Hired at first as a Technical Sales Representative, Jean became Marketing Manager in 2006. He served on the BC Blueberry Council Disease Committee and was a frequent and popular presenter at the Lower Mainland Horticultural Improvement Association Grower’s Short Course. Jean was a man of many passions; an avid follower of baseball and football, a foodie who took great pleasure in not only cooking, but the pure enjoyment of eating. He was also a certified scuba instructor who spent many hours in the water. In recent years, his passion expanded to include photography. Jean was extremely active in the farming community in the Fraser Valley and spent many hours providing individual farmers with his time and expertise to help ensure a successful harvest. He was devoted to excellence in agronomy, a true professional and considered by many to be an expert in his field. https://giving.ufv.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Jean-Hogue-650x488.jpg 650w" sizes="(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" /></a>Born in 1968 in Quebec, Jean Andre Hogue came to BC in 1977 and grew up there. He studied agriculture at UBC and completed his B.Sc. During the next sixteen years he worked in the agricultural industry in the Fraser Valley, beginning with the Cloverdale Soil Conservation Group for two years, and then with TerraLink Horticulture Inc. Hired at first as a Technical Sales Representative, Jean became Marketing Manager in 2006. He served on the BC Blueberry Council Disease Committee and was a frequent and popular presenter at the Lower Mainland Horticultural Improvement Association Grower’s Short Course.</p> <p>Jean was a man of many passions; an avid follower of baseball and football, a foodie who took great pleasure in not only cooking, but the pure enjoyment of eating. He was also a certified scuba instructor who spent many hours in the water. In recent years, his passion expanded to include photography. Jean was extremely active in the farming community in the Fraser Valley and spent many hours providing individual farmers with his time and expertise to help ensure a successful harvest. He was devoted to excellence in agronomy, a true professional and considered by many to be an expert in his field.</p> <p>The common thread that united Jean’s different passions was his commitment to helping and teaching others. Those who knew him will attest to his generous approach to life and the ease with which he engaged others. He will be remembered for his easy smile, off-beat sense of humor, quick laugh, ability to put others at ease, his willingness to help anyone at anytime and for the love of his wife Cris and son Josh.</p> <p>Upon Jean’s sudden passing; friends and family of Jean made arrangements with the University of the Fraser Valley to create the Jean Hogue Memorial Endowment Scholarship. This Scholarship is awarded to a horticulture student meeting a criteria set out by TerraLink Horticulture Inc. and reflects the commitment Jean had to excellence in agronomy. As an endowment scholarship, this award will continue in perpetuity.</p> <p>It is our sincerest hope that you would consider supporting this special award in memory of Jean.
