تايمز الأمريكية النقاب خلال تقريرها الصادر في الذكرى التاسعة لاحتلال العراق عن النتائج الكارثية والمدمرة على الشعب العراقي عموما وعلى الأطفال خصوصا بسبب اليورانيوم المنضب. <br/>وأكد التقرير ان نسبة التشوهات الخلقية إرتفعت الى أعلى مستوياتها في المناطق التي شهدت عمليات عسكرية أمريكية وان من بين كل الف طفل 95 طفل منهم لديهم تشوهات أو إصابات خطيرة وأن فيلما مصورا يشير لأطفال حديثي الولادة يعانون من عيوب خلقية شديدة بالعراق. <br/>وقال التقرير إنه تم الحصول على صور ايضا لتشوهات أخرى يتعذر بثها بسبب شدتها، بما فيها صورة لطفل بثلاثة رؤوس وصورة طفل بستة أصابع وآخر بذراع واحدة فيما اكد أطباء عراقيون ارتفاعا بعدد الأطفال الذين يولدون بتشوهات في القناة العصبية، فيما بين التقرير ان استخدام الفسفور الأبيض من قبل الجنود الأمريكيان للتخلص من مواقع الأعداء رغم أنهم يقولون إنهم لم يستخدموا تلك المادة <p>واصلت وسائل الاعلام المختلفة التي تراقب الشأن العراقي، تسليط الضوء على الجرائم الوحشية والانتهاكات الصارخة لحقوق الانسان التي ارتكبتها الادارة الامريكية ضد العراقيين الابرياء خلال السنوات التسع الماضية، ولا سيما جريمة الاسلحة المحرمة دوليا التي استخدمتها قوات الاحتلال الغازية ضد مدينة الفلوجة عام 2004</p> <p>والتي ما زال اهالي هذه المدينة المنكوبة يعانون من آثار تلك الاسلحة الفتاكة التي طالت حتى الاجنة في بطون امهاتها، في الوقت الذي يتوقع الباحثون في هذا المجال استمرار الولادات المشوهة في هذه المدينة، وغيرها من مدن العراق الى الاف السنين .فقد أكد شبكة دولية ان استخدام قوات الاحتلال الامريكية للاسلحة المحظورة في الفلوجة كبرى مدن محافظة الانبار ما زالت تتسبب في ولادات مشوهة وامراض خطيرة ولا سيما في صفوف الاطفال حديثي الولادة.ونقلت الانباء الصحفية عن شبكة ( الاتصالات والصحافة من اجل تغيير العالم ) قولها في تقرير اصدرته مؤخرا قولها : إن القائمين على مستشفى الفلوجة العام لا يستطيعون اعطاء احصاءات دقيقة باعداد الأطفال الذي ولدوا بتشوهات خلقية خلال الاعوام التي اعقبت الهجوم الامريكي على هذه المدينة، لكنهم يؤكدون إن أعدادهم كبيرة، في الوقت الذي يرفض فيه الآباء الحديث عن مأساة اطفالهم .ونسبت الشبكة في تقريرها الى ( ناظم شكر الحديدي ) مدير مكتب إعلام مستشفى الفلوجة العام، قوله " أن العائلات المنكوبة تدفن مواليدها الجدد المشوهون بعد وفاتهم، دون الابلاغ تلك الحالات التي يعدونها مخجلة جدا بالنسبة لهم " .. موضحا ان المستشفى سجل في كانون الثاني الماضي (672) حالة، من الكثير من الحالات الكثيرة المشابهة التي لا تصل الى المستشفى .واكد ( الحديدي ) ان قوات الاحتلال الامريكية الهمجية جربت في عام 2004، كل انواع المواد الكيمياوية والمتفجرات والاسلحة الحرارية على ابناء مدينة الفلوجة كما استخدمت الاسلحة المحرمة دوليا كالفوسفور الأبيض، واليورانيوم المنضّب، الى الحد الذي كان جميع سكان هذه المدينة المنكوبة بمثابة فئران مختبر بالنسبة لتلك القوات المسعورة التي ارتكبت ابشع الجرائم والانتهاكات الصارخة لحقوق الانسان التي تتشدق زورا وبهتانا بحمايتها .واوضح التقرير ان ( الحديدي ) عرض صورا على جدار مكتبه، تظهر عددا من الاطفال حديثي الولادة المشوهون، بعضهم بدون دماغ، واخرين بدون عيون، أو ان أمعاءهم خارج بطونهم، كما عرض صورة نادرة لطفل ولد بدون اعضاء .. مشيرا الى انه من الصعوبة بمكان التحديق الدقيق في تلك الصور، التي حتى المسؤولين في المستشفى يغمضون عيونهم عند شرحهم لتلك الحالات .واعادت الشبكة الدولية في تقريرها الى الاذهان التظاهرات المناهضة للاحتلال الغاشم ولا سيما خلال الاشهر القليلة التي اعقبت دخول القوات الامريكية الى العراق الجريح عام 2003، لكنها اكدت ان مدينة الفلوجة الواقعة على نهر الفرات، لم تشهد الأسوأ إلا في عام 2004، وتحديدا في الحادي والثلاثين من آذار، بعد اغتيال اربعة من عناصر شركة (بلاكووتر) سيئة الصيت المتعاقدة مع القوات الامريكية في المدينة ، والذين اعلنت ( القاعدة ) مسؤوليتها عن اغتيالهم، الا ان سكان هذه المدينة دفعوا الثمن غاليا خلال عملية اطلقت عليها وزارة الحرب الامريكية ( البنتاغون ) اسم ( الشبح الغاضب ) حيث شهدت مدينة الفلوجة أكبر معركة لم يشهدها العالم منذ معركة مدينة ( هيو ) الفيتنامية عام 1968.واشار التقرير الى ان الهجوم الثاني الذي شنتها قوات الاحتلال الامريكية في تشرين الثاني عام 2004، كان اسوأ بكثير من الهجوم الاول الذي شهدته الفلوجة في نيسان من العام نفسه، اذ شنت تلك القوات الغازية عمليات دهم وتفتيش طالت معظم منازل المواطنين، قبل ان تنفذ عمليات القصف الليلي المكثف، الذي تسبب بتدمير هائل لم تزل آثاره شاهدة على تلك الجريمة النكراء.