characteristics of distinct construction material, rubberized lightweight foam concrete (RLFC) wall panels, which have been developed as a sustainable alternative for the construction industry. These panels are engineered with a RLFC core, possessing a density of 1150 kg/m3, which is specifically formulated to bear structural loads. The core is enveloped with high-strength fiber cement boards, selected for their superior load-bearing capabilities, and enhanced flexural strength when compared to conventional concrete. A thin bed adhesive, known as TPS, is employed to create a robust bond between the RLFC core and the fiber cement cladding. This study underscores the potential of RLFC wall panels as a viable and eco-friendly option for modern building construction, offering a combination of structural efficiency and environmental benefits. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20performance" title="structural performance">structural performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rubberized%20concrete%20wall%20panel" title=" rubberized concrete wall panel"> rubberized concrete wall panel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fiber%20cement%20board" title=" fiber cement board"> fiber cement board</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=insulation%20performance" title=" insulation performance"> insulation performance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183246/structural-performances-of-rubberized-concrete-wall-panel-utilizing-fiber-cement-board-as-skin-layer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183246.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">62</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">848</span> Particle Size Dependent Enhancement of Compressive Strength and Carbonation Efficiency in Steel Slag Cementitious Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jason%20Ting%20Jing%20Cheng">Jason Ting Jing Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lee%20Foo%20Wei"> Lee Foo Wei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yew%20Ming%20Kun"> Yew Ming Kun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chin%20Ren%20Jie"> Chin Ren Jie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yip%20Chun%20Chieh"> Yip Chun Chieh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The utilization of industrial by-products, such as steel slag in cementitious materials, not only mitigates environmental impact but also enhances material properties. This study investigates the dual influence of steel slag particle size on the compressive strength and carbonation efficiency of cementitious composites. Through a systematic experimental approach, steel slag particles were incorporated into cement at varying sizes, and the resulting composites were subjected to mechanical and carbonation tests. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) are conducted in this paper. The findings reveal a positive correlation between increased particle size and compressive strength, attributed to the improved interfacial transition zone and packing density. Conversely, smaller particle sizes exhibited enhanced carbonation efficiency, likely due to the increased surface area facilitating the carbonation reaction. The presence of higher silica and calcium content in finer particles was confirmed by EDX, which contributed to the accelerated carbonation process. This study underscores the importance of particle size optimization in designing sustainable cementitious materials with balanced mechanical performance and carbon sequestration potential. The insights gained from the advanced analytical techniques offer a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms at play, paving the way for the strategic use of steel slag in eco-friendly construction practices. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=steel%20slag" title="steel slag">steel slag</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbonation%20efficiency" title=" carbonation efficiency"> carbonation efficiency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20size%20enhancement" title=" particle size enhancement"> particle size enhancement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compressive%20strength" title=" compressive strength"> compressive strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183245/particle-size-dependent-enhancement-of-compressive-strength-and-carbonation-efficiency-in-steel-slag-cementitious-composites" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183245.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">61</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">847</span> An Investigation of the Pharmacomechanisms of Shang-Han Lun Formulas as Elucidated in the Qing Dynasty Classic &#039;Ben-Jing Shu-Zheng&#039;</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=William%20Ceurvels">William Ceurvels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dong-Di%20Zhang"> Dong-Di Zhang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The true nature of the mechanism by which the pharmaceuticals of the Shang-Han Lun act has been a topic of debate since Wuji Cheng published the first commentary during the Northern Song. Subsequent commentaries employed a number of methodologies in their analysis of pharmaceutical mechanisms, but no commentator was able to garner universal acceptance. During the Qing Dynasty, the proliferation and development of Neo-Confucian scholarship produced a new generation of scholars possessed of rigorous and inventive research methods, one of whom was the famed materia medica scholar, Run-an Zou. Run-an Zou and his successor Zhou Yan advocated analyzing the mechanism of Treatise pharmaceuticals based upon the understanding of those pharmaceuticals during the time period in which the Treatise was written and thereby focused on the Han Dynasty materia medica tract Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing (The Divine Husbandman’s Herbal Foundation Canon). Zou Run-an’s commentary, Ben-jing Shu-zheng won nearly universal praise among materia medica scholars for its scholastic rigor and innovative research methods. However, because Ben-jing Shu-zheng only focuses on individual herbs, as opposed to formulas, its value in analyzing the Shang-Han Lun has limitations. The purpose of this study is to combine Zou Run-an’s single-pharmaceutical commentaries to generate theoretical full formula analyses to gain a fuller picture of Zou’s understanding of the healing mechanism of Shang-Han Lun formulas. Commentaries were gathered from Ben-jing Shu-zheng and Zhou Yan’s Ben-cao Si-bian Lun and combined to produce theoretical full formula model mechanisms of Treatise formulas. Through this study, a new picture of the mechanistic basis of Shang-han formulas emerges, which is based on qi-xue changes as opposed to organ or meridian theory. The author hopes that this modest research study will be of service to scholars of the Shang-han and clinical doctors alike in their pursuit of the true pharmacomechanisms of this great Han dynasty tome. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Materia%20medica" title="Materia medica">Materia medica</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shang-han%20Lun" title=" Shang-han Lun"> Shang-han Lun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shen-nong%20Ben-cao%20Jing" title=" Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing"> Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neo-Confucian%20scholarship" title=" neo-Confucian scholarship"> neo-Confucian scholarship</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86267/an-investigation-of-the-pharmacomechanisms-of-shang-han-lun-formulas-as-elucidated-in-the-qing-dynasty-classic-ben-jing-shu-zheng" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86267.