Bubble Image Velocimetry (BIV) and Image Processing (IP) techniques were applied to study the various types of wave-model impacts. Different wave characteristics were generated in a tow tank to investigate the effects of wave characteristics, such as wave phase velocity, wave steepness on droplet velocities, and behavior of the process of spray cloud formation. The phase ensemble-averaged vertical velocity and turbulent intensity were computed. A high-speed camera and diffused LED backlights were utilized to capture images for further post processing. Various pressure sensors and capacitive wave probes were used to measure the wave impact pressure and the free surface profile at different locations of the model and wave-tank, respectively. Droplet sizes and velocities were measured using BIV and IP techniques to trace bubbles and droplets in order to measure their velocities and sizes by correlating the texture in these images. The impact pressure and droplet size distributions were compared to several previously experimental models, and satisfactory agreements were achieved. The distribution of droplets in front of both models are demonstrated. Due to the highly transient process of spray formation, the drag coefficient for several stages of this transient displacement for various droplet size ranges and different Reynolds number were calculated based on the ensemble average method. From the experimental results, the slant model produces less spray in comparison with the vertical model, and the droplet velocities generated from the wave impact with the slant model have a lower velocity as compared with the vertical model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spray%20charachteristics" title="spray charachteristics">spray charachteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=droplet%20size%20and%20velocity" title=" droplet size and velocity"> droplet size and velocity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wave-body%20interactions" title=" wave-body interactions"> wave-body interactions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bubble%20image%20velocimetry" title=" bubble image velocimetry"> bubble image velocimetry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20processing" title=" image processing"> image processing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59908/experimental-modeling-of-spray-and-water-sheet-formation-due-to-wave-interactions-with-vertical-and-slant-bow-shaped-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59908.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">300</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">37</span> Optimum Design of Heat Exchanger in Diesel Engine Cold EGR for Pollutants Reduction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nasser%20Ghassembaglou">Nasser Ghassembaglou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Rahmatfam"> Armin Rahmatfam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faramarz%20Ranjbar"> Faramarz Ranjbar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Using of cold EGR method with variable venturi and turbocharger has a very significant affection on the reduction of NOX and grime simultaneously. The novelty of this study consists in the effect of compaction pressure on the electrochemical performance of Ni-SDC/SDC anode, with no binder used between layers. The electrical behavior of the prepared anode has been studied by electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) in controlled atmospheres, operating at high temperatures (600-800 °C). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sintering" title="sintering">sintering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuel%20cell" title=" fuel cell"> fuel cell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrical%20conductivity" title=" electrical conductivity"> electrical conductivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanostructures" title=" nanostructures"> nanostructures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impedance%20spectroscopy" title=" impedance spectroscopy"> impedance spectroscopy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ceramics" title=" ceramics"> ceramics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21637/morphology-and-electrical-conductivity-of-a-non-symmetrical-nio-sdcsdc-anode-through-a-microwave-assisted-route" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21637.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">470</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">33</span> Investigation on the Acoustical Transmission Path of Additive Printed Metals</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raphael%20Rehmet">Raphael Rehmet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Lohrengel"> Armin Lohrengel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prof%20Dr-Ing"> Prof Dr-Ing</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In terms of making machines more silent and convenient, it is necessary to analyze the transmission path of mechanical vibrations and structure-bone noise. A typical solution for the elimination of structure-bone noise would be to simply add stiffeners or additional masses to change the transmission behavior and, thereby, avoid the propagation of vibrations. Another solution could be to use materials with a different damping behavior, such as elastomers, to isolate the machine dynamically. This research approach investigates the damping behavior of additive printed components made from structural steel or titanium, which have been manufactured in the “Laser Powder Bed Fusion“-process. By using the design flexibility which this process comes with, it will be investigated how a local impedance difference will affect the transmission behavior of the specimens. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3D-printed" title="3D-printed">3D-printed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acoustics" title=" acoustics"> acoustics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamics" title=" dynamics"> dynamics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impedance" title=" impedance"> impedance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140569/investigation-on-the-acoustical-transmission-path-of-additive-printed-metals" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140569.