وفندت الشبكة المزاعم التي اطلقها المسؤولون في الادارة الامريكية التي ادعوا فيها ان قوات الاحتلال استخدمت الفسفور الابيض لإضاءة الاهداف خلال الليل، .. مشيرة الى ان مجموعة من الصحفيين الايطاليين سرعان ما قدمت دليلا وثائقيا على ان الفسفور الابيض كان نوع آخر من الاسلحة المحظورة التي استخدمتها تلك القوات ضد المدنيين في مدينة الفلوجة.كما نسبت الشبكة الدولية الى ( عبد القادر الراوي ) احد الاطباء العاملين في مستشفى الفلوجة العام، ـ الذي كان عائدا للتو من فحص حالة ولادة جديدة مثيرة للاعصاب ـ قوله " ان هذه البنت ولدت بمتلازمة (داندي وولكر) حيث ان دماغها منقسم الى نصفين، وأشك في انها ستعيش " .. موضحا ان متلازمة ( داندي وولكر ) هي تشوه دماغ ولادي يشمل المخيخ، مع وجود سائل يملأ الفراغات المحيطة به.واشارت الشبكة إلى دراسة نشرتها ( المجلة الدولية لبحوث البيئة والصحة العامة ) التي تتخذ من سويسرا مقرا لها، في تموز عام 2010، جاء فيها ان ( زيادة معدلات الاصابة بالسرطان، واللوكيميا ووفيات الرضع ونسبة اضطرابات الجنس لدى المواليد بين صفوف الناس العاديين في الفلوجة، اكبر بكثير من تلك التي شهدها الناجون من القنبلتين النوويتين اللتين القتهما امريكا على مدينتي ( هيروشيما وناغازاكي ) خلال عام 1945" .. موضحة ان الباحثين اكتشفوا بان هناك زيادة في الإصابة بامراض اللوكيميا في الفلوجة بنحو ( 38 ) مرة مما شهدته المدينيتين اليابانيتين المذكورتين، كما وصف محللون سياسيون معروفون هذه الاستنتاجات بأنها اكثر اثارة للحرج مما سربه موقع ويكيليكس عن افغانستان.من جهتها كشفت الدكتورة ( سميرة العاني ) رئيسة اطباء في مستشفى الفلوجة العام ـ اشتركت في دراسة اجريت بتعاون وثيق مع منظمة الصحة العالمية ـ في تصريح للشبكة الدولية النقاب عن وجود كميات كبيرة من اليورانيوم والزئبق، في جذور شعر المصابين من ابناء الفلوجة خلال الفحوصات التي اجريت في لندن، ما يؤكد اتساع نسبة المشكلات الخلقية الولادية في هذه المدينة التي تعرضت لاسلحة محظورة دوليا .وشددت الشبكة في ختام تقريرها على إن استخدام قوات الاحتلال الامريكية لليوانيوم المنضب (DU)، وهو من العناصر المشعة، اضافة الى الفسفور الابيض، الذي يزيد كثيرا من قدرة تغلغل الشظايا في الجسم، سيبقى فعالا لمدة تصل الى اربعة مليارات و (500) عام .. لافتة الانتباه الى ان المهندسين العسكريين وصفوا هذا السلاح الفتاك بانه القاتل الصامت الذي لا يتوقف ابدا عن القتل.الجدير بالذكر ان شبكة ( الاتصالات والصحافة من اجل تغيير العالم)، هي منظمة صحفية دولية تركز على وزيرها الجديد اعترفت وزارة الصحة العراقية بوجود ارتفاع في نسب الاصابة بالسرطان في البلاد بعد ان كانت تتجنب الاشارة الى الامر بصورة مباشرة وربما جاء ذلك على خلفية المراكز التي افتتحت لعلاج المرض في انحاء مختلفة من البلاد ضمن برامج وضعت مسبقاً <br/>النساء كان لهن الحصة الاكبر من معدلات الاصابة بالسرطان اذ تشير الإحصاءات الى ان الاصابة بسرطان الثدي باتت تحتل ثلث اصابات أورام وامراض السرطان في البلاد بينما تقف المفاهيم الاجتماعية الخاطئة حجر عثرة امام الكشف المبكر عن تلك الاصابات. <br/>وبحسب عدد من المصابات بالمرض فان الكشف المبكر عن الاورام التي اصبن بها وقاهن من تحول تلك الاورام الى سرطانات كان من الممكن ان تودي بحياتهن. <br/>ويأتي ازدياد حالات الاصابة بسرطان الثدي في العراق بالتزامن مع ظهور سرطانات لم تكن شائعة فيه كسرطان الدماغ والكبد وتتركز اغلب اصابات البلاد في مناطق البصرة وذي قار وميسان والسليمانية التي تشير الاحصاءات إلى ان ثمانية عشرة بالمئة من سكانها مصابون او معرضون للاصابة بالمرض الذي يحتاج الى امكانات كبيرة ومتطورة لعلاجه قد لا تتوفر بعد في العراق. </p> </div> birth defects in the Iraqi city of Falluja has for the first time concluded that genetic damage could have been caused by weaponry used in US assaults that took place six years ago.</p> <p>The research, which will be published next week, confirms earlier <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130129013931/http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/nov/13/falluja-cancer-children-birth-defects" class="external" target="_blank">estimates revealed by the Guardian of a major, unexplained rise in cancers and chronic neural-tube, cardiac and skeletal defects in newborns</a>. The authors found that malformations are close to 11 times higher than normal rates, and rose to unprecedented levels in the first half of this year – a period that had not been surveyed in earlier reports.