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">318</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">846</span> Direct Bonded Aluminum to Alumina Using a Transient Eutectic Liquid Phase for Power Electronics Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Ting%20Wang">Yu-Ting Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yun-Hsiang%20Cheng"> Yun-Hsiang Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Cheng%20Lin"> Chien-Cheng Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kun-Lin%20Lin"> Kun-Lin Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Using a transient liquid phase method, Al was successfully bonded with Al₂O₃, which deposited Ni, Cu, Ge, and Si at the surface of the Al₂O₃ substrate after annealing at the relatively low melting point of Al. No reaction interlayer existed at the interface of any Al/Al₂O₃ specimens. Al−Fe intermetallic compounds, such as Al₉Fe₂ and Al₃Fe, formed in the Al substrate because of the precipitation of Fe, which was an impurity of the Al foil, and the reaction with Al at the grain boundaries of Al during annealing processing. According to the evaluation results of mechanical and thermal properties, the Al/Al₂O₃ specimen deposited on the Ni film possessed the highest shear strength, thermal conductivity, and bonding area percentage, followed by the Cu, Ge, and Si films. The properties of the Al/Al₂O₃ specimens deposited with Ge and Si were relatively unsatisfactory, which could be because the deposited amorphous layers easily formed oxide, resulting in inferior adhesion between Al and Al₂O₃. Therefore, the optimal choice for use in high-power devices is Al/Al₂O₃, with the deposition of Ni film. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=direct-bonded%20aluminum" title="direct-bonded aluminum">direct-bonded aluminum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transient%20liquid%20phase" title=" transient liquid phase"> transient liquid phase</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20conductivity" title=" thermal conductivity"> thermal conductivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microstructures" title=" microstructures"> microstructures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shear%20strength" title=" shear strength"> shear strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116949/direct-bonded-aluminum-to-alumina-using-a-transient-eutectic-liquid-phase-for-power-electronics-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116949.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">157</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">845</span> Population Stereotype Production, User Factors, and Icon Design for Underserved Communities of Rural India</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Avijit%20Sengupta">Avijit Sengupta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Klarissa%20Ting%20Ting%20Cheng"> Klarissa Ting Ting Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maffee%20Peng-Hui%20Wan"> Maffee Peng-Hui Wan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study investigates the influence of user factors and referent characteristics on representation types generated using the stereotype production method for designing icons. Sixty-eight participants of farming communities were asked to draw images based on sixteen feature referents. Significant statistical differences were found between the types of representations generated for contextual and context-independent referents. Strong correlations were observed between years of formal education and total number of abstract representations produced for both contextual and context-independent referents. However, representation characteristics were not influenced by other user factors such as participants’ experience with mobile phone and years of farming experience. A statistically significant tendency of making concrete representations was observed for both contextual and context-independent referents. These findings provide insights on community members’ involvement in icon design and suggest a consolidated icon design strategy based on population stereotype, particularly for under-served rural communities of India. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=abstract%20representation" title="abstract representation">abstract representation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=concrete%20representation" title=" concrete representation"> concrete representation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=participatory%20design" title=" participatory design"> participatory design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=population%20stereotype" title=" population stereotype"> population stereotype</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2444/population-stereotype-production-user-factors-and-icon-design-for-underserved-communities-of-rural-india" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2444.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">375</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">844</span> The Nurse Practitioner’s Role Functions in Multi-Specialist Team When Caring for a Metastatic Colon Cancer Patient with Acute Intestinal Obstruction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yun-Tsuen%20Chen">Yun-Tsuen Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Ting%20Huang"> Shih-Ting Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pi-Fen%20Cheng"> Pi-Fen Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Ting%20Su"> Yu-Ting Su</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joffrey%20Hsu"> Joffrey Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hui-Zhu%20Chen"> Hui-Zhu Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Acute intestinal obstruction is one of the differentials of acute abdomen and requires timely alleviation of intestinal distention and abdominal pain to avoid perforation, intra-abdominal infection, and peritonitis. Investigation to identify the cause of obstruction will direct treatment planning and allow for more effective management. In this study, we present a 71-year-old female presenting with symptoms of acute intestinal obstruction for five days. After extensive history taking, physical exam, medical imaging, and pathology, the patient was diagnosed with colon cancer with lung metastasis and acute intestinal obstruction. The patient was placed on nil per os status with intravenous fluid support, intravenous antibiotics, and a decompression nasogastric tube was placed. The patient received decompression with colostomy creation surgery. After assessing the patient’s clinical condition and tumor staging, a multidisciplinary healthcare team created an individualized treatment plan, which included plans to prepare the patient for home self-care and maintain good mental health with regular monitoring in the clinic setting. This case demonstrates the importance of early diagnosis, effective treatment, and a multidisciplinary approach to the management of acute intestinal obstruction secondary to colon cancer. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acute%20intestinal%20obstruction" title="acute intestinal obstruction">acute intestinal obstruction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=colostomy%20surgery" title=" colostomy surgery"> colostomy surgery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metastatic%20colon%20cancer" title=" metastatic colon cancer"> metastatic colon cancer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multidisciplinary%20healthcare%20team" title=" multidisciplinary healthcare team"> multidisciplinary healthcare team</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155499/the-nurse-practitioners-role-functions-in-multi-specialist-team-when-caring-for-a-metastatic-colon-cancer-patient-with-acute-intestinal-obstruction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155499.