vistas normalmente a partir do solo. Estas medições são depois utilizadas para corrigir este efeito, permitindo assim obter imagens muito mais nítidas num processo conhecido por ...</div> </div> <div class="news-readmore">Leia mais</div> </div> <!-- news-wrapper --> </a> </div> <div class="col-md-3 col-sm-6 col-xs-12"> <a href="/web/20220302151912/https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw1434a/"> <div class="news-wrapper"> <div class="news-image"> <img class="img-responsive" src="https://web.archive.org/web/20220302151912im_/https://cdn.eso.org/images/thumb350x/potw1434a.jpg"> </div> <div class="news-description"> <div class="news-id">potw1434-pt-br — Foto da Semana</div> <div class="news-title">Rastros de estrelas no deserto</div> <div class="news-teaser"><strong>25 de Agosto de 2014</strong>: No deserto do Atacama no Chile chove muito raramente. Apenas uma vez a cada vários anos é que chuva ou neve caem de forma significativa no Observatório de La Silla do ESO, geralmente coincidindo com um evento climático anormalmente quente, tal como o fenômeno do El Niño. Este deserto é o mais seco do planeta, o que o torna num lugar fantástico para observar o céu noturno. Embora haja muito pouca chuva, alguns truques fotográficos podem fazer com que as estrelas pareçam chuva a cair nas montanhas circundantes, tal como se vê nesta imagem obtida a 21 de maio de 2013 por Diana Juncher, uma estudante de doutoramento em astronomia no Instituto Niels Bohr, na Dinamarca. Diana esteve em La Silla durante duas semanas em maio de 2013, a observar exoplanetas na direção do centro da nossa Galáxia, no âmbito do seu trabalho de investigação. Condições secas e áridas ajudam os astrônomos a evitar os problemas comuns das observação como a turbulência atmosférica, a poluição luminosa, a umidade e (na maioria das vezes) as nuvens, permitindo-lhe ter uma vista clara do cosmos. Mesmo neste dia raro com nuvens que a imagem mostra, o céu ficou limpo ao anoitecer e as observações tiveram lugar como de costume.Os telescópios que estão instalados em La Silla - incluindo dois principais operados pelo ESO: o telescópio de 3,6 metros do ESO e o New Technology Telescope (NTT) - encontram-se equipados com ...</div> </div> <div class="news-readmore">Leia mais</div> </div> <!-- news-wrapper --> </a> </div> </div> <div class="row statusbar"><div class="col-md-3"> Mostrar 1 até 20 de 52 </div><div class="col-md-6"><div class="text-center"><ul class="pagination"><li class="active"><a href="/web/20220302151912/https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw/archive/year/2014/list/1/">1</a></li><li><a href="/web/20220302151912/https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw/archive/year/2014/list/2/">2</a></li><li><a href="/web/20220302151912/https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw/archive/year/2014/list/3/">3</a></li></ul></div></div><div class="col-md-3 prev-next"><a href="/web/20220302151912/https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw/archive/year/2014/list/2/">Próximo</a></div></div><div class="row"><div class="col-md-12"></div></div> <div class="copyright"> <a href="/web/20220302151912/https://www.eso.org/public/outreach/copyright/">Usage of ESO Images, Videos, Web texts and Music</a><br/> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <!-- #body --> <div class="row footernote"> <div class="col-xs-12 col-md-3"> <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220302151912/mailto:information@eso.org">Envie-nos os seus comentários!</a> </div> <div class="col-xs-12 col-md-3"> <a href="/web/20220302151912/https://www.eso.org/public/outreach/newsletters/esonews/">Subscribe to receive news from ESO in your language</a> </div> <div class="col-xs-12 col-md-3"> <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220302151912/https://www.cdn77.com/">Accelerated by CDN77</a> </div> <div class="col-xs-12 col-md-3"> <a href="/web/20220302151912/https://www.eso.org/public/about-eso/privacy/">Termos e Condições</a> </div> </div> <link href="/web/20220302151912cs_/https://www.eso.org/public/archives/djp/css/extras.166b25c68b97.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> <script type="text/javascript">var MEDIA_URL = "/public/archives/"</script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/web/20220302151912js_/https://www.eso.org/public/archives/djp/js/main.6ae27c5f7b90.js" charset="utf-8"></script> </div> <!-- content --> <div id="social-share" class="hidden-print"> <div class="link facebook" data-toggle="tooltip" data-placement="right" title="Share on Facebook"> <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220302151912/https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw/archive/year/2014/" target="_blank"><i class="fa fa-facebook" aria-hidden="true"></i></a> </div> <div class="link twitter" data-toggle="tooltip" data-placement="right" title="Share on Twitter"> <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220302151912/http://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw/archive/year/2014/&amp;text=&amp;via=ESO" target="_blank"><i class="fa fa-twitter" aria-hidden="true"></i></a> </div> <div class="link pinterest" data-toggle="tooltip" data-placement="right" title="Share on Pinterest"> <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220302151912/http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw/archive/year/2014/&amp;media=&amp;description=" target="_blank"><i class="fa fa-pinterest" aria-hidden="true"></i></a> </div> <div class="link print" data-toggle="tooltip" data-placement="right" title="Print"> <a href="javascript:window.print()" target="_blank"><i class="fa fa-print" aria-hidden="true"></i></a> </div> <div class="link email" data-toggle="tooltip" data-placement="right" title="Share by email"> <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220302151912/mailto:%20?subject=ESO — Foto da Semana 2014&amp;body=https://www.eso.org/public/brazil/images/potw/archive/year/2014/" target="_blank"><i class="fa fa-envelope-o" aria-hidden="true"></i></a> </div> </div> <script> $('[data-toggle="tooltip"]').tooltip(); </script> <input type="hidden" name="csrfmiddlewaretoken" value="0cL8zhGOhJLN6HUI40LZR0NF1GCsqw3IEr36kNM0BsNzydEm5wNgc4sdl4zl86sU"/> </body> </html> <!-- FILE ARCHIVED ON 15:19:12 Mar 02, 2022 AND RETRIEVED FROM THE INTERNET ARCHIVE ON 14:22:05 Nov 29, 2024.