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">207</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">32</span> Experimental Determination of Aluminum 7075-T6 Parameters Using Stabilized Cycle Tests to Predict Thermal Ratcheting</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Rahmatfam">Armin Rahmatfam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Zehsaz"> Mohammad Zehsaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farid%20Vakili%20Tahami"> Farid Vakili Tahami</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nasser%20Ghassembaglou"> Nasser Ghassembaglou</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper the thermal ratcheting, kinematic hardening parameters C, γ, isotropic hardening parameters and also k, b, Q combined isotropic/kinematic hardening parameters have been obtained experimentally from the monotonic, strain controlled cyclic tests at room and elevated temperatures of 20°C, 100°C, and 400°C. The majority of fatal and catastrophic geological accidents are related to shear strength failure of the soil. Therefore, its prediction is a matter of high importance. However, acquiring the shear strength is usually a cumbersome task that might need complicated laboratory testing. Therefore, prediction of it based on common and easy to get soil properties can simplify the projects substantially. In this paper, A hybrid model based on the classification and regression tree algorithm and logistic regression is proposed where each leaf of the tree is an independent regression model. A database of 189 points for clay soil, including Moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit, clay content, and shear strength, is collected. The performance of the developed model compared to the existing models and equations using root mean squared error and coefficient of correlation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=model%20tree" title="model tree">model tree</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CART" title=" CART"> CART</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=logistic%20regression" title=" logistic regression"> logistic regression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20shear%20strength" title=" soil shear strength"> soil shear strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141471/a-hybrid-model-tree-and-logistic-regression-model-for-prediction-of-soil-shear-strength-in-clay" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141471.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">197</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">30</span> Estimation of Tensile Strength for Granitic Rocks by Using Discrete Element Approach </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aliakbar%20Golshani">Aliakbar Golshani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Ramezanzad"> Armin Ramezanzad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Tensile strength which is an important parameter of the rock for engineering applications is difficult to measure directly through physical experiment (i.e. uniaxial tensile test). Therefore, indirect experimental methods such as Brazilian test have been taken into consideration and some relations have been proposed in order to obtain the tensile strength for rocks indirectly. In this research, to calculate numerically the tensile strength for granitic rocks, Particle Flow Code in three-dimension (PFC3D) software were used. First, uniaxial compression tests were simulated and the tensile strength was determined for Inada granite (from a quarry in Kasama, Ibaraki, Japan). Then, by simulating Brazilian test condition for Inada granite, the tensile strength was indirectly calculated again. Results show that the tensile strength calculated numerically agrees well with the experimental results obtained from uniaxial tensile tests on Inada granite samples. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numerical%20simulation" title="numerical simulation">numerical simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20flow%20code" title=" particle flow code"> particle flow code</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PFC" title=" PFC"> PFC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tensile%20strength" title=" tensile strength"> tensile strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Brazilian%20Test" title=" Brazilian Test"> Brazilian Test</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108663/estimation-of-tensile-strength-for-granitic-rocks-by-using-discrete-element-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108663.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">191</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29</span> Experimental and Finite Element Analysis for Mechanics of Soil-Tool Interaction </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Armin">A. The effects of blade’s shape and rake angle are examined both numerically and experimentally. The soil is considered as an elastic-plastic granular material with non-associated Drucker-Prager material model. Contact elements with different properties are used to mimic soil-blade sliding and soil-soil cutting phenomena. A separation criterion is presented and a procedure to evaluate the forces acting on the blade is given and discussed in detail. Experimental results were derived from tests using soil bin facility and instruments at the University of Saskatchewan. During motion of the blade, load cells collect data and send them to a computer. The measured forces using load cells had noisy signals which are needed to be filtered. The FE results are compared with experimental results for verification. This technique can be used in blade shape optimization and design of more complicated blade’s shape. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=finite%20element%20analysis" title="finite element analysis">finite element analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=experimental%20results" title=" experimental results"> experimental results</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blade%20force" title=" blade force"> blade force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil-blade%20contact%20modeling" title=" soil-blade contact modeling"> soil-blade contact modeling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62921/experimental-and-finite-element-analysis-for-mechanics-of-soil-tool-interaction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62921.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">320</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28</span> Experimental Study on Hardness and Impact Strength of Polyethylene/Carbon Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Najipour">Armin Najipour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20M.%20Fattahi"> A. The wide range of applications is appraised appropriately to have a stable well-production. Production logging tool, which is known as PLT in the oil and gas industry, is counted as one of the most reliable methods to evaluate the efficiency of fractures jobs. This tool has a number of benefits and can be used to prevent subsequent production failure. It also distinguishes different problems that occurred during well-production. In this study, the effectiveness of hydraulic fracturing jobs is examined by using the PLT in various cases and situations. The performance of hydraulically fractured wells is investigated. Then, the PLT is employed to gives more information about the properties of different layers. The PLT is also used to selecting an optimum fracturing design. The results show that one fracture and three-stage fractures behave differently. In general, the one-stage fracture should be created in high-quality areas of the reservoir to have better performance, and conversely, in three-stage fractures, low-quality areas are a better candidate for fracturing <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-stage%20fracturing" title="multi-stage fracturing">multi-stage fracturing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=horizontal%20well" title=" horizontal well"> horizontal well</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PLT" title=" PLT"> PLT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fracture%20length" title=" fracture length"> fracture length</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=number%20of%20stages" title=" number of stages"> number of stages</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141225/a-method-to-identify-areas-for-hydraulic-fracturing-by-using-production-logging-tools" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141225.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">194</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> Experimental Study on Tensile Strength of Polyethylene/Carbon Injected Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Najipour">Armin Najipour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20M.%20Fattahi"> A. The nature of the design is to determine a quadrupole with low relative higher order harmonics and better field quality. The design problem was formulated as an optimization model, in which the objective function is the higher order harmonics (multipole errors) and the variable to be optimized is the material distribution on the pole. The higher order harmonics arose in the quadrupole due to truncating the ideal hyperbola at a certain point to make the pole. In this project, the arisen harmonics have been optimized both transversely and longitudinally by adjusting material on the poles in a controlled way. For optimization, finite element analysis (FEA) has been conducted. A better higher order harmonics amplitudes and field quality have been achieved through the optimization. On the basis of the optimized magnetic design, electrical and cooling calculation has been performed for the magnet. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drift" title="drift">drift</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrical" title=" electrical"> electrical</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=and%20cooling%20calculation" title=" and cooling calculation"> and cooling calculation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=integrated%20field" title=" integrated field"> integrated field</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20field%20gradient" title=" magnetic field gradient"> magnetic field gradient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multipole%20errors" title=" multipole errors"> multipole errors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quadrupole" title=" quadrupole"> quadrupole</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106773/design-optimization-of-a-compact-quadrupole-electromagnet-for-cls-20" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106773.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">143</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">24</span> Co-Seismic Gravity Gradient Changes of the 2006–2007 Great Earthquakes in the Central Kuril Islands from GRACE Observations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Rahimi">Armin Rahimi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, we reveal co-seismic signals of two combined earthquakes, the 2006 Mw8.3 thrust and 2007 Mw8.1 normal fault earthquakes of the central Kuril Islands from GRACE observations. We compute monthly full gravitational gradient tensor in the local north-east-down frame for Kuril Islands earthquakes without spatial averaging and de-striping filters. Some of the gravitational gradient components (e.g. ΔVxx, ΔVxz) enhance high frequency components of the earth gravity field and reveal more details in spatial and temporal domain. Therefore that preseismic activity can be better illustrated. We show that the positive-negative-positive co-seismic ΔVxx due to the Kuril Islands earthquakes ranges from − 0.13 to + 0.11 milli Eötvös, and ΔVxz shows a positive-negative-positive pattern ranges from − 0.16 to + 0.13 milli Eötvös, agree well with seismic model predictions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GRACE%20observation" title="GRACE observation">GRACE observation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gravitational%20gradient%20changes" title=" gravitational gradient changes"> gravitational gradient changes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuril%20island%20earthquakes" title=" Kuril island earthquakes"> Kuril island earthquakes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PSGRN%2FPSCMP" title=" PSGRN/PSCMP"> PSGRN/PSCMP</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68489/co-seismic-gravity-gradient-changes-of-the-2006-2007-great-earthquakes-in-the-central-kuril-islands-from-grace-observations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68489.