It is expected that the attendance at the school should be around 50 to 100 participants.</p> <p><strong>Dates and Length</strong>: The IEEE <strong>Seasonal</strong> School on Nanotechnology will be held in any month from February to November of 2025. The competition encourages students to employ creative problem solving and gain practical design experience by developing small samples, synthesis and characterization methodologies, novel software, simple prototypes or systems to address some interesting problems and work on hot topics that will be announced soon.</p> <p><strong>All students (B.Sc., M.Sc. PhD) or student teams are invited to participate in the IEEE NANO 2025 NANO-SDC ‼️</strong></p> <p><strong>How it works:</strong></p> <p>• Submit your paper by 1st March, opting out that you are willing to participate in the NANO SDC<br /> • Get your paper accepted for IEEE NANO 2025<br /> • Submit a competition application form no later than 1st April 2024<br /> • Work on the design project to advance and go beyond the paper submitted to the conference (EXTRA WORK IS NEEDED)<br /> • Bring your amazing designs (e.g., software, prototypes, sensors, GUI, etc.) to the competition and It can also be the subject of a great deal of hype and exaggerated claims. This webinar will offer a practical view of the technology, beginning with a brief, accessible, introduction to the unusual physics harnessed by quantum processors, followed by a summary of the actual, practical technology currently available to the public and others, focusing on IBM Quantum’s offerings, then a short live demonstration (connectivity permitting) of interacting with the systems both via the web and Qiskit software libraries.</p> <p><strong>Bio:</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Kevin Roche is a research engineer at IBM Research Almaden, specializing in materials for magnetoelectronics, spintronics, and other related fields. He is an expert in ultra-high-vacuum systems and thin-film deposition, data acquisition and laboratory automation. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Kevin earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics at the University of California, Berkeley in 1983. He first joined IBM Research in 1982 as an American Physical Society intern; after completing his degree, he returned to IBM Research.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Since 2002, Kevin has been introducing and explicating his work in physics and materials science publicly, making it accessible to audiences with a wide range of technical education; he was a featured expert on magnetic levitation for Episode 4 of Science and Star Wars. In 2017 he added quantum computing concepts to that role and is now both an official IBM Quantum Ambassador and a Qiskit Advocate. Kevin has been a dedicated science fiction fan since he learned to read, and his hobbies include building bartending robots, designing and making costumes, and running science fiction conventions; he The nomination deadline is <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">1 October 2024</span>.</strong> The NTC has created a distinguished lecturers program to enhance the visibility of NTC among nanotechnology societies. The NTC Distinguished Lecturers are appointed to honor excellent speakers who have made technical, industrial or entrepreneurial contributions of high quality to the field of nanotechnology and science, and to enhance the technical activities of the Nanotechnology Council chapters and student branches. Consideration is given to having a well-balanced variety of speakers who can address a wide range of topics of current interest in the fields covered by the Society.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The term for the Lecturers is from <strong>1</strong> <strong>January until 31 December of 2025</strong>. The Lecturers serve for a one-year term and may be reappointed for one additional year with the approval of the NTC Distinguished Lecturer Committee. A budget will be provided to each Lecturer to give lectures for NTC Chapters and Branches based on the availability of funding through the NTC.