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">114</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">843</span> Characterization of the Dispersion Phenomenon in an Optical Biosensor</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=An-Shik%20Yang">An-Shik Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chin-Ting%20Kuo"> Chin-Ting Kuo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yung-Chun%20Yang"> Yung-Chun Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Hsin%20Hsieh"> Wen-Hsin Hsieh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chiang-Ho%20Cheng"> Chiang-Ho Cheng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Optical biosensors have become a powerful detection and analysis tool for wide-ranging applications in biomedical research, pharmaceuticals and environmental monitoring. This study explores the role of visual arts within this interdisciplinary framework, focusing on the underwater sculptures of Jason deCaires Taylor as a case study. The research employs a multidisciplinary approach, combining art history, environmental science, and cultural studies to explore the significance of Taylor's underwater installations. Methodologies include analysis of the artistic elements and themes in Taylor's work, assessment of the ecological impact of the sculptures on marine environments, and examination of the cultural narratives they evoke. Key findings highlight how Taylor's sculptures serve as artificial reefs, promoting marine biodiversity while simultaneously raising awareness about ocean conservation. The artworks act as powerful symbols, merging environmental activism with artistic expression and transforming underwater spaces into immersive art galleries that challenge traditional notions of viewing art. By bridging the gap between visual arts and environmental science, this study demonstrates how Taylor's sculptures contribute to the Blue Humanities by fostering a deeper, more holistic appreciation of the marine world. The research advocates for the continued integration of artistic perspectives into marine conservation efforts, emphasizing the role of visual arts in shaping public perceptions and promoting ecological sustainability. In conclusion, this study underscores the transformative potential of visual arts within the Blue Humanities, exemplified by Jason deCaires Taylor's underwater sculptures, which inspire both aesthetic appreciation and environmental consciousness. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blue%20humanities" title="blue humanities">blue humanities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=visual%20art" title=" visual art"> visual art</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=underwater%20sculptures" title=" underwater sculptures"> underwater sculptures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jason%20deCaires%20Taylor" title=" Jason deCaires Taylor"> Jason deCaires Taylor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188792/exploring-visual-arts-through-the-blue-humanities-the-case-study-of-jason-decaires-taylors-underwater-sculptures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188792.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">26</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">841</span> The Textual Criticism on the Age of ‘Wan Li’ Shipwreck Porcelain and Its Comparison with ‘Whitte Leeuw’ and Hatcher Shipwreck Porcelain</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yang%20Liu">Yang Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dongliang%20Lyu"> Dongliang Lyu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> After the Wan li shipwreck was discovered 60 miles off the east coast of Tan jong Jara in Malaysia, numerous marvelous ceramic shards have been salvaged from the seabed. Remarkable pieces of Jing dezhen blue-and-white porcelain recovered from the site represent the essential part of the fascinating research. The porcelain cargo of Wan li shipwreck is significant to the studies on exported porcelains and Jing dezhen porcelain manufacture industry of Late-Ming dynasty. Using the ceramic shards categorization and the study of the Chinese and Western historical documents as a research strategy, the paper wants to shed new light on the Wan li shipwreck wares classification with Jingdezhen kiln ceramic as its main focus. The article is also discussing Jing dezhen blue-and-white porcelains from the perspective of domestic versus export markets and further proceeding to the systematization and analyses of Wan li shipwreck porcelain which bears witness to the forms, styles, and types of decoration that were being traded in this period. The porcelain data from two other shipwrecked projects -White Leeuw and Hatcher- were chosen as comparative case studies and Wan li shipwreck Jing dezhen blue-and-white porcelain is being reinterpreted in the context of art history and archeology of the region. The marine archaeologist Sten Sjostrand named the ship ‘Wanli shipwreck’ because its porcelain cargoes are typical of those made during the reign of Emperor Wan li of Ming dynasty. Though some scholars question the appropriateness of the name, the final verdict of the history is still to be made. Based on previous historical argumentation, the article uses a comparative approach to review the Wan li shipwreck blue-and-white porcelains on the grounds of the porcelains unearthed from the tomb or abandoned in the towns and carrying the time-specific reign mark. All these materials provide a very strong evidence which suggests that the porcelain recovered from Wan li ship can be dated to as early as the second year of Tianqi era (1622) and early Chongzhen reign. Lastly, some blue-and-white porcelain intended for the domestic market and some bowls of blue-and-white porcelain from Jing dezhen kilns recovered from the Wan li shipwreck all carry at the bottom the specific residue from the firing process. The author makes the corresponding analysis for these two interesting phenomena. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blue-and-white%20porcelain" title="blue-and-white porcelain">blue-and-white porcelain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming%20dynasty" title=" Ming dynasty"> Ming dynasty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20dezhen%20kiln" title=" Jing dezhen kiln"> Jing dezhen kiln</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wan%20li%20shipwreck" title=" Wan li shipwreck"> Wan li shipwreck</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/101043/the-textual-criticism-on-the-age-of-wan-li-shipwreck-porcelain-and-its-comparison-with-whitte-leeuw-and-hatcher-shipwreck-porcelain" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/101043.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">189</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">840</span> Attenuation of Homocysteine-Induced Cyclooxygenase-2 Expression in Human Monocytes by Fulvic Acid </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shao-Ju%20Chien">Shao-Ju Chien</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Chien%20Wu"> Yi-Chien Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ting-Ying%20Huang"> Ting-Ying Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li-Tsen%20Li"> Li-Tsen Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=You-Jin%20Chen"> You-Jin Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Nan%20Chen"> Cheng-Nan Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Homocysteine and pro-inflammatory mediators such as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) have been linked to vascular dysfunction and risks of cardiovascular diseases. Fulvic acid (FA) is class of compounds of humic substances and possesses various pharmacological properties. However, the effect of FA on inflammatory responses of the monocytes remains unclear. We investigated the regulatory effect of FA on homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression in human monocytes. Peripheral blood monocytes and U937 cells were kept as controls or pre-treated with FA, and then stimulated with homocysteine. The results show that pretreating monocytes with FA inhibited the homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression in a dose-dependent manner. The inhibitor for nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB) attenuated homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression. Our findings provide a molecular mechanism by which FA inhibit homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression in monocytes, and a basis for using FA in pharmaceutical therapy against inflammation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=homocysteine" title="homocysteine">homocysteine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=monocytes" title=" monocytes"> monocytes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclooxygenase-2" title=" cyclooxygenase-2"> cyclooxygenase-2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fulvic%20acid" title=" fulvic acid"> fulvic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anti-inflammation" title=" anti-inflammation"> anti-inflammation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3151/attenuation-of-homocysteine-induced-cyclooxygenase-2-expression-in-human-monocytes-by-fulvic-acid" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3151.