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">276</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">23</span> Application of Additive Manufacturing for Production of Optimum Topologies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahdi%20Mottahedi">Mahdi Mottahedi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peter%20Zahn"> Peter Zahn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Lechler"> Armin Lechler</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alexander%20Verl"> Alexander Verl</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Optimal topology of components leads to the maximum stiffness with the minimum material use. For the generation of these topologies, normally algorithms are employed, which tackle manufacturing limitations, at the cost of the optimal result. The global optimum result with penalty factor one, however, cannot be fabricated with conventional methods. In this article, an additive manufacturing method is introduced, in order to enable the production of global topology optimization results. For a benchmark, topology optimization with higher and lower penalty factors are performed. Different algorithms are employed in order to interpret the results of topology optimization with lower factors in many microstructure layers. These layers are then joined to form the final geometry. The algorithms’ benefits are then compared experimentally and numerically for the best interpretation. The findings demonstrate that by implementation of the selected algorithm, the stiffness of the components produced with this method is higher than what could have been produced by conventional techniques. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=topology%20optimization" title="topology optimization">topology optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=additive%20manufacturing" title=" additive manufacturing"> additive manufacturing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3D-printer" title=" 3D-printer"> 3D-printer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laminated%20object%20manufacturing" title=" laminated object manufacturing"> laminated object manufacturing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48038/application-of-additive-manufacturing-for-production-of-optimum-topologies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48038.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">339</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">22</span> Rehabilitative Walking: The Development of a Robotic Walking Training Device Using Functional Electrical Stimulation for Treating Spinal Cord Injuries and Lower-Limb Paralysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chung%20Hyun%20Goh">Chung Hyun Goh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Yazdanshenas"> Armin Yazdanshenas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=X.%20Neil%20Dong"> X. Due to farmers' lack of information about products' demand and lack of proper planning for harvest time, annually the considerable amount of products is corrupted. Besides, in this paper, we attempt to improve these unfavorable conditions via designing an effective supply chain network that tries to minimize total costs of agricultural products along with minimizing shortage in demand points. To validate the proposed model, a stochastic optimization approach by using a branch and bound solver of the LINGO software is utilized. Furthermore, to accumulate the data of parameters, a case study in Mazandaran province placed in the north of Iran has been applied. Finally, using ɛ-constraint approach, a Pareto front is obtained and one of its Pareto solutions as best solution is selected. Then, related results of this solution are explained. These allowed predicting and supervising the active power produced by the system, characterized respectively by the middle powers of -150 kW, -250kW and -480 kW which will be injected directly into the public electrical grid and the reactive power, characterized respectively by the middle powers of 60 kW, 180 kW and 320 kW and will be consumed by the wind generator. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modelling" title="modelling">modelling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulation" title=" simulation"> simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20generator" title=" wind generator"> wind generator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fixed%20speed%20wind%20turbine" title=" fixed speed wind turbine"> fixed speed wind turbine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Matlab-Simulink" title=" Matlab-Simulink"> Matlab-Simulink</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15775/simulation-of-wind-generator-with-fixed-wind-turbine-under-matlab-simulink" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15775.