The UFV Office of the Registrar maintains a list of transfer credit agreements. Transfer credit agreements for most B.C. institutions are published in the <a href="http://www.bctransferguide.ca">B.C. Transfer Guide</a>. If no transfer equivalency is listed on the B.C. Transfer Guide that does not mean that a course will not transfer to UFV. In this case, a course outline (syllabus) must be provided for review to determine the appropriate course equivalency at UFV for transfer credit. Once an official transcript is evaluated for transfer credit, the official UFV transcript will list all UFV equivalent transferred courses including grades. <p> Only transferable courses with a minimum grade of D or P (pass), when equated to the UFV grading system, can be applied towards the requirements of any UFV undergraduate credential. Some departments may require a grade higher than a D or P. Failed courses are counted in admission grade point average (GPA) calculations. <p>Transfer credit granted for previous work at another institution may or may not be applicable to a student’s program, and does not necessarily excuse the student from meeting the prerequisites or other requirements for entry into a course or program. There is no guarantee that courses completed at another institution and transferred to UFV will be recognized by other institutions. <p>Courses transferred to UFV will be used and applied to a program in accordance with UFV <a href="RegulationsAndPolicies.htm#Residency">Residency requirements</a>. <h2><a name="Process"></a>Transfer credit process</h2> <p>Official transcripts received by UFV from other institutions will automatically be reviewed for all students currently enrolled in, or applying to, an undergraduate program. Students in other programs must send a special request transfer credit to the Credential Evaluation office to <a href="mailto:articulation@ufv.ca">articulation@ufv.ca</a>. A transcript is considered official if it arrives to the UFV Office of the Registrar (33844 King Road, Abbotsford, B.C., V2S 7M8) in the original sealed envelope with the institution's name and address imprinted upon it. The transcripts must have a current issue date, and bear the official institution seal or authorizing signature. </p> <p>There is a document evaluation fee ($75 for domestic students, $250 for international students) for documents originating outside Canada. Submitted documents will become the property of UFV. Only documents that are considered, by UFV, to be irreplaceable will be returned to the student, provided the student requests return of the document upon submission. For documents that are not in English, including official transcripts and course outlines (syllabi), a certified translation into English done by a certified translator may also be required. Exceptions may be made for transcripts in French, but not for the course outlines (syllabi).</p> <p>A minimum of six to eight weeks is required for the evaluation process. Detailed course outlines may be required if no current course equivalencies exist.</p> <h2><a name="AP"> </a>Advanced Placement program</h2> <p>Transfer credit may be granted to students who have completed certain Advanced Placement (AP) courses from The College Board program. A minimum grade of 4 is required to obtain transfer credit for undergraduate courses at UFV. Advanced Placement course equivalencies at UFV are listed on the B.C. Transfer Guide at <a href="http://www.bctransferguide.ca/search/ap">www.bctransferguide.ca/search/ap</a>. In addition, UFV will grant general unassigned credits for other Advanced Placement courses with a grade of 4 or higher that are accepted at other B.C. public universities. <p>To obtain transfer credit, an official AP transcript must be sent directly from The College Board to UFV Admissions, Office of the Registrar, 33844 King Road, Abbotsford, B.C., V2S 7M8. Transfer credit will not be awarded on the basis of transcripts issued by secondary schools, or another third party. The College Board institutional number for UFV is 6750. <h2><a name="IB"></a>International Baccalaureate program</h2> <p>Transfer credit may be granted to students who have completed certain Higher Level (HL) courses from the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. A minimum grade of 5 is required to obtain transfer credit for undergraduate courses at UFV. International Baccalaureate course equivalencies at UFV are listed on the B.C. Transfer Guide at <a href="http://www.bctransferguide.ca/search/ib">www.bctransferguide.ca/search/ib</a>. In addition, UFV will grant general unassigned credits for other IB Higher Level courses with a grade of 5 or higher that are accepted at other B.C. public universities. <p>To obtain transfer credits, an official IB transcript must be sent directly from International Baccalaureate Organization to UFV Admissions, 33844 King Road, Abbotsford, B.C., V2S 7M8. Transfer credit will not be awarded on the basis of transcripts issued by secondary schools, or another third party. International Baccalaureate Organization institutional number for UFV is 00084. <h2><a name="Visiting"></a>Visiting students</h2> <p>Visiting Students are students from one post-secondary institution (the “home” institution) who register at another intending to transfer their course(s) back to their home institution. <h3>Visiting students studying at UFV </h3> <p>UFV accepts applications from students at post-secondary institutions wishing to take credit courses numbered 100 to 499. Students interested in other courses may contact the Office of the Registrar to determine their eligibility. Students interested in graduate-level courses should contact the Office of Research, Engagement, and Graduate Studies. </p> <p>Admission as a Visiting Student may be limited for programs with additional entry and continuance requirements and for high-demand courses.</p> <p>Once admitted, Visiting Student status is valid for up to two consecutive semesters. Students wishing to apply for a subsequent semester will need to submit another application for admission for the semester they wish to attend. To qualify to be a Visiting Student at UFV, applicants must be in good standing at their home institution and must submit an official transcript and Letter of Permission (or equivalent) issued by their home institution. </p> <p>English is the primary language of instruction at UFV. All prospective Visiting Students are required to meet the Degree/diploma level English language proficiency requirement before they are admitted. For details on how this requirement may be met, see the <a href="../General/EnglishProficiency.htm">English language proficiency requirement</a> section of the calendar.</p> <p>No transfer credit will be assigned and registration priority is limited.</p> <h3> UFV students visiting at another institution </h3> <p>UFV students wanting to take courses at another post-secondary institution and apply the credits to their program at UFV must request a Letter of Permission prior to attending another institution. </p> <p>Only UFV students who are in good standing may be considered for a Letter of Permission. Students who are on Academic Warning or Academic Probation are not normally eligible to receive a Letter of Permission. Students who are currently on Required to Withdraw (RTW) status may be allowed to take courses elsewhere, depending on their circumstances. Courses completed as Visiting Students elsewhere are not included in any UFV grade point average calculation. </p> <p>Transferability of courses will be determined by the Office of the Registrar, and approval for applying courses to a credential will be completed by the student’s program area. Once approval has been granted, the Office of the Registrar will provide a formal Letter of Permission. </p> <p>Interested students should request a Letter of Permission form from the Office of the Registrar at least two months prior to starting their studies at another institution. </p> <p>Students who apply to be a Visiting Student while taking the last course(s) required to complete their credential will normally need to wait until the term following completion of the courses(s) to be considered for graduation.</p> <h2><a name="TransferOut"></a>Transfer to other institutions</h2>