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">597</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">839</span> A Privacy Protection Scheme Supporting Fuzzy Search for NDN Routing Cache Data Name</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Feng%20Tao">Feng Tao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ma%20Jing"> Ma Jing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guo%20Xian"> Guo Xian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wang%20Jing"> Wang Jing</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Named Data Networking (NDN) replaces IP address of traditional network with data name, and adopts dynamic cache mechanism. In the existing mechanism, however, only one-to-one search can be achieved because every data has a unique name corresponding to it. There is a certain mapping relationship between data content and data name, so if the data name is intercepted by an adversary, the privacy of the data content and user’s interest can hardly be guaranteed. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a one-to-many fuzzy search scheme based on order-preserving encryption to reduce the query overhead by optimizing the caching strategy. In this scheme, we use hash value to ensure the user’s query safe from each node in the process of search, so does the privacy of the requiring data content. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NDN" title="NDN">NDN</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=order-preserving%20encryption" title=" order-preserving encryption"> order-preserving encryption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20search" title=" fuzzy search"> fuzzy search</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=privacy" title=" privacy"> privacy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28847/a-privacy-protection-scheme-supporting-fuzzy-search-for-ndn-routing-cache-data-name" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28847.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">484</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">838</span> Design of a 28-nm CMOS 2.9-64.9-GHz Broadband Distributed Amplifier with Floating Ground CPW</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tian-Wei%20Huang">Tian-Wei Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei-Ting%20Bai"> Wei-Ting Bai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Tung%20Cheng"> Yu-Tung Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jeng-Han%20Tsai"> Jeng-Han Tsai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, a 1-stage 6-section conventional distributed amplifier (CDA) structure distributed power amplifier (DPA) fabricated in a 28-nm HPC+ 1P9M CMOS process is proposed. The transistor size selection is introduced to achieve broadband power matching and thus remains a high flatness output power and power added efficiency (PAE) within the bandwidth. With the inductive peaking technique, the high-frequency pole appears and the high-frequency gain is increased; the gain flatness becomes better as well. The inductive elements used to form an artificial transmission line are built up with a floating ground coplanar waveguide plane (CPWFG) rather than a microstrip line, coplanar waveguide (CPW), or spiral inductor to get better performance. The DPA achieves 12.6 dB peak gain at 52.5 GHz with 2.9 to 64.9 GHz 3-dB bandwidth. The Psat is 11.4 dBm with PAEMAX of 10.6 % at 25 GHz. In the study, we focus on adopting ICT-assisted PBL in college general education to foster professionals who possess multiple abilities. The research adopted a pretest and posttest quasi-experimental design. The control group received traditional instruction, and the experimental group received ICT-assisted PBL instruction. Descriptive statistics will be used to describe the means, standard deviations, and adjusted means for the tests between the two groups. Next, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) will be used to compare the final results of the two research groups after 6 weeks of instruction. Statistics gathered in the end of the research can be used to make contrasts. More innovative and high-tech sporting goods were developed to provide choices for consumers. Nowadays, Taiwan has gradually entered the aging society where people pay more attention to health promotion, delay of aging and other related issues among senior. However, it is an undeniable fact that moderate exercise is a great help to delay aging. Therefore, how senior select the appropriate sporting goods, including sports shoes, sportswear, sports equipment, and even the sports brands when engaged in various kinds of sports, are explored in this research. Therefore, this study sets the reference indicators by exploring the brands of sporting goods, that senior aged 50-70 choose in a fog peak district, the Taichung City, as the subjects of study by answering a questionnaire. Also, this study offers recommendations in terms of the design, marketing or selling of sporting goods for the senior, and how owners of sports brands or related sports industries should target them. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=senior" title="senior">senior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aging" title=" aging"> aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sporting%20goods" title=" sporting goods"> sporting goods</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sports%20brand" title=" sports brand"> sports brand</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73496/exploring-the-factors-that-influence-the-choices-of-senior-on-sporting-goods-and-brands-a-case-study-of-wufeng-district-taichung-city" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73496.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">200</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">835</span> Direct Electrophoretic Deposition of Hierarchical Structured Electrode Supercapacitor Application</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jhen-Ting%20Huang">Jhen-Ting Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Chia%20Chang"> Chia-Chia Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hu-Cheng%20Weng"> Hu-Cheng Weng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=An-Ya%20Lo"> An-Ya Lo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, Co3O4-CNT-Graphene composite electrode was deposited by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method, where micro polystyrene spheres (PSs) were added for co-deposition. Applied with heat treatment, a hierarchical porosity is left in the electrode which is beneficial for supercapacitor application. In terms of charge and discharge performance, we discussed the optimal CNT/Graphene ratio, macroporous ratio, and the effect of Co3O4 addition on electrode capacitance. For materials characterization, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction, and BET were applied, while cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronopotentiometry (CP) measurements, and Ragone plot were applied as in-situ analyses. Based on this, the effects of PS amount on the structure, porosity and their effect on capacitance of the electrodes were investigated. Finally, the full device performance was examined with charge-discharge and electron impedance spectrum (EIS) methods. The results show that the EPD coating with hierarchical porosity was successfully demonstrated in this study. As a result, the capacitance was greatly enhanced by 2.6 times with the hierarchical structure. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=supercapacitor" title="supercapacitor">supercapacitor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanocarbon%20tub" title=" nanocarbon tub"> nanocarbon tub</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graphene" title=" graphene"> graphene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal%20oxide" title=" metal oxide"> metal oxide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107788/direct-electrophoretic-deposition-of-hierarchical-structured-electrode-supercapacitor-application" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107788.