The two different experiential designs were varying the concentration and varying the temperature. For this experiment, we followed the procedure in the Biology for Major Laboratory Manual (page 33-44). The experiment begins when the membrane is added into the beaker and ends at the 25 minutes of the last sample. The first experimental design that my lab group and I worked on was varying the concentration that was done on the first week. Three different concentrations of serial dilutions of KMnO4 were made when the concentration was varied. First, three test tubes and 4mls of water was added to each test tube. 1ml of 500 mM KmnO4 solution was added to the first tube. Then 1ml was removed from test tube 1 and put<a data-href=/writing/document/3F30A68017F8EB2C class="document__middle white-space--normal source-serif text-l" rel="nofollow" style="cursor:pointer;white-space: normal;"> <i>&hellip;show more content&hellip;</i> </a></p></span><span class="document__preview text-l source-serif "><p class='text-ellipsis-after'>Three different dialysis tubing was acquired with 2mls of the different concentration of KMnO4 and then clamped the dialysis. The speed of the all three stirring plates was set to 5 and before adding the dialysis tubing; a sample of water was used for a blank. Then at the same time the dialysis tubes were put into the water and the string was taped onto the glass so it would not move around the bleaker. Lastly, the timer was started and every five minutes 1ml of solution was removed and placed in a cuvette to measure the absorbance into the data. On the second week, we experimented the varying of the temperature. First two water baths that were located at the back each with a beaker of water 37 and 48 degree Celsius and on the table a beaker with a stir plate at room temperature. Second, three pieces of dialysis tubing was needed each were placed on a clamp, tying a knot with a string through the hole. The dialysis tubing was filled with 2mls of the 0.1 KMnO4 and sealed with a clamp so that the solution does not leak out. To measure the absorbance of water, a sample was taken from each</p></span></div><div class="paper__gradient paper__gradient--bottom"></div><div class="center paper__cta"><a class="button text-m button--orange" id="ShowMoreButton" rel="nofollow" data-href="/writing/document/3F30A68017F8EB2C">Get Access</a></div></div></div></div><div class="columns large-4 hide-for-medium-only hide-for-small-only"><div class="rhino-slot center" id="essay_ad_sidebar"></div><div class="rhino-slot center" id="essay_ad_sidebar_1"></div></div></div><div class="row essay-preview-block essay-related-block "><div class="columns large-12 padding-1 no-padding-large"><div class="columns large-12 paper--related-separator-new"><span class="paper--related-separator-word">Related</span></div><div class="rhino-slot center" id="essay_ad_related"></div><section class=""><ul id="RelatedDocumentCenter" class="unstyled"><li id="related-essay1"><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 large-12 card box-shadow card-grade-essay paper no-padding"><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 hide-for-large position-relative card-grade-essay-grade-col grade-decent-essays"><div><span>Decent Essays</span></div></div><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 position-relative hide-for-large card-grade-essay-words-col padding-left-1-imp"><a href="/essay/Station-Four-Lab-Report-AB7091912F6FB682" class="hide-for-large"><h2 class="heading-s weight-700 brand-secondary">Station Four Lab Report</h2></a><ul><li>986 Words</li><li>4 Pages</li></ul></div><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 large-8 position-relative"><div class="card-grade-essay-preview-col show-for-large"><a href="/essay/Station-Four-Lab-Report-AB7091912F6FB682" class="show-for-large"><h2 class="heading-s weight-700 brand-secondary">Station Four Lab Report</h2></a></div><p class="text-m break-word word-break text-ellipsis-after text-ellipsis-after">Station one: Station one shows that when a small piece of magnesium metal is placed over the flame of the Bunsen burner, the magnesium metal ignites, giving off a bright, white light. It was assumed that iodine, then water, followed by glucose and starch respectively, would have the most ease of movement, as they are in the order of size (least to greatest). Being an element, iodine is the most minuscule out of the four, as they are the building blocks for molecules, such as: water (H2O). As a result, iodine was able to move with ease through the dialysis tube from the beaker with water, which was indicated by the tints of black and purple in the dialysis tube, as a result of the reaction between this element and starch.