</p> <p>The findings, which will be published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, come prior to a much-anticipated World Health Organisation study of Falluja’s genetic health. They follow two alarming earlier studies, one of which found a distortion in the sex ratio of newborns since the invasion of <a الاطفال دون 15 عاما، ارتفعت اربعة اضعاف".</p> <p>واكدت خلال الاحتفالية التي حضرها اباء وامهات الاطفال الذين فقد بعضهم شعر رأسه بسبب العلاج الكيمياوي، ان "معظم الحالات خطيرة، ما يعني ان املهم ضعيف بالبقاء على قيد الحياة".</p> <p>واشارت الطبيبة الى ان المستشفى الذي افتتح رسميا الخميس، بدعم دولي كان يعمل بشكل جزئي لعدة اشهر" قبل ذلك.</p> <p>وقالت "افتتاح المستشفى انجاز مهم. اشكر جميع الذين ساعدوا من اجل بنائه".</p> <p>واضافت انه "انجاز جيد جدا، لكننا ما زلنا بحاجة الى معدات متطورة ومختبرات وادوية كثيرة، نامل الحصول عليها لاحقا".</p> <p>وما زالت المستشفى لا تمتلك المعدات الطبية لمساعدة المرضى وبينهم منتظر ابن الثلاثة اعوام الذي كان يحدق بصمت بعينيه الخضراوين وهو بين ذراعي امه، ايناس.</p> <p>وقالت ايناس احمد انه "تم تشخيص اصابة منتظر بورم سرطاني قبل عام".</p> <p>واضافت "اخذناه الى ايران قبل اشهر، وفتحوا الورم هناك لمساعدته" ووضع الاطباء ابرة في وريد قدم الفتى لادخال الامصال والعلاج.</p> <p>وتابعت وهي ترفع رداءه البرتقالي الذي يحمل صورة "ميكي ماوس" للكشف عن فجوة عميقة في بطنه، ان الاطباء في ايران "قالوا انهم لايستطيعون فعل شيء ونحن الان نحاول نقله خارج العراق ربما الى تايلاند".</p> <p>واشارت الطبيبة جنان الى ان "تزايد حالات الاصابة بالسرطان في البصرة قد سجلتها دراسة اعدت هذا العام من قبل جامعة واشنطن في سياتل، باستخدام معلومات من قبلنا واخرى من مستشفى ابن غزوان التعليمي".</p> <p>ووجدت الدراسة ان حالة الاصابة باللوكيميا لدى الاطفال دون 15 عاما، قد تصاعدت تدريجيا منذ عام 1993 حتى 2007.</p> <p>واوضحت "لاحظنا ان حالات الاصابة بسرطان الدم لدى الاطفال بلغت 698، بين عام 1993 و 2007، لقد تراوحت بين 15 حالة اصابة في العام الاول و56 حالة في العام الاخير".</p> <p>ولفتت الانتباه الى ان "اعلى معدل للاصابات كان 97 حالة في عام 2006" وفقا للدراسة التي اعدت من قبل امي هاغوبيان و تم تاكارو ونشرت في "مجلة الصحة العامة" الاميركية.</p> <p>واكد الطبيب محمد كامل مساعد مدير المستشفى الجديد، ان "الدراسة اظهرت ان حالات الاصابة بسرطان الدم لدى الاطفال في البصرة ازدادت ثلاثة او اربعة اضعاف، لكنها لم تكشف عن السبب" وراء ذلك.</p> <p>وركزت التكهنات على التلوث الصناعي، والكميات الكبيرة من الغازات المنبعثة من ابار النفط في المحافظة الغنية بالابار النفطية، اضافة الى وقوع البصرة على خط المواجهة في الحروب الثلاث التي خاضها العراق.</p> <p>وخاض العراق في 1980-1988 حربا مع ايران ثم حرب الخليج الاولى عام 1991 اعقبها اجتياح العراق للاطاحة بنظام صدام حسين عام 2003.</p> <p>وتطرقت الدراسة التي اعدها تاكارو-هاغوبيان، الى "افتراض كون المواد المتفجرة التي تعرضت لها البصرة كانت سرطانية".</p> <p>واعتبرت الدراسة انه يصعب التكهن بنوع الاسلحة التي استخدمت في تلك الحروب ومن قبل صدام حسين لكبح الانتفاضة الشيعية في جنوب العراق عام 1991.</p> <p>وركزت بعض التكهنات، حول سبب ارتفاع حالات الاصابة باللوكيميا الى اليورانيوم المنضب الذي استخدمته الولايات المتحدة ودول التحالف في حرب عام 1991، لتحرير الكويت ولدى اجتياح العراق عام 2003.</p> <p>ولكن الدراسة لم تشمل العلاقة بين المعدن المشع والمشاكل الصحية.</p> hospital for children could not have opened in a needier location — since 1993, Basra province has seen a sharp rise in the incidence of childhood cancer.</p> <p>"Leukaemia among children under 15 has increased by about four times," said Dr. Janan Hasan of the Basra Children’s Hospital.</p> <p><a title="20101022_child_cancer_patient_Basrah_childrens_hospital by Gorillas Guides, on Flickr" not have a high survival rate," she told AFP on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, where hapless parents with sick children in tow, many with the tell-tale baldness of chemotherapy, clustered around the paediatrician.</p> <p>The facility, which was built with multinational assistance and funds, officially opened on Thursday but has been partially operational for several months, Hasan said.</p> <p>"This hospital is a very important achievement, and I thank everyone who helped build it," she said.