This is done by specialist agencies that usually work closely with national police forces and Internet Service Providers to locate and remove such material, and, where possible, to prosecute the offender(s). The international nature of the internet makes enforcement of “the law” extremely difficult. There is no “internet law” or single country whose laws and values apply universally (thankfully!) which is why cooperation between agencies in different countries is commonplace.The area where agreement is most easily reached however, and an area of particular concern, is child pornography.
