Everyone who hears will rejoice with me.&#8221; <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And she said, &#8220;Who said to Abraham that Sara will breastfeed children? For I have given birth to a son for him in his old age.&#8221;<p> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And the boy grew and was weaned and Abraham made a great feast in the day that Isaaq was weaned.<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And Sara saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian laughing, to whom Hagar had given birth by Abraham. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And she said to Abraham, &#8220;Cast out this Maidservant and her son, because the son of this maid will not inherit with my son Isaaq.&#8221; <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And the response was very distressing in the eyes of Abraham, concerning the matter of his son. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And God said to Abraham: &#8220;Do not let it be distressing in your eyes, concerning the boy, and concerning your Maidservant. Listen to her voice in everything that Sara spoke to you, because your seed shall be called in Isaaq. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>Also I shall make the son of the maid a great people because he is your seed.&#8221; <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And Abraham arose at dawn and he took bread and a skin of waters and he gave it to Hagar and laid it and the boy on her shoulder, and he sent her away and she went and she wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And the waters from the skin were finished and she laid the boy under one of the shrubs. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And she went and she sat far off; she removed about the shot of a bow because she said, &#8220;I will not see the death of the boy&#8221;, and she sat far off and she lifted her voice and she wept. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And God heard the voice of the boy and the Angel of God called to Hagar from Heaven and said to her, &#8220;What is happening to you Hagar? Do not be afraid, because God has heard the voice of the boy where he is. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>Arise, pick up the boy and hold your hands firmly on him, because I shall make him a great nation.&#8221; <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And God opened her eyes and she saw a well of waters and she went and filled the skin with water and gave drink to the boy.<p> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And God was with the boy and he grew and he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran and he did learn the bow in the wilderness of Paran. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And his mother took for him a woman from the land of Egypt.<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And it was at that time, Abimelek and Phikol, Captain of his army, said to Abraham, &#8220;God is with you in everything that you do: <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And now swear to me by God here, that you will not lie to me and to my family and to my descendants, and according to the favor that I have done with you, do with me and with the land in which you dwell.&#8221; <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And Abraham said, &#8220;I shall swear.&#8221; <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And Abraham reproved Abimelek concerning a matter of a well of waters that the Servants of Abraham had dug and the Servants of Abimelek had taken it. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And Abimelek said, &#8220;I did not know who did this matter, also you did not show me, neither had I heard except only today.&#8221;<p> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And Abraham took sheep and oxen and he gave to Abimelek and both of them established a covenant. <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And Abraham set seven ewes of sheep by themselves. <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>And Abimelek said to Abraham, &#8220;What are these seven ewes of sheep that you have set by themselves?&#8221; <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>And he said, &#8220;Take from my hands the seven ewes so that it may be a testimony to me that I have dug this well.&#8221; <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>Because of this he called that place Beersheba, because there both of them had sworn. <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/21-32.htm#aramaic"><b>32</b></a></span>And they made a covenant in Beersheba;