</p> <p>"This is a very good effort, but we still do not have advanced equipment, labs and many medicines. We hope to acquire them over time."</p> <p>Three-year-old Muntadhar, his green eyes staring dolefully from his mother’s arms, is one of the patients the hospital cannot help because it does not have the equipment.</p> <p>Muntadhar, an intravenous insertion needle bandaged to his foot, was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour a year ago, his mother Inas Ahmed said.</p> <p>"We took him to Iran a few months ago and they cut him open to try to help him," she said, lifting his orange Mickey Mouse T-shirt to reveal a deep scar across his belly.</p> <p>"But they said they couldn’t help and now we are trying to take him abroad, maybe to Thailand," she said with a look of resignation. A hospital official said they were working through some charities to arrange the operation, which Muntadhar’s poor parents cannot afford.</p> <p>Halima Mukhtar, draped in a loose black veil that showed her traditionally tattooed face and hands, carried her four-year-old son Musa on her right shoulder.</p> <p>"Thank God for this hospital, otherwise I wouldn’t know where else to turn," she said, a bottle of medicine in one hand.</p> <p>"In this world I have only God and the people at this hospital," she added," as Musa, wearing flip-flops on his feet and a surgeon’s mask that covered most of his face, stared down blankly from his perch.</p> <p>Hasan said the increasing cases of cancer in Basra were best documented in a study published this year by the University of Washington in Seattle, conducted with input from her and the Ibn Ghazwan teaching hospital.</p> <p>The report found leukaemia in Basra among children under 15 had grown year to year from 1993-2007.</p> <p>"We observed 698 cases of childhood leukaemia between 1993 and 2007, ranging between 15 cases in the first year and 56 cases in the final year, reaching a peak of 97 cases in 2006," said the study, authored by Amy Hagopian and Tim Takaro, and published in the American Journal of Public Health.</p> <p>"Basra’s childhood leukemia rates compare unfavourably to those of neighbouring Kuwait and nearby Oman, as well as the US and the European Union and other countries," the study said.</p> <p>"The incidence of cancer is significantly higher in Basra province than in other parts of Iraq," said Mohammed Kamil, deputy director of the hospital.</p> <p>Speculation has focused on industrial pollution, the huge volumes of burning gas from oil wells in the energy-rich province, and Basra’s position in the frontline of wars in past three decades: the 1980-1988 conflict with Iran, the 1991 Gulf War and the US-led invasion that overthrew dictator Saddam Hussein.</p> <p>"We hypothesise that hazardous exposures during these wars may have been leukaemogenic," said the Hagopian-Takaro study.</p> <p>What weapons were actually used in those wars, and by Saddam himself against his own people to put down a 1991 Shiite uprising in the south, is anyone’s guess.</p> <p>Some of the conjecture has centred on depleted uranium weapons used by US and coalition forces in the 1991 war to liberate Kuwait and the 2003 US-led invasion.</p> <p>But in Iraq the possible link between the radioactive metal and health problems has not been proven.</p> <p>The hospital, decorated with portraits of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse prancing about with his girlfriend Minnie, was built with help from the United States, Spain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, the UN Development Programme and Project Hope.</p> <p>"This project will have a capability to serve the people of Iraq and its people and children of Iraq for many years to come," said Brigadier-General Randal Dragon, Deputy Commander for Support of new US estimate of the number of Iraqis killed seven years after the US-led invasion serves as a reminder that civilians are dying on a daily basis in Iraq, writes <b>Salah Hemeid</b></p> <p>Former US secretary of state Madeleine Albright’s famous quotation apparently justifying the deaths of half a million Iraqi children as a result of the Washington- backed and UN-imposed sanctions against Iraq in the 1990s has often been remembered as a cold-blooded assertion of US policy objectives.