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">834</span> A Study of Rapid Replication of Square-Microlens Structures</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ting-Ting%20Wen">Ting-Ting Wen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jung-Ruey%20Tsai"> Jung-Ruey Tsai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper reports a method for the replication of micro-scale structures. Given these robust evidences, TPS might be an adjunct treatment options in neuropsychiatric disorders, for example, autism spectrum disorder (ASD) – which is a common neurodevelopmental disorder in children. This trial aimed to investigate the effects of TPS on right temporoparietal junction, a key node for social cognition for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and to examine the association between TPS, executive functions and social functions. Design: This trial adopted a two-armed (verum TPS group vs. sham TPS group), double-blinded, randomized, sham-controlled design. Sampling: 32 subjects aged between 12 and 17, diagnosed with ASD were recruited. All subjects were computerized randomized into either verum TPS group or the sham TPS group on a 1:1 ratio. All subjects undertook functional MRI before and after the TPS interventions. Intervention: Six 30-min TPS sessions were administered to subjects in 2 weeks’ time on alternate days assessing neural connectivity changes. Baseline measurements and post-TPS evaluation of the ASD symptoms, executive functions, and social functions were conducted. Participants were followed up at 2-weeks, at 1-month and 3-month, assessing the short-and long-term sustainability of the TPS intervention. Data analysis: Generalized Estimating Equations with repeated measures were used to analyze the group and time difference. Missing data were managed by multiple imputations. The level of significance was set at p < 0.05. To our best knowledge, this is the first study evaluating the efficacy and safety of TPS among adolescents with ASD in Hong Kong and nationwide. Results emerging from this study will develop insight on whether TPS can be used as an adjunct treatment on ASD in neuroscience and clinical psychiatry. Therefore, developing strategies to acquire more talents is crucial. Talents are mainly attracted by both internal and external employer brands as well as by the messages conveyed from the employer image. This not only manifests the importance of a brand and an image of an organization but shows people might be affected by their personal values when assessing an organization as an employer. The goal of the present study is to examine the association between employer brand, employer image, and the likelihood of increasing organizational attractiveness. In addition, we draw from social identity theory to propose value congruence may affect the relationship between employer brand and employer image. Data was collected from those people who only worked less than a year in the industry via an online survey (N=209). The results show that employer image partly mediates the effect of employer brand on organizational attractiveness. In addition, the results also suggest that value congruence does not moderate the relationship between employer brand and employer image. These findings explain why building a good employer brand could enhance organization attractiveness and indicate there should be other factors that may affect employer image building, offering directions for future research. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organizational%20attractiveness" title="organizational attractiveness">organizational attractiveness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=employer%20brand" title=" employer brand"> employer brand</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=employer%20image" title=" employer image"> employer image</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=value%20congruence" title=" value congruence"> value congruence</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157428/exploring-the-relationship-between-employer-brand-and-organizational-attractiveness-the-mediating-role-of-employer-image-and-the-moderating-role-of-value-congruence" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157428.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">136</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">831</span> Astaxanthin Induces Cytotoxicity through Down-Regulating Rad51 Expression in Human Lung Cancer Cells</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jyh-Cheng%20Chen">Jyh-Cheng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tai-Jing%20Wang"> Tai-Jing Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yun-Wei%20Lin"> Yun-Wei Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Astaxanthin has been demonstrated to exhibit a wide range of beneficial effects including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. However, the molecular mechanism of astaxanthin-induced cytotoxicity in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells has not been identified. Rad51 plays a central role in homologous recombination and high levels of Rad51 expression are observed in chemo- or radioresistant carcinomas. In this study, astaxanthin treatment inhibited cell viability and proliferation of two NSCLC cells, A549 and H1703. Treatment with astaxanthin decreased Rad51 expression and phospho-AKT protein level in a time and dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, expression of constitutively active AKT (AKT-CA) vector significantly rescued the decreased Rad51 protein and mRNA levels in astaxanthin-treated NSCLC cells. Combined treatment with PI3K inhibitors (LY294002 or wortmannin) and astaxanthin further decreased the Rad51 expression in NSCLC cells. Knockdown of Rad51 enhanced astaxanthin-induced cytotoxicity and growth inhibition in NSCLC cells. These findings may have implications for the rational design of future drug regimens incorporating astaxanthin for the treatment of NSCLC. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=astaxanthin" title="astaxanthin">astaxanthin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cytotoxicity" title=" cytotoxicity"> cytotoxicity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AKT" title=" AKT"> AKT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-small%20cell%20lung%20cancer" title=" non-small cell lung cancer"> non-small cell lung cancer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PI3K" title=" PI3K"> PI3K</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42079/astaxanthin-induces-cytotoxicity-through-down-regulating-rad51-expression-in-human-lung-cancer-cells" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42079.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">297</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">830</span> High Density Polyethylene Biocomposites Reinforced with Hydroxyapatite Nanorods and Carbon Nanofibers for Joint Replacements</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chengzhu%20Liao">Chengzhu Liao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jianbo%20Zhang"> Jianbo Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haiou%20Wang"> Haiou Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Ming"> Jing Ming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huili%20Li"> Huili Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yanyan%20Li"> Yanyan Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hua%20Cheng"> Hua Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sie%20Chin%20Tjong"> Sie Chin Tjong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Since Bonfield’s group’s pioneer work, there has been growing interest amongst the materials scientists, biomedical engineers and surgeons in the use of novel biomaterials for the treatment of bone defects and injuries. This study focuses on the fabrication, mechanical characterization and biocompatibility evaluation of high density polyethylene (HDPE) reinforced with hydroxyapatite nanorods (HANR) and carbon nanofibers (CNF). HANRs of 20 wt% and CNFs of 0.5-2 wt% were incorporated into HDPE to form biocomposites using traditional melt-compounding and injection molding techniques. The mechanical measurements show that CNF additions greatly improve the tensile strength and Young’s modulus of HDPE and HDPE-20% nHA composites. Meanwhile, the nHA and CNF fillers were found to be effective to improve dimensional and thermal stability of HDPE. The results of osteoblast cell cultivation and dimethyl thiazolyl diphenyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) tests showed that the HDPE/ CNF-nHA nanocomposites are biocompatible. Such HDPE/ CNF-nHA hybrids are found to be potential biomaterials for making orthopedic joint/bone replacements. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biocompatibility" title="biocompatibility">biocompatibility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biocomposite" title=" biocomposite"> biocomposite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20nanofiber" title=" carbon nanofiber"> carbon nanofiber</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20density%20polyethylene" title=" high density polyethylene"> high density polyethylene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydroxyapatite" title=" hydroxyapatite"> hydroxyapatite</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61223/high-density-polyethylene-biocomposites-reinforced-with-hydroxyapatite-nanorods-and-carbon-nanofibers-for-joint-replacements" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61223.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">303</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">829</span> Estimating X-Ray Spectra for Digital Mammography by Using the Expectation Maximization Algorithm: A Monte Carlo Simulation Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chieh-Chun%20Chang">Chieh-Chun Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Ting%20Shih"> Cheng-Ting Shih</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yan-Lin%20Liu"> Yan-Lin Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Jun%20Chang"> Shu-Jun Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jay%20Wu"> Jay Wu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the widespread use of digital mammography (DM), radiation dose evaluation of breasts has become important. X-ray spectra are one of the key factors that influence the absorbed dose of glandular tissue. In this study, we estimated the X-ray spectrum of DM using the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm with the transmission measurement data. The interpolating polynomial model proposed by Boone was applied to generate the initial guess of the DM spectrum with the target/filter combination of Mo/Mo and the tube voltage of 26 kVp. The Monte Carlo N-particle code (MCNP5) was used to tally the transmission data through aluminum sheets of 0.2 to 3 mm. The X-ray spectrum was reconstructed by using the EM algorithm iteratively. The influence of the initial guess for EM reconstruction was evaluated. The percentage error of the average energy between the reference spectrum inputted for Monte Carlo simulation and the spectrum estimated by the EM algorithm was -0.14%. The normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) and the normalized root max square error (NRMaSE) between both spectra were 0.6% and 2.3%, respectively. We conclude that the EM algorithm with transmission measurement data is a convenient and useful tool for estimating x-ray spectra for DM in clinical practice. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20mammography" title="digital mammography">digital mammography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=expectation%20maximization%20algorithm" title=" expectation maximization algorithm"> expectation maximization algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=X-Ray%20spectrum" title=" X-Ray spectrum"> X-Ray spectrum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=X-Ray" title=" X-Ray"> X-Ray</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3616/estimating-x-ray-spectra-for-digital-mammography-by-using-the-expectation-maximization-algorithm-a-monte-carlo-simulation-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3616.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">730</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">828</span> Triadic Relationship of Icon Design for Semi-Literate Communities</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng-Hui%20Maffee%20Wan">Peng-Hui Maffee Wan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Klarissa%20Ting%20Ting%20Chang"> Klarissa Ting Ting Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rax%20Suen%20Chun%20Lung"> Rax Suen Chun Lung</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Icons, or pictorial and graphical objects, are commonly used in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) fields as the mediator in order to communicate information to users. Yet there has been little studies focusing on a majority of the world’s population, semi-literate communities, in terms of the fundamental know-how for designing icons for such population. In this study, two sets of icons belonging in different icon taxonomy, abstract and concrete are designed for a mobile application for semi-literate agricultural communities. In this paper, we propose a triadic relationship of an icon, namely meaning, task and mental image, which inherits the triadic relationship of a sign. User testing with the application and a post-pilot questionnaire are conducted as the experimental approach in two rural villages in India. Icons belonging to concrete taxonomy perform better than abstract icons on the premise that the design of the icon fulfills the underlying rules of the proposed triadic relationship. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=icon" title="icon">icon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GUI" title=" GUI"> GUI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20app" title=" mobile app"> mobile app</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semi-literate" title=" semi-literate"> semi-literate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30681/triadic-relationship-of-icon-design-for-semi-literate-communities" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30681.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">489</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">827</span> Enhancement of Light Out Efficiency of PLED Device Employing Designed Substrate Combined with Nano-Line Patterns</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ting-Ting%20Wen">Ting-Ting Wen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20C.%20Lin"> H. The designed substrate was made by UV imprinting technology, such as triangular microlens arrays on the front and periodic corrugated patterns on the back surface. The nano-line patterns in PLED device was fabricated by advanced microstamping and ink-jet printing techniques. For high angles of observation with respect to the substrate surface normal, the light out intensity of the developed PLED device is increased from 0.05 (a.u.) up to 0.69 (a.u.) at the view angle 85 degree. The designed integration leads to 64% increase of the light out intensity compared with the conventional PLED device. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=triangular%20microlens" title="triangular microlens">triangular microlens</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corrugation%20patterns" title=" corrugation patterns"> corrugation patterns</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nano-line%20patterns" title=" nano-line patterns"> nano-line patterns</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PLED%20device" title=" PLED device"> PLED device</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UV%20imprinting%20technology" title=" UV imprinting technology"> UV imprinting technology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microstamping" title=" microstamping"> microstamping</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17239/enhancement-of-light-out-efficiency-of-pled-device-employing-designed-substrate-combined-with-nano-line-patterns" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17239.