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">627</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">19</span> Effect of Multi-Stage Fractured Patterns on Production Improvement of Horizontal Wells</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Shirbazo">Armin Shirbazo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Vahab"> Mohammad Vahab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamed%20Lamei%20Ramandi"> Hamed Lamei Ramandi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jalal%20Fahimpour"> Jalal Fahimpour</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the most effective ways for increasing production in wells that are faced with problems such as pressure depletion and low rate is hydraulic fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing is creating a high permeable path through the reservoir and simulated area around the wellbore. This is very important for low permeability reservoirs, which their production is uneconomical. In this study, the influence of the fracturing pattern in multi-stage fractured horizontal wells is analyzed for a tight, heavy oil reservoir to explore the impact of fracturing patterns on improving oil recovery. The horizontal well has five transverse fractures with the same fracture length, width, height, and conductivity properties. The fracture patterns are divided into four distinct shapes: uniform shape, diamond shape, U shape, and W shape. The results show that different fracturing patterns produce various cumulative production after ten years, and the best pattern can be selected based on the most cumulative production. The result also illustrates that optimum design in fracturing can boost the production up to 3% through the permeability distribution around the wellbore and reservoir. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-stage%20fracturing" title="multi-stage fracturing">multi-stage fracturing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=horizontal%20well" title=" horizontal well"> horizontal well</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fracture%20patterns" title=" fracture patterns"> fracture patterns</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fracture%20length" title=" fracture length"> fracture length</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=number%20of%20stages" title=" number of stages"> number of stages</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141227/effect-of-multi-stage-fractured-patterns-on-production-improvement-of-horizontal-wells" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141227.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">222</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18</span> Pollution of Cadmium in Green Space of Rasht City and Environmental Health</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Armin%20Hashemi">Seyed Armin Hashemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Somayeh%20Rahimzadeh"> Somayeh Rahimzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The urban green space and environment should be considered to be among the most fundamental elements of the sustainability of natural and human life in the new citizenship. The present research is intended to evaluate the impact of irrigation using urban wastewater of Cadmium (Cd) in the soil and leaves of the pine trees of Rasht in the forest territories of Rasht. For this purpose, following the exact specification of the geographical and topographical attributes of under treatment area, 100 sample trees were implemented randomly –systematically in each compound studied. Approaching the end of growth season, five trees were selected randomly in each of the plats and samples of leaves were collected from the parts near to the end of the crown and the part which was adjacent to the light. At the foot of each of the trees selected, a soil profile was dug and samples of soil were extracted from three depths of 0-20, centimeters. The measurements done in the laboratory showed that the density of nutritious elements of the samples of leaf and soil in the compound irrigated with wastewater .The results of the present research suggest that urban can be used as a source of irrigation whereas muck can be employed in forestation and irrigation with precise and particular supervision and control. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=irrigation" title="irrigation">irrigation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=forestation" title=" forestation"> forestation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20waste%20water" title=" urban waste water"> urban waste water</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pine" title=" pine"> pine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wastewater" title=" wastewater"> wastewater</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42151/pollution-of-cadmium-in-green-space-of-rasht-city-and-environmental-health" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42151.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">454</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">17</span> The Investigation of Green Building Certification on the Productivity and Mental and Physical Health of Building's Occupants in Tehran, Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Samarghandi">Armin Samarghandi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirreza%20Jafari"> Amirreza Jafari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamad%20Ghiasi"> Mohamad Ghiasi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Numerous assertions and some empirical evidence imply that 'green' buildings ought to be more productive and healthier (mentally and physiologically) than conventional structures. Since then, empirical data has been equivocal, indicating either that the studies are inaccurate or that the research has just scratched the surface of green buildings in offices, accommodation, and hospital settings and not taken the aforementioned holistically. This study compared four green-certified buildings -one residential green building, one green hospital, and one green school- with conventional structures in Tehran, Iran, by means of a questionnaire spread among those utilizing these buildings, and assessing their productivity and health rate as opposed to the time they resided, worked in conventional buildings. The results demonstrated higher scores pertaining to productivity and physical and mental wellness as a consequence of better indoor environmental quality (IEQ), natural lighting, design, and sustainability of these buildings against non-green buildings. Chatter can leads to damage of the tool, the part or the machine tool. Therefore, the estimation and prediction of the process stability is very important. The process stability depends on the spindle speed, the depth of cut and the width of cut. In milling, the process conditions are defined in the NC-program. While the spindle speed is directly coded in the NC-program, the depth and width of cut are unknown. This paper presents a new simulation based approach for the prediction of the depth and width of cut of a milling process. The prediction is based on a material removal simulation with an analytically represented tool shape and a multi-dexel approach for the work piece. The new calculation method allows the direct estimation of the depth and width of cut, which are the influencing parameters of the process stability, instead of the removed volume as existing approaches do. The knowledge can be used to predict the stability of new, unknown parts. Moreover with an additional vibration sensor, the stability lobe diagram of a milling process can be estimated and improved based on the estimated depth and width of cut. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dexel" title="dexel">dexel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=process%20stability" title=" process stability"> process stability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=material%20removal" title=" material removal"> material removal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=milling" title=" milling"> milling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31429/determining-the-width-and-depths-of-cut-in-milling-on-the-basis-of-a-multi-dexel-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31429.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">525</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> Comparisons of Co-Seismic Gravity Changes between GRACE Observations and the Predictions from the Finite-Fault Models for the 2012 Mw = 8.6 Indian Ocean Earthquake Off-Sumatra</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Rahimi">Armin Rahimi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) has been a very successful project in determining math redistribution within the Earth system. Large deformations caused by earthquakes are in the high frequency band. Unfortunately, GRACE is only capable to provide reliable estimate at the low-to-medium frequency band for the gravitational changes. In this study, we computed the gravity changes after the 2012 Mw8.6 Indian Ocean earthquake off-Sumatra using the GRACE Level-2 monthly spherical harmonic (SH) solutions released by the University of Texas Center for Space Research (UTCSR). Moreover, we calculated gravity changes using different fault models derived from teleseismic data. The model predictions showed non-negligible discrepancies in gravity changes. However, after removing high-frequency signals, using Gaussian filtering 350 km commensurable GRACE spatial resolution, the discrepancies vanished, and the spatial patterns of total gravity changes predicted from all slip models became similar at the spatial resolution attainable by GRACE observations, and predicted-gravity changes were consistent with the GRACE-detected gravity changes. Nevertheless, the fault models, in which give different slip amplitudes, proportionally lead to different amplitude in the predicted gravity changes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=undersea%20earthquake" title="undersea earthquake">undersea earthquake</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GRACE%20observation" title=" GRACE observation"> GRACE observation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gravity%20change" title=" gravity change"> gravity change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dislocation%20model" title=" dislocation model"> dislocation model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=slip%20distribution" title=" slip distribution"> slip distribution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69152/comparisons-of-co-seismic-gravity-changes-between-grace-observations-and-the-predictions-from-the-finite-fault-models-for-the-2012-mw-86-indian-ocean-earthquake-off-sumatra" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69152.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">355</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> Vibration Control of Hermetic Compressors Using Flexible Multi-Body Dynamics Theory </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Amindari">Armin Amindari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hermetic compressors are used widely for refrigeration, heat pump, and air conditioning applications. With the improvement of energy conservation and environmental protection requirements, inverter compressors that operates at different speeds have become increasingly attractive in the industry. Although speed change capability is more efficient, passing through resonant frequencies may lead to excessive vibrations. In this work, an integrated vibration control approach based on flexible multi-body dynamics theory is used for optimizing the vibration amplitudes of the compressor at different operating speeds. To examine the compressor vibrations, all the forces and moments exerted on the cylinder block were clarified and minimized using balancers attached to the upper and lower ends of the motor rotor and crankshaft. The vibration response of the system was simulated using Motionview™ software. In addition, mass-spring optimization was adopted to shift the resonant frequencies out of the operating speeds. The modal shapes of the system were studied using Optistruct™ solver. Using this approach, the vibrations were reduced up to 56% through dynamic simulations. The results were in high agreement with various experimental test data. In addition, the vibration resonance problem observed at low speeds was solved by shifting the resonant frequencies through optimization studies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vibration" title="vibration">vibration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MBD" title=" MBD"> MBD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compressor" title=" compressor"> compressor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hermetic" title=" hermetic"> hermetic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116433/vibration-control-of-hermetic-compressors-using-flexible-multi-body-dynamics-theory" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116433.