</p> <div style="border-right: black 1px solid; padding-right: 5px; border-top: black 1px solid; Holding The Feet Of His Father Baquba Hospital Morgue October 18 2006. </p> </p></div> <p>The aphorism came to mind again last week when US media reported that the United States had finally released its first official compilation of data on Iraqi casualties, more than seven years after its invasion of the country.</p> <p>The report, posted on the US Central Command website in July, drew little notice until last Thursday, when media outlets published details showing that 63,185 civilians and 13,754 members of the Iraqi security forces had been killed from early 2004 to August 2008.</p> <p>It is not clear why the figures did not include casualties from the immediate aftermath of the US-led invasion in 2003, or from the period after August 2008. It is not clear either how the data were compiled and using what methodology.</p> <p>The figures seem to represent a "policy engineered" anti-climax as the Obama administration, facing a mid- term election challenge, tries to bring an end to America’s misadventure in Iraq.</p> <p>The number of Iraqis killed during the US-led invasion and its aftermath has long been hotly debated, estimates ranging from fewer than 100,000 to more than a million.</p> <p>Knowing how these latest US figures were arrived at would speak volumes about how the United States is faring as it prepares to exit from Iraq.</p> <p>The casualty figures released by Washington are lower than those from Iraqi government sources. Last year, the Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights reported that 85,694 Iraqis, including military and police personnel, had been killed from the beginning of 2004 through to October 2008.</p> <p>In January 2008, the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimated that 151,000 deaths had taken place in the country due to the violence, with a 95 per cent confidence estimate of between 104,000 and 223,000 from March 2003 through to June 2006. The figures were based on the results of an Iraq family health survey published in the <i>New England Journal of Medicine</i>, a respected US journal. </p> <p>Another estimate from the Iraq Body Count, a non- governmental organisation based in Britain that uses media accounts, has put the number of civilian dead in Iraq at 47,668 during the same period as the WHO study. The group’s latest figures for civilian deaths from violence in the country until September 19 2010 stood at between 98,252 and 107,235.</p> <p>A 2006 survey in <i>The Lancet</i>, a British medical journal, estimated that more than 600,000 Iraqis had died as a result of the war, a figure more than 10 times higher than other estimates at the time. </p> <p>Iraq has not officially reacted to any of the studies, though many Iraqis have rejected the new US figures on the number of civilian deaths in the conflict, saying that they are well below the actual numbers who have died. </p> <p>The numbers are misleading, critics say, because they are not based on a well- defined methodology dealing with all violence-related deaths, including assassinations and in operations conducted by the US military.</p> <p>Estimates of casualty figures during the US-led invasion and occupation of Iraq have been controversial because of the high political stakes involved and the possibility of manipulation aimed at swaying public opinion. The recent report was prompted by a Freedom of Information Act request from the National Security Archive at George Washington University. </p> <p>Scepticism has arisen about these latest figures not only because of possible discrepancies and the mysterious standards used to establish the magnitude of the casualties, but also because the parties involved have been reluctant to tell the truth about this human tragedy.