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">478</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">826</span> Combining an Optimized Closed Principal Curve-Based Method and Evolutionary Neural Network for Ultrasound Prostate Segmentation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tao%20Peng">Tao Peng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Zhao"> Jing Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yanqing%20Xu"> Yanqing Xu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Cai"> Jing Cai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Due to missing/ambiguous boundaries between the prostate and neighboring structures, the presence of shadow artifacts, as well as the large variability in prostate shapes, ultrasound prostate segmentation is challenging. We investigated the physical and microscopic properties of fresh concrete while adjusting several of the fabrication parameters, such as the constituent makeup and thickness of RFA pre-coatings. The study is divided into two parts. The first part involves mortar testing in which the RFA used for coating had a water/cement ratio of 0.5 and fly ash, slag, and PVA viscosity of 5~6cps, 21~26cps, 25~30cps, or 44~50cps. In these tests, 100% of the natural fine aggregate was replaced by RCA. The second part of the study involved the mixing of concrete with 25% FRA, which was respectively coated with fly ash, slag, or PVA at a viscosity of 44~50cps. In these tests, the water/cement ratio was either .4 or 0.6. The major findings in this study are summarized as follows: Coating RFA coated with fly ash and PVA was shown to increase flow in the fresh concrete; however, the coating of FRA with slag resulted in a slight decrease in flow. Coating FRA with slag was shown to improve the compressive and splitting strength to a greater degree than that achieved by coating FRA with fly ash and PVA. The mechanical properties of concrete mixed with slag were shown to increase with the thickness of the coating. Coating FRA with slag was also shown to enhance the durability of the concrete, regardless of the water/cement ratio. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recycled%20fine%20aggregates" title="recycled fine aggregates">recycled fine aggregates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pre-coated" title=" pre-coated"> pre-coated</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fly%20ash" title=" fly ash"> fly ash</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=slag" title=" slag"> slag</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pre-coated%20thickness" title=" pre-coated thickness"> pre-coated thickness</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38085/mechanical-properties-and-durability-of-concretes-manufactured-using-pre-coated-recycled-fine-aggregate" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38085.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">324</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">824</span> The Effect of Metal-Organic Framework Pore Size to Hydrogen Generation of Ammonia Borane via Nanoconfinement</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing-Yang%20Chung">Jing-Yang Chung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chi-Wei%20Liao"> Chi-Wei Liao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Li"> Jing Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bor%20Kae%20Chang"> Bor Kae Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Yu%20Wang"> Cheng-Yu Wang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Chemical hydride ammonia borane (AB, NH3BH3) draws attentions to hydrogen energy researches for its high theoretical gravimetrical capacity (19.6 wt%). Nevertheless, the elevated AB decomposition temperatures (Td) and unwanted byproducts are main hurdles in practical application. It was reported that the byproducts and Td can be reduced with nanoconfinement technique, in which AB molecules are confined in porous materials, such as porous carbon, zeolite, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), etc. Although nanoconfinement empirically shows effectiveness on hydrogen generation temperature reduction in AB, the theoretical mechanism is debatable. Low Td was reported in AB@IRMOF-1 (Zn4O(BDC)3, BDC = benzenedicarboxylate), where Zn atoms form closed metal clusters secondary building unit (SBU) with no exposed active sites. Other than nanosized hydride, it was also observed that catalyst addition facilitates AB decomposition in the composite of Li-catalyzed carbon CMK-3, MOF JUC-32-Y with exposed Y3+, etc. It is believed that nanosized AB is critical for lowering Td, while active sites eliminate byproducts. Nonetheless, some researchers claimed that it is the catalytic sites that are the critical factor to reduce Td, instead of the hydride size. The group physically ground AB with ZIF-8 (zeolitic imidazolate frameworks, (Zn(2-methylimidazolate)2)), and found similar reduced Td phenomenon, even though AB molecules were not ‘confined’ or forming nanoparticles by physical hand grinding. It shows the catalytic reaction, not nanoconfinement, leads to AB dehydrogenation promotion. In this research, we explored the possible criteria of hydrogen production temperature from nanoconfined AB in MOFs with different pore sizes and active sites. MOFs with metal SBU such as Zn (IRMOF), Zr (UiO), and Al (MIL-53), accompanying with various organic ligands (BDC and BPDC; BPDC = biphenyldicarboxylate) were modified with AB. Excess MOFs were used for AB size constrained in micropores estimated by revisiting Horvath-Kawazoe model. AB dissolved in methanol was added to MOFs crystalline with MOF pore volume to AB ratio 4:1, and the slurry was dried under vacuum to collect AB@MOF powders. With TPD-MS (temperature programmed desorption with mass spectroscopy), we observed Td was reduced with smaller MOF pores. For example, it was reduced from 100°C to 64°C when MOF micropore ~1 nm, while ~90°C with pore size up to 5 nm. The behavior of Td as a function of AB crystalline radius obeys thermodynamics when the Gibbs free energy of AB decomposition is zero, and no obvious correlation with metal type was observed. In conclusion, we discovered Td of AB is proportional to the reciprocal of MOF pore size, possibly stronger than the effect of active sites. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ammonia%20borane" title="ammonia borane">ammonia borane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chemical%20hydride" title=" chemical hydride"> chemical hydride</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal-organic%20framework" title=" metal-organic framework"> metal-organic framework</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoconfinement" title=" nanoconfinement"> nanoconfinement</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72206/the-effect-of-metal-organic-framework-pore-size-to-hydrogen-generation-of-ammonia-borane-via-nanoconfinement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72206.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">186</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">823</span> Polymerspolyaniline/CMK-3/Hydroquinone Composite Electrode for Supercapacitor Application</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hu-Cheng%20Weng">Hu-Cheng Weng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jhen-Ting%20Huang"> Jhen-Ting Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Chia%20Chang"> Chia-Chia Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=An-Ya%20Lo"> An-Ya Lo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, carbon mesoporous material, CMK-3, was adopted as supporting material for electroactive polymerspolyaniline (PANI), polyaniline, for supercapacitor application, where hydroquinone (HQ) was integrated to enhance the redox reaction of PANI. The results show that the addition of PANI improves the capacitance of electrode from 89 F/g (CMK-3) to 337 F/g (PANI/CMK-3), the addition of HQ furtherly improves the capacitance to 463 F/g (PANI/CMK-3/HQ). The PANI provides higher energy density and also acts as binder of the electrode; the CMK-3 provides higher electron double layer capacitance EDLC and stabilize the polyaniline by its highly porosity. With the addition of HQ, the capacitance of PANI/CMK-3 was further enhanced. In-situ analyses including cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronopotentiometry (CP), electron impedance spectrum (EIS) analyses were applied for electrode performance examination. For materials characterization, the crystal structure, morphology, microstructure, and porosity were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and 77K N2 adsorption/desorption analyses, respectively. The effects of electrolyte pH value, PANI polymerization time, HQ concentration, and PANI/CMK-3 ratio on capacitance were discussed. The durability was also studied by long-term operation test. The results show that PANI/CMK-3/HQ with great potential for supercapacitor application. Finally, the potential of all-solid PANI/CMK-3/HQ based supercapacitor was successfully demonstrated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CMK3" title="CMK3">CMK3</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PANI" title=" PANI"> PANI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=redox%20electrolyte" title=" redox electrolyte"> redox electrolyte</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solid%20supercapacitor" title=" solid supercapacitor"> solid supercapacitor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107789/polymerspolyanilinecmk-3hydroquinone-composite-electrode-for-supercapacitor-application" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107789.