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">100</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> In vitro and in vivo Assessment of Cholinesterase Inhibitory Activity of the Bark Extracts of Pterocarpus santalinus L. for the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20Biswas">K. Prolonging the function of acetylcholine by inhibiting both acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase is most effective treatment therapy of AD. Traditionally <em>Pterocarpus santalinus</em> L. is widely known for its medicinal use. In this study, <em>in vitro</em> acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity was investigated and methanolic extract of the plant showed significant activity. To confirm this activity (<em>in vivo</em>), learning and memory enhancing effects were tested in mice. For the test, memory impairment was induced by scopolamine (cholinergic muscarinic receptor antagonist). Anti-amnesic effect of the extract was investigated by the passive avoidance task in mice. The study also includes brain acetylcholinesterase activity. Results proved that scopolamine induced cognitive dysfunction was significantly decreased by administration of the extract solution, in the passive avoidance task and inhibited brain acetylcholinesterase activity. These results suggest that bark extract of <em>Pterocarpus santalinus</em> can be better option for further studies on AD via their acetylcholinesterase inhibitory actions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pterocarpus%20santalinus" title="Pterocarpus santalinus">Pterocarpus santalinus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cholinesterase%20inhibitor" title=" cholinesterase inhibitor"> cholinesterase inhibitor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=passive%20avoidance" title=" passive avoidance"> passive avoidance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alzheimer%E2%80%99s%20disease" title=" Alzheimer’s disease"> Alzheimer’s disease</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97700/in-vitro-and-in-vivo-assessment-of-cholinesterase-inhibitory-activity-of-the-bark-extracts-of-pterocarpus-santalinus-l-for-the-treatment-of-alzheimers-disease" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97700.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">249</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> 3D Finite Element Analysis for Mechanics of Soil-Tool Interaction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Armin">A. As such power requirement to operate equipment attach to such robots become an important factor. Soil-tool interaction play major role in power consumption, thus predicting accurately the forces which act on the blade during the farming is prime importance for optimal designing of farm equipment. In this paper a finite element investigation for tillage tools and soil interaction is described by using an inelastic constitutive material law for agriculture application. A 3-dimentional (3D) nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) is developed to examine behavior of a blade with different rake angles moving in a block of soil, and to estimate the blade force. The soil model considered is an elastic-plastic with non-associated Drucker-Prager material model. Special use of contact elements are employed to consider connection between soil-blade and soil-soil surfaces. The FEA results are compared with experiment ones, which show good agreement in accurately predicting draft forces developed on the blade when it moves through the soil. Also, a very good correlation was obtained between FEA results and analytical results from classical soil mechanics theories for straight blades. These comparisons verified the FEA model developed. For analyzing complicated soil-tool interactions and for optimum design of blades, this method will be useful. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=finite%20element%20analysis" title="finite element analysis">finite element analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil-blade%20contact%20modeling" title=" soil-blade contact modeling"> soil-blade contact modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blade%20force" title=" blade force"> blade force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20engineering" title=" mechanical engineering"> mechanical engineering</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25744/3d-finite-element-analysis-for-mechanics-of-soil-tool-interaction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25744.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">296</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> The Investigation of Cadmium Pollution in the Metal Production Factory in Relation to Environmental Health</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Armin%20Hashemi">Seyed Armin Hashemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Somayeh%20Rahimzadeh"> Somayeh Rahimzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Toxic metals such as lead and cadmium are among the pollutants that are created by the metal production factories and disseminated in the nature. In order to study the quantity of cadmium pollution in the environment of the metal production factories, 50 saplings of the spruce species at the peripheries of the metal production factories were examined and the samples of the leaves, roots and stems of saplings planted around the factory and the soil of the environment of the factory were studied to investigate pollution with cadmium. The quantity of soil resources and spruce species’ pollution with cadmium in the region has been influenced by the production processes in the factory. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cadmium%20pollution" title="cadmium pollution">cadmium pollution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spruce" title=" spruce"> spruce</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20pollution" title=" soil pollution"> soil pollution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=the%20factory%20of%20producing%20alloy%20metals" title=" the factory of producing alloy metals"> the factory of producing alloy metals</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1368/the-investigation-of-cadmium-pollution-in-the-metal-production-factory-in-relation-to-environmental-health" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1368.