</p> <p>A fundamental question is why the US military, which bears primary responsibility for the conflict, failed to address the issue start from the start and why it did not keep accurate records on the victims of the invasion and occupation.</p> <p>The military’s apparent incapacity to provide statistics about the causalities of US air bombardments and other related operations is a real and pressing concern.</p> <p>Another question of concern is why the US media, omnipresent in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, has not capitalised on its high standards of professionalism to gather accurate data about the human tragedy in Iraq.</p> <p>The Associated Press kept a record for the period from 28 April 2005 to 30 September 2010 listing some 49,416 deaths.</p> <p>Yet, even more disturbing than these US failures has been the failure by successive Iraqi governments to establish an efficient process of data collection to register the deaths of Iraqi citizens and to compensate their families.</p> <p>Failure to collect data and dodgy statistics are not the only problems. There is also the problem of how to count deaths that are directly related to the war and occupation, separating them from deaths as a result of violence in the country.</p> <p>Absent from the debate is any explanation of the humanitarian crisis that has struck Iraq since the 2003 US-led invasion, including increasing poverty, unemployment, the deterioration of health services and the destruction of the country’s ecological system.</p> <p>Statistics such as those released by the US military have also largely ignored Iraqi fatalities caused by a lack of clean drinking water and a breakdown in utilities.</p> <p>Humanitarian agencies like the International Committee of the Red Cross have warned that the country’s healthcare facilities face grave shortages of staff and supplies, with the water, sewage and electricity infrastructure being in critical condition.</p> <p>Rates of cancer, leukemia and brain tumours, widely believed to have been caused by US weaponry, have been on the rise, some research suggesting that they rival those reported among survivors of the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.</p> <p>The US military’s report on the death toll in Iraq comes at a time when US President Barack Obama has reached his lowest ratings in US opinion polls ahead of crucial mid-term elections next month.</p> <p>The release of the statistics while Obama embarks on a campaign to drum up support for Democratic Party candidates cannot be a coincidence.</p> <p>By publishing a limited number of casualties in Iraq, the Obama administration may be hoping that it can go ahead with its policy of "turning the page" in Iraq, ending the US military presence in the country by the end of next year.</p> <p>Exiting from Iraq would benefit the Democratic Party, whose president vowed to end the legacy of the Republican Party and its president in Iraq. </p> <p>If all goes to plan, Iraq will no longer be front-page news in America, as US soldiers pack up to leave in order to help Democrats achieve some sort of hoped-for victory in next month’s elections.</p> <p>However, the very day this article was sent to print, a spate of bomb attacks across Iraq killed and wounded many people, serving as proof that the threat of death remains a part of daily life in the country.</p> <p>If Albright’s idea that the price paid by Iraqi civilians for US policy "is worth it" can serve as any sort of reminder in this sad chapter of Iraq’s history, then it should be that the US-led invasion has turned into a humanitarian tragedy, as well as an American national predicament.