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">822</span> The Study of Aluminum Effects Layer Austenite Twins Adjacent to K-Carbide Plates in the Cellular Structure of a Mn-Al Alloy Steel</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wu%20Wei-Ting">Wu Wei-Ting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liu%20Po-Yen"> Liu Po-Yen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang%20Chin-Tzu"> Chang Chin-Tzu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng%20Wei-Chun"> Cheng Wei-Chun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Three types of low-temperature phase transformations in an Fe-12.5 Mn-6.53 Al-1.28 C (wt %) alloy have been studied. The steel underwent solution heat treatment at 1100℃ and isothermal holding at low temperatures. γ’ phase appears in the austenite matrix in the air-cooled steel. Coherent ultra-fine particles of γ’ phase precipitated uniformly in the austenite matrix after the air-cooling process. These ultra-fine particles were very small and only could be detected by TEM through dark-field images. After short periods of isothermal holding at low temperatures these particles of γ’ phase grew and could be easily detected by TEM. A pro-eutectoid reaction happened after isothermal holding at temperatures below 875 ℃. Proeutectoid κ-carbide and ferrite appear in the austenite matrix as grain boundary precipitates and cellular precipitates. The cellular precipitates are composed of lamellar κ-carbide and austenite. The lamellar κ-carbide grains are always accompanied by layers of austenite twins. The presence of twin layers adhering to the κ-carbide plates might be attributed to the lower activation energy for the precipitation of κ-carbide plates in the austenite. The final form of phase transformation is the eutectoid reaction for the decomposition of supersaturated austenite into stable κ-carbide and ferrite phases at temperatures below 700℃. The ferrite and κ-carbide are in the form of pearlite lamellae. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=austenite" title="austenite">austenite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=austenite%20twin%20layers" title=" austenite twin layers"> austenite twin layers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%CE%BA-carbide" title=" κ-carbide"> κ-carbide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=twins" title=" twins"> twins</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72110/the-study-of-aluminum-effects-layer-austenite-twins-adjacent-to-k-carbide-plates-in-the-cellular-structure-of-a-mn-al-alloy-steel" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72110.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">227</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">821</span> Sustainability of Performing Venues Considering Urban Connectivity and Facility Utilization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei-Hwa%20Chiang">Wei-Hwa Chiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei-Ting%20Hsu"> Wei-Ting Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuan-Chi%20Liu"> Yuan-Chi Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Che%20Tsai"> Cheng-Che Tsai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A sustainable built environment aims for minimizing both regional and global environmental impact while maintaining a healthy living for individuals. Sustainability of performing venues has rarely been discussed when compared with residential, office, and other popular building types. Life-cycle carbon emission due to the high standard requirements in acoustics, stage engineering, HVAC, and building structure need to be carefully examined. This can be complicated by social-economic and cultural concerns in addition to technical excellence. This paper reported case-based study and statistics of performing venues regarding urban connectivity and spatial layouts in enhancing facility usage and promoting cultural vitality. Interviews conducted for a major venue at Taipei indicated high linkage with surrounding leisure activity and the need for quality pedestrian and additional spaces open to the general public. Statistics of venues with various size and function suggested the possibility and strategies limit the size and height of reception and foyer spaces, and to maximize their use when there are no performances. Design strategies are identified to increase visual contact or facility sharing between the artists and the audience or the general public in reducing facility size and promoting potential involvement in cultural activities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title="sustainability">sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performing%20venue" title=" performing venue"> performing venue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=design" title=" design"> design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=operation" title=" operation"> operation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97305/sustainability-of-performing-venues-considering-urban-connectivity-and-facility-utilization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97305.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">121</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">820</span> Effect of Far Infrared and Endothelial Cell Growth Supplement on Human Umbilical Vascular Endothelial Cells</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Tzu%20Tsai">Ming-Tzu Tsai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jui-Ting%20Hsu"> Jui-Ting Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Chieh%20Lin"> Chia-Chieh Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Feng-Tsai%20Chiang"> Feng-Tsai Chiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Chin%20Huang"> Cheng-Chin Huang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Far infrared (FIR), an invisible and short electromagnetic waves ranges from 6-14 μm also defines as the “growth ray.” Although the mechanism of FIR is still unknown, most data have suggested that FIR could accelerate the skin microcirculation by elevating the blood flow and nitric-oxide (NO) synthesis. In this present work, the effect of FIR irradiation and endothelial cell growth supplement (ECGS) on human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) was evaluated. To understand whether the cell viability and NO production of HUVECs affected by NO, cells with/without ECGS were treated in the presence or absence of L-NAME, an eNOS inhibitor. For FIR exposure, FIR-emitted ceramic powders consisted of a variety of well-mixed metal oxides were developed. The results showed that L-NAME did had a strong effect on the inhibition of NO production, especially in the ECGS-treated group. However, the cell viability of each group was rarely affected in the presence of L-NAME. Cells with the incubation of ECGS showed much higher cell viability compared to the control. Moreover, NO production of HUVECs exposed to FIR irradiation was significantly inhibited in the presence of L-NAME. It suggested that NO could play a role modulating the downstream signals of HUVECs during FIR exposure. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
