The words we use in conversation have the power to build up or to tear down. James 3 has something to say about that. Words are also important as we seek to witness. Sharing a smile is one thing. Sharing some words is a completely different thing. There's a phrase that is commonly attributed to Francis of Assisi: <em>"Preach the gospel and if necessary, use words."</em> As much as I understand the sentiment, I would like to submit an alternate phrase, <em>"Preach the gospel and use words, they're necessary!"</em> We can communicate something of the beauty of Christ by our life to be sure, but how much better to communicate the actual words of life.</p> <p>Dr. John Vaughn has written a book entitled, <a href="https://store.sermonaudio.com/products/conversations" target="_blank" ><strong>Conversations—How to Engage in Gospel Conversations</strong></a>.