</p> align="right"> <p>النجف .. قال مصدر مطلع في وزاره الصحه في النجف ان 38 اصابة.. تخلف واقعا مأساويا وعلامات استغراب كبيرة في حي الانصار جنوب شرقي مركز محافظة النجف كشفت عن حالة غامضة أثارت تساؤلات ما زالت حتى الآن بلا إجابات،</p> <p>تزايدت حالات الإصابة بالأمراض السرطانية بمختلف أنواعها أودت بحياة العديد من المواطنين فيما لا زال البعض منهم يتلقى العلاج على أمل ضعيف بالشفاء لتشكل حالة أشبه ما تكون بالعدوى الوبائية زقاق الموت لم تدم رحلة علاج عبد زيد كاظم الذي يسكن الزقاق 124 في حي الأنصار أكثر من عامين حتى وافاه الاجل جراء إصابته بسرطان الرئة، هذا ما قاله أبنه الأكبر سعد، مشيرا إلى أنهم اكتشفوا إصابة الأب بالسرطان أواخر عام 2003 عندما راجع مستشفى الحكيم العام وهو يشكو من ضيق في التنفس. ويروي سعد مقتطفات عن رحلة العلاج المريرة: بدأنا علاج والدي بالحقن الكيمياوية حين لم تكن متوفرة في النجف وكنا نأتي بها من محافظة بابل بسعر يتراوح بين 15 إلى 20 ألف دينار للحقنة الواحدة. وأضاف: يوما بعد آخر تضاعف سعر الحقنة ليصل إلى 225 ألف دينار وكذلك تضاعفت حاجة والديها إليها مع تراجعت حالته الصحية، فبعد أن كانت حقنة واحدة في الشهر أصبحت حقنة كل أسبوع ثم حقنتين في الأسبوع، ما يعني 450 ألف دينار أسبوعيا وهو مبلغ لا نستطيع توفيره، كما لم ينجح العلاج بالإبقاء على حياته. الابن تساءل «هل السرطان مرض معدً»؟، معللا سبب هذا التساؤل بإصابة أفراد العائلة المجاورة لمنزلهم بالسرطان مباشرة بعد اكتشاف حالة أبيه وظهور العديد من الإصابات في الزقاق. إصابات قاتلة مختار منطقة حي الانصار الثانية احمد طاهر الميالي روى قصصا مأساوية عززها بما لديه من وثائق ومستمسكات عن المصابين بالسرطان قدمها الى المجلس البلدي ومجلس المحافظة والحكومة المحلية على امل الحصول على مساعدات لهذه العوائل او ايجاد حلول للمصاعب التي تواجهها. وألمح الى ان معظم هذه العوائل باتت ترفض اجراء اللقاءات الصحفية او التلفزيونية بعد كثرة الزيارات والأسئلة ونقل صورة حية عن الواقع المأساوي لهذه العوائل لكن من دون وضع أية معالجات جادة لمعاناتهم. الميالي كشف ان اغلب المصابين توفوا بعد عامين من تلقي العلاج، اما من لا تمكنهم حالتهم المادية من الحصول على العلاج فلم يعيشوا اكثر من ستة اشهر اذ وصل سعر حقنة العلاج الكيمياوي الى 225 الف دينار ولا تتوفر الا في صيدلية واحدة في محافظة بابل، مؤكدا ان مدير الصحة في النجف وعد قبل عام تقريباً بتوفيرها لكنه لم يف بوعده حتى الآن. وتابع: قمنا بمراجعة دائرة الرعاية الاجتماعية للحصول على معونات لمرضى السرطان الا انها اعتذرت بأن الاصابات السرطانية غير مشمولة برواتب شبكة الحماية الاجتماعية، وما يثير الاستياء ان المسؤولين في شبكة الحماية الاجتماعية يماطلون في انجاز معاملات العوائل التي فقدت معيلها جراء الاصابة بالسرطان على الرغم من ان الارامل والايتام من الفئات المشمولة برواتب الشبكة، كما لم يحرك مجلس المحافظة ساكنا بهذا الخصوص. 38 اصابة في محلة واحدة الميالي اكد تسجيل 38 اصابة سرطانية ضمن المحلة السكنية التي يديرها توفي اغلبهم ولم يبق منهم على قيد الحياة سوى اربعة او خمسة مصابين، مشيرا الى ان من بين المصابين طفلة اضطر والدها الى بيع سيارته وهي مصدر رزقه الوحيد لاجراء عملية رفع ورم من الدماغ لابنته وهو الان عاطل عن العمل. ونوه بأن والد الطفلة لينا رشدي كاظم وعمرها اربع سنوات قام ببيع حصته في بيت ابيه واستئجار بيتا له من اجل توفير المال لعلاج الطفلة في بغداد، وكذلك الحال مع عائلة الطفلة رسل فاهم التي كلف علاجها ملايين الدنانير حتى الان. وعزا المختار احمد طاهر الميالي تناقض الاحصائيات الى ان وزارة الصحة تعتمد على شهادات الوفاة، مؤكدا انهم اكتشفوا ان العديد ممن توفوا بالسرطان تم تسجيل اسباب اخرى لوفاتهم في شهادات الوفاة التي اصدرتها المستشفى كتوقف القلب المفاجئ أو الجلطة او غير ذلك لكي لا تدخل في احصاء الاصابات السرطانية على الرغم ان المتوفين لديهم دفاتر العلاج الكيمياوي ويراجعون المستشفى نفسها منذ مدة لتلقي العلاج. العلاج الاشعاعي الدكتور عماد كريم علوان اختصاص معالجة الاورام في مستشفى الصدر التعليمي اشار الى ان وحدة الاورام في المستشفى تغطي مرضى النجف ومحافظات كربلاء والديوانية والمثنى وبعض الحالات من بابل، فضلا عن قيام صحة النجف بتوفير القسم الاكبر من الادوية وما زالت هناك شحة وهو امر يرهق المريض لان العمل بالبدائل بالنسبة للاصابات السرطانية غير مفيد. والمح الى ان توفير ادوية اكثر تطورا مكلف جدا وهو امر يقع على عاتق الدولة اذ يصل سعر (شريط) نوع من العلاج الى ثلاثة الاف دولار وهو ما لا تستطيع صحة النجف توفيره حسب الامكانيات المتاحة لها. ويضيف علوان بأن الشفاء من السرطان يحتاج الى علاج اشعاعي وهذا الجهاز غير متوفر سوى في بغداد ما يشكل زخما كبيرا في مواعيد تلقي العلاج لتصل الى ستة اشهر احيانا، ما يستدعي توفير اجهزة اضافية اذ ان