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">332</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Impacts of Opium Addiction on Patterns of Angiographic Findings in Patients with Coronary Artery Syndrome</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Abdiardekani">Alireza Abdiardekani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maryam%20Salimi"> Maryam Salimi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shirin%20Sarejloo"> Shirin Sarejloo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehdi%20Bazrafshan"> Mehdi Bazrafshan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amir%20Askarinejad"> Amir Askarinejad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Salimi"> Amirhossein Salimi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hanieh%20Bazrafshan"> Hanieh Bazrafshan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salar%20Javanshir"> Salar Javanshir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Attar"> Armin Attar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shokoufeh%20Khanzadeh"> Shokoufeh Khanzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohsen%20Esmaeili"> Mohsen Esmaeili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamed%20Bazrafshan%20Drissi"> Hamed Bazrafshan Drissi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Opium, after tobacco, is the most abused substance in the Middle East. The effects of opium use on coronary artery disease are indeed unclear. This study aimed to assess the association between opium use and angiographic findings in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) diagnosis at Al-Zahra Heart Hospital, Shiraz, Iran. Methods: In this case-control study, 170 patients admitted for coronary angiography were enrolled from 2019 to 2020. They were categorized into two groups based on their history: "non-opium" and "opium." SPSS (Version 26) was used to investigate the correlation between opioid addiction and the severity of coronary artery disease. Results: The results of our study reveal that the mean age of the participants was 61.63±9.07. This study indicated that 49 (28.82%) patients were female, and 121 (71.17%) were male. Our findings revealed that three-vessel disease was more frequent in non-opium (40; 47.05%) and opium (45; 52.94%) groups. There was a significant correlation between the severity of the second diagonal artery(D2) and right coronary artery(RCA) involvement and opium consumption. There was a strong positive correlation between the location of the vascular lesion in the left circumflex artery and opium consumption. Conclusion: Opium, as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, can have specific effects on angiographic findings in patients with coronary artery disease. Public health officials and politicians should arrange several programs to increase the general population’s consciousness about opioid use and its consequences. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acute%20coronary%20syndrome" title="acute coronary syndrome">acute coronary syndrome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=opium" title=" opium"> opium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coronary%20artery%20disease" title=" coronary artery disease"> coronary artery disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=angiography" title=" angiography"> angiography</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154519/impacts-of-opium-addiction-on-patterns-of-angiographic-findings-in-patients-with-coronary-artery-syndrome" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154519.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">131</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Cell-Based and Exosome Treatments for Hair Restoration</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armin%20Khaghani%20Boroujeni">Armin Khaghani Boroujeni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leila%20Dehghani"> Leila Dehghani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parham%20Talebi%20Boroujeni"> Parham Talebi Boroujeni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahar%20Rostamian"> Sahar Rostamian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Asilian"> Ali Asilian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Hair loss is a common complaint observed in both genders. Androgenetic alopecia is known pattern for hair loss. To assess new regenerative strategies (PRP, A-SC-BT, conditioned media, exosome-based treatments) compared to conventional therapies for hair loss or hair regeneration, an updated review was undertaken. To address this issue, we carried out this systematic review to comprehensively evaluate the efficacy of cell-based therapies on hair loss. Methods: The available online databases, including ISI Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed, were searched systematically up to February 2022. The quality assessment of included studies was done using the Cochrane Collaboration's tool. Results: As a result, a total of 90 studies involving 2345 participants were included in the present study. The enrolled studies were conducted between 2010 and 2022. The subjects’ mean age ranged from 19 to 55.11 years old. Approaches using platelet rich plasma (PRP) provide a beneficial impact on hair regrowth. However, other cell-based therapies, including stem cell transplant, stem cell-derived conditioned medium, and stem cell-derived exosomes, revealed conflicting evidence. Conclusion: However, cell-based therapies for hair loss are still in their infancy, and more robust clinical studies are needed to better evaluate their mechanisms of action, efficacy, safety, benefits, and limitations. In this review, we provide the resources to the latest clinical studies and a more detailed description of the latest clinical studies concerning cell-based therapies in hair loss. <p
