<t><p class="indent1">The youth<MH5288> will assault<MH7292> the elder<MH2205>, <t><p class="indent1">And the contemptible<MH7034> <i>person will assault</i> the one honored<MH3513>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>When<MH3588> a man<MH376> lays<MH8610> hold<MH8610> of his brother<MH251> in his father&#8217;s<MH1> house<MH1004>, <i>saying,</i> <t><p class="indent1">&#8220;You have a cloak<MH8071>, you shall be our ruler<MH7101>! <t><p class="indent1">And these<MH2088> ruins<MH4384> will be under<MH8478> your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>authority<MH3027>,&#8221; <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>He will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>protest<MH5375> on that day<MH3117>, saying<MH559>, <p class="indent1stline">&#8220;I will not be <i>your</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>healer<MH2280>, <t><p class="indent1">For in my house<MH1004> there<MH369> is<MH369> neither<MH369> bread<MH3899> nor<MH369> cloak<MH8071>; <t><p class="indent1">You should not appoint<MH7760> me ruler<MH7101> of the people<MH5971a>.&#8221; <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>For Jerusalem<MH3389> has stumbled<MH3782> and Judah<MH3063> has fallen<MH5307>, <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH3588> their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>speech<MH3956> and their actions<MH4611> are against<MH413> the LORD<MH3068>, <t><p class="indent1">To rebel<MH4784> against <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>His glorious<MH3519b> presence<MH5869>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>The expression<MH1971> of their faces<MH6440> testifies<MH6030a> against them, <t><p class="indent1">And they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>display<MH5046> their sin<MH2403b> like Sodom<MH5467>; <t><p class="indent1">They do not <i>even</i> conceal<MH3582> <i>it.</i> <t><p class="indent1">Woe<MH188> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>them! <t><p class="indent1">For they have done<MH1580> evil<MH7463a> to themselves. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Say<MH559> to the righteous<MH6662> that <i>it will go</i> well<MH2895> <i>for them,</i> <t><p class="indent1">For they will eat<MH398> the fruit<MH6529> of their actions<MH4611>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Woe<MH188> to the wicked<MH7563>! <i>It will go</i> badly<MH7451a> <i>for him,</i> <t><p class="indent1">For <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>what<MH1576, 3027> he deserves<MH1576, 3027> will be done<MH6213a> to him. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>My people<MH5971a>! Their oppressors<MH5065> treat<MH5953a> them violently<MH5953a>, <t><p class="indent1">And women<MH802> rule<MH4910> over them. <t><p class="indent1">My people<MH5971a>! Those who guide<MH833> you lead<MH8582> <i>you</i> astray<MH8582> <t><p class="indent1">And confuse<MH1104> the direction<MH1870> of your paths<MH734>. <p class="hdg">God Will Judge</p><poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>The LORD<MH3068> arises<MH5324> to contend<MH7378>, <t><p class="indent1">And stands<MH5975> to judge<MH1777> the people<MH5971a>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>The LORD<MH3068> enters<MH935> into judgment<MH4941> with the elders<MH2205> and leaders<MH8269> of His people<MH5971a>, <p class="indent1stline">&#8220;It is you who have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>devoured<MH1197a> the vineyard<MH3754>; <t><p class="indent1">The goods<MH1500> stolen<MH1500> from the poor<MH6041> are in your houses<MH1004>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/3-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>&#8220;What<MH4100> do you mean by crushing<MH1792> My people<MH5971a> <t><p class="indent1">And <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>oppressing<MH2912> the face<MH6440> of the poor<MH6041>?&#8221;