طبيعة الورم السرطاني تتطلب العلاج السريع لمنع انتشاره. والمح الى ان سعر الجهاز خمسة ملايين دولار «وهو رقم لا يصل الى كلفة العديد من المشاريع الثانوية التي بالامكان تأجيلها الى اوقات اخرى لكن حياة الانسان غير قابلة للتأجيل، فضلا عن ان تكاليف علاج المرضى العراقيين خارج البلاد تتجاوز هذا الرقم بكثير اذ تصل كلفة جلسة الاشعاع الواحدة الى 6500 دولار». ولفت الى أن الادوية الاخرى متوفرة بنسبة 90 بالمئة «الا ان الامر لا يقاس بهذه الطريقة فعندما يكون المصاب بحاجة الى اربعة انواع من الادوية والمتوفر منها نوعان او ثلاثة لا يكون العلاج مجديا». وتساءل الدكتور علوان «اذا كانت الدولة بامكانياتها الضخمة لا تستطيع ان توفير علاج السرطانية في مؤسساتها كيف استطاعت الصيدليات الاهلية توفيره وكيف يسمح لها ببيعه على الرغم من انها لا تملك شهادة فحص لهذه الادوية»؟. وفيما يتعلق بزيادة حالات الاصابة واسبابها قال علوان: هناك زيادة في كل عام بلغت 200 حالة سنويا، وهذه الزيادة ليست في العراق فقط بل على مستوى العالم اما الاسباب فما زالت مبهمة وهناك الكثير من النظريات حولها ولكن في العراق هناك سبب رئيس وهو زيادة نسبة الاشعاع border="0"/></a>قالت صحيفة بريطانية  ان وزارة الدفاع البريطانية التي تعاني نقصاً في السيولة المادية تواجه احتمال دفعها تعويضات لمئات العراقيين الذين تم اعتقالهم على يد الجيش البريطاني وتعرضوا لسوء المعاملة . </p> <p>وذكرت صحيفة التايمز البريطانية على موقعها الالكتروني امس ان وزارة الدفاع سبق ودفعت ملايين الجنيهات كتعويضات لضحايا الاعتداء الجسدي والجنسي وسوء المعاملة من العراقيين اثر احتجازهم في المناطق التي تواجد فيها الجيش البريطاني بين عامي 2003 و2009 جنوبي العراق. وذكرت ان عائلة العراقي بهاء موسى الذي توفي في الحجز البريطاني عام 2003 حصلت على تعويض مقداره 2.83 مليون جنيه إسترليني تشاركته مع تسعة محتجزين آخرين، والتي اظهر التحقيق في وفاته أدلة تؤكد أساءة معاملة المعتقلين بشكل غير قانوني . وأشارت الصحيفة الى ان وزارة الدفاع اعترفت عام 2008 بحدوث عمليات اعتداء غير قانونية على عراقيين محتجزين في أحدى قواعدها في البصرة اشارة منها لمعسكر "بريد باسكت". وقال محامي بعض المعتقلين العراقيين انه حصلت زيادة في عدد القضايا المقدمة لمكتب المحاماة الذي يقوم بتمثيل نحو 100 عراقي ممن رفعوا دعاوى ضد وزارة الدفاع بتهم إساءة الجيش البريطاني لمعاملتهم خلال الاحتجاز،مشيرين الى ان عدد القضايا والحالات المقدمة سترتفع بلا شك، ونقلت عن أعضاء شركة بريطانية أخرى للمحاماة، تقوم بتمثيل 65 شخصاً قولهم " ان الدعاوى المماثلة ستشهد ارتفاعاً كبيراً". وأوضحت الصحيفة انه تم الكشف عن الانتهاكات سيئة السمعة التي تعرض اليها المعتقلون العراقيون في معسكر "بريد باسكت" في البصرة والتي بينت عبر شهادات المعتقلين انهم تعرضوا للاعتداء الجنسي من قبل الجنود وأدت الى تعرضهم للنبذ من قبل المجتمع بعد الافراج عنهم . ونقلت التايمز عن احد العراقيين الذي اعتقل في المعسكر المذكور عام 2003 والذي حصل على تعويض من وزارة الدفاع البريطانية، قوله انه تم تجريده من ملابسه الداخلية وتعرض للضرب واجبر على الجلوس في الخارج وظهره الى الجدار في الحر الشديد مدة خمس ساعات بدون ماء. وأضاف ان " المشكلة الرئيسة التي دمرت سمعتي ان الناس في منطقتي عندما سمعوا بأني اعتقلت من قبل الجيش البريطاني اعتقدوا بأني تعرضت للإساءةوالاعتداء الجنسي من قبل العاملين مع الجيش البريطاني.وأوضح المعتقل انه بعد ذكر ما تعرض اليه للسلطات البريطانية طُلب منه النظر الى ألبوم صور يحتوي على صور فوتغرافية لمعتقلين آخرين، وقال" شاهدت صور لأصدقائي يتعرضون للإساءة من قبل القوات البريطانية حيث كانوا معلقين رأساً على عقب وهم عراة ويتم الاعتداء عليهم جنسياً". ورفضت وزارة الدفاع التعليق على هذه القضية لتسويتها خارج المحكمة . وقالت الصحيفة ان معتقلا آخرا في المعسكر المذكور يبلغ من العمر " 25 عاماً" أنفجر باكياً وهو يسرد كيفية أعتداء جنديين بريطانيين عليه جنسياً وضربهم اياه وتهديده بالقتل مبيناً آثار الندوب التي غطت ذراعيه لمراسل الصحيفة. وقال " بعد ذلك بدأت حياتي التي أصبحت جحيماً مليئة بالكوارث".مبينة انه اضطر لمغادرة البصرة بعد هذه الفضيحة، وتزوج عام 2005 ورزق بابنتين، لكنه بسبب العار الذي لحقه جراء الاعتداء عليه انفصل عن زوجته، وعبرعن أمله بأن يتم مقاضاة جميع المسؤولين والمدانين بارتكاب هذه الجرائم امام الشعب العراقي. وفي آذار الماضي أعلنت وزارة الدفاع البريطانية عن إنشاء فريق للتحقيق في تعرض عراقيين الى الاساءة من قبل افراد الجيش البريطاني، وقال متحدث باسم الدفاع انه من المرجح استغرق هذا التحقيق العامين و سيتم تناول القضايا المرفوعة من قبل
